Guiding Light Update
Friday, April 25

             by Viv

Jenna and Buzz arrive at the courthouse. Jenna is dressed to kill
poor Judge Hopkins in a short black dress and elegant jacket. Buzz
wants to know if she is sure about doing this, and gives her a kiss
on the nose for luck. She announces that it's showtime and knocks on
 the door.

Vanessa is writing a letter to Matt by speaking to her computer.
She's talking to her absent husband, not her new internet friend. Her
voice is soft and reflective as she reports on her progress. She
tells Matt how she can now see, use her hands again, and may soon be
walking on her own. Her physical therapist, Michael, has told her
that someday he will to walk with her by the lake. She recalls Matt
becoming angry with her once for driving too fast to one of Bill's
soccer games, and it saddens her when she realizes he was afraid of
losing her. Michael appears with his bag of tricks.

Dinah arrives to meet with Matt about the plans for Vanessa's wing.
She's depressed that Hart hasn't called her, but Matt promises to
cheer her up. The doorbell rings and it's the charmer himself. He
seems as surprised to see Dinah as she does to see him.

Reva asks Wanda to give a message to Josh and, after hanging up,
promises to wring Annie's lying little neck. Abby stops any further
sisterly musings by popping in to study. Reva relates that she hasn't
been able to find Josh and the kids, and has left a message at Cross
Creek. She doesn't know where else to look. Ever-positive Abby says
that once Reva does find Josh, they will be together for the rest of
 their lives.

Meanwhile, Alan is helping Annie, complete with lying little neck,
into an exam room in a clinic. The nurse thinks she should be in a
hospital, but of course that won't happen. They pretend to be husband
and wife when Annie gives the nurse a false name. The doctor will be
there as soon as someone can cover for him. In the meantime the nurse
attempts to listen to the baby's heartbeat, but Annie grabs the
instrument away from her to listen for herself. There is no sound and
 Annie begins to panic.

Dinah and Hart didn't expect to run into each other, and soon find
out that Matt arranged for the two of them to meet. Dinah calls him
on it, but Matt just seems amused.

Michael inquires after "cyberboy" and their correspondence and
Vanessa pretends to take offense. She wants to work on strengthening
her legs. They discuss a little of Michael's past. He played
basketball in high school, and was in pre-med before becoming a
physical therapist. They move on to Matt, and she says that Michael
reminds her of him. She drew strength from him. Michael thinks she's
 pretty strong right now.

Jenna introduces herself to the judge and asks if she can make
herself comfortable. He unwittingly says yes, and she tosses off her
coat and sits on his desk, causing the man's suspenders to nearly
pop. He would like to know why she is here, but doesn't seem to mind
the interruption. Jenna explains that it's important that she and
Jeffrey go to England together to be with his sick mother. He thinks
he can rule on their case by the end of the day. Jenna gets closer
and says she can be grateful in ways that even he doesn't know are
 legal.

Abby tries to calm Reva with tea, but it doesn't appear to be
working. Reva uses some colorful phrases to describe what she'd like
to do to Annie. She vents her anger at almost giving up her children
and the only man she ever loved. She also suspects that Alan was
involved in the deception. Abby thinks that Reva is a good and loving
person and has a right to be upset with Annie. She also thinks that
Annie must feel ashamed of her actions, but Reva disagrees.

Annie is full of anxiety, and happy when the doctor finally arrives.
He does a sonogram and asks when the last time she felt the baby
move. He then tells her that he can't find a heartbeat. Does she want
to spend a few minutes with her "husband" before they discuss the
situation? Annie becomes angry and accuses the doctor of not knowing
his business, suggesting possible reasons the heartbeat hasn't show
up. Her attitude is angry and belligerent and she demands that the
doctor tell her that her baby is alive and healthy. He doesn't seem
to be able to do that.

Matt, Dinah and Hart are going over the plans, but Matt is the only
one who seems interested. Hart explains that because of his argument
with Dinah, he hasn't been able to concentrate all week. Dinah
concurs, and they start to talk. Matt makes a quick exit in the name
of love. They agree that being apart is wrong, and hug and make up.
When Dinah says that Bridget taking Peter away was no big deal, it
 starts another argument.

The judge is insulted that Jenna should attempt to bribe him with
sex. She claims to only be grateful for anything he can do for her,
and blocks his way in front of his door. Outside, Buzz hopes for the
best and is propositioned by a woman in handcuffs. She is escorted
away. Buzz turns and sees Jeffrey. He hides just in time. The lady is
back and Buzz gives her a wad of money to make Jeffrey her next
victim. As Buzz looks on unseen, she approaches Jeffrey and pretends
 to know him.

Reva is upset and pacing, wishing she could tell Joshua the truth and
thinks she'll need solid evidence to prove it to him. Abby can't
believe she needs to prove anything, but what Annie has done is so
farfetched, Reva wonders if Josh will believe her story. Annie must
have had other people to help her with her scheme, and Reva thinks of
Fran. Abby is skeptical, but Reva rushes to the phone to check it
 out.

Annie refuses to believe that her baby is dead. She listens as Alan
encourages her to be positive. Another sonogram machine is brought
in, and the news isn't good. She insists that her baby is alive, but
the doctor confirms that the baby has died. Annie is devastated. The
doctor recommends that he induce labor so that infection doesn't set
in. He leaves to set it up, and Annie cries for her loss.

Hart and Dinah continue to fight. When their voices are raised, Matt
comes in and says he needs their help with something.

Jeffrey insists that he doesn't know the lady of the night. The judge
and Jenna come into the hallway and discuss her case. He says he has
made a decision. Instead of shortening her probation he has decided
to make her stay in Springfield. Jeffrey, on the other hand, may
return to mumsy. Jenna pretends to be shocked. As she walks away,
Buzz grabs her and pulls her down the hall. The prostitute tells
Jeffrey that Saturday nights haven't been the same without him.

Jeffrey visits the judge. He is worried about his mother's failing
health and would like to return to England. The judge disappoints him
by telling him that Mrs. Morgan will not be going anywhere for a long
time. Jeffrey politely thanks him and leaves. He just misses seeing
Jenna and Buzz kiss as their elevator doors close.

Matt just wants his helpers to carry something into the house for
him. They go to the greenhouse (or possibly the potting shed), and he
locks them in together. He tells them to work things out and leaves.

Reva prepares to visit Fran. Abby tries to believe that Fran is a
good person, but Reva wonders if there are any good people left. If
Fran is good, she may want to lift the burden of lies from herself.
 Reva leaves to find out.

Alan calls to Annie and she lets him in. When he asks about the test
results, Annie takes the bizarre road once again. She says that there
was difficulty in finding the baby's heartbeat at first, but all is
well. Alan believes her and is relieved. She feels that since the
baby is okay everything will be fine and she won't lose Josh.
