                        GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE
                      TUESDAY, February 4, 1997

Springfield PD Jail: An upset Jenna paces her cell. Enter Buzz demanding
to know if Frank's charges are true.

Marler/Thorpe Penthouse: Dinah's worried about the disappearance of her
Euro-trash friends.

Spaulding Mansion: Annie and Alan argue about his physical therapy
progress. Enter Philip as Annie warns he could hurt himself if he tries to
walk too soon.

Springfield Journal: Amanda and Roger approach Holly's office. Roger
isn't sure why they're there...Amanda is can't wait to brag about being
given Alan-Michael's voting shares for Spaulding Enterprises. Holly and
Amanda trade put downs--regurgitated formula stains on one's blouse versus
wasting the valuable time of important people. Finally Holly sends Amanda
off to see the business editor who will know just what to do with Amanda's
news bulletin. Roger stays behind. Holly offers her congratulations on
acquiring everything he always wanted. Roger says now that he has it, he
isn't sure it's all that important. He stops, leaving a pregnant pause.

Penthouse: Hart says Dinah is better off without Jean Luc and Company.
After all, they are shallow people. More tedious arguing about protecting
Dinah and trusting her judgment.

Jail: Frank says the Grant's silent alarm went off when Jenna opened the
safe and he answered the call. Buzz wants to talk to Jenna alone, but
before he can Jenna asks to speak privately with Frank. After Buzz leaves,
Jenna gives Frank the London phone number for the nanny and Coop and asks
him to make sure the baby is OK. After Buzz returns she asks him to leave,
but Buzz wants to first know what she is hiding.

Spaulding Mansion: Annie and Philip chat about her job while Alan conducts
business over the phone. More unpleasant arguing about Alan's impatience
to walk. After unsuccessfully trying to mimic the Little Red Hen, he
forces Philip and Annie to help him to stand. The music swells.

Journal: Roger makes a very conciliatory speech about what he has always
dreamed about achieving and what he really wants. Holly's reluctant to
offer her own opinions, but after he leaves we can tell she is shaken.

Penthouse: Dinah won't give up on the trail of her Euro-trash pals.
Finally Hart realizes she won't stop until she finds them and he offers to
reveal their whereabouts.

Jail: Jenna tells Buzz that she was retired from crime until the ball,
when the sight of all those loverly jewels reawakened her "skills." She
admits she did go to the Grants to steal from them, but she had a change of
heart and was actually returning the sapphires when Frank nabbed her. Buzz
says her story still doesn't add up, and, by the way, where's hubby
Jeffrey? Jenna assures him that Jeffrey's probably assembling her bail
money as they speak. Frank returns to say no one answered at the London
number. He explains to Buzz that Jeffrey's son is expecting Jenna. Buzz
is confused by all the conflicting baby information, but he goes off to try
and call for Jenna.

Spaulding: Alan completes his circumnavigation of the study and returns to
his chair. More arguing about trying to accelerate his PT schedule. Alan
exits, leaving Philip deep in thought. As much as he hates Alan, he has to
admit he has guts. Annie says there's nothing wrong with being obsessed
about getting what you want. Philip is surprised by this admission and
asks about her relationship with Josh. Annie rags on Reva, basically
blaming every last problem on Josh's ex. Philip tries to defend Reva, but
Annie claims no one really understands. Philip tries to comfort her, but
says since Josh and Reva share children she'd better get used to having her
around. Enter Roger and Amanda; exit Annie and Philip soon after. Roger
is still puzzled by why Alan Michael gave his voting rights to Amanda.
She's offended that he doubts Alan Michael's love for her. Roger cautions
not to let her need for family approval get in the way of understanding
truth. In reality, Alan Michael was trying to hurt Alan more than he was
trying to grant Amanda his approval.

Journal: Enter the business editor to talk with Holly.about Roger.

Jail: Buzz returns with the news he got in touch with Nanny and baby is
fine. She says Jeffrey is making "arrangements" and the baby gave him a
kiss to pass along to her. She's touched. Enter Frank with the news that
Jeffrey checked out of their hotel last night and skipped town.

Penthouse: Dinah wants to call the police to track down her friends. Hart
says this isn't police business. They left because he paid them off.

Spaulding: Amanda and Roger continue a testy conversation. He warns her
about overconfidence; she tells him to remember their engagement is just a
fake and that she's calling all the shots. (A sure sign that she's
completely lost control.)

Journal: The business editor has written a piece about Amanda's news--do
they run it or not? Holly advises waiting a bit, since nothing with Roger
is ever what it seems.

Jail: Jenna insists Jeffrey is on his way. As Frank takes her away for
her hearing, Buzz vows to prove her innocence.
