      LEWIS HOME

Vanessa is looking at the puzzle box that Matt gave her for Christmas.
Bill is interested in it until he figures out that it came from Matt. He
goes upstairs to study. Vanessa tells Josh that she and Matt are staying
apart so that she can spend time with Bill, but all she gets from him is
disapproval. Josh wants to call a truce, since he hasn't been treating
her well either.

     SKI LODGE

Holly asks Fletcher for help pulling off her boots. He falls on top of
her on the bed. They end up nose-to-nose and talk about the last time
they were this close. They're about to kiss when Holly laughs.

Roger is on his way to the lodge and hears a radio ad for the lodge's
"romantic getaways".

Fletch gets up from the bed and Holly tells him that she has been
pretending that nothing happened between them.

Fletch: "Our little rhapsody on the desk doesn't seem quite real to
            me either."
Holly: "Rhapsody on the desk? You're the king of euphemisms."
Fletch: "You must be the queen of evasion."

Fletch gets her boots & socks off and starts massaging her feet. Holly
tells him "they haven't done what we came here to do", but starts talking
about a photographer at the Journal. She asks if there's more champagne,
there isn't, so Fletch wonders if she thinks he's cheap. "Roger would
have it by the case." Holly tells him he's not cheap, he's real. "Would
you do this for Alex?" He won't mention Roger, if she doesn't mention
Alex.

     SPAULDING MANSION

Alan is moving in, so Ginger & Donna are carrying a globe into the study.
Donna: "What kind of cockamamy globe is this? The U.S. don't have any
states!" Alan tells her it represents the 16th century. Alan finds a
pipe in a desk drawer and asks Alex who it belongs to. She says she
doesn't know. He opens a box of his books and takes Tangie's picture out
of one of the books.

     DINER

Lucy asks Buzz how to get a guy in a tux to go to a certain place at a
certain time without telling him it's a party for him. When he doesn't
help her, she starts complaining about her dating problems. Buzz tells
her she must be doing something wrong. Nadine tells her she should wear
snazzy clothes and change her makeup and walk. Buzz tells her to project
her assets.

     LEWIS HOME

Vanessa wonders if Josh is admitting that Matt is the right person for
her. He wouldn't go that far, but it is a possibility. Vanessa tells
him to have some faith in her. She asks him about his date last night.
He tells her it was terrible and it's over because he's not up for
dating. He doesn't want to take a chance because it might not work.
Vanessa says he should because there is a chance it might work. "I think
falling in love is almost always about being rescued, if only from the
tedium and numbness of everyday life." Josh: "Maybe I like the numbness."

The phone rings-- it's Matt. {I'll include all the juicy details for
those of you who missed an update on the last call.}
Matt needs help-- all he can think about is her. Vanessa has the same
problem. She asks where he is. He's at the diner, but she doesn't
picture him there. He tells her he's fixing a bathroom that has a hot
tub big enough for two. It's hot, he's sweaty, with sawdust all over
him. She tells him to take his shirt off and wipe off the sweat. He
tells her that's what he's doing.

Vanessa: "Are you wearing those silk boxer shorts I gave you?"
Matt: "You're getting good at this Vanessa."
Vanessa: "Until I can see you."
Matt: "We'll be together soon. What are you wearing?"
   Vanessa: "Not much."
Matt: "Don't do this to me, because I'm trying to resist the
temptation to come over there. Where are you?"
Vanessa: "I'm in the bathroom about to take a bath. [she's really on
the steps near the livingroom] I have to take off my clothes
and step into the water. It feels so good-- kind of lonely
             though. The water is scented."

They are interrupted by Josh, who asks if she's talking to Matt. He
tells her to invite Matt over. He takes the phone and invites Matt
himself. When Vanessa gets the phone back, she tells Matt that she
wasn't really in the tub.

     CRETE

Eleni goes to the taverna and talks to Demidra (Cristos' sister) about
resolving the problems between their families. She wants to talk to him,
but Demidra says it will take a few days. Eleni says she can't wait that
long.

     SPAULDING MANSION

Alan asks Alex if the pipe belonged to Fletcher. It did, he loved to sit
by the fire to read and smoke the pipe. Alan tells her she'll find
someone more suited to her. Alex is happy she has him and wonders how
long it's been since he's been in love. Alan tells her that they have to
open up their hearts to people again. Alex wonders if he has someone in
mind. Alan "Certainly not, I'm speaking hypothetically."

Donna and Ginger come in with drinks and mints. They go to serve Alan.
Alan: "The lady of the house is to be served first."
Ginger: "The lady?"
Donna: "What lady? OH!"
Ginger: "It's been so long since there was a gentleman in the house, so
we got a little carried away."
Donna: "She gets a little loopy cause her hormones are all raging."

Alex tells Alan that if Nick ever wants back in the company, there has to
be room for him, and he should past it along to Alan-Michael. She leaves
and he gets Tangie's picture out again. Alan calls someone to find out
when the Pacific Rim conference is over, so that he can find out when
Tangie is returning. She'll be back next week. Alex overhears the phone
call.

     SKI LODGE

They have another bottle of champagne. Fletcher asks Holly where things
stand between her and "old Rog". She tells him absence is suppose to
make the heart grow fonder. Fletcher tells Holly about the last time he
drank this type of champagne. It was in Prague after four days in jail,
the winter before the uprising. He was doing a story about a band trying
to sabotage a Soviet base. One of the band was a woman named Marta.
He'll never forget her. As they approached the base, they were spotted,
so he told them to hide and he went ahead by himself. He told the
soldiers he was a lost American. The "bad guys" believed him, but
shipped him to Prague & put him in jail. When they let him go, they told
him not to come to Eastern Europe again, so he went to his room to pack.
Marta showed up with a bottle of this champagne and a beautiful smile,
saying thanks for the patriots. The next morning she went her way and he
went his. He wonders what happened to her.

Roger checks his map. "Two, maybe three, miles and I'll be there."

    LEWIS HOME

Matt arrives. Josh is helping Bill with homework. Vanessa tells Bill
that Josh invited Matt over for a visit. Josh tells Bill that he figured it
was about time. "Your mom should be able to entertain her guests-- it's her
house." Bill says hello and asks if it was hard to make the puzzle box.
Matt explains how it was made and offers to show him. They start
watching a basketball game on TV.

     CRETE

Demidra tells Eleni it isn't easy to talk to Cristos. She must take a
boat to his island and the trip can't be done in one day. He doesn't
have a telephone either. Eleni wants to go with her to see him, but
Demidra says he's a very private man and she can't go without his
permission.

     SKI LODGE

Holly: "Tangie is coming back and she knows about us."
Fletcher: "We came up here to exorcise whatever is going on between us,
not Tangie. We should let whatever's happening happen."
Holly: "You lured me here under false pretences."
Fletcher: "This, whatever it is, is fated."
Holly: "A newspaperman talking about fate! What's next? An astrology
        column?"
Fletcher: "What's your sign? Let's see where it takes us. We've learned
a few basic truths about ourselves today."
Holly: "And then when we get back to Springfield, that will be the big
test, find out if this was an illusion. Then we decide what to do."
Fletcher: "There is another option-- we can stay here for the night."
Holly: "Go check out and I'll turn off the fire."
   They kiss.
Fletcher: "I'm sorry, but I've been wanting to do that ever since that
           night."
He leaves. She looks in the fire, touches her lips, and remembers the
night in her office.

KNOCK, KNOCK-- It's Roger! Holly starts babbling about what a surprise
this is and how happy she is to see him. She wants to drive back to
Springfield with him. He sees two sets of ski boots and the bottle of
champagne. They leave.

    DINER

Eleni calls Frank and tells him she can't come home tomorrow, it will
take a few days to arrange a meeting. Frank apologizes for not
understanding and they tell each other they can't wait to see each
other. After he hangs up the phone, Frank tells the family he's going to
Eleni.

     ROGER'S CAR

Holly: "It was funny seeing someone again after all these years."
Roger: "What was her name again?"
Holly: "Marta. She called me up out of the blue and asked if I wanted an
extra ski lift ticket, so I said sure. How did you know where to
        find me?"
Roger: "Not from Marta. Nobody at the Journal would tell me anything."
Holly: "I'm glad you came."
Roger: "I'm glad you had fun." & thinks about the boots and the champagne.

      THAT'S ALL! Karen
