GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE FOR FRIDAY MARCH 22, 1996

	A-M'S BEDROOM

Lucy is looking at a wedding planning book when A-M comes in and startles
her.

	BOARDINGHOUSE KITCHEN

Bridget tells Peter that Hart is his daddy. Hart and Peter say hi to each
other. Hart tells Peter that he's a bright kid. Peter nods. Hart, "Your
mommy was waiting for the right time to tell you who I was, but you
guessed it. I am your daddy." Peter nods again. Vanessa walks in and
asks Bridget what she's doing.

	DINAH/ROGER'S

Roger wants to make love to Dinah and prove to her that it was worth
defying her friends and family to come back to him. He kisses her neck.
Dinah turns away, "Roger, don't."

	DINER

Reva asks Alan what he's doing there. Buzz tells her that he asked Alan
to come. Alan, "What is this Reva? Your scam du jour?" Buzz indroduces
Reva as "the love of my life, my light, my pride & joy, my blushing bride,
Reva Cooper." Alan, "You married this burger baron? When hell freezes
over, Reva." Reva, "Well, I suggest you get out your long johns, because
Buzz & I are husband and wife." She shows him her ring. Alan asks if she
got the ring from a box of cracker jacks. Reva, "No, Santa Domingo."
Buzz asks everyone else to leave. Alan thinks it's a joke, but Buzz
assures him that they got hitched in Santa Domingo. He offers to show
Alan his tan lines & starts to unbuckle his belt. Alan asks Reva if her
amnesia came back, doesn't she remember that she's married to Josh? Buzz
explains that he ran into Alan and Alan saw Reva give Josh his walking
papers. Alan, "You said they were back together." Buzz, "I said you were
too late, that you'd lost her. I didn't say to whom." Reva explains that
she divorced Josh and was free to marry the man she wanted to. Buzz asks
Frank & Eleni to go to the kitchen. Buzz gleefully asks Alan if he wants
retsina, ouzo or hemlock. Alan, "Reva, you went and married this side
show geek." He asks Buzz if he lured him back here to show her off and
make him envious? Alan, "the only feeling I have right now is pity-- pity
for you." Buzz, "Don't pity me. I get the girl. Doesn't it get into
your hairy brain? We're married." Alan calls him a fool. Reva tells
Alan to shut up, "If anyone's a fool around here, it's you."

	BOARDINGHOUSE

Bridget explains what happened. Vanessa is upset that she was left out of
it and wasn't asked how she felt about it. She thought they were going to
make decisions together. Bridget, "But he was asking. When a child asks
a question like that, then that means they're ready to hear the answer."
Vanessa doesn't want Bridget to shut her out. She can't lose Peter too.
Bridget, "What do you mean "too"?" Vanessa points at Hart, "You know what
I mean." Hart tells her that they didn't plan to shut her out, it just
happened.

Bridget takes Peter upstairs to bed. Vanessa tells Hart that he's just
like Roger. He hurts people again & again & somehow worms his way back
into their lives. Hart doesn't want her to say he's like his old man.
Vanessa wants him to give her a reason not to. Hart came to see Peter,
but not to tell him about being his daddy. He wants to feel connected to
something, like a family, like the old days with his grandfather. "Peter
deserves to be loved, like my grandfather loved me and your father loved
you." Hart tells Vanessa that he meant what he said at Henry's funeral.
He won't mess with Peter's custody arrangement. Vanessa asks if he meant
what he said about setting things right. Hart, "On my word as Peter's
father." Vanessa, "Then you tell me what's going on with Dinah."

	DINAH'S

Roger asks what's the matter. He thought they'd both forgiven each other.
Everything he did was to keep from losing her. Dinah did forgive him.
Roger thinks her mother got to her. Dinah was begging Vanessa to stay
behind her & it seemed like her heart was breaking. Dinah just wants the
fighting to stop and she's tired of having to chose between him and them.
She doesn't think it's strange that she would want her mother to accept
her husband. Roger asks why can't they make love then. Dinah, "Because
I'm concerned about your heart." Roger, "My heart?" Dinah, "You were
just in the hospital hooked up to all those yucky tubes & monitors. And I
think that being with me so soon after your attack could kill you."
Roger, "I'll take the risk. I promise we'll stop after a few days."
Dinah, "I would never forgive myself if anything happened to you." Roger
is willing to take his chances. Dinah won't forgive herself for the
stress she's already put him through (sleeping with his son & filing for
divorce). Roger says they've put that behind them. Dinah will never
forget how he looked in the hospital, "You were a man with one foot in the
grave." She wants him to rest and she'll call room service for a glass of
warm milk. Roger, "Dinah, there's nothing wrong with my heart!"

After the commercial, Roger is lying on the bed. Dinah, "You almost
died." Roger tells her that the hospital released him with a clean bill
of health. Dinah, "That's because Ed hates you and he used Marcus' lies
to boot you out of Cedars before you were ready to go. I should sue that
hospital." Roger says no & doesn't want her to stoop to Ed Bauer's level.
Dinah asks what will happen to the next person who goes to the hospital
with symptoms they can't diagnose. "You could have a very rare heart
condition that Ed is just too lazy & incompetent to look for." Seeing him
in the hospital really scared her. Roger admits to a moment of panic
himself. Dinah remembers a friend in N.Y. who knows a heart specialist
because her husband had a heart attack after seeing the remodelling bill.
Roger thinks she's making too much of it. Dinah asks if he's afraid of
what a specialist would find. She thinks he knows what's wrong and he's
trying to protect her. Roger isn't sure what a specialist would find.
Dinah tells him that he has to take it easy. He agrees, but he wants to
lie there all night with his arms around his honey. Dinah grimaces.

	A-M'S BEDROOM

A-M chuckles and tells Lucy to calm down. Lucy has been dreaming about
this all her life and the book lists wedding disasters. A-M suggests
having an open bar and hiring a band, since he feels they're married
already. <And he's been through a marriage ceremony about 5 times
already.> Lucy doesn't think he knows what this means to her. Lucy has
been dreaming about this all her life. She wishes she could plan it with
her mother and now even Nadine isn't here. She has to make it perfect.
A-M will help, but Lucy doesn't even know what she wants. A-M tells her
that love will find a way. He leaves.

	DINER

Reva tells Alan to accept it. Alan, "Buzz is just your patsy of the week.
You're using this fool to get even with Josh." Buzz thinks Alan can't
stand it because Alan didn't get her. Alan asks why she married Buzz, for
his money or good looks. Alan to Buzz, "You're just something new and
better for her to stick it to Josh. If you believe that Reva loves you,
be my guest. You've been in denial most of your life. If you weren't,
you'd get a gun and put it in your mouth and blow your brains out." Reva,
"There's really no point arguing with him when he gets like this. Your
arrogance is very unattractive, Alan." Alan asks her to tell him that she
loves Buzz & he might believe it. Reva won't waste her breathe, "You
can't accept the fact that I dumped you. You thought you could call me a
world class slut and I'd come back to you on your own terms. Live with
you under your thumb. What you are is a selfish, cruel, son of a gun who
always has to have it your own way. The only reason I was with you was
for your money, the clothes, the house. I was biding my time until
something better came along." Alan wishes her happiness, then leaves.
Reva asks him to wait and runs after him. Buzz watches her leave.

In the kitchen. Eleni is watching through the window and tells Frank that
Alan left with Reva running after him. She knew Reva would hurt Buzz.
Frank tells her that Buzz knew what he was doing when he married Reva.
Eleni doesn't understand. Frank didn't either until he realized Buzz is
the kind of guy who walks the wire without a net. "Asking Dad to change
would be asking him to change himself, to be somebody else. I don't want
anybody else. I like my father just the way he is. He's a dreamer. He
risks it all to have it all."

Outside the Diner. Reva asks Alan why he's so upset and he should be
happy she married Buzz, "It proves to you that you were right about me all
along." She tells him that he stopped caring about her long ago, so he
should stop pretending that it bothers him. Alan says if she believes
that, she never knew him at all. He leaves. She watches, then goes back
into the Diner. Buzz is tearing down the welcome sign. Reva wants to get
Frank & Eleni back in and start the jukebox. Buzz tells her the party is
over and he has to get out of here. He leaves.

	A-M'S BEDROOM

A-M has contacted a nuptician (wedding planner) to make Lucy's dreams
come true. Lucy giggles and says she loves him. A-M asks her to make her
special hot chocolate. She suggests instant, but he wants the special
kind that takes 20 minutes to make. She goes to the kitchen.

	BOARDINGHOUSE

Vanessa doesn't understand why Dinah is staying with Roger, unless she's
lost her mind. Hart, "She hasn't lost her mind." Vanessa wants him to
tell her why Dinah did it. Hart asks why he would know and he won't find
out for Vanessa. Vanessa says this is his chance to do the right thing by
Dinah, by getting her to tell the truth. Hart doesn't think it's a good
idea. Bridget comes back into the room, "If Hart doesn't want to go near
Dinah, it's his business, not ours." Vanessa thinks Dinah went back to
Roger because she feels guilty about Hart. Hart can't change Dinah's
mind. Vanessa, "You confused her. That's why she's acting the way she
is." Bridget, "What was her excuse before he came to town?" Matt & David
arrive and ask what Hart is up to. Bridget, "Nothing. Vanessa is mad
because her stupid daughter went back to Roger and she wants Hart to go
save her and he said no." Vanessa doesn't think Bridget is the most
objective person here. Hart tells them to fight without him, he has to
leave. David, "Cut & run: that's the story of your life." Vanessa
follows Hart and asks what he would do if this was Peter in trouble. Hart
tells her that Dinah hasn't lost her mind, she knows exactly what she's
doing. Vanessa, "Is there something you know about Dinah that you're not
telling me?"

	DINAH'S

Dinah slowly gets out of bed, trying not to wake up Roger. She picks up
some clothes and leaves the room. Roger turns over, but doesn't wake up.

	BOARDINGHOUSE

Hart tells Vanessa to stop worrying because Dinah is tough and determined,
Roger couldn't put one over her if he wanted to. Vanessa isn't so sure.
Bridget comes out and tells Vanessa that "Petey-poop" wants her. Vanessa
goes in. Hart tells Bridget that it must be tough knowing your kid's
doing something screwy and there's nothing you can do about it. Bridget
hopes they don't have that problem with Peter. Hart thanks her for what
she did tonight, "Did you see the way Peter smiled when I held him? We
made a great kid, didn't we?" He's anxious to get to know Peter and
promises to do it right this time. Hart thanks Bridget for letting him be
Peter's daddy. Bridget tells Hart that he better not blow it. Hart won't
and will call her to set something up. He leaves. David has been
watching through the window.

Inside. Matt tells Vanessa that Hart is right about one thing, that Dinah
is strong. Vanessa, "Every day she stays with Roger is going to be a
living hell."

	REVA'S HOUSE

Buzz tells Reva that he hates the place, not because it belongs to Alan,
but because it's all straight lines, steel & cold, like Alan. Reva asks
if he wants to move out. Buzz says no, the apartment over the Diner is
overflowing with Coopers and he has no place else to offer her. He
doesn't care where he lives. Reva offers to make a sandwich, then
apologizes for things getting out of hand with Alan. Buzz says it was his
fault, he knew what he was getting into. Reva, "But to live it day by
day..." Buzz, "Day by day, I'm a most happy fellow... on the street where
you live, on a clear day..." Reva laughs. Buzz admits he overdid the
celebrating. Reva thought it was fun until Alan showed up. Reva, "You're
very sweet." Buzz grabs her head and tells her that that's not how he
wants her to see him. Reva knows that. Buzz wanted to get Alan's goat
tonight. Reva, "I know. He deserved it." Buzz wants to play some music
that isn't Spaulding music, "Al Green, Al Jareau, somebody like that, Al
anybody? Just not anybody Ludwig?" Reva is tired and decides to turn in.
She asks if he's coming. He's not sleepy and will be along later.

	A-M'S BEDROOM

Lucy brings the hot chocolate and finds the room covered with white lights
and a rose on the bed & candles everywhere. She doesn't believe he
remembered the stars, the one constant whe had with Buzz (wishing on the
first star every night). She wished for a guy with a heart as big as the
sky and whose eyes sparkled like Milky Way <She giggles>. A-M tells
her that he'll love her forever, no matter what happens or what changes.
They kiss. Lucy wants the stars to move over because she's in heaven now.

	JESSUP FARMHOUSE

Dinah lights a cigarette. Hart arrives and asks what's eating her.
Dinah, "Roger's relentless. I thought he'd never fall asleep." Hart
turns her towards him, "Tell me he didn't touch you!"

Dinah tells Hart that Roger didn't do anything and asks what's the matter
with him. She's upset because five minutes after her mother leaves, Roger
put the moves on her. "He makes me sick with his big hands all over me."
Hart, "But you stopped him." Dinah, "I reminded him of his mysterious,
but possibly threatening heart condition. I told him we couldn't make
love until I knew he wouldn't die in the process. Pretty clever using his
own lie against him. He had no choice but to back off or admit that he
faked his attack. Hart asks what she'll do next time. She'll think of
something and if she can't, she'll cross that bridge when she comes to it.
Dinah asks if Hart has any ideas for the next step. He hasn't had time to
think. Dinah is upset that he was late and they don't have much time to
plan. Hart explains that he ran into her mother. Dinah hopes he didn't
let her pry the truth out of him. He didn't, but Vanessa wanted him to
find out why she went back to Roger. He says Vanessa is in bad shape.
Dinah knows that and admits that it's much harder than she thought it
would be. She wishes she could tell Vanessa that she hates Roger and
she's doing all this to pay him back.

	BOARDINGHOUSE

Vanessa doesn't know what to think. Dinah seemed desperate tonight to
have Vanessa accept her marriage. Matt wonders if Dinah really is in love
with Roger. Vanessa doesn't know, she was having some hope at Henry's
funeral when Dinah was close to her. That they had a chance to be a
normal mother and daughter. Matt thinks that just because they're closer
doesn't mean she can't go back to Roger. Vanessa tells him that Dinah
said the same thing, but she can't be happy Dinah is with Roger. She
can't be a part of it and doesn't know what else to do. Matt thinks he
does & goes somewhere, promising to come home in an hour.

Bridget is still on the porch. David comes out and tells her that Peter
was crying. He read to him and got him back to sleep. Bridget wants
David to talk to her. David, "I asked you if you were going to let Hart
back into Peter's life and yours, and tonight I got my answer."

	A-M'S BEDROOM

A-M plays a cassette of some music he wrote for Lucy. Lucy tells him that
her wishes brought her to him, it's perfect and he's perfect. A-M agrees
that it's perfect. Lucy says she falls deeper in love with him every time
he writes a song for her. A-M, "And it's never going to stop."

	SPAULDING DEN

Alan frowns and remembers being with Reva in Goshen and on the plane and
making love at the house and hears Buzz saying, "The jokes on you
Spaulding".
Alan calls someone to change some plans. They aren't going to start with
Water Street, their first target will be 5th Street.

	REVA'S

Buzz is on the couch. Reva walks down the stairs wearing a red nightgown
& robe. She stands next to the couch and smiles. Buzz sits up.

	DINAH'S

Roger wakes up and notices that Dinah is gone.

	JESSUP FARMHOUSE

Dinah, "Roger almost drove my grandfather to suicide, not to mention
everything else he's done to me and my family. You were right telling me
not to shoot him. That would be too quick and easy. I want Roger to
suffer the way he's made everyone else suffer."
Hart, "Well, at least I made sure that Peter's going to be safe with your
mother and Bridget."
Dinah, "That's good. It's one less thing for my mother to worry about.
She's freaked out enough that I'm even back with Roger."
Hart, "Can you blame her? She loves you, Dinah. She really, really
loves you."
Dinah, "That's something I've wanted to believe for a long time. But it's
time to iron out our next step."
Hart, "It's going to have to be very convincing."
DInah, "Oh, it will be. It is time to convince Roger that he is stark,
raving mad."
Hart smiles.
