GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE FOR FRIDAY MARCH 8, 1996
			written by Roger Newman
			directed by Jo Anne Sedwick

	VANESSA'S

Matt and Vanessa hold each other as she cries. Matt tells Vanessa that
he'll never leave her side, he won't give up on them. Vanessa kisses him.

	JOSH'S

Annie and Josh are kissing. Annie is so happy to be back home with the
kids. Marah and Shayne run around the living room. Annie asks them to
help her move back into the house. They yell with joy, but Josh asks
Annie what she's talking about.

	SPAULDING MANSION

Alan is phoning Reva, but no one answers. Hart comes into the room. At
first Alan doesn't remember why Hart is there. Hart reminds him that he
has stuff on Roger. Alan does, "It's so low, so reptilian, so Roger
Thorpe that I had to laugh."

	CEDARS

The ambulance crew brings Roger into the emergency room. Lillian is
surprised to see that it's Roger. Dinah and Marcus explain what
happened. Roger calls for Dinah. Dinah pleads, "Don't let him die!"

	SPAULDING

Alan got the information from a friend, but Hart can't find out who it
is. Hart asks if Alan did something illegal. Alan tells Hart that it's
privileged information. He tells Hart that on Dec. 20th funds were
transferred from Dinah's account to a numbered account in the Cayman
Islands. Dinah's account was liquidated before the end of the year and
she has enough money left to last a couple of weeks. Hart asks if Roger
did it. Alan tells Hart that Roger bilked Dinah out of a fortune.

	CEDARS

Dinah wants to be with Roger. Lillian drags her out of the room because
they have to stabilize him first.

Ed starts treatment on Roger and asks to have Charles Grant stand by.
Lillian asks Ed if he thinks Roger will need bypass surgery. Ed doesn't
know.

Dinah wonders why Roger is having problems. Marcus doesn't understand
why she's so worried about Roger. She says she doesn't want to bury
anyone else today. Ross arrives and asks what kind of medical emergency
Roger has, "Foot fungus? He is faking it to get out of the divorce
hearing." Dinah says Roger may die. Ross, "Keep your fingers crossed!"

	JOSH'S

Josh sends Shayne & Marah into the kitchen so he can talk to Annie.
Annie asks if he doesn't want her living there so she can be with "her"
family. He says that's not it, the judge issued a court order. He asks
why is she telling the kids she can move back in. Annie asks why he's
concerned about the court order when Reva's on their side. Didn't he
settle things at Cross Creek with his soon-to-be ex-wife?

	BOARDINGHOUSE

Nola is drying dishes when Quint comes in. She asks where is the budding
Egyptologist. Quint explains that Jessica is on her way to the airport.
Nola. "To get her broom cleared for take-off?" Quint doesn't want to do
it this way. Nola says they can go back to the way they were before
Henry died-- 1,000 miles apart. Quint tells her that when he came
through the door he expected Bea to be here. Nola, "Sometimes I hear her
voice." Quint, "Like when she was making our wedding plans." Nola
remembers that Bea wanted to be involved in everything, even the wedding
dress. Because she couldn't sew, it had a life expectancy of 24-hours.
Quint, "Ed and Maureen came to the rescue. They bailed out Lola's
friends and voila, you were the prettiest bride they ever saw in
Springfield." Nola tells him that she talks to Bea every Sunday. Quint
asks her to send his love. Nola asks if he remembers the time she heard
his voice and fell down the steps. He smiles and says yes. Nola tells
him about an incident two months ago when cleaning supplies fell on her
head. Quint asks if she was eavesdropping on someone. Nola says she
doesn't eaves..., maybe a little. Quint says he's sorry he hurt her and
understands why she wants to speed the divorce along. He wishes he could
go back and change it all. Nola, "Me too."

	VANESSA'S

Vanessa doesn't want to give up either. Matt tells her that he should have
told her up front. Vanessa says it doesn't matter. Matt was worried
that he'd lost her. Vanessa tells him that she'll stay with him forever.

	JOSH'S

Annie asks what is going on with Reva. Josh doesn't know and wants to
find out. He needs to see her. Annie wants him to do anything he can to
make them a family again. Josh leaves. She looks unsure.

	CEDARS

Ross tells Dinah that Roger will do anything to get out of giving up his
financial statements, including faking a heart attack. Dinah tells him
that Roger was in pain. Marcus wonders if it's really a coincidence that
this happened today. Marcus, "He probably just held his breath." Ross,
"Not quite long enough."

Ed tells Dinah that Roger has stabilized and they'll run some more
tests. Ross thinks it's a scam. Ed tells them that Roger's blood
pressure is low and something is going on. The cardiologist will tell
them more. Marcus, "What happens when they discover that he doesn't have
a heart?" Lillian calls Ed back into Roger's room. She's never seen
anything like this. Dinah goes to Roger. He asks her to stay and to
tell him that she cares.

Marcus tells Ross that it threw him to see Dinah rush to Roger's
bedside. Ross knows that her grandfather's funeral threw her. Marcus
goes to get some food. Leo arrives. Ross asks him how he knew about
Roger so quickly, almost before it happened. Ross asks if Leo is
psychic. Leo says he called the funeral home and found out. If he'd
known Roger was so sick he would have called for a continuance a week
ago. Ross tells him that he won't get away with it.

Roger tells Dinah that he was a fool and if he has to die he's glad that
the last face he sees is hers.

	SPAULDING

Hart wants to get Roger for fraud or embezzlement, but Alan tells him
that Roger covered his back. They can't prove this in court. Hart would
love to see his father in a cell. Alan wishes him luck, but he can't
help Hart anymore. Alan has a new life to build. Hart, "I can handle
Roger." He thanks Alan and leaves. Alan, "Ignorance is bliss." He
leaves too.

	BOARDINGHOUSE

Quint will always care for Nola and will do anything for her. He wasn't
such a good husband, "I was dreadful". Nola, "You weren't that bad. You
were somewhere between good and dreadful." Quint, "You could always make
me laugh. You were the funniest, warmest, smartest, prettiest girl I've
ever known. No one could compare to you." Nola, "So why did you cheat
on me?" Quint, "I wish I knew." Nola, "Why don't you give it a shot."
Quint, "The politically correct thing to say was that it was all me, but
it wasn't all me. In marriages there is always more." Nola, "I don't
want to go there. I've done that." Quint, "Ill always take care of you
and the children." He gives her a check. She doesn't want the money,
she wants...

	REVA'S

Alan lets himself in and finds Josh there. Alan asks Josh if he's ready
to throw Annie over for the Tulsa Tornado. Josh is there to talk to
Reva. Alan asks where is Reva and where is the woman Josh ditched.
She's not at the house babysitting is she? Josh tells Alan to shut up.

	JOSH'S

Sickeningly sweet scene of Annie and kids making a volcano on the
livingroom table.

	REVA'S

Alan and Josh trade insults over Reva. Alan reminds Josh that Reva was
leaving town with him and will be again.

	CEDARS

Ross wants to speak with Dinah. Leo asks Roger if the pill worked.
Roger, "Beyond my wildest dreams." Leo tells Roger he has guts. Roger
says he has a pounding heart and a headache, "What I won't do for the
love of a good woman." Leo, "Don't you mean, What you won't do for the
love of a good woman's money?" Roger, "Sometimes I get those confused."
Leo, "This isn't like that accident last spring where you actually almost
killed yourself?" Roger, "That was a miscalculation. This is perfectly
calculated and calibrated. The symptoms should subside within 8 hours.
Dinah is definitely not worth dying for." They laugh.

Dinah, "He's so ill." Ross, "When I saw you holding his hand it made me
ill." Hart rushes in to talk to Dinah. She starts yelling at him that
Roger's heart attack is all Hart's fault. Hart asks if it's for real.
Ross doesn't think Hart needs to be overly concerned. Dinah tells Hart
to stay away from her and from Roger. She calls him a lying piece of
slime. He agrees to leave and doesn't know why he tried to help her.
Ross tells Dinah she can hate Hart, but she should hate Roger more. She
can feel sorry for him because he's pathetic, but she can't stay married
to him.

	VANESSA'S

Matt tells Vanessa that she scared him because she never cried about
Henry. Vanessa says she did, but it was inside. If she started crying
she would never stop. She misses him and keeps thinking of the letter he
wrote. Matt is glad Henry thought so well of him. Matt loves Vanessa
for what she is and wants to make her happy. Vanessa tells him that he does
make her happy.

	BOARDINGHOUSE

Nola is surprised at the amount of the check, maybe she can get the best
divorce attorney in the country with it. Quint tells her to go for it.
He wants to be fair. Nola wants the kids to be taken care of. Quint
will support them through their doctorates. Nola knows Staci will be
fine, but she's worried about J making it through high school. Quint
offers to talk to him. Nola thinks J would head for the hills. Quint
doesn't think J will stay angry forever and asks if Nola is still furious
with him. Nola, "Can you just go?"

	REVA'S

Josh tells Alan that Reva can get men to fall in love with her and Alan
is just another notch on her belt. Alan, "I'm also another notch in her
bedpost. She's head and shoulders above the pack there too. As you & I,
your father & brother-- just to name a few-- know very well." Josh,
"You're not worth it. Alan, I've said this before and I'll say it
again. You are a pig!" Alan leaves.

	JOSH'S

Marah, "Mama said she would fix this and she did." She goes upstairs.
Annie, "Let's hope so."

	OUTSIDE REVA'S

Josh, "Where are you Reva?"

	BOARDINGHOUSE

Quint looks at Nola and tries to kiss her, but she moves away from him.
Quint, "I just wanted to kiss you good-bye." Nola, "I know, but you know
it's not one of my movie fantasies. We're not in Kansas anymore, and
this is not Never-Neverland. Our marriage just didn't work out." Quint
puts on his hat, looks at Nola with sadness and longing, touches her hair
(she's facing away from him) and walks to the door. He turns back, says
so long and opens the door. He looks back through the screen door at
Nola. Nola turns to look at him. He leaves.

	VANESSA'S

Vanessa tells Matt that the past days have been so hard on everybody,
especially Dinah. Matt thinks that Dinah giving up Roger is a major step
for her. Vanessa, "We have that to be thankful for. And there's us."
Matt, "We're going to be fine." They kiss.

	CEDARS

Dinah doesn't want to talk about her divorce. Ross understands. She
wants Ross to go home, Marcus will take care of her. Ross asks her to
promise she won't make any hasty decisions, "Roger is Roger and he's not
worth it." He leaves.

Roger tells Leo to finish fixing the books. Leo leaves.

Dinah pulls out a cigarette, but notices a no smoking sign. She goes
outside. Hart grabs her and covers her mouth with his hand. Hart,
"Roger stole all your money, and I can prove it."
