################################################################################

Opening shots of Christos and Eleni. He smiles, she saunters.

Replay of Dinah's intro to Vanessa:

Dinah, speaking half English, half French, says hi to mom. They
hug, and ma introduces daughter to beau. Then, the party begins. Bridget,
Lucy, and David tromp in, and Vanessa introduces them all. Bridget seems
particularly amused. Dinah greets David with "enciente". Dinah congratulates
herself on her sense of timing, a party, she says, but Vanessa doesn't say
what the party is for.

Replay of Roger and Tangie:

He asks her what she was going to say to him about Holly before she
left. She says that it wasn't important, that there is no need to bring it
back up. He pushes, and she says she was just going to say that Holly was
being vindictive to her. Roger doesn't buy it. So why did she change her mind?

Fletcher and Holly:

Fletcher asks totally cold. "What we had was stomped out cold. Have
a nice life. See you at the office."

Roger and Tangie:

Tangie says that Holly just realized how unfair she was being and
tried to make it up to her. She tries to make Roger just forget about it:
"You two have reconciled...I don't know why you want to create problems."
Roger sees this point--"I should be counting my blessings, and I'm trying."
He starts to leave, but as he gets to the door, he turns around. "I need
someone to talk to." He admits that he thinks Holly has a lover.

Fletcher and Holly:

Holly apologizes to Fletcher for hurting him. "Don't flatter yourself,"
he bites back. He abuses himself a bit. He should have known better than to
get mixed up in the Thorpe/Lindsay madness. He compares her to a battered wife
who always defends her husband. She wonders why he always felt a need to
rescue her, when she never needed rescuing. "Roger is fulfilling all his
promises. How can I not go back to him?" "Are you asking for my permission?
You got it, red." He rolls out the door.

The Chamberlain/Lewis residence party:

Dinah is on break. Vanessa says she wishes she had let her know she
was coming so she could have "rolled out the red carpet". Dinah lights up a
smoke. (The french continues to spew out as well.) Mara and Shane fly by,
and the party begins to pick up. Annie comes. The kids don't like the lady
who is smoking. (She doesn't seem to think much of them either.) Josh
recognizes Dinah and says "hi" as if he saw her yesterday. Lillian comes in
and starts yelling. Dinah hugs her happily. [If there is some history between
these two, I don't know it.] Ed and Eve join in, and Dinah flirts a little
with the good doctor. Buzz comes in looking for a corkscrew and Dinah says
to her mom, "Go play hostess, cheri. I'll catch up with you later." [In case
I'm not getting this across, I believe her frenchisms are supposed to be
condescending and annoying.] Dinah goes to toss her cigarette and meets Blake
at the door. "Do I know you?" ask Mrs. Marler. Dinah doesn't think so. It
turns out, she has a cab waiting for her, but she has no intention of using
it any time soon. (Point being that Dinah is completely inconsiderate. The
smoking, the cab, the condescension are thick as a t-bone.) Blake goes
a-looking for her man, and Dinah jumps for champagne, taking another's glass.

Dinah asks her mom a few living arrangements questions. Who lives here,
and the like. Henry joins them, and she flirts a little with the old man.
He wonders why she wears sunglasses. "Because I like to look at people without
them knowing I'm looking at them." He wonders if it is french to call your
mother by her first name. Oh definitely, Henry. Dinah is introduced to Buzz.
She says he looks like a french film star, Gerard. Hamp and Lenora Johnston
[a new character, I think] join the party and get a nasty look from Gilly and
a look of lust from David.

Ross comes in and his wife mentions the mysterious young lady. She
puts her out to Ross, and Dinah and daddy lock eyes. Genuine-looking joy
flows from both. "Daddy?" They hug, while Vanessa looks on, frowning. Blake
joins them, and Ross introduces his daughter to his wife. Blake is cordial,
says she'd like to get to know her better. "That's very sweet of you," Dinah
cooes. Vivian and the Doctor come late. The Doctor apologizes. Vanessa
tells Vivian about Dinah, and she says "how exciting".

Lucy watches Matt's butt as he goes up the stairs, and then goes to
Buzz and Nadine and says she is worried about Frank. She's sure something is
wrong. [Very clever segue.]

Frank in the Greek taverna:

He plays backgammon with Eleni's brothers. Ya-Ya watches. Frank
is not calm. He keeps yelling about the "wacky adonis". And something about
the stupidity of wanting the Eleni and Christos married. Just then, Christos'
sister [Demetra?] arrives. She says she never wanted them married.

Eleni and Christos:

"Don't you ever get lonely here?" Eleni asks. Christos tells her that
the island was once a monestary, and he feels that he, like the old inhabitants,
has come to love the island dearly. He doesn't want to leave, and he is
never lonely. Eleni agrees that the island is special. "Whatever spirits are
here are kind. Like you. I don't understand why you are doing this to my
family."

Roger and Tangie:

They sit at the table, drinking coffee, and sharing. Roger says Holly
is different. Ever since Christmas. It has taken a lifetime for him to
get her to trust him, and now everything is wrong. She keeps him at a distance,
and then all of a sudden, she is "clingy". Sometimes, he even catches her
looking at him with pity. "You can't love someone you pity." Tangie says that
he should just give her time. "She's not Holly anymore," Roger continues.
"She's a stranger most of the time." He says that she has practically admitted
to an affair. Tangie says he should let it go. "Why would anyone really
want to know [the details]." He says he agreed not to pursue it, but
it's "eating me up". All he wants is to know who it is. Tangie points out
that he has a choice: go forward or go for revenge. "Which do you want
to do more?"

The party:

Fletcher has arrived and he is totally on edge. He spills food and
talks nervously. He drops his coat on Mara and Shane and says "here kids,
earn a dollar". Over on the couch, Annie and Josh discuss their "not-date".
They decide to figure out which topics are off-limits. She asks about
Cross Creek. He describes it, and a little of his childhood there. Annie
comments that Nadine and Buzz are a "hoot".

Mindy and Nick arrive. Mindy is all excited and wants to tell Josh
about the baby, but Nick tries to get her to keep it a secret until they're
sure. She agrees.

Ross, Dinah, and Blake sit on the steps. Dinah wants to gossip, but
Ross says he doesn't know too much. Dinah turns to Blake. She wants to know
about Matt and Vanessa. The Marlers think she should ask her mother. Blake
rises to make an announcement. She pulls out a TV and plays Ross' commercial.
[For some reason, I don't understand] Lillian shuffles uncomfortably, but
the rest of the crowd laughs, and oohs, and aahs. "Call 555-Hurt, I understand
what you're going through and I care", 20% off if you mention the ad.

Dinah, who enjoyed the show, puts on her glasses and sayshays up the
stairs in search of mother. She finds Vanessa and Matt enmeshed. "Well,
well, well. Mummy's full of surprises." Vanessa and Matt jump up and try to
explain. Dinah likes the whole thing. She starts to light up again, but
Vanessa tells her not to. "Everybody smokes in France," she pouts. She
[finally] takes off her hat, sits on the bed, and quizzes Matt. "Do you
live here?" No. "How come? Everybody else does." Vanessa encourages Dinah
to stay with her. "It's nice to feel wanted," she says. The kids come in
again, and Dinah's dislike for them is apparent. Vanessa tells Dinah about
the other kid in the house, and explains the strange situation.

Frank:

Demetra says that Christos and Eleni were to have a candlelight dinner.
She says they acted like old friends, and Eleni was only too eager to stay.
Frank says that is because Eleni is trying to straighten out the whole family
mess. She says you can't talk Christos into doing anything he doesn't want
to do. She says Frank "sent a woman to do a man's job". When Frank says he
didn't want her to go, she says she feels sorry for him, married to such
a headstrong woman. [Frank has atomic explosions blasting off. Very clever
woman, there.]

Christos and Eleni:

Christos says he has nothing to do with the vendetta. He can do nothing
about what others do in his name. He says that tomorrow they will ride horses
and see the island and she will never want to leave anyway. Eleni agrees
that it is a beautiful island, but that is just the problem. He needs to
leave, to share his gifts. "If I leave this place, it [his musical talent]
will die, I will die." Eleni says she will go with him around the island
if he will leave the island with her to straighten out the family problems.
He kisses her hand.

Roger and Holly:

They stand uncomfortably. He asks how her day was, and she lies. Then
he lies. She goes to her room, and he stares at her purse. Finally, he can't
take it, and he grabs it. He looks through her stuff, but finds nothing.
"Who is he, Holly?" He leaves the house.

Party:

HB tells a story about him and a bear. He spent the night in a tree.
Josh and Mindy sit by the fireplace, talking about the adoptive baby. Nick
stands above them, unnoticed. She says "I think it was meant to be". Josh
wonders about her and Nick, and she says "I can't think about that now."
Annie calls Josh away.

Dinah approaches Matt. She compliments her mother's taste in men.
She then tells him that all she said to him in the diner was just talk. None
of it meant anything. "That stuff about just using your family, you mean?"
[Badly paraphrased, there. Sorry.] Yes, she didn't mean it. She was just
talking to a stranger, she thought. "I hardly know my mother. I always saw
her as a serious socialite person. I don't know if she really wants me here
or is just doing what she thinks a mother should do." [There is a tremble in
her voice when she says this.]

Josh proposes a toast to Vanessa and Matt. He says they have been
through "rough times...made rougher...nice to see people work this out".
The crowd amens. Dinah sidles up to Josh. "I'm compelled to
introduce Dinah, here, as Ross and Vanessa's child," he smiles. Dinah
has trouble raising her glass to her mother and her man. She turns to Ross
and asks a favor. Yes, he'd be happy to have her stay with them.

Frank and Demetra:

Demetra talks about the price of uozo. She and the bartender scheme.
She is happy about Frank's appearance. "Trouble is what we need." Eleni's
brothers hold Frank down. He wants to go after Eleni. They don't want him
to, but Demetra says that it is a good idea, and that she will arrange
everything.

Eleni and Christos:

"I feel a million miles away from my real life." Christos wonders
which is her "real" life. She again begs him to stop the vendetta, but he
says it cannot. You see, it's not that they were just promised to each
other as children.

	Christos and Eleni were married.
