GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE FOR FRIDAY FEBRUARY 9, 1996

	LEWIS CONSTRUCTION SHACK

Amanda arrives looking for Matt, but no one is there. Blake arrives and
asks what Amanda said to Ross.

	JOSH/ANNIE'S HOUSE

Ross tells Josh and Annie that the hearing is the next day and Reva is
going to ask for temporary custody of the kids. Josh thinks Reva doesn't
care who she hurts as long as she gets what she wants. Ross asks if
they're not telling him something. Annie says that Reva is going to go
after her and say that she's an unfit parent. Ross, "Reva's opinions,
loud as they are, don't carry much in court. They'd have to prove that
you are in some way a danger to the well-being of the children. So,
unless you have some deep, dark secret, Reva doesn't have a leg to stand
on in that regard." Josh tells Annie to tell Ross. Ross asks what?
Annie, "My deep, dark secret."

	ALAN'S HOUSE

Reva is still upset with Alan when they get home. Alan tells her that
his son's safety and having her by his side are more important than all
the money he lost. He says he loves her and tries to kiss her, but Reva
pulls away. Reva feels foolish hearing him say that and calls Alan a
back-stabbing liar. She knows that he talked to Annie. Alan says he was
trying to help her. Doorbell. It's Althea, Reva's lawyer. Alan tells
her that character assassination isn't the way they should go. Althea
tells them they just want to let the court know about the environment the
children are living in, "We have enough dirt on that woman to plant a
garden." She hands Reva a file.

	JOSH/ANNIE'S

Annie tells Ross about her alcoholism. He's upset that they didn't tell
him earlier because now his strategy won't work. Annie offers to
move out. Josh argues with her. Ross says that if Reva brings up
Annie's past, they'll bring up Reva's-- massive instability, numerous
affairs, and Alan Spaulding.

	CONSTRUCTION SITE

Amanda says she's there to tell Matt she's not building a house. Blake,
"Very smooth." Amanda, "I use moisturizer. Everyone should." Blake
asks what Amanda said to Ross. Amanda tells her that she fired Ross.
Blake doesn't believe her and asks if she found another cause since
Marcus' defense fund isn't necessary. "Animal rights? No, not in that
coat. <Amanda is wearing a fur coat.> Support group for
exhibitionists?" Amanda tells Blake that it didn't seem fair to have a
professional relationship with Ross when it put such a strain on Blake.
Blake asks Amanda if she was slamming her behind her back. Amanda, "I
was only pointing out the obvious." Blake asks if Amanda was lying at
the Towers when she said she was going after Ross or is she lying now.
Amanda admits that she wanted Ross, but now she realizes that Ross could
never love a homewrecker. She considers Ross a lost cause. Blake
doesn't believe her, "the fork in your tongue is a dead giveaway" and
neither will Vanessa. Amanda doesn't want Blake to talk to Vanessa,
because Van will talk to Matt. Blake, "What is Matt Reardon to you?"

Amanda told her before that she's given up plans for a house and wants
Blake to stop telling people she's a troublemaker. Blake doesn't buy
Amanda's change of heart and Vanessa warned that Amanda would try it.
Blake can't wait to tell her. Amanda grabs her arm and tells Blake not
to do it. She's told so many lies to Blake that when she's telling the
truth, Blake doesn't want to hear it. She's given up on Ross. Blake,
"Too neat, too easy. A snake can shed it's skin, but it's still a
snake." Blake isn't buying Amanda's act. Amanda tells Blake that Ross
didn't marry her for her mind, "you're a hopeless dimwit!" Amanda would
have gotten Ross eventually. Amanda can't imagine why Ross married Blake
except to "scratch his middle-age itch." Blake, "This from catwoman."
Amanda, "Look at you. You're whiny, insecure and tackier than dice in a
pickup truck. You don't need me to ruin your marriage, your juvenile
antics will do the job for you and I'm amazed you've held on to Ross this
long." Blake tells her that Ross loves her, body and soul. She leaves.

They both count to ten to control their tempers. Blake sees a padlock
on the door and locks Amanda in. Amanda screams at Blake to unlock it,
but Blake tells her that there is no key.

	CEDARS

Rick and Ed both got subpoenas to testify at the hearing. Rick is
worried about Annie.

	ALAN'S

Alan tries to talk Reva out of using Annie's past. Althea tells Reva
that Ross will use her past and Alan's past, "Ross will paint you as a
woman who abandoned her family and is shacked up with a man of dubious
reputation, a convicted felon." Reva will get back to her about whether
to use the info about Annie. Althea leaves. Reva tells Alan that she
won't lose her children because of him.

	JOSH/ANNIE'S

Josh tells Annie that Alan is a bigger risk to the chldren and they'll
prove it. Ross, "And love every minute of it." Annie thinks that it
will be too late and asks how Reva can be so hateful. Josh tells her
that Reva always lashes out when she's hurt. Annie yells that "she"
isn't going to ruin her life. Marah comes in and tearfully tells "Mommy"
not to be mad at her, she won't do it again. Annie tells her that she's
not mad at her, "you're Mommy's good, sweet little girl." Marah asks why
Annie was mad, madder than when Shayne glued her keys together. Josh
says it's grownup things. Ross leaves. Marah asks if Josh and Annie are
in trouble. They tells her that Ross is a friend and they aren't in
trouble. Marah asks Annie if Daddy made her mad. Annie says no. Marah,
"Did my first momma do something?" Annie tells her to go to bed. Annie
could never get mad at Marah and asks if anyone has seen the wedding
picture of the four of them. Marah asks if Shayne told her that she took
it. Annie knows Marah didn't take it, because "good little girls like
you don't take things that aren't theirs, right?" Marah goes upstairs.
Josh asks Annie why Marah seems so defensive. He thinks this has
affected her in a huge way. Annie says they'll get through it and she
won't let Reva hurt them. Annie has realized that Reva can't dredge up
Annie's past if they don't want to bring in Alan's past. Annie goes to work.

	ALAN'S

Reva could lose her kids if Ross goes after Alan. Alan asks why she's
doing this and tells her to go to Josh with an olive branch instead of a
scud missle. Reva thinks it's too late because Josh wants to keep her
away from her kids. They may have come to terms without a fight, but it
wouldn't last, because Josh can't give without taking something back.
He's a Lewis and she's a Shayne. She can't be beholden to him anymore.
She spent a lifetime looking for her place in this world and she felt
that when she finally had Josh she'd feel safe and secure. Josh always
told her what to do and what to be and she won't let him do that to her
children. Alan tells her they can find a middle ground. Reva, "No. With
Bud it's all or nothing. I'm sorry, but I'm moving out."

	CEDARS

Rick tells Ed that he can refuse to answer on the grounds of priveledged
information as an AA sponsor. Ed tells him that the courts have forced
people to testify about AA meetings or face contempt. Rick doesn't
understand why Reva is going after Annie. Ed explains that she's doing
what any parent would do when their children are being threatened. Ed
tries to get Rick to understand how a parent feels. Ed understands Reva,
even though he doesn't like what she's doing. Rick says Annie has asked
him to lie for her, that her drinking wasn't that bad. Ed says Rick
would be an enabler if he did that. Rick knows that. Ed asks what Rick
wants to happen. Rick, "I want Reva and Josh to patch things up and I
want my life back with Annie." Ed can't blame him. Rick thinks Josh and
Reva still love each other or they wouldn't be fighting. He thinks Annie
lost Josh the minute he found out that Reva was alive and Rick will be
there if Annie falls. Annie walks in and asks if she interrupted
something. Ed tells her they were talking about the hearing. Annie
wishes she could go back and change her past. An older couple arrives in
the emergency room (he fell while ice-skating). The couple bicker, Annie
and Rick smile.

	MARLER'S HOME

Blake comes home. Ross hugs her-- he says she's frozen. Blake, "Your
body warmth can take care of that. Open your robe to get the full
effect." Ross can only offer hot chocolate. Blake kisses him. He has
work to do. Blake, "I'm in desperate need of legal action." Ross can't
because of Josh's hearing, she understands doesn't she? Blake pouts and
walks out of the room.

	CONSTRUCTION SITE

Amanda yells for help. She's about to call the police, but decides not
to. She'll get Blake for this, but how?

Amanda has a fantasy in black and white:

Amanda is locked in the shack when Ross comes in dressed as a Mountie.
Ross: Blazing blizzards. My poor popsicle Amanda. What's happened?
Amanda: I dare not say. You love her so.
Ross: Holy cryogenics. Iceberg Blake left you here to congeal?
Amanda: Alas 'tis true, Mountie Marler. She hates me for loving you.
Ross: But then what do you expect from the daughter of Snidely
Whiplash. A fire-- I'll build you a fire to defrost you.
Amanda: No, don't waste your time rubbing sticks together. Rub your
lips against mine.
Ross: Frosted Flagpoles!

They kiss and the screen turns from B&W to color.

Amanda: You've saved my life!
Ross: Holy snow cones, now I know you're the woman for me and I vow to
you, Iceberg Blake will pay for this treachery.
Amanda: My hero!
Ross: My Amanda.
Amanda: Now, show me why they call you mounties.

They stretch out on the desk and kiss.

Amanda's fantasy ends. She smiles.

	CEDARS

Rick treats Maurice (the older man) while Annie treats Helen (his wife)
for a bruise on her face. Rick says they'll be fine. After the couple
leaves, Rick tells Annie that the couple reminds him of the two of them
when they were in Chicago. Annie, "When people care about each other
they don't let them make stupid mistakes. Like you and me."

	MARAH'S ROOM

Marah says her prayers and blesses everyone. Josh reminds her to
include her Momma, so she blesses Momma. Marah gets into bed and Josh
kisses her goodnight. After he leaves, Marah goes to the window and asks
God, "don't let me do anything to make them be apart. Please don't let
me be a problem."

	ALAN'S

Reva tells Alan that she thought of moving out long before Althea
suggested it. It's only until things are settled. She's doing
it to show Josh how serious she is about getting her kids back. Alan
thinks Reva is scared to death to lose Josh. Reva doesn't want to lose
the kids. Alan, "The custody battle is only something to keep you tied
with Josh. Because when you said 'always', you meant it." Reva, "I know
petty jealousy when I hear it, I just never thought you'd lower
yourself." Alan, "You're using your kids to get their father back."
Reva just wants to be with her children. Alan wants her to admit it to
herself that she wants Josh. Reva asks what she's supposed to do to
prove that it's over with Josh, shoot him? Alan, "That would be a
start." Reva, "'Always' was just a romantic notion, nothing more." She
knew Josh would be mad but hoped he'd back down. She's just fighting for
her kids. Alan doesn't believe her.

	MARLER'S

Ross is working. Blake walks up to him in a negligee and high heels.

	CONSTRUCTION SHACK

Amanda, "Me and the mounties. We always get our man."

	JOSH'S

Josh looks around the livingroom, then opens the front door and looks out.

	ALAN'S

Reva says it's not about Joshua, Alan is acting like a jealous fool and he
knew that she wanted her children back. Alan says she set up a situation
where Josh had to hand them over (Josh wouldn't) or Annie would have to
leave the house for him to keep them. He says Reva is out to get Annie,
not the kids. Reva tells him that she's not doing that. Alan wants her
to admit it's all about getting Josh back. Alan tells her to drop the
whole custody battle or lose him for good.

	CEDARS

Rick asks why Annie is comparing that couple to them. Annie tells him
it's because he wouldn't lie for her. She's sorry for putting him in a
awkward position. She doesn't need him to lie for her, because
everything will turn out great. Rick asks what if it doesn't. Annie,
"I'll deal with it. No more lies or secrets ever." Rick, "I knew there
was a reason I loved you." Annie's eyes pop open.
