GUILDING LIGHT UPDATE - FRIDAY, MAY 31, 1996

AT THE BEACH: Matt places their blanket down on the sand while Vanessa
looks out at the water. The night breeze sets the mood. Van says that some
couples have a special restaurant, or a special song, and that they have
their special place, here at the beach. Matt says "And it's going to last
forever, just like us".

PENTHOUSE: Dinah is tossing and turning in her sleep; stressing through a
nightmare. A mysterious shadow man appears at her window and starts to come
in.

SPAULDING MANSION: All are gathered in the livingroom. The tension is high
while everyone waits for news about the storm, the Rising Star, and "the
kids". Reva confronts Alan about 5th-Street. Everyone jumps in and argues.
Phillip looks on while Amanda waxes angry at having found Reva in Alan's
study, going through his desk. Alex waves her arms and shouts for everyone
to stop fighting. That they should be thinking about Lucy and A-M, and not
fighting about 5th-Street.

YACHT: A-M struggles under the weight of the equipment that has him trapped
in the rising water. Lucy tries desperately to hold his head up. The ship
rocks back and forth with the terror of the storm. Lucy is desperate as A-M
begins to lose his strength and consciousness. A-M tells Lucy she must use
the water pump on the wall. She has to start pumping and keep it up, or
they'll go under. Lucy is exhausted, while A-M yells above the storm and
reminds her that they've gotten through everything else, they can get through
this too. Lucy is pumping, pumping. A loud noise sends the ship reeling, as
Lucy is thrown onto A-M, sinking him under water.

BACK AT THE MANSION: Phillip trys to calm them, while Amanda acts as the
defending daughter to daddy-who-needs-me. Alex accuses Amanda of
grandstanding.  Reva stops the action and states in a strong quiet voice;
"This whole thing started because of a woman, and everyone knows that woman
is me ... and now it's high time that I put a stop to it."

PENTHOUSE BEDROOM: Dinah is still tossing in bed when THE NEW HART (wow!)
startles her out of the nightmare. She's so glad to see him. "You've got to
get a grip" he says to her. She is convinced that she's going insane
because of the drug Roger has been poisoning her with. Hart says the
chemist pinpointed the drug as "Lonotran" (sp?). Dinah says it's too late
for anything, that she has permanent brain damage from the unlawful,
unliscensed, psycho-drug! Hart tells her that the chemist said there is no
antidote for the deadly drug that only super-secret-agents use.

BOARDING HOUSE CAFE: We see Roger knocking on the open window screen and
then at the door; upset and demanding entrance. Bridget lets him in and
watches in amazement as he rants and raves. There's nothing wrong with him,
he says. He just wants to see his grandson! She tells him he's nuts, or he
has been drinking. "I'm not nuts (he yells) there is nothing wrong with me!"
Bridget says he's to come back tomorrow when Peter is awake. Roger starts
crying and lamenting to her that he loves his family - he always has. Loves
Peter, Chrissy ..... and Hart, in spite of what he's done. Bridget looks
on in amazement, "Of course you do". "Don't patronize me!" says Roger. "I
don't set up to torment people! But they torment me! I want to set things
right with Hart, even though I said I was going to kill him ... I didn't
mean it. WHY can't he love me back!"

PENTHOUSE BEDROOM: Hart tells a relieved Dinah that he's found out that
Roger didn't give her the drug long enough to cause her any permanent damage.
She's so relieved, and she shows him just how much.

AT THE MANSION: Alan tries to ignore Reva's confrontation, "I don't have
time for parlour games!" In front of everyone, Reva tells Alan that he was
just trying to get even with her; that he wanted to teach her a lesson; "Be
honest with me, Alan". Buzz looks on with pride and love for his spunky
wife. Alan says he may have wanted to get even once; "But now I'm
different". Reva says it's hogwash, and that he wanted to get even with Buzz
too. She apologizes for hurting him, and asks him to stop trying to hurt
them.

AT THE BEACH: Matt tells Van they should take a dip in the water. They
don't have swimsuits. They'll have to improvise, she says.

RISING STAR PUMP ROOM: ..... pumping, pumping, pumping. A-M yells for
Lucy to go back up to the cabin and try to radio for help. She won't leave
him. "Just go up and do it!" he yells. She finally goes out and struggles
up the stairs. A-M prays to God to please keep his Lucy safe. He's
exhausted. We see his hand slowly let go of the rail, as he slips under the
water.

AT THE MANSION: Amanda tries to look good in front of Alan. Buzz cuts her
short and says "Put a sock in it Kitten, this is between my wife and your
ol' man". Reva pleads to Alan that he could now show himself to be the man
she knew in Goshen. He looks coldly at her and asks "What exactly are you
offering me?" She wants peace now, it's the only thing worth having. He
asks her about her future - is her future with Buzz? Reva says "Yes, I
made the choice to marry him, and I know now it was the right choice. We
understand and accept eachother. Buzz and I belong together". Let go of the
hurt, she pleads.

IN DINAH'S BEDROOM: Hart reassures Dinah that it's all going to work out
tomorrow. They hug and kiss, and then Hart tucks her in bed as he gets ready
to leave by way of the window. She asks him to stay.

BOARDING HOUSE CAFE: Roger sits at the bar, unloading his frantic thoughts
to poor Bridget. She doesn't know what's with him. She wants to finish
getting ready so she can go out partying. She comes back in the room and
asks him how he likes her outfit. He notices her perfume. It's THE perfume.
He accuses her of being in league with Hart; trying to drive him mad. He
says too much and she counters with "You need to GET OUT". He presses
further, and she says that he's just mad because his slutty wife is in
cahoots with Hart. Roger flips with this remark and storms out the door
ranting that Dinah is working with Hart against him. Bridget realizes that
she's made a BIG mistake.

AT THE BEACH: Matt and Van run up from the water, naked and dripping wet
from their skinny-dipping. They wrap eachother in towels and lie down. She
talks to him about her father and his judgement of Matt being right for her.
She tells him that this was Daddy's legacy - that you could loose a person,
but you would never lose the love. He promises that he will always be there
for her, his whole life long.

SHIP'S PUMP ROOM: Lucy comes back down and tells A-M that the radio is not
working - there's nothing she can do. She tries to dry his face and keeps
kissing him. He sends her out again, only this time, the pump room door has
lodged closed. She struggles frantically, but it won't open.

DINAH'S BEDROOM: Hart kisses her on the forehead and then on the lips.
It's a GL moment, fraught with meaning. Unbeknownst to the two ...

Downstairs, Roger returns home. He quietly looks at the photos on the
livingroom wall. He takes down the picture of Dinah and looks at it.

Back upstairs, Dinal asks Hart if he really has to go now? There is deep,
quiet understanding between the two. He kisses her again, asking "Are you
sure?"

Downstairs, Roger takes the photo and holds it as he slowly climbs the
stairs. He looks determined, and definitely crazy.

SPAULDING'S: Alex yells at Reva that she has humiliated Alan in front of
the whole family. Reva cries as Buzz tells her to go back to their home.
Alex says Buzz should go to - that she will call him when they get any
news. Amanda notices that Daddy has gone. Alex says that Amanda doesn't
really know her father after all, and that he has gone off to find his son.

SPAULDING JET: Alan sits and looks out the window. He's thinking deep
thoughts. "Hang on, Alan-Michael - I'm not going to let you down".

AT THE SHIP: Lucy holds the fading A-M. Tears streaming down her face, and
water all around, she lifts her face to heaven and pleads "Nadine, if you're
up there, please, please send someone to help us!" Fade out on the
desperately desperate Lucy.
