                    AFTER THE DELUGE...
                         -or-
                   WRAP-UPS R BORING

Written by Jeanne Glynn & directed by Irene M. Pace

Highlights (if you can call them that):
* Brent or Marian? Only their imaginary hairdresser knows for sure.
* Ross sees Amanda for what she is & sends her out for a walk.
* AM & Lucy reCooperate at Cedars.
* Dinah learns Hart used her for revenge, but claims the same motive.
* Rog fails repeatedly at winning back his wife & vows revenge on Hart.

Evening in Springfield, USA...

LIGHTHOUSE, EXTERIOR: The camera flashes on various onlookers, all
looking shocked. Frank asks Brent, "What did you say?" In his best
Marian voice, Brent replies that he completely understands the charges,
but thinks Frank has made a mistake. It was that dreadful man, Brent
Lawrence. Buzz goes berserk, screaming that Brent's not going to get off
on an insanity plea. He grabs a rifle from one of the SWAT team members
& officers rush to hold him back as Brent cowers.

MARLER LAW OFFICE: Ross can't wait to take Roger to court. Rog isn't so
sure that's going to happen. He warns that Dinah's in danger from Hart,
who admitted he only slept with Dinah to get back at Rog. Blake enters
in time to hear this last little tidbit. "Bully for Hart," she cheers.

LEWIS CONSTRUCTION: Dinah doesn't believe that Hart is leaving. Matt &
Hart bicker over her head. She asks Hart to tell her the truth. "He's
right," admits Hart. "I'm leaving town tonight." Dinah's face falls.

Dinah wants to know what's going on. She can't believe he's walking out
on her. Matt keeps butting in to tell her what a user Hart is, & Hart
says nothing. Matt wants to take Dinah home, but she wants to talk to
Hart alone, so Matt leaves.

Dinah asks Hart what the deal is. Didn't they spend last night together?
Didn't he say he loved her? Hart says it was terrific, but he doesn't
fit in & he never intended to stick around. He never wanted to get
involved with anyone. He's too much of a loner. He's not the guy for
her. "I'm nothing, I'm nobody." Dinah doesn't buy this. He doesn't sound
like the guy she was with last night. "What happened to him?" She
worries that her father or Roger got to him. Hart slams some stuff to
the floor in frustration, then finally admits that every move he made on
her was to get back at his dad.

ROSS'S OFFICE: Blake says it's Rog's own fault if Hart slept with Dinah,
because Rog betrayed her. Rog tries to attack Blake's marriage, but she
joins Ross behind his desk & affirms that their marriage is great &
they've never been closer. Ross agrees. "You may not care about your
daughter, but I care about mine," says Rog. He warns Blake about Amanda
is after Ross, but Blake says she's not worried. "You should be,"
replies Rog. Ross shows Rog the door. Rog says he hopes Blake will soon
believe him. Ross tells Rog to have his accountant send the financial
statements. Rog gives Blake one last warning about her husband's being
only human, then leaves. Ross hopes Rog didn't get to Blake.

LIGHTHOUSE, EXT: The cops hold back as he continues to rant at Buzz. Two
more cops take Brent away, as he continues to talk like Marian. Frank
hugs Lucy. AM tells Lucy not to worry; Brent will be put away. Alan
worries about AM's bleeding arm. Reva suggests they go to the hospital.
AM is finally convinced to leave. Alan says he never thought he'd see
such a happy ending for everyone. Reva gives him a disgusted look &
walks away.

ROSS'S OFFICE: Ross hopes that Blake isn't taking Rog's warnings
seriously. Blake says Rog knows how to zero in on someone's weak points.
She's sorry Dinah got caught between her dad & her brother. Ross steers
her back to the subject of Amanda. He says Amanda is not their "weak
point," because they both love each other.

[CBS interrupts to report on a fatal train crash in NJ for about 3 mins]

LEWIS CONSTRUCTION: Dinah is incensed that Hart used her to get back at
Rog. Hart says he didn't make up the stuff that Rog did to hurt her.
Dinah says she didn't need him to pluck her from the arms of Satan. She
wonders whether he was even going to bother to tell her he was leaving.
Hart's silence is his answer. Dinah figures he never felt a thing for
her. "You probably didn't even know I was in your bed, you were so busy
punishing Roger." Hart says he didn't push her into any-thing. "You're
worse than Roger. You're scum," says Dinah in disgust, turning away.
Hart doesn't get it. Dinah didn't care about him either. She wanted to
divorce Rog anyway. "What's going on?" he asks, walking over to look her
in the face. She turns away. "Damn," he says softly. "You do care."

Hart apologizes. He didn't think this would happen. Dinah says she
doesn't care at all--she was just using Hart to get back at Rog, same as
he was using her. Hart doesn't believe her, so she plays it to the hilt.
She's glad he admitted to using her first, so she didn't have to hurt
him. He was good in bed, but that's it. He's *exactly* like his dad.
"Don't say that," says Hart. Dinah insists it's true & finds it hard to
believe that Rog didn't raise Hart himself. "Now do you believe me?"
asks Rog, who has just materialized in the doorway.

CEDARS: Ed reassures Lucy that the freshly bandaged AM is going to be
fine. Alan stops by & learns the same. AM, ripe with 2 new pints of
blood, wants to go home, but Ed wants him to stay overnight to make sure
he doesn't have an infection. Ed thinks Lucy should stay too & AM is all
for this. Ed steps out & AM asks Alan if the money in bag was his. Lucy
apologizes for losing it, but she had to hit Brent with something. Alan
says he couldn't have put it to better use & it's only money. The most
important thing is that they're both safe. AM thanks his dad.

In the reception area, Reva paces. Buzz thinks she looks sexy when she's
haggard. Alan enters & gives them a look.

Nick listens in as AM & Lucy argue about whether she's going to spend
the night in the hospital. Nick jokes that they need a referee, not a
doctor. He says Susan was going to bring some stuff over for the two of
them & Lucy is thrilled to hear that Susan is out of her coma. Nick says
Brent is going to pay for everything he's done.

JAIL: Frank locks Brent in a cell & asks once more if he wants a lawyer.
Brent waves it off in his Marian voice. Frank is disgusted, but Levy
tells him to go by the book. [Gee, where have I heard that before?] Levy
takes a try, but Brent keeps playing Marian. He insists that even if he
wanted to help, he can't until they catch Brent, because Brent warned
him not to say anything or else. Frank gets angry, & Levy & Nell have to
pull him away from the cell. Frank rants about not letting Brent get
away with it after what he did to Nadine, et al. He wants to pound a
confession out of Brent. Nell assures Frank that they all know Brent is
faking & Levy says once the attorney gets there, they will also call for
a psychiatric evaluation. Frank says he knows a way to find out if Brent
is faking it, & it's by the book. In his cell, Brent rocks back & forth.

ROSS'S OFFICE: Amanda has come by to "fire" Ross as her lawyer. It's all
very amicable, but she no longer needs his legal services, since she's
now getting along with her family. Blake cools her heels in the outer
office, obviously concerned about what's going on inside. What's going
on is that Amanda is thanking Ross for all his help & for taking her
seriously. Ross says that's what friends are for. Amanda wishes they
could be friends, but they both know why that's not possible. Blake
tries to listen through the door. "Louder!" she urges them, to herself.

Amanda admires a man who's top priority is reassuring his insecure wife.
Ross bridles at this characterization of Blake, but Amanda says anyone
can see it. "I don't," says Ross. Amanda says that's because he sees
Blake's overprotectiveness & possessiveness as devotion. Ross disagrees
as this too. Blake *is* devoted to him. Amanda says Blake is like a
little girl who has to always be the center of attention. Ross starts to
get offended & thinks Amanda is coming awfully close to insulting his
wife. He thinks maybe Blake has been right about Amanda all along.

VAN & MATT'S: Matt gives Van the lowdown on Hart's latest escapades, &
Bridget's assessment that Hart cares only for himself. Van worries about
how Jet is taking it. The only good thing she can think of is that Jet
now realizes Hart is no good for her or Peter. She switches her concern
to Dinah, stuck between two Thorpes. She thinks it would be best for
Dinah if they & Jet don't talk to anyone about it. She wants to go to
Dinah, but worries that Dinah will think she is only coming to gloat.
Van is angry at Hart for hurting her family & worries that just because
Hart says he's leaving town, doesn't mean he really will.

LEWIS CONSTRUCTION: Rog continues to say I-told-you-so to Dinah & berate
Hart for his low-down dirty deed. "I didn't do anything to you you
didn't deserve," says Hart. "Thanks a lot," says Dinah, peeved. Rog
blames himself for not protecting Dinah. Hart can't believe Rog's bull,
but knows Dinah won't buy it. She notes that Rog at least told her the
truth one time, which is more than she can say for Hart. Rog tells Dinah
he wants her back. Hart urges her not to believe him. Rog says he
forgives what happened between her & Hart, if only she'll come back to
him. Dinah looks at him with disbelief. "Roger, I slept with your son.
You're supposed to be furious." Rog says it doesn't matter & begs some
more. Hart implores her again to not go back to Rog.

Dinah tells Hart to stop acting like he cares about, when all he wants
is to torture Rog. Hart says he doesn't care what she does. He & Rog
argue about each other's motives until Dinah yells at them to shut up &
stop talking about her like she's not even in the room. "You're
disgusting; you deserve each other." She hopes they'll be very happy
together & never wants to see either of them again. She storms out.

VAN & MATT'S: Van says there's nothing they can do for Dinah except wait
for her to come to them so they can help her pick up the pieces. Matt
agrees. He remembers when he was as messed up as Dinah & thanks his
lucky stars that he found true love with Van. She feels the same way.
They can't imagine life with each other, but decide they'll never have
to find out. Hugs & kisses, etc.

CEDARS: Susan arrives, to everyone's delight. She, AM & Lucy
congratulate one another on surviving Brent/Marian. Susan unveils some
champagne, plus bottled water for AM. Nick toasts to love & life.

In the reception area, Buzz gives Alan high marks for coming through for
their kids. Alan says Buzz did his part, too. Reva stays out of it,
staring out the door. Ed drops in to update them on their kids &
suggests that the dads could use some sleep too. Alan decides to say
good-bye to AM & Lucy.

Buzz asks Reva what happened to Alan's "adoring sidekick." He wonders
what's up with the 2 of them. She doesn't answer him, just asks how he's
doing. He's glad Lucy is safe. Reva says that's all any of them want--to
have their kids be safe & sound. Alan returns & wants to take Reva home.
Buzz asks to talk to her for a sec & Alan assents. Buzz tells Reva his
offer still stands & she has a choice. "I have to go," says Reva,
briefly taking his chin in her hand. She follows Alan out the door.

JAIL: Brent acts very prim in his cell. Meanwhile, Frank tells Cassie
that they have to find out if Brent's faking & she can help. She doesn't
know if she can do it. Frank says she's the only one who can & promises
she'll be OK. She agrees & goes to Brent's cell. Brent continues to act
like Marian, recognizing Cassie as the woman who came to his apartment &
asked him about Brent. She says she came about him, her brother. Brent
says he's sorry to tell her that her brother is a very evil man. Cassie
says she wants to help him. Brent says he can't trust her. She blames
herself for letting him down when they were kids & for letting their
mother hurt him. Brent says she seems like a nice woman, but he can't
discuss her brother. He apologizes for covering for Brent the time he
saw her. "I never should have done that. He was very bad." Cassie yells
at him to stop it. "Stop what?" She runs away. Frank looks dejected.

Brent continues to tidy up his cell. The bed is neat as a pin. He sits
on the edge of it & rocks back & forth again, thinking to himself as
Marian: "Mustn't panic. I'll remain calm, cool & collected. They'll
realize soon that they've made a horrible mistake. They'll realize I
couldn't have done those horrible things. After all, I'm a lady."

CEDARS: AM tells Lucy she was spectacular, the way she held onto him at
the top of the lighthouse. She returns the compliment. They decide they
can do anything together & seal the agreement with a kiss.

ROSS'S OFFICE: Amanda begs Ross not to be angry with her. She didn't
mean to insult Blake. Ross isn't very forgiving. He answers a phone call
& Amanda lets herself out. She doesn't say a word to Blake on her way
out. Blake starts to go toward the inner office, but changes her mind &
grabs her coat. She follows Amanda outside.

Ross finishes his phone call & calls to Blake. He comes into the outer
office & is confused when he doesn't see her.

LEWIS CONSTRUCTION: Hart says Rog is the one who Dinah left. Rog
congratulates his son for being a chip off the old block, a
characterization that Hart does not appreciate. Hart takes his coat &
leaves. Rog vows that Hart will be sorry. Freeze frame on Rog's
determined face as the screen fades to black.
