Guiding Light Update
   Fri., Feb. 14
       by Viv

Valentines Day is very romantic for Rick and Abby, as they snuggle at the
skating pond. Rick wishes that their lives could always be easy. Abby is
sure about their future but Rick has
other, smaller, things on his mind. Even so, he says that nothing will
keep them apart. They kiss.

At the country club, people are ready for the couples engagement party.
Annie and Josh arrive, with Annie looking hyper and Josh depressed, as
usual. Shes wearing a flattering
outfit for a change, a soft gold skirt and cardigan with a shiny (but not
gaudy) gold top and matching purse. She wonders where Blake and Ross are,
but Josh isnt concerned. When Josh wonders why she seems nervous, Annie
says its because all the hospital people are here. But isnt she used to
seeing them since her AA meetings and doctor are at Cedars, Josh wonders.
This kind of tricky question is childs play for Annie. She simply says
that after all she put Rick through, it makes her uneasy, but this
get-together will be closure for them all. Josh believes her, naturally.
His circuits havent been firing until now, why should they start today?
Fran, the fertility nurse, is pretty in pink, but Annies not happy to see
her. Fletcher wonders where Holly
could be. Is he wondering if his wife is lurking in an elevator, hoping
for a power outage?

At Bloss, Blake is brokenhearted over the twins and her manipulations as
she pours out her feelings to mom. She cant live with the lies any longer
and wants to tell Ross the truth.
Holly tries to be supportive by telling Blake that she was only trying to
save her marriage. But Blake hates herself, and is determined to put an
end to the lies. She begs Holly to help her.

Buzz and Jenna make a mismatched pair (only in fashion) as he escorts her
to her room in flannel. Shes wearing a stunning black gown with a full
skirt and dropped shoulders. She
looks lovely in it, but Annie would look like Kate Moss on a hunger strike.
She wants to know how he found her and he says it doesnt matter. She
wants him to leave, but Buzz isnt going
anywhere. He wants to know why she was willing to do time for Jeffrey. It
looks like Jenna will have to come up with an answer.

Reva arrives home and checks her messages. Abby and Rick have left one
inviting her to the engagement party. Reva is happy for her friends.

Annie grabs Frans arm and wants to know what shes doing there. Fran is
more assertive than usual today and tells her friend (all Annies friends
are in quotes lately) that what
she does with her time off is her own business. In fact, Abby may be
helping her to land a job at Cedars. Her interview with Dr. Grant was
today and shell find out soon. Vivian joins them, as
she heard Charles name mentioned. Fran explains that shes old friends
with Annie, and that the job at Cedars is part time. Shell keep her old
job at Northside - oops, did the name of the
fertility clinic pop out? After Viv leaves, Fran threatens to tell
everyone about Annies two visits to the clinic. Annie threatens right
back to reveal Frans part in the inseminations. Fran backs down a little.
She knows that Annie will probably do it, and just wants to forget the
whole thing. Annie sees Josh nearby and is suddenly sweet, wishing her
well on the getting the job. Fran looks like she has a migraine coming on.

When Rick and Abby arrive at the country club, dressed for ice skating,
the maitre d is insistent that they adhere to the dress code. He is nice
about it and not too condescending.
Rick and Abby are having a hard time believing that they actually wont be
admitted to their own party.

Blake is distraught and sure that Ross will leave her when he hears the
truth. Holly thinks he will forgive her once he is over the shock. They
gaze into Kevins bassinet and Blake
says she will tell Ross so that the boys will know who they are and where
they come from. She will also do it for herself so that she can look in
the mirror and feel self-respect. Holly thinks her daughter is brave, but
has she thought about Abigail?

Buzz guesses at what Jenna and Jeffrey do for a living, and hes right.
She looks guilty. He demands to know why shes protecting her husband. He
reminds her that he put up $15,000
and the diner to free her. She reassures him that he will be reimbursed.
She really wants him to leave, but the more she tries to push him out the
door, the more determined he is to stay. Her
facade starts to crack a little, and Buzz gently asks her what has her so
scared.

The richest brother and sister in town arrive, with Alan grimly holding a
gift on his lap. Alex is lovely in a glittery beige pantsuit. Alan is,
well, Alan. Fran and Vivian have
complimentary outfits, pale pink for Fran and deep rose, or maybe magenta
for Viv. They have become buddies. Uh oh. Philip wasnt expecting his
father to show up and complains to Fletcher. He complains right back about
the absence of Holly. Lillian and Alex join them, and Lillian kisses her
ex-son-in-law. Phil asks his aunt why Alan is here, and she says he just
wants to wish the couple well. Philip is nervous. He wants everything to
go well for his best buddy. They notice that the guests of honor havent
arrived yet, but no one is worried. They do agree, though, that Blake
should have been there by now.

Blake is busy and not dressed for a party. She had forgotten what the
truth would do to someone like Abigail. She had talked Rick out of being a
father to Kevin and now he will lose Abby because they lied. Holly tries
to help but both know the situation is rather impossible. Blake remembers
that theyre supposed to be at the party now. When she says that everyone in
town will hate her, Holly tells her that she will love her no matter what.
Strengthened by her mothers support, Blake says shes going to tell Ross
and asks Holly to make apologies for her.
After telling her husband, she will then tell Rick that she has.

Finally, Rick and Abby arrive, properly dressed. Annie and Josh greet
them and Annie hopes that they will be as happy as they are (please, not
that!). Alan and Alex are next, and Alan is very flattering. Others step
forward and Annie remembers their engagement to Josh, who looks ill. Guess
who shows up just then? Reva, of course, very happy for Abigail and
looking great in a white suit.

Buzz angrily lists all the great things Jeffrey has done for Jenna, like
letting her sit in a jail cell, and not calling her. She finally reveals
that they are pulling a job tonight, and its the last one. Buzz thinks
shes still lying about something. Jenna says shes close to the baby and
wanted to bring him back to SF. When she tries to escape, he grabs her and
holds on until she
yells in exasperation that its not Jeffreys baby, but hers. Buzz is glad
to hear the truth, but hasnt a clue that hes the daddy. He wants to know
why she didnt tell him, as he would have
wanted to know. She doesnt have a good answer and tries to slip away.
Buzz stops her by promising to bring her and the baby back to SF, but
expects to hear the whole story after they arrive.

Back at the party, Reva hugs Abby and tells her how happy she is for her.
Abby says that her parents have disowned her, but is still happy to be with
Rick. Annie asks Josh to bring her a soda (what is with Annie - she is
incapable of obtaining her own beverages at a party) and he drags off,
seeing Reva on the way. Alan rolls over to Annie, and she tells him that
they need a big distraction to keep Reva busy. Alan agrees. Annie wants
to find the cameo that Sarah gave her baby, but Alan thinks the picture of
Sarah in the cameo is more important. Annie will come up with that. She
runs to Josh and tells him she has to get something from the car.

Blake is on the phone trying to reach poor Ross. She decides to go to
Rosss office, but has no sitter. Since Holly is expected at the party,
she decides to bring the boys with her.

Annie is at Revas, searching for the spare key to let herself in. What a
gal. She finds it.

Blake talks to the twins as she drives to his office. She tells Kevin
that hes Rosss son as well as Ricks.

Philip wants to start the party, but Blake and Michelle havent arrived.
Blake is throwing the party after all. Michelle and Holly arrive at the
same time, and Meta greets Michelle, who
explains that the traffic from the hospital was bad. She asks Michelle if
her brother doesnt look snappy and Michelle cracks up at her terminology.
Holly, in a simple but stylish black dress with white cuffs and collar,
tries to make excuses for her daughter. She was with Blake and they
shouldnt count on her showing up as she was involved in something.
Fletcher wants the scoop and Holly gives him an Oh, Fletcher look. Phil
wants to make a toast to his oldest and dearest friend, Frederick.
Everyone laughs. Phil has been lucky to have Rick for a friend, who has
stuck with him through rough times. He could always count on his
friendship. Rick is tearful as he is thanked for all he has done for his
bud. Phil then toasts the couple and they kiss (the couple, that is).

Jenna phones Jeffrey and says she was delayed by party guests. Buzz and
Jenna leave the room to collect little Coop and return to SF.

Annie is busy breaking and entering and rummaging through Revas house.
In the kitchen she finds a box of photos, one of which is of Sarah.
Perfect, she says, and takes it. She
also sees Reva and Joshs wedding picture. She says that Reva has had her
time with Josh, now its her turn. What will she say she retrieved from
the car?

Reva and Josh share a long look as Rick talks about that one person who
comes into your life and takes your heart. He tells Abigail that he loves
her with all his heart, and they toast.

Blake is driving along and comes to a light which has just turned green.
She glances back at the boys as she goes through the intersection, and is
broadsided by another car. Blake
is unconscious with her head against the steering wheel.
