Sorry this is so late. I've just moved into a new apartment and you
know how things can get...I probably will not be able to do next
Monday's update. If someone else can volunteer to sub, that would be
wonderful. :)

It's Loud, Ugly Clothing Day in Springfield, USA...

BOARDINGHOUSE: The party has mysteriously ended, but it's later the
same night. Lucy enters the kitchen in robe and slippers, finding no
one present. She opens the fridge. A loud noise outside startles her
and she jumps. Aloud, she reassures herself that everything's OK.

ROADHOUSE: Brent apologizes to Mindy (wearing Loud Ugly Pattern #1) for
their last "date." He can't stop thinking about her. In the background,
Buzz (Loud Ugly Pattern #2) continues to give Brent the evil eye.

SPAULDING RESIDENCE: Alan accuses Alex of deliberately trying to ruin
his date with Tangie. She, of course, denies all. He corrects her
grammar (Go, Alan!) and they trade insults: he's a pompous know-it-
all, she's a spoiled brat. Alan tells his sister she can't stand to
see Alan with any woman while she herself is lonely.

ROUTE 27: Police lights flash while cops, firefighters and reporters
mill around. Gilly is giving a live report. Apparently a car hit a
tree, jumped a guardrail and plunged 80-some feet into the Springfield
River. It it still unknown whether anyone was in the car, but Roger's
wallet was found at the scene. Divers are searching the river. The
cops request that all drivers detour around the area. The fog is
thick.

Enter Holly, distraught. She asks a cop if Roger is OK. The cop asks
if she's his wife? Fletch looks on.

Roll Lighthouse.

Holly says no, she's Rog's ex-wife. The cop tells her no one has been
found, they don't even know for sure that it was Roger's car.

Enter Stu, the Journal's photographer. He tells Fletch he couldn't get
close to the divers. Fletch orders him to find out if Rog was in the car.

Gilly reassures Holly: someone could have stolen Rog's wallet, etc.
Gilly asks Fletch to help get some info out of the cops. Fletch comforts
Holly, but she shouts that it's all her fault.

MARLER RESIDENCE: Blake and Ross are preparing for bed, discussing
their troubles with Dinah and Holly. They have the TV on and hear the
news from Gilly. Naturally, Blake runs out like the proverbial bat. Ross
follows.

SPAULDING RESIDENCE: Alex is waiting for the "appropriate" man. "I'm not
going to throw myself at the pool man or the carpenter like Vanessa did,
and I'm not going to trot down to the Roadhouse and chat up with some
waiter." She reminds Alan of when they were teens, and he talked her
into cutting class, skipping dates, etc, just to keep Alan company, and
then when his pals called he dumped her. She yells at him some more,
while he chuckles tolerantly to himself. Finally he speaks up, saying he
was sparing her feelings, because she's jealous of his time to himself.
She calls Tangie "this girl with the ridiculous name" and reminds Alan of
the many men to whom the Tangster has been romantically linked,
including AM. Alan says Tangie is a great person, if Alex got to know
her, she'd like her. He tells her she has to control herself. Enter Ginger
with the news about Roger.

BOARDINGHOUSE: Lucy admits Nadine (Loud Ugly Pattern #3) but isn't in the
mood for company. She knows that Nadine knows (about Brent), and can't bear
to face her. Nadine just has one thing to do before she goes: "Your nails."

If you're trying to name a baby, you better have MCI. (?)

BAUER RESIDENCE: Eve is hanging up the phone, and picks up her (still
unsigned) living will. Enter Ed. Eve was talking to Lillian: Cynthia,
the old woman from the hospital, died. Eve really wants to get her
living will done. She's very scared of being hooked up to a machine.
Ed apologizes for overreacting earlier, and they agree to do it first
thing in the morning. Eve has ice-cream cravings. He leaves to get
some, blowing her a kiss.

CRASH SITE: Fletch tells Holly it's not her fault; she's upset because of
the things she said to Rog. She asks Fletch to find out what's going on.
He reluctantly leaves her, saying he has a feeling everything will be OK.
He asks Levy to tell him what's up, "strictly personal." Levy says the
car was going realllly fast; we can tell this from skid marks.

Enter Blake and Ross; the women hug.

Gilly starts another report....switch to the Spauldings. They watch in
fascination as Levy tells Gilly they found the car; the driver's door
is missing and no one is around. They're not absolutely sure it's
Roger's car, although it's the same make. We see Tangie and Fletch
and Stu in the background. Alan turns off the sound. Alex looks stunned.
"Could this really be the end of Roger?" Alan asks if she's OK.
Ginger, still glued to the screen, says "of course she's not all right,
she was married to the man." Alex thanks her for the reminder ;) and
dismisses her. Ginger takes a moment to get the clue. Exit Ginger.

Alan and Alex agree that the world might be better off with Roger gone,
but they'll "restrain our glee" till they're sure. Alex tries to turn off
the TV, but Alan sees Tangie and stops her, then gets up to leave, saying
he just wants to offer his help. "Don't get too wet," Alex advises. Exit
Alan. Alex stares at the TV for a moment, then turns it off.

Watch the season finale of Chicago Hope!

ROADHOUSE: Buzz watches Brent and Mindy flirt (he gives her a rose, she
calls him sexy). Brent can't understand why people get married. "If
marriage is the punchline," he doesn't get the joke. He asks her to
dance. Buzz walks up to them and stares at Brent. Mindy greets him
cheerfully. Buzz leaves. Mindy calls hello to Frank; Brent rolls his
eyes and asks Mindy to go somewhere quieter. She doesn't want to leave
yet; there's "good energy" here.

Eleni arrives, looking for Frank. She wants to talk to him about Lucy.
She sees Brent by following Frank's glare, and pulls Frank outside.

BOARDINGHOUSE: Nadine does Lucy's nails, asking her what shape (square or
round? Nadine picks oval), what color (ballet slipper pink, precious
pink...teardrop: "It's pale...sort of like tears.") Lucy says Nadine
should choose, it doesn't matter. Nadine says it does matter: there are
some things we can't control, so when we do get a chance...Lucy gets the
point. Let's pick a color. Nadine suggests starting with "You'll be happy
again" pink, with a base of "I promise" under it. And under that, "be
strong, so that you can grow." Lucy, of course, sees right through
this. "But you've got to start taking better care of... " "My nails,
yes." "Of yourself." Nadine tells her she's beautiful and sweet; Lucy
says she's not either anymore. She wishes she hadn't said anything to
anyone. Nadine tells her she's the same person, and they all still
love her, including AM. "We all see the way he looks at you. He cares
about you." Lucy jumps up and exclaims that it's too late. She and AM can
never be "like that."

CRASH SITE: Sid enters as Tangie and Gilly are talking. After saying
hello to Gilly, he talks to Tangie; she says she's not here as a
reporter, just as a friend. Sid reassures her that Rog will be OK, the
cops are looking for him. Tangie says no, they're looking for a corpse.
She looks very upset. Gilly can't believe this is happening just when she
and Rog were making peace.

Blake tells Ross it's obvious that Roger's not dead, because they would
have found him by now. Her theory is that Dad became unbuckled and is
wandering around somewhere hurt. Fletch and Ross leave the women to talk
to Levy again.

Levy tells them that Forensics found blood and are testing it. Fletch asks
what are Roger's chances? "I think he's a goner." Levy advises them to take
the ladies home; they shouldn't be here when the body is found. (I
can't believe this sexist crap. Sorry, editorial comment)

Gilly asks a man if he saw the accident. It's Viktor; he shakes his
head and leaves. Ross asks Gilly who that was and stares after him....

Season finale of The Nanny...best of Murphy Brown...Must be sweeps
month!

BAUER HOME: Eve and Michelle play Scrabble. Eve only has vowels. She
adds them to the board to make "moo." Michelle makes fun of her.
(Another word already on the board is "waorm.") Michelle adds letters to
make "Moon" and "Never." She's on a double-letter score. Eve puts a hand
to her forehead and Michelle jumps up to get Eve's medicine. Left
alone, Eve stares at the word "never," then up at a photo of her and
Ed.

BOARDINGHOUSE: Nadine gently sits Lucy down and makes her soak her hands.
Nadine re-engages pep talk: Buzz Cooper's daughter wouldn't let a
slimeball destroy her life; it'll be much worse if Lucy lets him have
that kind of power over her, etc. Then Deenie drops the bombshell: "I
know...because the same thing happened to me." Lucy looks stunned,
then tells Nadine she doesn't have to talk about it, but N wants to.

Nadine tells about when she left Frank and Harley and went to Hollywood
to be a star. She met a nice-seeming, "tall and blonde and hunky" guy
named Phil who said he had a brother who was an talent agent, and Phil
was going to introduce Nadine to him. Nadine pauses...she's never told
anyone about this. She describes the event, and it's exactly like
Lucy's experience with Brent: Nice apartment...alcohol...soft music...
kissing...he seems nice at first, but it gets to be too much...she says
no...he won't stop...Lucy starts to cry again as the similarities hit
her. Nadine says she wanted to die, but managed to go on, and Lucy will
too. She's strong, she has the love of the Cooper family, now she has
to love herself and fight for the life she wants.

OUTSIDE ROADHOUSE: Eleni doesn't want any trouble. She trusts Frank,
although some people think he can't handle it. As soon as she mentions
Lucy, Frank figures it all out. He can't believe he let people convince
him not to do anything. "I'm gonna kill him." Eleni grabs him and tries
to stop him; Lucy doesn't want more violence. Frank pulls the macho
bullshit out again ("Nobody touches my sister!") and starts to storm
inside. Buzz stops him. "You're not gonna touch him. He's mine." Woo!!!

Why use plastic for tampon insertion, when there's cardboard?

SPAULDING RESIDENCE: Alex gets drunk as Levy explains to Gilly how the
skidmarks tell how fast the car was going (waaaaay fast). Alex sees Alan
in the background and starts making fun of him, then sees Tangie and turns
off the TV, muttering about Tangie not caring if Roger's dead, "neither do
I. Bet Holly does. Bet Fletcher doesn't care that Holly does." Ginger
enters, about to go to bed, to see if Alex wants anything. Alex only needs
her alcohol. Ginger looks concerned, tells her to holler if she needs
anything. Alex paces, then makes an anguished face and hurls her glass
into the TV.

CRASH SITE: Alan tells Tangie he's gotten the DA and chief of police to
let her "move freely." He saw her on TV looking vulnerable, and came to
be a friend. She thanks him. She's grateful for everything he's done for
her. (Gag.) He's glad he didn't scare her away with the plane fiasco. He
leaves.

Ross tells Blake he's taking her home. She doesn't want to leave. Ross
says that if Roger finds a phone, he'll call them first, they should be
home. Blake is grateful that Ross is talking about Rog like he's alive,
although she knows Ross dopesn't really think it. They hug.

Fletch sees Tangie crying and asks how she's dealing. She feels like
she's dreaming the whole thing. She wipes off her face and asks him to
put her to work. He gives her his notes and tells her to find Stu and
do the story. He has to be with Holly. They thank each other. He goes
to hug Holly. Blake watches, looking less than thrilled.

BAUER RESIDENCE: Ed returns. A hysterical Michelle tells him she found
Eve unconscious and called 911. The paramedics have taken her away.
Father and daughter head for their car. Close-up of the still unsigned
living will, next to the photo.

What do you get when tou combine tangerines, pineapple, grapes and
passionfruit? Bet it's not really a juice. ;)

BOARDINGHOUSE: Lucy cries as Nadine continues her pep talk. Pretty soon
Lucy will realize she hasn't thought about it for a day...a week...a
month...etc. Nadine promises that some day it'll all be just a bad memory
and hugs her.

OUTSIDE ROADHOUSE: Buzz pushes Frank around a bit to get his attention,
and then tells him to take Eleni home and then go make Lucy laugh. Frank
is still itching to smash Brent's face in. (Or other parts of him.) "We do
this my way," Buzz declares. Buzz goes back inside and resumes the evil-
eye treatment.

CRASH SITE: Ross asks Fletch if he thinks Roger is really dead. Fletch
certainly doesn't. "He's too mean to die." They hug their respective women.
Fade out.

That's All Folks!!
