GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE
Tuesday, April 9, 1996

Boarding House Kitchen
Nola's under the sink trying to fix a leaky pipe when Hart enters to see
Peter. Nola's reluctant to oblige since Bridget's not home.

Thorpe Penthouse
Roger gazes at a sleeping Dinah. She awakens to learn that he has whoopee
on his mind.

A Room at Cedars
Blake tells Ross she's pregnant.

Holly's Room at Cedars
Fletch is waxing poetic about all of Meg's virtues and accomplishments. He
drones on and on, oblivious to Holly's hesitancy. Enter Lillian to escort
Holly to see Meg, but she refuses. After the commercial, Fletch is
incredulous. In all his babbling he has somehow failed to pick up on
Holly's thoughts.

Also at Cedars
Ross is incredulous, too. He blathers on and on about their new baby that
will go pooh-pooh. (I can't see how these any of these actors managed to
deliver all of today's cutsie-pie dialogue with a straight face. They all
deserve Emmy's for not throwing up on the directors and writers.) Dr.
Sedwick arrives to congratulate them and offer them an immediate initial
consultation. Blake says Ross doesn't have to stay.

Thorpe Penthouse
Dinah tells Roger he can't devour her until he sees a good heart
specialist. After all, she doesn't want to be responsible for him dropping
dead in a moment of wild passion. He persists until she finally screams,
"Get your damned hands off me."

Boarding House
Hart says he wants to see his son and that he and Bridget have an
agreement. Nola doesn't know anything about any agreement and she isn't
about to fall for his "I'm the Daddy line." She's also bummed out by the
leak under her sink, so Hart agrees to take a look.

Thorpe Penthouse
Dinah insists she isn't playing games but she won't sleep with Roger until
he gets a note from a heart specialist. She's also concerned about his
other medical problems and wonders if they might all be connected. She's
been doing some reading....Roger doesn't want to hear it. She's made an
appointment for him with a specialist in NY and says she'll take care of
the labor problems at WSPR. He finally agrees to go and they embrace as
she grimaces for the camera.

Holly's Room
In a major return of Holly's neuroses, she says she can't go see Meg
because she's afraid of bonding and then losing her. Fletch delivers a
seemingly endless think-positive-we're-in-this-together speech as the GL
theme song chimes in the background. Finally, he leaves without her and
she stares off into space.

Dr. Sedwick's Office
Ross enthuses some more about his baby. Blake says any child of his will
be perfect. She tries to hide her mixed emotions from Ross as Margaret
enters. Blake wants to know the date of her conception (actually she wants
to know the hour, too, but she doesn't say so). Ross is puzzled.

Boarding House
Hart claims he wants to be a real father and a part of Peter's life. It's
not his fault Roger is his father. (He's also successfully fixing the
leak, which is slowly but surely making points with Nola.) Afterwards Nola
shares her concerns--he has no job, he acts differently with different
groups of people, he slept with his father's wife and then dumped her. He
agrees she's right but insists he isn't all bad--after all he is good under
a sink. Enter Bridget. Nola makes her excuses (watering her African
violet) and leaves after whispering to Bridget to go for it with Hart.

Thorpe Penthouse
Roger and Leo are talking. Leo says the books aren't done yet even though
he's working as fast as he can. Roger's impatient to get out of this
marriage. He's especially P. O.'ed that his one perk--sleeping with
Dinah--has now been shut off until he gets a doctor's note. Speaking of
doctors, Leo says, someone Roger knows is in the hospital now. Cut to

Holly's Room
She's depressed.

Thorpe Penthouse
Enter Dinah, glad Roger has agreed to go to New York. She wants to know if
he remembered his boots, in case it gets wet. She also gives him the name
and number of a psychiatrist. He kisses her goodbye, crumbles up the note
and exits. After he leaves, she wipes the kiss from her face in disgust
and picks up the phone.

Dr. Sedwick's Office
Blake says she merely wants to know the when and where of conception, so
they'll be able to remember. They discuss the sonogram and whether or not
to learn the sex of the baby. Blake wants to know...she's had enough
surprises lately. They prepare to leave with a gift packet from Margaret.
Ross has finally picked up on Blake's hesitancy, but he thinks it's concern
over Holly and Meg.

Neonatal Unit
Fletch is back--babbling to "Meggie-Pie". This time he's brought a picture
of Folly for the isolette in the Recovery Room. His conversation is too
long and far too insipid to repeat.

Holly's Room
Enter Roger, as concerned as it is possible for him to be. When she tells
him about the surgery, he says maybe it will be better for everyone if Meg
dies. Remarkably, Roger's cruel insensitivity is just what the doctor
ordered. She lashes out and practically strangles him. Enter Ross and
Blake who immediately throw out a bewildered Roger.

Thorpe Penthouse
Dinah's calling Hart but he doesn't answer since he is at the

Boarding House
He and Peter are playing, having a grand old time. Although Hart is good
with Peter, he practically ignores Bridget. Still, she's smitten.

Neonatal Unit:
More Fletcher babbling in a high falsetto voice. This is a major bonding
moment, unfortunately it sounds like a Cedar's LOWHAD. Finally, enter
Holly on her own two feet, looking rather perky considering everything
she's been through.

Outside Holly's Room
Ross badgers Roger to leave. Blake joins in telling him to go back to Dinah.

Boarding House
Bridget and Peter do disco and Hart joins in. Dinah comes to the door and
observes.

Neonatal Unit
Fletch's glad Holly's back. She bonds with Meg until Lillian enters to
wheel the isolette into surgery. Freeze frame on an embracing Folly.
