GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE FOR FRIDAY APRIL 12, 1996

			written by Sharon Epstein
			directed by Bruce S. Barry

	MARLER'S

Ross asks Blake to choose his tie. Blake chooses one and tries to get him
to hurry to Vanessa's for the reading of Henry's will. Ross asks about
her schedule. Blake has some errands and a sonogram to go to. Ross wants
to go with Blake and wonders if Vanessa would postpone the reading. Blake
doesn't want him to do that. Ross wants to be in on the miracle from the
beginning. He doesn't think it's too early to find out the due date and
the date of conception, "You were dying to know that and now I am too."

	BOARDINGHOUSE

J comes down the stairs making guitar noises, then starts juggling some
fruit. Knock on door. It's Michelle. She wants to give J a ride to
school. J tells her that with any luck he won't have to go back to
school, he'll be in France driving a red car. He tells her that his
grandaddy's will is being read today.

	VANESSA'S

Dinah arrives. Vanessa asks about Roger. Dinah says he wasn't invited,
but they're still together. Roger is in New York and they're happy
together. She asks why would Vanessa think differently. Vanessa says she
was just being awkward. She goes to get Peter. Dinah accuses Matt of
telling Vanessa.

	MARLER'S

Blake tells Ross it won't be the only sonogram she has. Ross is convinced
that the baby was conceived "the morning after I came back from that
battle with Amanda. It was the morning after Rick rescued you." Blake,
"How could I forget?" Ross, "You were wonderful. You forgave me. And
when we made love, Honey, it was magical." Blake doesn't think it was
that time. Ross thinks that it was 7 weeks ago. Blake tells him that she
conceived more recently and is barely pregnant. Ross wonders why they
can't reschedule the sonogram. Blake says Margaret is busy for weeks and
tells him to concentrate on the reading of Henry's will. She promises to
tell him everything about the sonogram. Ross leaves.

	CEDARS

Fletch talks to his little "Meg-pie". Rick walks in and listens. Rick
looks at Meg and tells Fletch that she looks like she came through the
surgery ok. Fletch says that the doctors told him that she'll be fine if
she continues to rest and get stronger. Fletch feels like the Chicago
Bears have been scrimmaging on his heart, he was so scared. "You know
what it's like to lose a child, Rick, so do I. For about 30 seconds, I
was afraid to take a chance on old Meg. She reached out and grabbed my
heart and she wouldn't let go. You can get through all the pain and you
can get to live all this joy all over again."

	BOARDINGHOUSE

J tells Michelle he's going to Tahiti this summer and will buy a
windsurfer. He invites her along. He wants to teach her how to windsurf
in the kitchen. He stands behind her and and asks her to pretend. Nola
walks in and suggests he put his hands on a tie. J tells Nola that after
he gets his inheritance today she won't have him to kick around anymore.
Nola, "Is that what you think of your grandfather's memory? His money?"
J says it's not the money, it's the freedom. He goes upstairs for a tie.

Nola, "He's cute, isn't he?" Michelle, "He's kinda cool." Nola, "I think
of you as a niece, so I'm going to talk to you the way I think Maureen
would have talked to you." Michelle interrupts and tells Nola that she
was adopted by Maureen, so she's not related to J. Nola knows that, but
she's worried about Michelle getting hurt, "He might not mean to hurt you,
but he will." Michelle wishes everyone wouldn't treat her like a baby and
she can run her own life. Nola didn't mean it that way. Michelle says
she can chose her own friends. Nola wouldn't worry if it was just
friendship. J comes downstairs and wants to go hear the good news. He
goes to the car. Nola, "Think about it." Michelle says she will.

	VANESSA'S

Matt didn't go back on his word to Dinah. Dinah asks why her mother acts
like Dinah is going to be the happy divorcee? Matt just told Vanessa that
Dinah was going to be ok and Vanessa loves Dinah enough to bank on her
ability to see Roger as the scum that he is and act on it. Matt didn't
tell Vanessa that he saw Dinah and Hart together in her bedroom. Dinah
says Hart is out of it and she can run her life without interference from
Matt. Matt wants to know why she turned to Hart. Dinah tells him to drop
it and to forget he saw Hart. Bridget, "Forget you saw Hart where?"

	CEDARS

Fletch tells Rick to spend some time with Meg while he takes a few minutes
off. He suggests Rick do his impressions for her. Fletch leaves.
Rick talks to Meg, "I'm one of those great big, dopey guys who wear a
white jacket all day long. You can call me Rick. You've been through
alot already. That says alot about you. You made it out into this great
big world."

He remembers a scene from the past, with Phillip. Rick is telling Phillip
that he lost his baby and might lose his marriage and he lost him.
Phillip says Rick may not want him, but Rick hasn't lost him. Rick says
he is throwing Phillip away. The scene shifts. Phillip has a bloody
mouth and is restraining Rick. Phillip asks about Meredith. Rick tells
Phillip that his wife left him because she's not good enough anymore for
him because she can't have children. Phillip thinks Meredith just needs
some time and she loves Rick and they can work it out. Phillip offers to
hire detectives to find her for Rick, then Rick can talk to her. Rick
suggests Phillip find her and talk to her himself. Fade to current Rick.

Blake is waiting for her sonogram by watching a fertility doctor on
television. He's talking about a set of twins with different fathers.
She turns it off and goes into the exam room. She looks at a diagram of a
fetus at 3 months.

Rick is in the hall outsided Blake's room. He goes into her room. Blake
gets upset that he's keeping tabs on her appointments, "What is it going
to take to get through to you that I don't want to see you? A restraining
order?" Rick, "Maybe."

	VANESSA'S

Bridget, "Forget you saw Hart where, Dinah?" Dinah, "In my bed. I'm just
kidding. I can't stand the sight of Hart." Bridget, "Really? That
surprises me, considering that you slept with him recently." Dinah tells
Bridget that if she wants Hart she should go for it. Doorbell. It's J,
Nola, and Ross. Nola tells J to behave himself. Vanessa and Peter come
downstairs. Ross tells Vanessa and Matt that Blake is pregnant. Dinah
overhears and congratulates him, but doesn't look too happy when Ross
walks past her. Nola tells Ross that she has a great chair for feeding
the baby that needs to be reupholstered. Vanessa wants to start, but Ross
says they have to wait for one more person. Bridget says that the whole
family is here. Dinah, "And then some." Doorbell. Matt finds Hart at
the door.

Dinah and Matt want to know why Hart came. Ross tells them that Hart was
on Henry's list. Dinah tells Hart it must be a joke. Hart thinks it's
because he's Peter's father. Bridget invites Hart to sit by her and
Peter. They all sit. J [for Jerk] to Nola, "Won't be long now until I
hit the ocean." Nola, "Shh". Bill shakes his head. Ross starts reading
Henry's will.

	CEDARS

Fletch brings Holly a huge, stuffed bear. Holly wants him to help her. A
nurse came in with discharge papers, but Holly doesn't want to leave
without Meg. Fletch, "Of course not. Did you explain to Nurse Battle
Ax?" Holly, "Ice water in her veins." Fletch, "So she didn't get it?"
Holly, "Make her think I'm sick." The nurse comes into the room and
Fletch tells her that Holly fainted in the bathroom and he had to carry
her to the bed. He's afraid she's done too much. The nurse thinks it's
the perfect time to take her home.

Rick wants Blake to listen, "I just wanted to apologize. This baby is all
that I think about. It's taken over my entire life. It's made me do some
stupid and inappropriate things."
Blake, "So you're sorry. Then back off Rick."
Rick, "What if this child is mine?"
Blake reminds him of Ross' fertility tests.
Rick, "There's nothing wrong with me and I slept with you too."
Blake, "I know in my heart that this is Ross' baby."
Rick, "If there's the slightest possibility that I created a life, I cannot ignore
that."
Blake, "Why are you doing this to me?"
Rick, "Do you think I enjoy this?"
Blake is happy with Ross and wants Rick to give that to her. Rick wants her
to tell him the results of her sonogram.

	VANESSA'S

Henry leaves Vanessa the summer house on Lake Geneva where she found her
smile, her spunk and reintroduced her to love. To Matt: "I already gave
you my most treasured possession, my daughter, your wife. Other than that
you'll have to be content with my gold pocket watch. Look at it often and
remember that life is fleeting. Never take it for granted."

Ross skips the paragraphs about Quint's inheritance since he's already
talked to him. He's asked Vanessa to notify Jenna Bradshaw about her
bequest. The next is Nola's. Nola tells Vanessa that Henry didn't have
to leave anything to her. Ross reads, "To Nola I leave an annual annuity
to be derived from my business properties in Chicago. No matter what life
brings, I want you to have a little safety net from your dear friend."

Ross, "And now for the grandchildren." Peter, "I want a dog." Bridget,
"You want a dog? Are you going to listen?"

	CEDARS

Fletch tells the nurse that Holly is too sick to get out of bed. If this
had happened at home, he would have called 9-1-1 and they would have had
to re-admit her. The nurse takes Holly's pulse. Fletch warns that he'll
write an expose about Cedars making mothers leave the hospital early. The
nurse says Dr.Sedwick signed the orders and rules are rules. Holly, "Then
change the damn rules!" She gets out of bed and tells the nurse that she
won't leave the hospital without her baby. Holly, "Shall I pull strings?
Your chief-of-staff and head nurse and I are like that." She holds her
fingers together. Ed asks what's going on. The nurse explains. Holly,
"Ed, I won't leave the baby." Ed tells the nurse that there's a notation
on Holly's chart that says she needs another 48 hours before discharge.
He writes in the chart and gives it to the nurse. Holly asks how can she
repay him. He suggests a visit to Meg. They go.

Rick asks if Blake will tell him the test results. She reluctantly agrees
that he should know. Blake is sorry she's been such a pain about this.
It's been very confusing and she didn't stop to see things from his point
of view. Rick, "It's pretty scary from over here." Blake, "Over here
too." Rick, "I can't turn my back on my own child." Blake will talk to
him after the procedure, but asks him to leave before anyone sees him and
it gets around the hospital. Rick doesn't want to ruin her life.

In the hallway. Michelle is waiting for Dr.Sedwick. When the doctor
arrives, Michelle stops her and asks about Holly and Meg. Michelle also
wants to talk in confidence. Dr. Sedwick suggests she make an
appointment, but Michelle wants one today and the doc doesn't have time.
Dr. Sedwick asks if Michelle thinks she's pregnant. Rick overhears.

Michelle isn't pregnant, she hasn't been with anyone. She wants birth
control. Dr. Sedwick is glad Michelle is thinking ahead and wants to talk
to her. Michelle thinks she knows everything, but Dr. Sedwick always
talks to young patients. Michelle knows about STDs and AIDS, but the doc
says it's not just health risks. Michelle has to decide if she's
emotionally ready or that this is the right person. Michelle doesn't even
know if she's going to have sex, but if it does happen, she wants to be
responsible. Dr. Sedwick thinks this is a good first step. Michelle
wants a prescription. Dr. Sedwick won't until Michelle has an exam and a
conversation. She goes to see Blake. Rick walks up to Michelle and says
his baby sister isn't a baby after all.

Blake's room. Dr. Sedwick apologizes. Blake, "Nothing like having a
gallon of water sloshing around your insides." Dr. S, "Let me know if
you're going to explode." Blake, "You should have been here earlier." A
technician comes in and they begin the sonogram. Dr. S tells Blake the
baby is fine and it's 7 weeks old.

Holly, Fletch and Ed look at Meg. Holly tells Meg that she's staying at
the hospital until Meg can leave. Ed tells Meg that she's lucky to have
her parents and tells Holly/Fletch that kids grow up too fast & he can't
believe his kids were ever that small. He leaves. Holly is surprised
when Meg turns her head towards Holly's voice. Holly wishes they could
jump ahead to the time when Meg can lay in bed between them. She wants to
make Meg's food in a blender. There's a course at the "Y". Fletch says
she can do whatever she wants. Holly, "This is going to take all the love
and energy we can muster. You think we can do that?" Fletch, "Yes.
Somehow I think the little one is going to show us the way." Holly, "She
already has." Fletch, "We've come this far. The sky's the limit."

	VANESSA'S

Ross, "To Dinah, Bill, Stacey, Peter & Anthony James (who now likes to
call himself J), I know that you dream, as I did, of achieving great
things. As I have known and loved you and watched you become the
wonderful people that you are, I have no doubt that success lies within
your grasp. You have the power to have more and be more than myself or
you parents could ever be. Just remember one thing. Always be true to
your heart, trust where it leaves you, follow it's kindness, enrich it's
soul and success will find you. <Peter is licking the screen of an
etch-a-sketch. Bridget takes it, sticks out her tongue and says yuck.>
Do this and find yourself richer than any dollar amount imaginable. I
hope that this gift will afford you the tools you need to make wise
choices and achieve the greatness within each and everyone of you."

"To Harlan Billy Lewis III, Anthony James Chamberlain, Anastasia Louise
Chamberlain, and Peter Lewis Reardon, I bequeath $100,000 each in trust,
if invested well, will not doubt become more." J, "Yes! Yes! Yes! So
long Springfield." Nola, "Shh!" J, "Hey Bridget, I'm going to pay back
every red cent I owe you, then I'm out of here." Nola, "Keep your voice
down." Ross tells them that there is a condition of the use of the money.
It's to be used exclusively to pay for higher education. J, "What? Are
you kidding me?" Ross, "Any unused portion will go to a scholarship that
Henry established at Hamilton College, his alma mater."

Hart tells Bridget that their son won't have to work nights to pay for
tuition. Bridget says she figured out that Peter will graduate in 2014.
Ross, "Bridget." Bridget, "I'm sorry. I'll be quiet." Ross, "I didn't mean
that. Henry left something for you too. As Peter's mother you've
inherited $5,000. 'On the condition you use it to have a little fun.'"
Bridget thinks she can manage that.

Next is Dinah. Ross reads, "To Dinah I leave a coral brooch that belonged
to my wife. It was my first anniversary gift to her and it symbolizes the
years of happiness we shared together. The same lifetime of happiness I
wish for you, Dinah. As for a monetary sum, I leave you no more than you
have already received. So accept my heartfelt wish that you use it
wisely, for the betterment of others, and that you claim your rightful
place in the heart of your family, where you belong."

Ross tells them about the charitable gifts. J, "When is this going to be
over?" Ross, "There's one last and important bequest. The remaining
portion of his estate goes to... Hart Jessup." J, "What?" Bridget is
shocked. Hart just stares.

	CEDARS

Michelle can't believe Rick did this. Hasn't he heard of privacy? Rick
reminds her that she was having the conversation in the hall. Michelle
babbles about it being her business and not telling their dad, when Rick
hugs her.

Blake asks how accurate this is. Dr. S says it could be off by 5 days.
Blake wonders if she could have conceived more recently. The tech shows
Dr. S something. Dr. S tells Blake that there's a second heartbeat.
She's having twins. Blake, "Twins? Two babies? Oh my God!"
Freeze frame on Blake's face.
