                        GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE
                          TUESDAY APRIL 23

Cedars Neonatal Unit:
Fletcher and Holly are cooing and billing in high pitched voices with Meg.
Enter Lillian with the news that Meg's vital signs are now stable and she
can go home today.

Ed's Office:
Rick perseverates about Blake's babies and their paternity. He asks Ed for
advice, but Ed's not sure he will want to hear what he has to say.

Some other room at Cedars:
Blake and Annie continue their discussion about Blake's babies and their
paternity. Blake wants Rick off her back and feels guilty whenever she's
with Ross. Finally, she realizes how absurd it is to be sharing these
feelings with Rick's ex-wife.

Meals & Wheels Diner:
Reva's sharpening knives and obsessing about her earlier discussion with
Annie re: Reva's plan to fix everything for Maura. Buzz tries to reassure
her then goes off to count cans. Enter Josh with "something you (Reva)
want." Reva asks if he wants to see Buzz, who appears on cue. Josh has
been busy with his homework of checking up on Advantage Systems. Buzz says
thanks but we already know who it is--Alan Spaulding. Enter Hawk, hoping
to interfere but finally settling for a free meal. They slap a menu in his
hand and dismiss him. Josh makes snide comments to Reva.

Some room at Cedars:
More Blake-Annie drivel. Annie, referring to Blake as "sweetie," promises
not to reveal what Blake has told her, but adds that based on her own
experiences with secrets, Blake had better 'fess up to Ross herself.

Ed's Office:
Again Rick asks for help, claiming he respects his father's advice. Ed
deplores that Rick didn't use protection (Rick pipes up with his excuses)
and says remember we're talking about my best friend and a woman I consider
a daughter. He reminds Rick how excited Ross is about the babies. He
advises walk away--it NEVER happened.

Neonatal Unit:
More high pitched baby talk with Folly and Lillian. Enter Griffin (for no
discernible reason I could fathom). Fletcher introduces him to Margaret
Meredith Lindsey-Reade. More love-in chat until Holly and Lillian exit to
discuss feeding schedules.

Ed's Office:
Rick is appalled by Ed's suggestion, remaining obsessed with his "flesh and
blood." He still wants to know and thinks Blake does, too. Ed inquires
what he intends to do if the kids are his??? Rick counters what if they
look like me??? Ed maintains that the children deserve two parents who
love each other and them. Ed's way only Rick gets hurt. He also reminds
Rick of the Meredith/Philip situation. (Rick married Meredith even though
she was pregnant by Philip; the baby later died and Meredith (Fletcher's
sister) left town.)

Diner:
Buzz reminds Josh that Reva is Mrs. Cooper and to back off with the rude
remarks. Josh jokes about confusing Reva with Liz Taylor...is she married
now or not? who knows? Buzz and Reva are not amused. Josh gets a call
from city hall confirming that the people who shut down the Fifth Street
Lewis Construction project and the diner are one and the same. Griffin
Williams is on his way over to assist. Buzz agrees the neighborhood is
more important than arguing with Josh so he agrees to work with Griff.
Buzz goes off to accomplish something while Reva and Josh exchange more
snide remarks. Enter Matt, Frank and Eleni ready for the Fifth Street
rally. Hawk, aside to Reva, tells her she still loves Josh. She says
Cross Creek never happened and put a tube sock in it!

Outside the Neonatal Unit:
Fletch and Griff are removing their visit-Meg-in-the-hospital garb. Fletch
again thanks Griff for their talk with God last week. Enter Gilly, who
informs Fletch she's now working for Griff. She agrees to meet Griff at
the diner and goes off to do an errand while the men enthuse about the
miracles of prayer.

Vivian's Office:
Enter Gilly, who has been summoned by Mom. Vivian is still angry that
Gilly's working for Griff and rants to her daughter about loyalty to one's
mother. Gilly carries on about Griff in full admiration mode, admitting
that she's attracted to him.

Another room at Cedars:
Annie and Blake debate the merits of secrecy. Annie refuses to intercede
with Rick on Blake's behalf, making Blake wonder if Annie and Rick still
have a thing for each other. Annie denies all, it's just that she no
longer has any clout. Blake tries to bribe Annie with a promise of being
named the twin's godmother, but Annie isn't moved. She finally explains to
Blake that Rick has a "thing" about becoming a father. She urges Blake to
take the test and know all the facts. Blake's still afraid of the truth.

Ed's Office:
Rick claims he's not interested in his stud farm rating, but he just can't
(translation: won't) walk away from his moral responsibility. Ed pleads:
LET IT GO! Rick's concerned about all his past mistakes, especially when
he falsified Philip's medical records. Ed reiterates: LET IT GO!
Children are what's important here, and there's much more to fatherhood
than biology. Swallow your hurt and WALK AWAY.

Diner:
Buzz wants to make sure Reva's survived Josh's comments. Soon three or
four neighborhood people arrive, prepared for Griffin's rally.

Vivian's Office:
Mom and daughter continue to argue with Vivian claiming she's not an
interfering mother yet offering no concrete information about why Gilly
should stay away from Griff. (Editorial note: Gilly used to be a very
intelligent woman...it seems to me she might logically begin to put the
pieces together at this point, but it would seem TPTB have opted for stupid
pills instead.) Exit Gilly and enter Holly. Vivian is extremely
distraught by her own situation and seems near breaking. She asks Holly to
help her keep Gilly away from Griff. Holly is curious: she admires
Gilly's determination and is confused by Viv's request.

Diner:
Griff is in full preaching mode ranting against Advantage Systems. Enter
Gilly. He begs the residents not to sell out to this company for less than
what their property is really worth. Gilly's smitten from the sidelines.

Corridor at Cedars:
Rick and Blake pass each other. They both apologize for their recent
behaviors, each careful to avoid looking directly at the other. They
wonder where they go from here?

Nurses' Locker Room (?):
Enter Hawk, determined to cause at least one person trouble today. He
claims to be amazed by how strong she is despite knowing everything that
happened between Josh and Reva at Cross Creek. She's tired of his
innuendoes and challenges him to tell all and be done with it. He lets her
know in no uncertain terms that Josh still loves Reva.

Diner:
Griff has completed his speech. He turns, bumping into Gilly and making
her drop some papers. They both bend down to retrieve them as their hands
clasp and eyes lock.

Viv's Office:
Vivian tearfully admits that Griff is Gilly's father. Freeze frame on
Vivian's fearful face.
