GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE
Friday, March 27, 1998

Diner: Harley and Beth discuss Carl. Harley wants Beth to get Carl to
admit what he did to her while Harley listens in as a corroborating
witness. Beth is scared; Harley says donUt worry. Beth is afraid if Carl
goes to jail there will be nothing to keep Philip and Harley apart.

Casa Spaulding: Philip tries to explain to a tearful/hysterical Lillian
why Carl canUt be arrested right now.

MichaelUs Apt: Cleva and Josh argue about her being a clone.

Deserted Island: Reva reruns her soliloquy from yesterday. She laments
being without Josh, then decides to go swimming. She starts to disrobe,
telling herself no one will see her. Meanwhile, the Invisible Man spies.
She senses his presence and puts her shirt back on.

Hallway: Michael and Cassie argue. She wants an explanation; he wants to
leave the building before he will talk.

MichaelUs Apt: Cleva cries about being a freak as Josh explains that he
and Michael did this because he loved Reva One so much.

Diner: Michael and Cassie sit at a table as Cassie grills Michael for the
TRUTH. He tells her that the two girls she saw are really the same
person. She isnUt buying, so he begins to explain Extreme Rapid Soap
Opera Aging, his compound, and the need for secrecy. Cassie tells him
heUs nuts.

In Another Corner of the Diner: Beth and Harley continue their
disagreement about Carl. Harley maintains he isnUt the kind of guy to
just disappear. BethUs afraid sheUll become the butt of neighborhood
gossip if the truth comes out. Finally they agree and Harley pulls out
CarlUs wallet, quickly finding the name of the motel where heUs staying.
They agree that they shouldnUt tell Philip what theyUre doing.

Casa Spaulding: Lillian carries on very loudly about Beth and Carl.
Philip agrees to Rtake care of the situation.S Enter a very curious
Alan. Philip tries not to tell him about Carl but Lillian insists.
Philip produces a picture of Carl and tells Alan if he sees this man he
should kill him.

Island: Reva screams for the Invisible Man to reveal himself. The wind blows.

MichaelUs Apt: Cleva wants to know why Josh didnUt just remarry (like a
normal person) rather than create a clone. The Jeva theme song swells as
Josh rhapsodizes about Reva, crying as he speaks. (The sap level rises to
nearly deadly proportions in this scene.) He tries to explain their love
and Cleva remembers a magazine article about love that she once read
(probably only yesterday). He recalls the wheelchair/fountain days and
Cleva asks for more information about her predecessor. More rhapsodizing
and crying.

Casa Spaulding: Alan, Lillian and Philip argue about Carl. Lillian is
appalled that Alan isnUt more incensed by CarlUs behavior. Enter Lizzie,
screaming that she just saw the bad, bad man at the window. Exit Philip
who overtakes Carl outside and tries to strangle him.

MichaelUs Apt: Cleva comforts Josh and hopes that someday someone will
love her as much as he loves Reva One. Josh insists that none of this
excuses his and MichaelUs behavior. He urges Cleva to stop taking the
medicine so that she will age normally. HeUll be glad to let her live at
his house--people will think she is a relative of RevaUs--and then, when
sheUs old enough, she can go off and live her own life. Cleva asks to see
a current picture of Reva One and feels sad that if she begins aging
normally she wonUt get to be with Josh Rforever.S

Island: Reva continues talking to the Invisible Man as the wind blows.
During a segment of interior monologue, Reva reveals that she is scared.

Outside Casa Spaulding: Philip and Carl struggle. Enter Alan who pulls
Philip off Carl.

Diner: Beth and Harley agree to try harder not to hate each other.
(Significantly, they donUt promise to trust each other.) Beth says Carl
is easy to misjudge--he can even seem normal. She says she never told
anyone about Carl because she was so ashamed. Once, she even tried to
kill him with one of PhilipUs hunting guns, but she chickened out. She
feels that Harley would have killed him if the chance had been hers.

In Another Corner of the Diner: Cassie still doesnUt believe MichaelUs
story. She excuses herself to go to the bathroom and leaves the diner.

Outside Casa Spaulding: Alan instructs Philip to call the police. RLeave
this filth to me,S he shouts. After Philip exits, Carl's asks since when
does Alan call employees filth?

Diner: Harley and Beth agree for the 75th time not to tell anyone about
their plan. Beth leaves. Michael asks about Cassie and Dahlia tells him
she left a few minutes ago.

MichaelUs Apt: Cleva takes her medicine--much to JoshUs dismay--because
she wants to be with Josh Ralways.S She starts to embrace him as Cassie
enters through the unlocked (???) apartment door.

Island: Reva continues talking to herself, undresses and begins swimming
in the water. Enter the Newly Visible Man, who calls to her to get out of
the water now.
