A fretful day in Springfield, USA...

REVA'S HOUSE: Reva comes downstairs with her coat & vows to keep her
promise to Sarah. She picks up the phone & calls Mrs. Dwight, who
doesn't want to talk to her. Reva begs to know if her sister is alive.

LEWIS HOUSE: Blake (with hair flatter than a pancake) can't see why
Annie wants to mess up Reva's search for her sister. Annie thinks it's
fair, considering how Reva has messed up her life, & tells Blake not to
be so judgmental. Besides, she's not going to prevent Reva from finding
her sister, just delay it a little. Blake wants to talk Annie out of it,
but Annie won't consider changing her mind. Blake doesn't believe that
Reva is chasing after Josh. She also thinks Annie's plan could backfire.
Annie says no one will get hurt, but no one will stop her, either.

Annie insists that Reva is bent on stealing Josh, pointing to things
Reva's done, such as make a spectacle of herself at the ball. Blake says
that's just Reva -- she likes being the center of attention; it's how
she has fun. There were lots of men at the ball, but Annie is sure Reva
was only thinking about Josh. Blake points out that Josh is with Annie,
and Annie's having his baby. Annie wants to hold onto Josh even after
the baby is born. She's sure if she doesn't do something, Reva will take
him away. Blake tries to tell Annie that pregnancy hormones make you
think all kinds of weird things, but Annie knows that Reva is a real
threat. Why does Blake keep defending her?

Blake still thinks that Annie isn't playing fair. Annie dares Blake to
tell her she wouldn't do anything to protect her own family.

REVA'S HOUSE: On the phone, Mrs. Dwight insists that she has nothing to
tell Reva & wants to be left alone. Reva asks again if her sister is
still alive. "What if you were in my place?" asks Reva, appealing to
Mrs. Dwight's sensitivities. Mrs. Dwight claims she's a nice, decent
woman, but she won't help Reva. She agitatedly insists that she knows
nothing about a baby & tells Reva not to bother her again.

SPAULDING ENTERPRISES: Alex on the phone to Alan, is glad he's not there
to see Amanda & Roger "reviewing the troops." They're the entire company
to "build morale." Alex thinks Amanda is undermining their authority &
they can't ignore it, or Amanda & Rog will wipe them off the corporate
map. She listens for a bit, then replies, "No, I haven't ruled out
murder." [ROTFL!] She ends her call when Holly arrives.

Holly dropped in to discuss the reorganization of Spaulding. Alex
wonders why Holly is covering it herself, rather then sending a
financial reporter. Holly says Phil has the night off & she wanted to
get a jump on the story. Alex thinks Holly wants to cover it because of
her interest in Roger. Holly says she's more interested in Alan-
Michael's resignation and the rumor that he gave his voting proxy to
Amanda. She knows there's no love lost between the 2 of them & figures
it must be a slap in the face to the rest of the Spauldings.

Alex says Holly's information is incorrect; AM & Amanda have been
reconciled for some time. Alex makes a crack about Holly's "sources"
having old information; Holly recalls that Fletch once came dangerously
close to joining the Spaulding family. She asks again why AM, who
exposed his sister's seamy past on national TV, would give her his
proxy. Alex suggests he wanted to make amends, or get her started off on
the right foot in her new relationship with Roger.

Speaking of the devil, Rog & Amanda arrive. Rog stops in his tracks when
he sees Holly. Alex suggests that Rog may better be able to answer
Holly's questions. Holly turns toward him. He stares like a deer trapped
in her headlights.

Amanda is glad to see that the Journal is finally taking an interest in
the doings at Spaulding. Rog is flattered that Holly is covering it
personally. Amanda offers to take over the interview, but Alex suggests
she let Rog handle it. Rog demurs. Amanda suggests that they all talk to
Holly. Alex explains Holly's doubts about the smoothness of the
transition. Alex credits Roger's business acumen, but Holly--that is,
the press--already knows about that.

Alex presents a report on Spaulding's Ukrainian venture, which Roger is
heading. Rog doubts Holly's interested in that. Alex says she should be,
since it's a perfect example of how well they are all cooperating. AM
started the project, but Rog has taken it over admirably. Alex suggests
that Rog go over it with Holly, as long as Amanda doesn't mind. "Why
should I?" Amanda asks. Rog leaves the decision to Holly, who agrees.
She & Rog head for the door. Alex asks Amanda to remain behind to sign
some contracts. Amanda takes the papers & looks out the door after Rog.

CARRIAGE HOUSE [A doubly appropriate name now that the twins have taken
up residence]: Rick & Abby are worn out from taking care of the twins.
They relax on the couch & tell each other that they're naturals with
babies. Rick asks how she feels about kids. She can see they're a lot of
work, but a lot of fun too. Rick says they don't have to make a decision
now. Abby wants a house full of kids.

Rick asks what kind of house she wants. She closes her eyes & describes
a bright, sunny, warm, cozy, comfortable place with lots of pretty
things & good, warm smells. And only one rule--the kids can't play in
daddy's office. The kitchen is the heart of the home, where they spend
most of their time. "The kitchen?" asks Rick. "What about the bedroom?"
Abby pretends shock & laughs. She describes the bedroom as a place she
feels love. Rick wants her to feel that way in every room of the house.
Abby wants him to feel that way too.

Suddenly, Abby breaks out of her reverie, worried because they haven't
finished the list Blake asked them to make. Rick says the party will
only last a few hours; meanwhile, they've been planning the rest of
their lives. What's more important? They start kissing, but are
interrupted by a knock at the door. Rick thinks it might be Blake
[wouldn't she just use her key?] & Abby rushes to finish the list. Rick
answers the door to Josh & invites him in.

Josh says he's looking for Ross, because Ross was supposed to deliver
something to him, but never did. Abby & Rick start looking around for
the envelope. Josh says it's pretty important.

LEWIS HOUSE: Blake hands the legal papers to Annie & says she's reading
more into the trust fund than is really there. Annie's sure that in 6 or
7 months, Reva's going to have Josh & she'll have nothing but a big fat
trust fund & a newborn baby. Josh is just trying to ease his conscience.
Blake still doesn't buy it. Annie says Josh called her "Reva" when they
were making love. He won't talk about it & she doesn't want him to think
she's still having a problem with it. Blake says Josh is smart, he loves
Annie, and Reva won't win. "Men don't always think with their brain,"
says Annie. "I think we both know that." She says Blake did what she had
to, to keep Ross & now she has everything she always wanted. Blake says
living a lie is hard. Annie just wants a shot at the perfect life for
herself. Can't Blake understand?

Blake worries that Annie is substituting her obsession with holding onto
Josh for her other addictions. Annie says that's ridiculous. She's just
trying to keep her husband. Blake asks what Annie is planning to do
regarding Reva's sister. Annie is still working out the details.

Marah & Shayne run in, hugging Annie & calling her "Mommy." [ugh] They
had a great time with Reva. Annie hopes they weren't a bother. "They
never are," says Reva.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: No one can find the envelope Josh is looking for. He
doesn't want to disturb Ross's desk & says he'll just call Ross later.
Abby tells him that she & Rick are now engaged, and Josh congratulates
them both. Abby hopes their marriage can be as good as his & Annie's.
Josh manages to keep his smile plastered in place & wishes them the
best. Abby adds that he & Annie are invited to their engagement party.
Josh says he & Annie aren't making very many plans right now, but he'll
be sure to tell her their good news. He says good-bye & leaves. Abby &
Rick start kissing again, until the babies start crying.

LEWIS HOUSE: Reva greets Blake & asks about the twins. Annie invites
Reva to join them for coffee, but Reva says she has to go. She hugs the
kids before they run off to the kitchen with Annie. She notes to Blake
that it's always hard to say good-bye to them. Blake starts to ask
something [like why Reva gave up custody?] but stops herself, saying
it's none of her business. Reva gives her a chance, but Blake keeps her
counsel. Reva heads for the door. Blake hesitates, then goes after her,
meeting up with her in the foyer.

Blake beats around the bush a lot, finally managing to say that there is
obviously a lot of tension between Reva & Annie, & having Reva around
isn't easy for Annie. Reva doesn't see anything wrong with spending a
day with her kids. Reva knows that divorce is complicated for everyone,
but they deal with it as a family. Blake thinks it might be better for
everyone if Reva kept her distance. Reva says she can certainly do that
when it comes to Josh & Annie, but she has no intention of keeping her
distance from her kids. Reva asks if Annie put Blake up to this. Blake
says she just thinks Annie & her baby deserve some happiness. "I would
never deny her that," says Reva. Blake doesn't want anyone to get hurt.
Reva just looks at her incredulously & leaves. Blake sighs.

SPAULDING: Alex is impressed with Amanda's coolness in the face of
Holly, who some might call the love of Roger's life. Amanda is obviously
secure in her relationship with Roger. Amanda says they understand each
other perfectly & she is extremely secure about where they stand with
each other. Alex reiterates her support for Amanda & Rog's marriage. And
Rog is certainly doing good things for the company. Too bad Alan doesn't
see it that way, adds Amanda.

Rog & Holly return. Holly says she has everything she needs. Alex offers
coffee, but Holly says she has to go. The phone rings & Alex takes the
call. She informs Amanda that she's needed in Accounting. Amanda makes
plans to meet Rog at the club later, then gives him a little kiss good-
bye. Holly watches Rog's non-reaction & slight discomfort with some
amusement. Amanda leaves.

Alex is sure Holly will write a very fair, balanced, articulate article
about the doings at Spaulding. Rog offers to accompany Holly out. They
get into the elevator together.

LEWIS HOUSE: Annie brings Blake some coffee, but Blake doesn't want any.
She wants to go home. Annie realizes that Blake hates what Annie is
doing, but doesn't want her to leave this way. The kids are upstairs
playing computer games, so they can talk.

Blake decides to talk turkey with Annie. She thinks Annie's idea to
undermine Reva's search for her sister is terrible & ugly, no matter how
you look at it. Annie worries that Blake talked to Reva about it, but
Blake assures her she didn't. Blake advises Annie to talk to Josh about
her feelings about Reva. He deserves to know. "Like you did with Ross?"
asks Annie. Blake says this is different. Annie thinks it's exactly the
same. She says Blake could lose everything if the truth comes out about
the twins. Blake senses a threat. Annie thinks Blake should reconsider
how she feels. If they both keep quiet, they will both have what they
want. "What if I don't want to help you anymore, Annie?" asks Blake.
Annie doesn't answer. Blake leaves with Annie calling after her to thank
her for her support & tell her to kiss the twins, etc.

Josh returns, calling to Annie from the front door. She quickly places
the legal papers on the coffee table. Josh asks if there was a delivery
for him. She says yes, and apologizes for opening it by accident. Josh
wishes she hadn't done that & wants to explain. Annie says it's very
thoughtful that he wants to make provisions for her & the baby. She says
they can talk about it when she gets back. She has to go check on Alan.

REVA'S HOUSE/CARRIAGE HOUSE: Reva tries to reach Ross on the phone. Rick
runs to answer the phone before it wakes the babies again. "Who is this
& why do you have to be so loud?" he asks. After figuring out who
they're talking to, Reva asks for Ross & Rick promises to give him the
message. Abby asks Rick to tell Reva that she's invited to their party,
but Rick forgets & hangs up without telling her.

They look at the list again. Abby asks if it's too long. Rick says they
only need two people--each other. They start kissing again, until Blake
comes home. They tell her the babies are fine. Rick jokes that they
changed their diapers 19 times. "Sometimes people do stupid things for
all the right reasons," responds Blake. Abby goes back to work on the
list while Rick asks Blake what's wrong. Blake says it's hard living a
lie. "Tell me about it," replies Rick.

OUTSIDE MRS. DWIGHT'S HOUSE: Via cell phone, Annie thanks Alan for the
material that's going to send Reva on a wild goose chase.

SPAULDING ELEVATOR: Rog & Holly stand beside each other silently,
watching the numbers & occasionally glancing at each other. The elevator
starts to shake and the numbers start flashing very quickly. Roger looks
concerned & Holly asks why it's going so fast. The lights go out & Holly
gets upset & tells Roger to do something as the car continues it's over-
rapid descent. Rog punches some buttons on the panel, with no apparent
effect. Holly grabs onto him & he holds her tightly as the elevator
seems to free-fall through the shaft. She is clearly terrified & Rog,
also concerned, tries to reassure her. He says he feels it slowing down.
The car stops abruptly, sending Holly & Rog falling to the floor.

DWIGHT HOUSE: Annie tells Mrs. Dwight she doesn't have to worry about
Reva Shayne. "I will take care of her, I promise."

REVA'S HOUSE: The phone rings & the answering machine picks up. Reva
waits to hear who it is, & when she learns that it's Josh, she steps
back from the phone. He says he needs to talk to her; it's important.
Reva picks up. "I'm here, Bud."

ELEVATOR: Holly, still scared, asks Rog in a whisper what happened. He
asks if she's all right & starts to get up, but she pulls him back down,
apparently afraid of what might happen if they move. He laughs & says
the cable slipped, that's all. He assures her that the elevator is
loaded with safety devices & they will be fine, but they might be stuck
there awhile. He strokes her hair & tells her everything will OK, as the
screen fades to black.
