                        GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE
                      TUESDAY, March 26, 1996

Company:
Marcus is asking Griff for help in locating Dahlia because he feels she may
be in danger. Griff is thrilled that Marcus has come for help.

Diner:
Frank & Eleni are talking when Tina enters. She begs Frank to do her a big
favor and watch Dahlia.

J's Bedroom:
J enters his room, wrapped in a towel, parading, preening, and singing. He
doesn't realize Michelle is sitting there watching him.

Spaulding House:
Amanda is practicing her acceptance speech for Alan, AM, and Lucy who clap
appreciatively. Enter Alex from LA. When Alan waxes poetic about what a
great day this will be for all of them, Alex wryly observes that it will be
interesting, but maybe not as great as Amanda thinks. After a commercial
Alan and AM want to know where Alex's been; she replies something about not
questioning a woman in love and Alan retorts with a snide remark about
Hawk. Alex requests a private conference with Amanda and when they are
alone she asks for whom should she vote at the board meeting--Amanda, Mandy
Harper, or the Malibu Madam?

Diner:
Frank doesn't quite understand why Dahlia needs a babysitter while Tina
goes on an interview, but when she explains she doesn't know how long it
will take he agrees, especially if this new job will get her off the
streets.

Company:
Marcus waxes poetic about all of Dahlia's virtues. Griff can tell he is
smitten, but he tries to coax a more concrete description out of his son.
Finally Griff promises to have his men search and Marcus takes off for the
park where they met.

J's Bedroom:
J, sensing that an easy mark is sitting right in front of him, starts
coming on to Michelle with a description of sexual freedom in New Guinea
(which he claims leads to a lack of mental illness). Following a
commercial, Nola enters, wearing a necklace made of wooden beads the size
of hen's eggs. She's carrying the laundry and orders J to put on some of
these clothes and take his hands off Michelle. When Michelle leaves, she
lectures him about how inappropriate it is to come on to your cousin.

Diner:
Eleni isn't as easily convinced as Frank that they need to take in Dahlia.
Frank suggests she look at it as an opportunity to preview what Marina may
become. Aside, Tina says goodbye to Dahlia, assuring her that if this job
works out they will have all their dreams. Dahlia wants to know what about
Roy? She obviously doesn't like him and Tina knows it. As Tina leaves,
everyone but Frank, Eleni and Dahlia realize this is new arrangement will
be permanent.

Spaulding Mansion:
Amanda and Alex confer about Alex's new knowledge. Alex threatens to have
Hawk bring Misty McCloud to testify before the board. Amanda calls her
bluff saying Alex has too much to lose by revealing all "like an aging
Deborah Norville". Alex says give up executive VP and I won't tell. After
a commercial they continue to spar. Amanda says Alan and AM will never
forgive Alex; Alex thinks the IRS might be interested in what Amanda did,
too. Enter Alan, AM and Lucy for a family photo opportunity in the study.

Company:
Enter David. He approaches Griff and launches into a speech about why he
left the law and how he has always admired Griff. He wants to change the
world, but he doesn't know how. Griff knows how, but it will involve David
relocating. With an eye to Bridget David says relocation is not a problem
for him. Enter Gilly who, upon learning that David is leaving town, jumps
down Griff's throat.

Kitchen:
Bridget is trying to prepare breakfast while Michelle attempts to pump her
for information about J. When J enters Michelle asks him to lunch, but he
declines. Michelle leaves miffed. J asks Nola if she is happy now? Nola
says it would be one thing if he really cared for Michelle, but she is
merely fodder for his runaway libido. Enter David who asks to speak
privately with Bridget. When he tells her he's leaving Springfield, she
feels badly about their conversation yesterday.

Company:
Gilly is still angry about Griff encouraging David to leave. Griff reminds
her David is a grown man and that he doesn't need to ask permission from
his mother or his sister.

Back Porch:
David assures Bridget that this isn't her fault, but he just can't stick
around and be so near her and just be friends.

Spaulding Mansion:
More Amanda and Alex sparring. Amanda claims Alex doesn't have the guts to
tell everyone about her sordid past; Alex says don't bet on it. Enter the
entire Spaulding Board of Directors. AM calls the meeting to order and
announces the new business is to confirm Amanda as Executive VP. One board
member asks to know a little about Ms. Spaulding. Alex volunteers that she
should address that issue.

Diner:
Eleni inquires politely about Dahlia's school work and Dahlia politely asks
the way to the ladies' room. Enter J for a sandwich to go. Later Marcus
comes in inquiring of J about Dahlia. He, of course, doesn't know her.
Marcus leaves, Dahlia returns from the bathroom and J overhears her name.
Zeroing in on another good looking chick, J introduces himself and sits
down at her booth.

Back Porch:
David says it's time he got out of everyone else's shadow. Bridget is
sorry. He kisses her goodbye and leaves. Enter Nola, who guesses all.
Bridget, crying, asks why can't I love him?

Spaulding Mansion:
Alex chatters on and on about Amanda for the group. Unless you know the
real story everything she says is harmless. She claims Amanda's real
expertise is buying and selling and that she isn't above turning a trick to
fool the IRS. Finally they all vote unanimously to approve Amanda, but
it's a hollow victory as Alex's sly smile attests.

Company:
Over coffee, Griff attempts to explain to Gilly what it is to be a "Man".
Marcus enters, asking for news, and Griff hands him a sheet of paper with
some phone numbers on it. As he leaves, Griff explains to Gilly that what
just happened (between Marcus and himself) is what's really important.
Gilly, of course, is in the dark.

Back Porch:
Nola tells Bridget about real love and how it is unexpected and you don't
have control of where it's going. She talks some about Quint, explaining
how it's important to take a chance sometimes, even if you eventually get
hurt.

Kitchen:
Meanwhile, as Nola speaks, we cut to Marcus, trying to decide whether to
call Dahlia or not. He has the phone book ready and he is dreaming about
her.

Diner:
J's feeding Dahlia his standard line of bull. Enter Bill and Michelle.
Bill notices J and points him out to Michelle who is hurt and curious about
Dahlia.

Spaulding Mansion:
Amanda is delivering her acceptance speech--and at the end she declines the
appointment. As everyone starts to ask why, a man (Roy???) with an
automatic weapon followed by Tina, enter the mansion announcing that this
is a robbery. Freeze frame on the entire shocked Spaulding crew.
