Status: R

LIST-MAINTAINER: It has come to my attention that, contrary to
posted policy, Updates are not being "pulled"
from the Net for inclusion in list contents.
Some list participants have thus reached the
erroneous conclusion that many Updates are
		     not being done _at all_.
No Wed. Updates have been missed since I've
assumed the time-slot (if you'd like back
		     copies, send email).

   Courtroom. 'Nessa-in-the-hot-seat.
Despite some early "cat and mouse" (Ross wonders if Vanessa harbors
serious reservations concerning Sid's approach to the trial, and Van
asks the same re: Jet; she also brainslaps Ross over the tone of his
questioning ("...You ought to be ashamed of yourself." --- allowed to
stand in-record), Ross (raising the issue of Van's own illegitimate
baby) grills Vanessa like a fat slab of tuna:
V: "...of course, I have regrets..."
R: "...then why, you, of all people...why can't you see,
what is crystal clear to many others, that, abetted
by secrecy and ignorance of the law, you are condemning
Bridget Reardon to a lifetime of those very same regrets!"
   (Vanessa refuses to answer)
   R: "Mrs. Lewis?!"
(Van turns and, with an angry growl, fires off one of those
patented "if I could get my hands around your neck" shivers. :) )
R: "I'm done with this witness, your Honor." [snicker]
(Henry stares daggers at the counselor, and even Ross' eyes
wet up a bit after he takes his seat and reflects upon the
accuracy and depth of the legal "wound" he's just inflicted.)

Sid tries to put the issue in perspective by having Vanessa publicly
name Ross as the father of the baby in question, thus suggesting
possible ulterior motives.
   Lunch break.
Sid, Josh, Mindy, and Hamp take their act to the CC. The Josh-ster is
so upset over Ross' interrogation, he can't choke down a single bite. On
the way to a calming walk he runs into Tangie, and politely, but firmly
blows her off.
Ed finds Vanessa sitting on the stoop of one of those humongoid
Franklin Park brownstones, and tries to patch things up. Mr. Man
suggests that, come Labor Day, things will have substantially mellowed
between their families.

Just prior to the continuation (in the hallway), Bill and Michelle
try to "bust a move" on the proceedings (extra credits in school [:]),
but are shooed away by both Vanessa and Ed.
During his questioning of Nadine, Ross focuses on Jet's stay in the
Lewis attic, and the kid's love for her baby. Deenie actually apologizes
to Bridget from the stand.
Sid breaks out an official phone call trace-document, which includes
a 9-1-1 call Nadine made the night Jet took Peter from the house. He
turns to David with a "Cheshire Cat" grin, and announces he will later
"call" someone to the stand who can identify the culprit. :)
In a surprise move, Sidney, switching the order of his witnesses,
also announces he next wants Roger on the stand.

   Springfield PD.
Nadine (dressed to the max in a cream-colored suit w/black
geometrics on the collar borders) rushes into Buzz's cell, says a quick
hello, then "introduces" Frank and blows Dodge. :)
Seems Junior wants to apologize for being too self-involved, not
reading the signs, and thus not being able to help Buzz with the Pauly
thing (as B helped him when, desperate for bucks (Marina's surgery), he
went south and almost pulled a heist).
Ross shows up to deal with Buzz's bail (10% of $250,000), and to ask
Neigh-Dong to testify at the afternoon Lewis/Reardon custody session
(she agrees).
Henry, p.o.'ed to the max, tracks Ross down in the basement, returns
some mementos and reads "The Terminator" the riot act for his courtroom
reaming of his daughter.

Top-side, Cutter and the FBI begin to interrogate Jenna (arrested at
the country club just prior to lunch; went upside Pat's head with a pair
of cuffs during the car ride to the pokey), just as Buzz is hauled up
for medical treatment.
Cutter attempts to run a "good cop/bad cop" game on her butt, and
suggests that, she better come clean, because Buzz is cutting a deal
with the feds and hanging her out to dry. Inside, the Buzz-ster declines
the gambit, and tries to signal J with a nod through the window of the
room. She misinterprets the motion, reverses field, declares that she
separated herself from Buzz the minute she found out he was involved
with the loot, and blows Dodge.

Later, in the hallway just outside the Reardon custody hearing, Jenna
runs into Frank and Blake, and learns that Buzz didn't even mention her
name in his confession. [!]
