Guiding Light Update--Friday, March 20, 1998

Philip's Office at Spaulding: Philip tells Beth that he brought her here to
tell her what he plans on doing about this man that hit her. He says that he
wanted to kill him but he'll settle for simply putting him in jail forever,
Beth is pleasantly surprised she says, that he can still admit that he cares
about her like that.

Courthouse: Ross reassures Holly that Griffin is a good judge and will be
impartial about her claims on Fletcher. Cassie walks in and sees Hart with a
black eye. He says that he got in a little fight and Cassie tells him about
her encounter in the park with Josh, and that she is planning on finding out
who that little girl is.

Michael's apartment: Josh tells Michael that he's not doing very well and that
his children did not have a good night. He doesn't like it when Michael tells
him that Reva's not up yet because he says that there was only one Reva in his
life. Michael tells him that no, that little girl's name is Reva too and Josh
shouldn't take out any of this on her. Josh tells him that he called the
Coast Guard again this morning and they told him that after an extensive
search and no discoveries, that he was just going to have to accept the fact
that his wife was dead. Michael tells him that it's true, he does have to
accept that, but he can still prevent the rest of the world from having to
find that out about Reva. Josh tells Michael that no miracle or scientific
discovery can change what has happened.

A Beach of a Deserted Island: Reva walks about on the island and begins, with
a stick, to walk towards the interior of the island, through the palm trees.

Michael's: Josh tells Michael that he can't accept what is going on...they
have to stop what is going on before the "little girl" gets too attached to
them. But Michael informs Josh that she already is attached, and before long
he won't be able to call her a little girl either. Reva walks out of the back
bedroom and her jeans are several inches too short. She asks what is going
on, and when Michael assures her that she's just growing like other kids, she
doesn't believe him. She comes to her own conclusion that she's dying and
runs off to the window to sit by herself.

Courthouse: Dinah thanks her assistant for the information on Hart's arrest,
and then walks up to Ross and apologizes for the TV crew, saying that she had
"no idea" that friends and family were involved and that she would try her
best, now that she knew, to contain the story. Ross tells her all that's
going on and she walks off. Ben walks in and Ross goes into a spiel about how
Ben would do anything to hurt him and his family, and says secretly to Blake
that lately it seems that Ben has something else against him, something that
Ross doesn't yet know about.

Philip's office: Beth tells him she's just glad that he's admitted that he
does still care about her, and he tells her he always will. Harley storms in
and Philip starts to explain, but Harley tells him that she came on business,
about the Private Investigator that Philip hired to find Carl. Beth is
shocked and asks if that is true, that Philip did hire someone, and Philip
admits that he hired the guy for their own good. Harley gets mad because she
says that this guy has been dropping her name all over Arizona. Beth freaks
out and says that Philip *has* to call this guy off, and Harley says that,
funny thing, that was just what she was implying. Philip says that he doesn't
understand, because this Carl could be doing the same thing to other women
now...Beth says that that is not her problem. Harley interrupts. She says
that she just came to ask Philip to tell his guy to do his own investigating
and not use her name to open doors. Philip agrees and Harley gets ready to
leave, but not without dropping the fact that *if* that guy is findable, she
would have found him by now.

Michael's: Josh admits that he does care about this girl and wants to help,
and Michael says that Josh is truly the only person in the world that has the
ability to help her. He has to make sure that she's certain that she's wanted
and to keep filling her in on the parts of her life. Josh walks over to her
and tells her that she is not sick, and when she doesn't believe, he gives her
a picture of Reva at Cross Creek, and he gets ready to tell her a story about
Cross Creek, but she won't take it. She says that she's sick of stories, sick
of Josh, and sick of Michael.

Panning out from a spider web, the deserted island: Reva walks through the
woods to get to another beach, walks around through exotic plants and then
into a jungle, but stays near to the water. She asks to herself, "Is anybody
here?"

Michael's: Josh tells her that stories from her life should make her feel
better and she reluctantly agrees. We flash back to where there was a Ranger
station by the house at Cross Creek and we see Reva hanging around in the
ranger's tree house. She asks a 10 year old Joshua not to tell and he tells
her he can't promise her that, and that she's going to get in trouble unless
she comes down right this instant. She says that he would lie for her if he
liked her, and he says that even if he does like her, she's just too wild
sometimes. He climbs up to get her, and Reva claims that she climbed it much
faster and when she tries to show off a little more by climbing back down, he
catches her. She says that she has got him, that he likes her, even if she is
wild. He says, "Yeah, I do," and leans over to kiss her on the cheek. The
screen reflects back on a thoughtful Josh and the very same Reva as the little
girl in the flashback.

Courtroom: Dinah tells Hart that she'll try to keep the story under wraps.
She says that that's what friends are for. But when she walks off, Cassie
asks why he refrains from slapping her. Griffin calls the courtroom to order
and Ben stands to announce that this is not the cut-and-dry assault case that
the defense would have you believe, and requests permission to approach the
bench. As Ross stands to join them, Blake leans over and in a whisper asks
what Ross thinks he's got planned. Ross just tells her to keep her seat belt
buckled.

Spaulding: Beth tells them that she's terrified and that even if they both act
like they know everything, even with all Harley's police experience, there is
one thing that they don't know. They don't know what it feels like to be on
the receiving end of this kind of behavior. Beth tells Philip that she loves
him for wanting to find this guy, but she begs him to let it go. When he
tells her he can't do that, she runs out of the room in tears.

Courtroom: Ben tells Griffin the story, including the fact that the airline
security guard provoked the attack and that everyone would probably be the
better if the case was dropped, and Ross, shocked, tells him that he has
nothing to add to that. Griffin agrees that dropping the case is the best
thing for all involved. Hart tells Cassie that he's a free man and that they
can now go and finish the rest of their vacation. As Dinah eavesdrops, Cassie
tells Hart that there's no way she can leave right now because she's too
worried about her sister, and she has to find out what's going on.

The deserted island: Reva continues to limp around the island and after
moaning about how much she loves Marah, Shayne and Josh, she holds her hand to
the sky and shouts, "Damn you, Annie, damn you!!!" and makes herself a promise
that she's not going to let Annie get the best of her, she's going to get back
home to her family.

Michael's: Michael asks Reva how she feels and tells her she should probably
take a little rest. After she leaves, Josh tells Michael that he can't stop
thinking about what they're doing to this little girl. Josh says that he
might as well be telling this girl fairy tales, that they're brainwashing her,
that everything is pointing to the fact that they are doing something terribly
wrong. After Michael asks why he must be so negative, Josh says that the
negativity is just slapping him in the face, and he can't avoid it. Reva walks
out of her room and listens to their argument. Michael says that there's no
turning back, they created a precious child out of this, but Josh just says
that this child's life is a lie, a horrible lie.

Courthouse: Dinah writes "REVA?!?!" in her notepad and walks off, but not
without coyly congratulating Hart on his release. Blake walks up to Ben and
thanks him, saying that she's shocked he can be human. He says that he's
surprised that she didn't realize that in his bed last night. She whispers
fiercely that nothing happened in his bed last night, and he agrees, but
points out that that was only because he didn't let it happen. And it's not
going to happen until she wants it to. And that is when she'll get Abi's
tape. And he walks off, leaving an appropriately disgusted Blake.

Spaulding: Harley and Philip stare at each other and he asks her if she still
doesn't believe Beth's story. Harley says that she does believe her, all
except for the part that Carl drops off the face of the planet. Harley says
she doesn't want to argue, she never wants that, but that's all they seem to
do anymore. She remembers the day that Lizzie came in that door and Beth came
in right after her. Harley says that she knew right then that that was the
beginning of the end. She saw it coming like a truck, but she couldn't stop
it and neither could Philip. She says that she believes that he tried to stop
it, but somehow, knowing that just makes her feels worse. He tells her that
her loves her and she starts to cry, saying that that is exactly what every
man has told her, on his way out the door. Philip says that he's not every
guy, but Harley turns away and wipes away her tears...she says that she has to
leave, but he grabs her arm. She screams, "Why are you doing this? Why did
you do this? Why did you work so hard to make me fall in love with you?!" She
looks at him with tears in her eyes. "Why didn't you just leave me alone?" He
says he knew they could have something special together, and he hadn't had
that feeling in a long time. She says what they were both thinking,
"Something you hadn't felt since Beth." He says that he can't turn his back on
her now. Harley says that he still cares about her, and he agrees that, yes,
if that means he doesn't want her to get hurt, then it's true, he does still
care about her.

Spaulding elevator: A man walks in after Beth and tells her that words been
going around that she's been looking for him. And, well, here he is.

Michael's: Josh shouts that this girl is hardly facing a life, and Michael
jumps up to say that he can't let Reva hear this. He walks to her room, and
after walking around the entire apartment, he comes back to Josh. "Josh,
she's gone."

Deserted island: Reva sits in he sand to wrap her wounded leg and assures
herself that she can get out of this, that she's gotten out of worse
situations before. She continues to wrap her tourniquet as someone watches
her from behind the trees.
