   Journal.
Mindy answers Nick's, um, "summons" (N is mega-busy, having assumed
editorial duties in the wake of Holly and Fletch's unscheduled
playtime).
Their adoption papers have come through - a little girl (Mindy's
choice of sex) is waiting on the horizon, and there's a deadline to
complete procedures, as well as a requisite interview.
Mindums interprets the adoption possibility as a second chance for
her and Nick's relationship.

Roger bops in looking for Holly (having earlier called Blake at
Frank's detective agency w/ no leads), and Nick steps to the outer
office to deal with him. Rog questions the absence of BOTH editors; Nick
brainslaps him re: his HollyObsession, and gets on the horn to security.
Roger declines the gambit and exits. Nick returns to Holly's office and
pulls out a card w/the number of Fletcher's inn, but before the warning
can be phoned, is pulled away by urgent newspaper stuff (leaving the
card on the desktop).
The Dodger returns in short order. Nick is still mega-busy, so Rog
enters Holly's office, spots Fletch's card and calls the inn, asking for
Holly's room. Bzzzt.
Minutes later, Roger is in the DodgerMobile, en route to the "love
shack", eager to head Fletcher off "at the pass". :)

   Cedars.
Eve and supernurse Annie (Josh's "wuh-mhun"-to-be) are in the
hospital's nursery.
There was a car accident, and Eve promised a mother she'd look in on
her child. As Eve picks up the infant, talk segues to men and
relationships. Enter Josh, looking in from the corridor (viewing
window).
   Outside the nursery, Josh and Annie talk about their date-disaster;
Annie admits she was wrong to jump ballistic over the veal vs. chicken
thing (essentially admitting the lib thing was overplayed). They make
up, and Annie invites Josh to step up to the plate and try another date. :)

Later, Mindy arrives and groks the babies.
Eve transports en scene and goes on and on about kids, then abruptly
stops short, remembering Mindy's problem in that area.
Mindums is left alone to consider her and Nick's decision in the
adoption area.

Holly and Fletch stumble into their lodge after a great ski run and
order food (from pre-established "package"). Fletcher jumps on the bed,
and, as Holly tries to hand him a ticket for one complimentary massage,
attempts to pull her into the sack. No go.
Fletch next attempts to massage lotion on her face (she's sunburned),
but is stopped there, too.
Much chit-chat ensues (Holly would like for them to fight less at
work; blah, blah, blah; Fellini movies...chicken sandwiches...road
kill...). H&F share a wistful look out of their lodge window.
Chow arrives (champagne; tuna) and is enjoyed in front of a roaring
fire, along with a discussion of past best stories the Journal has
covered, and which of theirs they will submit to an awards fete. Holly
compliments Fletcher as being a "very good writer". Fletch promises to
arm-wrestle her back at the Journal for submission rights. :)

[Blah, blah, blah; Holly notes it's probably a good thing they don't
get together - they'd probably wind up middle-age drunks. F spins
a weird domestic story of them together: cigarette butts, chapped
    lips and a um, "near-garotting", included. [!] ]

   Back to La Window Picturesque.
Skiers are doing a nightrun w/torches, and Holly and Fletch run out
to join them.
Apres-ski, Fletch falls atop Holly (on the bed) while helping her
doff her boots.

"I don't want to see any clothes,
                   I don't want to see any panties;
and take off that brassiere, my
dear. I want you just the way you are."

[In Holly's case, that would be: neurotic. ;)]

   Frank's "SuperPosse" Detective Agency.
The F-ster, Blake and David are sitting idly, twiddling thumbs - no
business. Frank is brooding about Eleni's absence...

Meanwhile, Eleni has arrived in Crete. She transports to her family's
inn (?), launches into Greek (looking for Andros family) and is promptly
told to speak English; additionally, she learns the establishment no
longer belongs to the Andros' (as a bunch of seedy looking men drink and
mutter in the background).
Eleni makes an overseas call to Frank. Bad vibes are not obscured by
a bad connection, and Frank expreses concern, asking E to come home,
pronto. The link fizzles out as Eleni promises to wrap things up and
return in a couple of days.
Frank, more than slightly depressed, heads for the door and a
rejuvenating walk, but runs into a man looking for detective help; his
wife is missing. In the office, Mr. Bowles (orthopedic shoestore owner
w/wife) delivers his tale: ...she was missing after breakfast,
apparently still in her bathrobe, eggs left sizzling in a frying pan and
a year-old son left motherless.
Frank: "...would a good mother sneak out the back door??".
   Blake: "What about shoes?"
The Blake-ster feels the foorware would remain the same, even if
Bowles' wife pulled clothes off a line, etc, on her way out of Dodge.
Mrs. Bowles' description: brown hair, eyes, height like Blake.... Mr.
B has no pictures of his wife in his wallet. Frank freaks out, drawing
not-too-subtle parallels between his situation w/Eleni and Bowles'
troubles ("...what kind of husband would just sit and do nothing when
his wife walks out the door??...). Frank thinks the story stinks up the
wahzoo.
Dave takes the guy out for dinner and a one-on-one.
B&F note that Bowles didn't show any emotion: "...if he loved her, he
sure as hell wouldn't just be sitting around talking about it...".

Dave returns; the business dinner-as-"Bowles keeper" was successful.
Frank expresses grave concerns about the Crete situation...

Back in Dodge, Eleni's brothers fail to show. The innkeeper gets
pissed and initially insults E's family, but relents and allows her to
stay and wait.
E's older (taller) brother shows up - seems he got different messages and
went to the dock before coming to the inn. As they hug and chat, the
innkeeper evesdrops from behind a curtain.
Outside, big brother notes Eleni must first see Christo's sister to
begin vendetta resolutions.
Cut to an abode straight out of "Wuthering Heights".
A dark haired woman announces to an unseen man (hands only - sitting
by an open window):
"She has come - Eleni Andros is here."

A candle on his table immediately blows out.
   Wooo. Resonance City. ;)

   Cliffhanger!

On My Mind
----------

GL has been using an abbreviated opening sequence; no photos, just a
quick sweep of the lighthouse graphics then straight to commercials.
At first, I thought they were re-doing star shots, but with so many
people leaving soon, why start that now??

Fletcher and Holly have zero chemistry together. If not for the
Update, I would have FF'ed through their entire segment. I hope Roger
kicks the guy's ass all the way back to Springfield.

Josh and Annie. Ditto with the null chemistry. Next.

Nick and Mindy. Not interested. Next.

   Sid and Gilly. Zzzzzzzz.

And to top it off, the direction today was the most disjointed in
recent memory.
Yo, TPTB: I hate to complain like this, but, damn, y'all are
slipping. When you have so many major characters moving on, the
storylines and dialog MUST be tight.
