* Ben offers Beth a deal with no jail time. Ross is suspicious.
* Harley & Phillip get a lead on the investigation of Carl's murder.
* Frank accuses Harley of stealing his file & threatens arrest.

fears Annie has returned.
* Buzz threatens to tell the press that "Reva" is a clone.
* The clone locks Reva in the lighthouse cellar.
* Michelle tells Jesse she wants to take things slowly.

PRISON: Rick swings Abby around her cell & tells her jubilantly that
she's free on bail & can come home. Abby says she can't leave now
because she made a promise to Selena. Rick thinks Abby is joking, but
she's serious. She asks him to trust her for one more night.

COMPANY: Beth meets Ross & asks why he needed to see her so urgently.
She hopes there's nothing wrong. Ross says it's exactly the opposite.
Ben has recommended a suspended sentence for Beth if she pleads
guilty to involuntary manslaughter. Beth sighs with relief. Ross
cautions her that it's not a done deal, & it's also totally out of
character for Ben. He asks if she has any idea why Ben would want to
help her. Ben shows up & says he'd be happy to explain himself.

HARLEY'S APARTMENT: Phillip arrives with a pizza, to Harley's
delight. She is starving & starts wolfing down a slice. Phillip can't
believe she eats this stuff for breakfast. She offers him a bite, but
he demurs. Harley wants to get to work, so he grabs a slice & joins
her at the computer. She tells him to go do his own job at Spaulding.
He argues that he helped her steal the police file, so this somehow
entitles him to help Harley work on the case. They argue back & forth
about who did what until they wind up kissing.

MICHAEL'S APT: Josh bangs on the door until Michael comes running.
Josh asks if Michael has seen the clone. Michael says he hasn't seen
her since the day Josh told him to stay away, and now he wants Josh
to stay away from him. Michael starts to close the door in Josh's
face, but Josh says the clone is missing. He was up in the bedroom
and he heard the car start, but by the time he got downstairs, she
was gone. Michael says the clone can't drive. Josh says it obviously
didn't stop her. He tried to follow her, but lost her. Michael asks
if they had a fight, but Josh says no, although he notes that she was
edgy last night & this morning. Michael says it doesn't make sense.
Josh shows him something else that doesn't make sense: Reva's wedding
band. She wore it all the time, even though they weren't legally
married. Reva was wearing the ring when Annie abducted her. "You
cannot be thinking that Reva is still alive," says Michael.

Josh says he'd give anything for that, but he knows it's not
possible. But when he found it, he felt like Reva must be trying to
contact him in some way. Michael reminds Josh that the Coast Guard
said there was no way anyone could have survived the crash. Josh asks
how the ring could have wound up on the floor of his bedroom. Michael
says maybe she dropped it the morning she was abducted. Did Josh see
it on her finger that morning? Josh can't remember. He doesn't know
what to think. Michael says maybe the clone found it first & it
reminded her of Reva & that's why she took off. Josh insists that
Reva never took the ring off, even when she was cleaning. The only
way she would ever take it off is if she were... Josh stops, thinking
that Annie must have taken the ring from Reva.

LIGHTHOUSE: The clone leads the bound Reva down a rough wooden
staircase into a basement, bragging about her new-found driving
skills. Reva still has a blanket over her head. She says the clone
nearly got them both killed. The clone says Bud told her Reva was a
real daredevil, but she's just a big chicken. Reva doesn't like the
clone calling Josh "Bud," but the clone says if Reva can call him
that, so can she. Reva asks where they are. The clone removes the
blanket & informs Reva that they're in the lighthouse basement. Josh
took her to the beach one night & told her all about it. She came
back to check it out & found the cellar. She doesn't think anyone
else knows about it & the walls are 3 feet thick, so Reva can scream
all she wants & no one will ever hear her.

JAIL: Rick says Abby is being ridiculous. She says it's very hard to
explain. He asks her to try. She says that jail is different than the
outside world. You make connections very quickly and it's important
to know the right people, because they can keep you safe. Rick yells
that if she goes home, she'll be very safe. Abby says she can't just
think about herself. Selena has been a godsend to her and taught her
the ropes & defended her when she needed help. Abby says she has made
a promise to Selena & can't run out on her now. Rick asks what he has
to do to convince Abby to leave. Does he have to talk to a guard?
Abby says he mustn't do that.

COMPANY PORCH: Jesse says Michelle is being very quiet for someone
who wanted to talk. Michelle is having a hard time figuring out how
to say what she needs to say. Since she's gotten back to Springfield,
Jesse's made her feel "crowded." Jesse says he just wants to make up
for lost time. So does Michelle, but not in one week. Jesse's been
hovering over her & she hasn't been able to see her friends or
family. Jesse is offended. Michelle doesn't want him to be mad at
her. Jesse thinks Michelle is the one who's mad. She explains that at
the institute she learned how to be more independent & less needy.
Jesse asks if that means without him.

COMPANY: Ross asks Ben to explain himself. Ben considers himself a
good judge of people & thinks he knows Beth well enough to realize
she's not a cold-blooded killer. "And Abigail was?" asks Ross. Ben
says it's a case of apples & oranges. Abby shot a man in a courtroom
full of people. She could have asked someone for help, but she took
matters into her own hands. Ross says Abby panicked. Ben says Beth
was all alone when Carl came after her & was clearly acting in self-
defense. Beth thinks Ross shouldn't be questioning Ben's willingness
to be lenient. Ben goes on to mention how devastated Lizzie would be
if her mother were sent to prison. He sees no need for that to
happen. Drew interrupts to bring Ross a phone call. It's Blake. Ross
misses her so much & asks when she's coming home.

HARLEY'S: Harley & Phillip continue to kiss as they move toward the
couch. Just as they reach it, the phone rings. Phillip says they're
not home, but Harley insists on answering it & tells him to remember
where they are. The caller was from one of the police precincts, with
no news on finding J.C. Clayton. Harley goes back to Phillip & starts
to pull off his tie.

"Knock it off," says Frank, who entered without knocking. He says she
could go to jail for stealing police files. He shows her Carl's file,
which she asked to see yesterday, and which then mysteriously
disappeared from his office & magically reappeared this morning.
Harley plays innocent. "Stuff happens," she says. Frank asks for one
good reason why he shouldn't arrest both of them right now.

MICHAEL'S: Michael thinks Josh is reaching to think that Annie took
the ring from Reva & then came back to Springfield & left it in
Josh's house. He points out that Annie hasn't been seen in months.
Josh says maybe she's back & this is her way of telling him. Michael
asks why she would do that. "Because she's insane!" yells Josh.
Getting rid of Reva wasn't enough for Annie. She vowed that she'd
come back. "What if she sees the clone?" worries Michael. Josh says
they have to find the clone.

Buzz knocks on the door. Josh tells him this is not a good time.
They're in a hurry. "To do what?" asks Buzz. "Whip up another Reva?"

LIGHTHOUSE: Reva complains that her wrists hurt & asks the clone to
untie them. The clone refuses. Reva asks what they're doing here. The
clone says she needed someplace safe to put Reva. She couldn't keep
her in the house. Reva agrees that it would have been awkward. She
asks what the clone will do with her now. The clone says she's trying
to think. Reva doesn't believe the clone is really a clone. The clone
says Reva can believe whatever she wants; it's the truth. Reva says
Josh would never try to replace her. "But he did," replies the clone.

"And in the second place, you can't make a clone from an egg cell,"
continues Reva. "It has only half the necessary chromosomes." The
clone asks where Reva got her degree in genetics. Reva replies that
she picked it up along with her doctorate in quantum physics. She
suddenly realizes that the clone isn't a clone at all, but her
antimatter equivalent. The anti-Reva approaches Reva, who tries to
back away, but it's too late. The anti-Reva touches Reva's face and
both women disappear in a huge explosion that sends the lighthouse
rocketing off into space. Oops, updater fantasy.

The clone says Josh loves Reva very much & when he realized she was
dead, he couldn't face it & he couldn't face telling the kids, so he
had Michael make a duplicate to be a wife, mother & the love of his
life. Things were a little shaky at first, but they were finally
working out, and now Reva has to show up. Reva is incredulous. The
clone says Reva could ruin everything. Reva realizes that the clone
has feelings for Josh. "I'm madly in love with him," says the clone.
"So am I," says Reva. She suggests that all three of them should get
together & talk about this rationally. The clone refuses & says
there's no room in the family for 2 Revas. "There has to be another
way," says the clone. Reva can't think of one. The clone says Reva
has to leave Springfield & promise never to come back again. Reva
says she could never do that. The clone says she has no choice. Reva
says she couldn't bear to never see Josh or the kids again. The clone
says her other option is to lock Reva in the cellar & throw away the
key. No one will find her for years, if ever. Either way, she'll
never see her family again, so the only question is whether she wants
to be dead or alive. "All right," says Reva. She figures she has no
choice. She promises to leave Springfield & never come back.

JAIL: Abby begs Rick to trust her. If Rick talks to the guard, he
wouldn't understand. Rick is really angry. If Abby can't give him a
good reason, he's going to physically pick her up & remove her from
the jail. Abby says she loves him with all her heart. She's dying to
get out & Rick knows that, but she's made a promise to Selena & she
has a responsibility to keep it. Rick has to trust her. Rick says
fine, but she has to promise him that Selena isn't pressuring Abby
into anything. Abby assures him that it's all her idea. Selena
returns with the guard, who tells Rick he has to leave now. Rick
kisses Abby on the cheek & leaves.

Abby asks Selena if everything's set. Selena says yes. Abby says the
guard will never know what hit him.

COMPANY PORCH: Michelle assures Jesse that she doesn't want him out
of her life. She just thinks that they've been trying to cram so much
into so little time. Even before her accident, they had to have
everything right away. Jesse asks what's wrong with that. Michelle
says she's not sure they were as ready for marriage as they thought
they were. Jesse reminds her that they said their vows. Michelle says
it wasn't legal. Jesse guesses she doesn't want to make it legal
anytime soon. Michelle just doesn't want to rush into anything. They
have their whole lives ahead of them. Jesse thought they were going
to spend them together. Michelle just wants a chance for them to
really get a chance to know each other. Jesse says they already do.
But he realizes she doesn't want to be rushed & agrees. He promises
not to do anything she doesn't want him to do. And what he'd like to
do today is go somewhere together, maybe get back to where they were.
Michelle says they already are, but she's willing to go with him.

COMPANY: Ross finishes his phone call with Blake, telling her he
loves her & misses her & wants her home. He excuses himself & leaves.
Beth asks Ben if Ross believes him. Ben isn't sure, but he knows Ross
is smart enough to not refuse a gift. Beth hopes so, or she'll have
to get herself another lawyer. Ben says he doesn't think Beth is
going to jail. She thanks him. He asks why she looks sad. She says
it's not for herself. She knows what it's like to love someone you
can't have. Ben says he can handle it. Beth thanks him again, but
says Harley is still a problem, because she won't give up her
investigation. Beth has talked to her, but it's no use. Ben says
maybe they should visit her & try to change her mind.

HARLEY'S: Harley says Frank has no grounds to arrest her. Frank
recounts the scenario of how he thinks Harley got the file, & he's
pretty close to the mark. Harley says he has no case. Frank asks
whether he might find her fingerprints on the file if he checked.
Harley grabs the file from him as she replies, "You might." Frank
still wants to arrest Harley, and Phillip expresses his disbelief at
the situation. Frank asks what Phillip's doing there anyway. He
thought they were broken up, or was that just part of the act.
Phillip says they've reached a truce. Frank & Phillip start bickering
& Harley leaves them to it so she can answer the phone. It's a lead
on J.C. Clayton. When Frank hears her say "J.C." he perks up & gives
her the hairy eyeball, but Harley keeps talking about "J.C. Penney" &
promises to meet the caller there in half an hour to help her pick
out a wedding dress. She ends the call & looks at Frank innocently.

MICHAEL'S: Buzz closes the door behind him & tells Josh & Michael
that he saw someone who looked like Reva driving like a lunatic down
Long Ridge Lane. Josh asks how long ago it was. Buzz says it couldn't
have been the real Reva, because she was a very good driver & this
woman was all over the road. Either it was her first time behind the
wheel, or she was drunk, and Reva would never drive drunk. He tried
to flag her down & she just sped up. He wonders if Josh or Michael
can explain any of this. Josh asks if she was alone. Buzz asks what
difference it makes, if it wasn't Reva. "Or could it be that it was
her clone?" asks Buzz. Michael tells Buzz to drop it. Buzz asks if
the secret is out. Josh says there's no secret. So Buzz figures it
should be fine if he goes to the press & tells them everything they
say he doesn't know. Josh tells Buzz to go ahead, with his blessing.

LIGHTHOUSE: The clone asks Reva how she can be sure that she won't
come back. "You have my word," says Reva. The clone figures that's
not worth much. Reva reasons that the clone won't leave Springfield,
& seeing the two of them together would destroy Josh & the kids,
which she'd never do. So if the clone won't leave, Reva says she'll
have to. But she'll need money to get out of town & get started
someplace else. The clone thinks she can get Reva some cash. Reva
asks to be untied, but the clone won't do it. Reva says she can't get
on an airplane with her hands bound. The clone says she's not stupid.
Reva doesn't think she's stupid at all. But if the clone is really a
clone, then they have the same blood running through their veins,
like twins. If they're that close, Reva wants what the clone wants.

Reva says she wants to believe the clone's story, but it's hard to
believe something so far out. The clone realizes Reva wants proof of
her cloneness. The clone says Michael took pictures of her while she
was growing up & Josh said she looked exactly like Reva did from the
time she was a baby. Would the pictures convince Reva? Reva says
they'd help. The clone promises to get them. Reva asks to be untied
first, but the clone leaves her bound. She chains the iron-grilled
door closed & leaves. On her own, Reva laughs at the idea of a clone,
sure that the woman is crazy. She works on freeing her hands.

HARLEY'S: Frank asks who was on the phone. Harley claims it was
Lauren Lynn, a friend from high school. Frank doesn't think they sell
wedding dresses at J.C. Penney, but Harley says they have a huge
bridal department, and she has to be there in half an hour. She
pushes Frank out the door & promises to call him. Frank says he's not
playing games. She promises again to call him & shuts the door.

Phillip wisely guesses that the call was about J.C. Clayton. Turns
out the guy's in jail in Illinois, pretty close by. She suggests they
go see if he has an alibi for the night of the murder. They head for
the door & Phillip kisses Harley. "What was that for?" she asks. "I
just wanted to," he replies.

PRISON: Selena asks if Abby's getting cold feet. Abby says no, but
she doesn't like lying to Rick. Selena says she can tell him every-
thing when it's over. Meanwhile she should just think about Nathan,
the horrible guard, & what he wants to do to Abby & what he's already
done to every other woman there. Speak of the devil, he shows up &
asks Abby if she's still on for tonight. She says yes. Nathan wants
to move up the timetable, but Abby says there's no rush & antici-
pation is half the fun. Nathan's not too sure. Abby asks if he'd like
a preview to tide him over. "In front of your friend?" he asks. It
doesn't bother Selena if it doesn't bother Abby. In fact, she likes
to watch. Abby says it doesn't bother her. She starts kissing him.

While Nathan's occupied, Selena manages to slip a ring of keys off
his pants. He backs away from Abby & she asks what's wrong. He says
if she keeps it up, he won't be able to wait `til tonight. Abby says
they should wait & she'll see him later. He agrees & leaves. Once
he's gone, Abby wipes her mouth & Selena shows her the keys.

HARLEY'S: Beth & Ben walk down the hall toward Harley's apartment.
Beth says if Ben can convince Harley to drop the investigation, he's
better than she is. Ben says persuasion is his business. As they
reach the door, they hear Harley & Phillip on the other side, so they
scoot away.

Harley & Phillip walk out, laughing. Harley wipes some lipstick off
Phillip's face. They head down the hall, joking with each other. Beth
& Ben emerge. Ben is sorry she had to see them together. It must have
hurt. She cries on his shoulder & he comforts her.

MICHAEL'S: Buzz makes himself comfortable in the living room & Josh
sits too. Josh says if Buzz wants to believe that Reva's a clone,
it's fine with him. The problem is, no one will believe him. Buzz
says they'll have to. Josh says he has no evidence. Buzz asks if Josh
thinks he's the only person who has noticed that the clone is nothing
like the real Reva. He won't have to tell people; they'll figure it
out for themselves. Buzz wants to know the truth. Josh says Reva has
disappeared. Buzz says he means the clone has disappeared. Josh says
he means what he said & he thinks Annie may have her. "Annie Dutton?"
asks Buzz, with some concern.

Michael hears someone at the door & opens it to find the clone trying
to use her key. He asks what she's doing & takes the key from her.
Josh asks why she took off. The clone doesn't want to talk about it
with other people around. Buzz takes this as his cue to leave. He
tells the clone that if she needs to talk, she knows where to find
him. Josh gives the clone hell for taking off in the car when she
doesn't know how to drive. She says it was really fun. Josh yells
that Buzz saw her & she almost ran him down & almost killed herself.
The clone says if he keeps yelling, she won't talk to him at all.
Josh says she will, and she'll start by telling him where the ring
came from. He shows it to her.

LIGHTHOUSE: Reva climbs on a stool & yells toward a high window for
help. She falls to the floor, where she finds a little notepad. She
opens it & finds a couple of pages full of little hearts & adolescent
stuff like "Mrs. Joshua Lewis." Reva vows that she won't let the
clone get away with this.

Outside, Michelle says she guessed that this was where Jesse would
bring her. It's "their" place, or was. Jesse asks if it can be again.
Michelle isn't sure. She just wants to take things slow. Jesse says
for her, he'll go any speed she wants. He hugs her.

In the cellar, Reva yells again for help. "I am Reva Shayne," she
declares, as the screen fades to black.
