D-Day update, June 6, 1994 ... Decision Day for Peter

Vanessa disses Sid Vicious and court system
Buzz gets sprung
Eleni and Frank hurt each other again (with a little help from A-M)
Jenna tempts Buzz once again to do the wrong thing

Jail:
Buzz finds out he's being sprung. Altho he hopes the charges are
dropped he finds its due to his family making bail for him. As they
haven't enough money to fill a teacup he queries if this is coming
from Lucy's trust fund ... Marina's piggy-bank?

Cooper house:
Lucy thanks Eleni for putting her business on the line to help Buzz.
Eleni wonders why all the Coopers are amazed when she still acts
like part of the family. When Eleni mentions what a great guy Buzz
is, Lucy makes a pitch for Frank. She says Frank's really sorry
about what happened. Altho Eleni says she knows he probably is,
what would make a difference is if he began to realize what
went wrong.
Cut to:
A-M, sitting on yacht, reading Frank's letter.

Court:
Vanessa jerks Sid Vicious' chain, as she suddenly stands as he
is questioning Bridget.
Vanessa:" Stop attacking her. I know you want to win this case
for me but I don't want Peter's mother destroyed."
As Sid and the Judge react to get Van under control, V. continues
and castigates the court system as a place that takes two women
who love a child and turn it into a character assassination
contest. The courtroom erupts as Sid is ordered to get his under
control. The Judge
client under control. The judge asks: "Do you now wish to relinquish
custody of the child?"

INTRO

Court:
Van:"No I do not want to give up custody. He's my son. He has
been since the first time he was placed in my arms. That doesn't
mean I have to ruin a young girl's life."
Sid Vicious tries to approach the bench, as Ross encourages Van
to keep talking. The Judge states that she has given lots of
leeway thus far to allow the two women to understand each other,
so she will allow Van to continue. Sid protests that its not in
her best interest.
Van:"This is not in Peter's interest. I don't believe the court
is addressing the basic truths." They are that Jet loves Peter,
she is not the immoral immature person she's being made out to be,
and that after seeing the attic Van knows what a remarkable person
Jet is. "I respect and admire her for landing on her feet. I don't
think she deserves a public stoning for very human mistakes."
[Have you noticed, stoning is reviving as a form of punishment
on GL. Attention Jules. BTW, she looked disgusted at Van's
  weakness during all of this]
Van apologizes to Bridget for what has gone before, and suggests that
all Jet should be asked is whether Van is a good mother to Peter
and whether it would do him harm to have to change homes.
Jet is all broken up by this, but when she tries to answer, Ross
butts in to order her silence.
Van castigates Ross: "Is all you care about winning?" When Ross
attempts to defend himself stating V. is not the final judge of
truth, Van again states that Jet should be allowed to talk. At this
point the Judge has had it and re-asserts control. Sid desperately
asks for a recess. Josh attempts to quiet Vanessa who says: "Stop
it. I don't want to be handled or talked sense into. [Hey Vanessa!!]
"If you don't believe in what I'm talking about fine." She exits.
Roger, jumping up and down, rushes to Bridget as she heads toward
Vanessa. The Dodger says: "Its over. You won" Bridget is silent
and seems very upset.

Newspaper:
Holly helps Jenna find out that Buzz is being released on bail.
She is very upset to find out he will probably do time.

Jail:
Buzz refuses to accept bail because of his "personal regulations
against accepting handouts from kids." Frank objects that for
Buzz help is only a one-way street, he can only be a hero not be
the one helped. Nadine chimes in in agreement until Frank says:
"Mom this is between him and me." Buzz: "We're trying to have a
fight here. Let us have it ok." Nadine:"Fine be my guest."
RMOTFL. Buzz tells Frank he lacks experience in how fathers should
act. Frank counters with the complaint he only wanted to be his
own man which Buzz won't allow. To accept help would mean Buzz was
around for the long haul, which isn't part of his plan. Frank exits
in a huff as per usual. Nadine reprimand Buzz for his ungratefulness
and asks why he had to make Frankie feel bad. Buzz: "Pleeze"
Nadine realizes that his reluctance to take the money is due to
his plans to skip out.

Court:
Various conversations are taking place amid the aftermath.
Bridget and Ed hug, and discuss what Van wants. Bridget asks Ross
whats happening. Ross doesn't know but thinks Sid is asking the
Judge for an adjournment.
Roger to Blake: This was too much to hope for. Gloats over the ice
maiden cracking, attacking her attorney, offending the judge, creating
sympathy for the defendant. Blakie excuses herself to talk to Ross.
Roger thinks he should be pleased as punch. She comforts Ross telling
him he is not like Sid but he's an ethical guy. Ross defends Sid
as an attorney. The Judge enters and announces a recess until 4 p.m.
If Van isn't there he will enter a judgement without her. Sid says
she will be there, but tells Josh he hopes he isn't lying. Josh says
she'll be there at 4. Bridget is now also missing. Ed thinks maybe
she is in the ladies room.
Frank enters to asks for Ross's help with Buzz.

Jail:
Nadine and Buzz argue about him skipping out. Buzz says that:
"Sweet guy that you think I am, jerk that Miss Bradshaw thinks I
am, are one and the same guy. I'm like LA, full of faults."
Cutter razzes Buzz about wanting to go back in the clink, but Buzz
counters with the fact its still a free country.

Coopers:
Eleni comes down the stairs in a low cut red A-M vintage dress,
leading to awkward conversation with Lucy as to its origins.
Altho Lucy is afraid her comments will be taken for sour grapes,
she asks

why Eleni if she still loves Frank, is rubbing his nose in
her friendship with A-M. She points out quite rightly I think that
Marina alone is reason enough to try to work things out. She exits
the homestead to wait outside for Buzz's return.

Vanessa's:Peter's room:
Van, looking quite composed, babbles to Peter in his crib. We see
Jet peeking in his door [Don't these people ever lock their doors?]
Bridget wonders what happened at the courthouse. Van says its pretty
obvious, I freaked out. Cute little Peter babbles away. Van calms down
Bridget cautioning her that kids pick up on adults upsets. Jet is
afraid this is a trick. Van says its not a plan, but what happened
at the court is wrong. She is afraid Pete will find out some day.
Bridget says everyone is judging her about the bad things not the
good. Van says Peter wouldn't agree that Jet isn't a good person.
She says she doesn't want to go on being cruel to one another. Jet
says she thought two lawyers and a judge would prevent this. Van
counters with the fact that the judge, who doesn't know Peter will
be the one who decides his fate. They both swear they cannot give
up their son. Jet says they are back to square one. Vanessa closes
the bedroom door. She states they are not leaving until they make
their own decision. Jet wonders how she can trust Van, while Peter
babbles Mama, Dada. She mentions Billy's promises that Van didn't
keep. "Now you expect me to have faith in you." Van nods.

Jail:
Buzz asks Ross what alternatives he has. Altho he would be in a good
position to turn states evidence, he insists on negotiating with
the FBI. As long as he is not being sent to the Salt mines or
Siberia, he wants Ross to call them. Ross says he could get out
today.

Newspaper:
Jenna finds out about Buzz (I don't know whether jail or FBI deal)
and thinks he will shrivel up. She calls Grady and sets up new ID
for life in Rio. She needs a picture of Buzz and with heavy
symbolism cuts one of theirs in two.

Jail:
FBI guy sits there as Ross outlines deal. Buzz balks at 24 hr. ankle
monitor. Frank objects to deal, wondering how Buzz will raise 140,000.
[I wonder why FBI has never mentioned money discrepancy between what
Pauly thought was stolen and what was actually there]. Nadine gets
Buzz released into her custody, as Cutter testifies as to what an
upstanding family the Coopers are.

Lewises?:
Bell rings as Henry says I'll get it and opens door to Jenna.
She asks H. for 6000 dollars, and tells him "its about love."
Henry tells her that he knew she was able to find deep love but
he didn't know if she would trust it. Jenna tells him that
she is trouble for the man she loves [thats for sure] and needs
to buy his freedom away from her. Henry agrees to provide the funds.

Peter's room:
Outside: Sid Vicious knocks. Van answers, hears the court will
reconvene at 4, and coldly tells him to get lost.
Vanessa is holding Peter with a bottle on her lap in the rocker, as
Jet sits cross-legged at her feet. She brings up the King Solomon
story. Vanessa says Billy's promises weren't mine. If you don't trust
my word you can trust my love for Peter. Jet interjects that she
doesn't want to be Van's housekeeper.
Van: I don't want you to be my housekeeper. I don't think you'd
do a good job.
Jet: Well, thank you.
Van proposes joint custody and asks if she has made plans with
Dylan. When she finds out nothing is definite she says then
they will be single mothers. Jet wonders what they will do about
disagreements and Van tells her they will have to learn to
compromise like any good parents. Jet wonders if the Court will
accept this. Van says the Court sucks, but if Bridget thinks it
can reach a fair decision about Peter she'll drop her joint
custody idea.

Cooper's:
Frank returns, and finds out from Lucy that Eleni already knows
about Buzz. He enters anyway, as Eleni quickly puts down a picture
on the mantel she has been looking at. They are very awkward with
each other. First they discuss Buzz. Buzz will be living with
Nadine as per the custody agreement. Eleni says it should be easy
for her to keep tabs on Buzz since she's been doing it for a long
time.
Frank (mind):How can you ignore my letter?
Eleni(mind):Frank, I love you so much. Why don't you try to
understand what when wrong.
They both reach the conclusion that each has given up on the other.
Eleni coldly tells Frankie he can't leave until he gets that "stuff"
off the wall.

Jail:
As Buzz is leaving he finds his family has applied the 25,000 to
his debt. He complains to Nadine that this is the worse day of his
life. Asks why she is smiling. She says its because he is going to
be around for a long time.

Peter's room:
Jet discusses going to Schindler's list with Dylan .. "So groovy ??
[does anyone use this word anymore] how one guy could help so many
people by taking a chance. She says she isn't brave and heroic, but
knows it would be better for Peter if they worked together. They make
a pact to work together for Peter's sake. Jet tells Van she thinks
shes been a great mother and is happy they can both be in his life.
Vanessa gives sleeping Peter to Bridget for a diaper change. Both
participate in the activity. BTW, Peter has great toys.

Front Porch:
Buzz hugs Lucy while Nadine looks on. They discuss fattening him
up and make other mother hen clucks. Buzz looks pained and pleads
to stay on front porch. Nadine says she doesn't want to smother
Buzz just help him get on his feet. She tells B. he can take a
walk as long as he tells her which way and when he will come
back. Exits.
Psst. Ginger (in a feeble disguise). She comes to Buzz on behalf
of her old mistress. She gives him a message from Jenna -- "You
gave me a new beginning. I'm just returning the favor." Ginger
thinks this must be some kind of code, but tells him he'll have
to figure it out as she takes a powder. Buzz sees the new ID and
stuff for Brazil and beyond. There is a new passport under the name
of Curtis Bradley with the birth-date of April 27, 1942. [Which
would make Buzz 52 if he were also that age, for those playing
the age game] Thru the window, we see Frankie reluctantly painting out the "I
love you" as Eleni looks on pensively.

Cut to AM:
He is reading the letter that would really do the
trick for Frank. Frank acknowledges Eleni's right to grow. He
says he was afraid if she had other interests she would no longer
love him. He asks: "Give me a chance to be the husband I can be ..."
A-M looks at Eleni's ? blue wallet on his table.

Newspaper:
Roger to Holly: "I've been a solo act for a long time. You're
going to have to teach me about this duet business."

Court:
Judge reconvenes without Vanessa and Bridget. They enter arm in arm.

Fade to black.
