GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE FOR APRIL 5, 1996

	GRIFFIN'S ROOM

Vivian is upset that Griffin gave Gilly a job. He doesn't understand why
she's so upset.

	DINER

Reva and Buzz are getting ready to open the Diner (it's 5:00 a.m.), when
Buzz sees a sign in the window: "2 for 1 breakfast special". He asks who
lost their mind. Reva, "Your wife." Buzz wants to know who's going to
pay for this. Reva tells him that they will-- for richer, for poorer.
Buzz thinks he'll be visiting her in the loony bin from the poor house.

	LOWHAD

Annie is outside. Josh comes looking for her and asks what is she doing.

	CEDARS

Rick reads Blake's pregnancy test results. "She's pregnant."

A nurse rushes out of Holly's room calling for Dr. Hopkins. Blake,
Barbara, and Ed watch. Blake asks Ed what's wrong with Meg. Dr. Sedwick
tells Holly that the baby's heartrate is lower than it should be and they
are trying to manipulate her position in the womb to alleviate the
distress. Ed walks into Holly's room. Dr. Sedwick says that the
umbilical cord is compressed, so Holly lies on her side during the next
contraction. The fetal heartrate starts climbing. Dr. Sedwick tells
Holly that now it's time to push. She gets in position to deliver the
baby.

Ed goes out to tell Blake and Barbara that the baby's heart rate is fine.
Blake says she would be a total wreck if she had to go through this.
Barbara tells her that she'll be surprised what she can do if she has a
child of her own. Rick walks up.

	LOWHAD

Annie says everything is all right and asks Josh to smell the air. It's
soft and warm, like the way he holds her. He asks why she got up at 3
a.m. She tells him that she had to look at their sign again, "The
Carousel Farm: Josh & Annie, Marah & Shayne" They kiss.

	DINER

Reva wanted to try some new ideas. Buzz thinks they'll just lose money.
Reva wants to bring in new customers since the people haven't moved back
into the neighborhood. She thinks promotions will bring new customers.
He doesn't think they can afford it. She wants to try it for a week.
Buzz asks how a sign in the window will help. Two men walk in and asks
for the 2 for 1 breakfast.

	GRIFFIN'S ROOM

Griffin thinks Vivian would be pleased to have her daughter follow in her
footsteps. Vivian wants Gilly to do well, but she felt cheap and taudry
hiding in the bathroom while Gilly was talking to Griffin. Griffin
doesn't think it matters, Gilly won't be a part of their relationship.
Vivian, "She's in the center of it!" Vivian asks how could they meet if
Gilly is always around. Griffin doesn't think it's a problem, he can lock
the door. Vivian says that Gilly is a workaholic. Griffin would expect
Gilly to respect his privacy. Vivian says that isn't good enough and
Gilly would be too close. Griffin asks if she's still worried he's going
after her daughter, he put that to rest weeks ago. He has no designs on
Gilly, he wants the real thing-- he wants her. Vivian says that can't
happen. He says he won't lose her again. Vivian's beeper goes off-- she
has to go to the hospital for one of her group support families. Griffin
wants to know when he'll see her again. She doesn't know. He wants to
get back together. Vivian, "Then don't hire Gilly."

	CEDARS

Ed asks Rick if he was on his way somewhere. Rick tells him no. Blake
wants to know how long Holly's labor will go on. Ed tells her babies
march to their own timetable. <Rick just watches Blake.> Barbara tells
Blake that Holly took 32 hours and Blake 24 hours. Ed suggests Blake have
some juice. Rick suggests she rest in an empty office. Blake doesn't
want to leave until the baby is born.

Holly is pushing. Fletch and a nurse count. Dr. Sedwick isn't happy
about the heartbeat. The nurse wants to get ready for a C-section, but
Dr. Sedwick wants Holly to try one more time. Holly starts pushing again.
The baby is born, but doesn't cry right away. Holly and Fletch are
worried. When she does cry, Dr. Sedwick asks if Fletch wants to cut the
cord. He does. He hugs Holly. They take Meg to the other side of the
room. Fletch looks at her and tells Holly that the baby is beautiful.
Holly wants to hold her, but Dr. Sedwick says she has to go to I.C.U. to
check her out. Holly asks Fletch to go with her. They push the baby past
Ed, Rick, Blake, & Barbara. Fletch tells them, "I had a baby! Holly
helped." They congratulate him. Barbara goes home to call Ben at school
and to rest. Rick asks Blake if she's ok. Blake, "Why wouldn't I be?"

	LOWHAD

Annie tells Josh that she has everything she ever wanted.

	DINER

Reva serves the customers. Buzz asks them why they stopped at the Diner.
They tell him that they saw the sign at the off ramp of the interstate.
Buzz asks Reva if she put an illegal sign on state property. She says
it's not illegal, not exactly. She pays taxes and figures she owns the
piece of land the sign was stuck in. Buzz says they'll be together in the
state pen.

Dahlia tries to sneak out the door, but Buzz grabs her and stops her.

	GRIFFIN'S ROOM

Marcus pounds on the door and asks Griffin for help with Dahlia. Marcus
doesn't trust Frank or understand why they are lying to Dahlia about her
mother. Griffin thinks that Frank is a good guy for helping Marcus and
they should give him the benefit of the doubt. Marcus wants to know why
Tina was arrested, so Griffin agrees to find out.

	DINER

Reva introduces herself to Dahlia. Dahlia wants to go back to her own
home. Buzz won't let her leave without food. Reva asks Dahlia to help by
passing out menus, then tells her that she can't leave.

	CEDARS

Rick sees that Blake is exhausted and he's worried about her. Blake wants
to see Holly. Vivian arrives and asks about Holly. Ed comes out, so
Rick, Blake & Viv go in. Dr. Sedwick is still there. Blake hugs Holly
and tells her that she's in awe of her. Holly asks Dr. Sedwick what
happens next with Meg. They will review their options with Holly and
Fletch. She tells Holly to rest. Holly doesn't want to take the pain
pill, but Vivian encourages her to take it and get some rest. Rick and
Vivan leave. Blake leaves after telling Holly that she's proud.

Vivian goes to get juice for Holly. Blake doesn't know how Rick can work
in a place where people die. She's worried about Meg's surgery. Rick
says she'll be fine. Blake thinks it stinks, she wants it to be like the
movies: mothers giving birth wearing pearls, fathers handing out cigars
and babies ready to take on the world. She wants to go to Holly, but Rick
tells her that Viv & the nurses will take care of Holly. He'll take care
of Blake.

	DINER

Reva knows that Dahlia was trying to pull a con, because she's pulled many
herself. Frank asks Reva for coffee and takes Dahlia to a booth. He
tells her that she can't run away because her mother trusted her to them.
Dahlia doesn't know why he's concerned and that he doesn't know what's
going on between her and her mother. Frank tells her that his mother left
too and it hurt.

	CEDARS

Rick takes Blake to Dr. Sedwick's office to rest. He goes to get cookies
and juice for her. Blake looks at her test results again-- she's still
pregnant.

	GRIFFIN'S ROOM

Marcus says if Frank's story doesn't check out, he'll jump on it. Griffin
is just glad to have Marcus back in his life.

	CEDARS

Vivian goes to Holly's room. Holly is sleeping. Vivian sits down and
fantasizes that Gilly and Griffin work together and they start kissing.
Vivian, "No! It can't happen. It can't ever happen."

	DINER

Frank wasn't too happy to see his mother when she came back, but he
realized that she did what she had to do. Frank tells Dahlia that she has
to forgive mistakes that loved ones make. Dahlia isn't sure. Frank wants
Dahlia to wait and not judge her mother so soon and try to make the best
of the situation. Frank asks Dahlia not to run away because he needs his
sleep. She agrees. They leave.

Reva tells Buzz that Frank is good with Dahlia and the streets aren't the
place for her. Buzz thinks she wouldn't have lasted a day. Reva says
that Dahlia's backpack reminded her of Marah's backpack. She misses her
kids so much. She starts crying.

	LOWHAD

Annie asks Josh what he would think of having a baby in a couple of years.
Josh thinks it would be great.

	CEDARS

Fletch looks at baby Meg and introduces himself.

Rick brings Blake juice & cookies. She hopes Meg is as strong as her
mother. Rick, "That's a special little girl." Blake, "Of course she is,
she's my baby sister." Rick, "And then there's your baby. Or should I
say our baby?" Freeze frame of Rick & Blake.
