GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE FOR FRIDAY MARCH 1, 1996
			written by Roger Newman
			directed by Jo Anne Sedwick

	BOARDINGHOUSE KITCHEN

Quint tells Vanessa that he's sorry, while Nola listens. Quint hugs
Vanessa, then see Nola.

	SPAULDING MANSION

Alan asks if Hart really wants help to destroy Roger. Amanda walks in.
Alan wonders if this is a desparate attempt of Roger's to plant a spy in
his livingroom and orders Hart out. "If I don't have enough disaster in
my life, Roger's devil spawn shows up." Hart calls Alan a bigger liar
than Roger. Alan starts towards Hart. Amanda tells him to stop.

	DINER

The diner is the command post for finding Marah. Reva is serving
coffee. Buzz tries to get her to get some sleep since she's been there
all night, but she won't leave. Frank comes in and reports that there
isn't any sign of Marah.

	JOSH'S HOUSE

Lillian lets in Holly and Fletch. They just heard about Marah and want
to help. Josh is on the phone with Gilly. Holly consoles Annie (who's
panicking) and offers her help. Lillian tells them that Shayne is at a
friend's. Holly and Fletch tell Josh that the Journal is at their
disposal. Holly asks if Marah gave a reason in her note. Annie says no,
but Josh says it's his fault. Annie tells him to stop saying that. It's
Reva's fault, anyone who says differently has to answer to her. Josh,
"Annie, I say differently."

	DINER

Reva sits down and Eleni gives her some water. Reva asks Frank if Marah
could have survived the cold last night. Buzz reassures her that Marah
is a smart 8-year-old and found someplace warm. She'll be found when she
gets hungry and goes out for food. Eleni asks Reva to help her make
waffles. Gilly arrives and asks where she should set up. WSPR will put
Marah's picture on the air every 20 minutes.

	JOSH'S

Josh tries to explain to Annie that it's a difficult time, but she has to
stop blaming Reva. Annie tells him that Marah has been upset since she
found out Reva is alive. Josh yells that it doesn't matter whose fault
it is, Marah is missing and they have to find her. He leaves to make
some more phone calls. Annie tells Lillian, Holly, & Fletch that she
doesn't know how Josh is keeping it together and that it's Reva's fault
for pushing too hard. "Reva only thought of herself, she never thought
about anyone else ever! She put those kids through agony. Marah and
Shayne were terrified they might have to live with Reva." Fletch is
surprised the kids knew about the court battle. Annie says Marah is so
bright and sensitive that she figured it out, plus Reva convinced the
judge that Annie should move out. Josh comes over and tells them that
he's leaving to go to 5th Street. Annie rants, "I will never forgive
Reva Shayne for putting Marah and Josh through this hell!"

	BOARDINGHOUSE

Quint looks happy to see Nola. They both apologize for the fight during
their last phone conversation. Nola says she was upset after finding out
about Henry. Quint, "Sometimes I think you were closer to Dad than I
was." Nola, "He use to say I was plucky in the beginning. He was really
upset when we broke up." Quint tells her that Henry told him he was
afraid Quint would become dissatisfied with a perfect marriage. Henry
walked three miles to the beach every morning, he said all those
automobiles were obscene and how could you enjoy the "snapping salty
ocean air in a refrigerated box." Nola and Quint tearfully hug.

	SPAULDING

Hart didn't come there to fight. Amanda tells Alan that he shouldn't
murder Hart unless he wants to get involved in another long and costly
legal battle. Alan, "A grand jury wouldn't indict me. I'd earn a
medal." Amanda tells Hart to leave, but he won't until he reminds Alan
of what he said to Roger. Alan, "You are a determined little flea,
aren't you?" Hart reminds Alan that he said he would nail Roger for
publicizing Lucy's kidnapping. Alan meant it and doesn't need Hart to
remind him, he lost $10 million trying to rescue AM & Lucy from that
madman. Hart's sleazy father wasn't a first priority, but Alan always
pays back what's owed. Hart asks Amanda to leave them alone, but Alan
says she was used by Roger to hurt AM, so she can hear whatever he says.
Hart needs Alan to catch a thief, a master thief who's stolen from his
wife. Hart believes that Roger has stolen Dinah's trust fund.

	OUTSIDE COMPANY

David tells Bridget that he loves her. She looks at him and laughs. She
had no idea. She knew they were friends and loved each other. David
asks if the idea turns her off. Bridget is trying to get her brain
around the concept that they could be friends and lovers. David smiles.

	DINER

Gilly wants Reva to go on the air, but Reva refuses. Buzz consoles
Reva. Gilly goes on the air and explains that they need help finding
Marah. Griffin comes in and tells Buzz that he has asked people from the
university and churches in town to help find Marah. Buzz thanks him.
Griffin goes to Gilly. Gilly ignores him. Tina, the hooker, comes in and
tells Eleni that she and some of the other girls want to help. Tina
knows Eleni doesn't want her to come around, but Eleni tells her that any
friend of Frank's is welcome there and anyone who helps find Marah is
welcome too. Eleni is sorry for overreacting on New Year's Eve. Tina
has a daughter too and understands.

Reva is in the kitchen trying to keep from crying. She asks God to bring
Marah back safely. She'll do anything or make any bargain. She asks for
a sign. Eleni tells her that someone is looking for her. It's Josh.

	JOSH'S

Fletch is on the phone telling someone how to start the article about
Marah. Annie tells Holly that she's never felt this way before. This is
much worse than the other bad things in her life. Annie appreciates
having someone to talk to. She feels responsible. Holly tells Annie
that she isn't and that she has a daughter who could tell Annie all the
things Holly did wrong. Annie thought she and Blake got along great.
Holly says there was a time when people didn't think they'd speak to each
other again. They went through a long rocky period and both of them take
responsibility for it. Kids go through that, but they come back. Fletch
comes over and tells Annie that kids take over your life. Holly tells
Annie that she's human and will make mistakes. Annie tells them that
they'll make wonderful parents, "It's like that with me and Josh. No
matter what happens we have each other. Our love is strong."

	DINER

Josh asks to talk to Reva. They go into the kitchen. Buzz watches them
leave. Eleni says it would be hard for Buzz to compete with that. Buzz,
"It's not about romance. It's about a little girl."

Reva tells Josh he looks exhausted. Josh says she looks dead on her
feet. He has a good feeling that they'll find Marah. Reva is glad Marah
got her brains from her daddy. Josh says Marah got her determination
from Reva, "Look at you. You drove off a bridge. Everybody wrote you
off. You were gone and here you are. Raising the same old hell.
Fighting like crazy." He wipes away a tear from her face. Josh, "You're
the most determined person I've ever known." Reva asks about Annie.
Josh hasn't told her what happened at Cross Creek, but he will. Reva
doesn't want to worry about that when their little girl is out there
alone. She cries and hugs Josh.

	SPAULDING

Hart asks what else Alan needs to know. Roger got Dinah's power of
attorney and all sorts of money poured into WSPR and his money troubles
were over. Amanda asks if it could be outside investors. Hart wonders
why Roger wouldn't give Ross an accounting then. Roger is doing his best
to hide something. Alan says Roger can use Dinah's money any way he
wants to, especially since she stands to gain from financial improvement
at WSPR. If he sells the station she'll share the profits. Hart doesn't
believe it. Amanda asks if Hart thinks Roger is pulling something
illegal. Hart thinks Roger has skimmed all of Dinah's money. Alan says
it sounds like Roger. Hart needs their help because he doesn't know the
difference between a stock and a bond. Alan will help, as long as it
doesn't cost him. He's a little short this month. Hart wants to know
where Roger could stash the money where Dinah & Ross couldn't get to it.
Alan, "Off shore." Hart, "As in like oil rig or something?" Amanda
tells him Alan meant overseas. Alan suggests the Caribbean and is Roger
has, Dinah should chalk it up to experience and hope Henry Chamberlain
left her some more money. Hart asks Alan to check it out. Alan asks if
Hart despises his father. Hart says it's more than that. Alan thinks
Roger has been punished because his child hates him. Hart knows that his
father doesn't care. Alan will do what he can. Hart thanks him and
leaves. Amanda tells Alan that she and AM love him and he has his
children back. They hug.

	BOARDINGHOUSE

J and Vanessa come into the kitchen and see Quint and Nola hugging. J
asks his dad if the divorce is over. Vanessa says his parents are
upset. Quint is glad to see J. Nola asks why he's home from school. J
tells her the boiler blew and they sent him home. He got to walk in on
her and the professor. Nola says he shouldn't talk like that to his
father, but J tells her that he doesn't mind. Quint says they've had
some rough sledding and wants to put their differences aside because it's
what Henry would have wanted. Nola agrees. Quint, "Family is very
important during difficult times." Nola suggests breakfast. She'll make
pancakes. Just then a woman comes into the kitchen. Jessica, "Quint
honey, is this going to take much longer?" Nola looks at her from behind
the fridge door, "You brought your mistress to your father's funeral?"
Jessica says she realizes this is awkward for all of them. Quint tells
Nola she shouldn't go balistic. Nola walks out the door in her
bathrobe. J tells his father that he almost bought into his being his
dad again and thought he looked good hugging his mom, then "you bring your
Barbie doll girlfriend here from grad school." Quint doesn't like how J
is talking to Jessica or the tone of voice he's using. J tells Quint
that if he acted like his dad, he'd treat him like one. He leaves to see
if Nola is ok. Jessica tells Quint to give J time to come around, and if
he doesn't he'll be someone else's problem. Quint tells her that he
wants to be alone. Jessica doesn't want to go outside because it's
cold. Vanessa steps between them and tells Jessica to use the heater in
the car. Quint introduced Vanessa. Jessica puts out her hand, but
Vanessa won't shake it. Jessica leaves. Vanessa turns to Quint, "I hope
you're pleased with yourself. I'm absolutely appalled!"

	COMPANY

David watches Bridget help some customers. He asks her if he blindsided
her with this. She says she needs time to think about it. He wants to
give her one more thing to think about. He kisses her. The customers
applaud. Hart walks in. David looks up and sees him. Bridget turns and
asks what he's doing back in town. Hart tells her that he never left.
Bridget asks if Dinah let him move in. Hart wants to talk to her alone.
David says Bridget doesn't want to hear it and tells him to leave. Hart
doesn't want to be like his father and wants to be a part of Peter's life.

	SPAULDING MANSION

Amanda tells Alan that she wants to help him with Reva. Alan wants to
know if Reva is back with Josh and if she still cares about him (Alan).
Amanda says she's lost alot because of her pride and doesn't want him to
lose someone he loves because he was too proud to bend. She wants him to
be happy. He thanks her and leaves.

	DINER

Josh tells Reva they'll make it through this. Reva says they'll find
Marah in the last place they'd think to look and she'll wonder what the
fuss is about. Josh leaves. Reva holds her head. Buzz comes in and
Reva collapses.

Reva sits in a booth and Buzz makes her eat something to keep up her
strength. Griffin sits down and tells her to eat and sleep because her
little girl nees her strong and powerful. Buzz takes Reva home to sleep.

Gilly tells Griffin he can turn on the charisma as easily as most
people flip on a light switch. Tina introduces herself to Griffin and
asks how she can help. He asks if she knows of any places the police
would miss. She suggests some abandoned warehouses by the docks. He
sends Justin (one of his bodyguards) with her. Gilly, "Mother said you
were at your best with causes where you didn't know the people
personally." Griffin calls that a cliche and Marcus accused him of that
as soon as he could speak. It's not true. He leaves with the other
bodyguard.

	JOSH'S

Lillian gives Holly hot milk and Fletch coffee. Holly talks to Civil air
patrol and they're extending the area they'll search. Annie runs in.
Holly asks about Shayne. Annie has a headache & Shayne is fine. Fletch
tells her that they're putting out a special edition of the Journal.
Josh comes home and asks if they've heard anything. They tell him about
the civil air patrol. Holly & Fletch leave to go to the Journal. Josh
doesn't understand how he could have been so careless because his
children are so precious to him. There's a knock on the door. It's
Frank. He heard that a little girl that matches Marah's description was
a victim of hit and run. They all leave with Frank.

	COMPANY

Hart doesn't want Bridget to shut him out. David tells him to back off,
Bridget doesn't want him jumping back in her life just because he got
tired of chasing his "mother-in-law" (Step-mother). He shoves Hart.
Bridget tells them both to stop. She's not making any decisions today.
Hart leaves. David, "You're going to let him in, aren't you?" Bridget,
"David, please." She leaves.

	BOARDINGHOUSE

OUTSIDE. J tells Nola that Quint is temporarily insane, it happens to guys
his age. He tells her she's cool.

INSIDE. Vanessa asks how could Quint do that, he's not her father's
son. "Daddy could no more do something so inappropriate and
inconceivable as to bring his mistress into the midst of a grieving
family. I'm so ashamed of you." She storms out.

	DINER

Buzz returns after taking Reva home. Everyone is out searching for
Marah. Eleni is worried because they should have found Marah by now. Alan
arrives and demands to see Reva.

	ALAN'S HOUSE

Reva looks at a picture of Marah and Shayne. She turns around. Marah is
standing on the stairs. Marah, "I'm sorry if I scared you. I've been
here all night. I've come to live with you." Reva freeze-frame.
