Guiding Light Update
  Friday, Jan. 24

     by Viv

At the party, Jean-Luc comforts Dinah. She doesn't understand what she
did to make
Hart so angry, although she did drink too much and danced with her ex. When
she asks why
life always has to be so hard, Jean-Luc slides up behind her and says that
it can be simple if
she lets it. Inside, Alan observes the guests and sees Annie having a
conversation with Blake.
He notices that she is upset. Alex wonders why he is interested in her.
Please Alex, don't
look at your brother as though you are jealous. It's so gross. She is very
attractive and
smart, he replies, and the only reason she hates him is because he told her
the truth about
Josh and Reva, and was right. Annie's gown is terrible on her. Her
shoulders and back make
her look like the anorexia poster child. Please cover them up. Annie is
determined to learn
all she can about her rival. She pulls Blake aside and digs for information
about Reva's
meeting with Ross after Sarah's death. Blake doesn't want to snoop into
Ross's business, but
Annie has that determined look on her face. Run while you can, Blake.

At the lighthouse, Josh and Reva shoot off a flare, hoping that the
people in the boat will
see it. Inside, the men work feverishly to start the generator. After a
few tries, it starts, then
poops out. Michelle becomes frantic, and they try again (Buzz's voice alone
should scare it
into starting). On the beach, Roger carries Holly and looks a bit like
Heathcliff on the moors.
Holly asks to be put down, but she doesn't sound like she means it. Roger
politely refuses.
Although she may hate him, she needs him right now.

Alex is skeptical about Alan and Annie becoming friends. Amanda
overhears and joins
them, asking if she can watch as using people is one of Alan's best tricks.
She looks fabulous
in her gown, it was made for her. Alan says Annie is a nurse and
unemployable because of
her addiction. He wants her to work for him and help him to walk again.
Amanda says that
Annie will take care of him all right, one body part at a time. Go Amanda!
She does, leaving
Alex to ponder if Alan wants Annie around because of Phillip. Ross
overhears Blake telling
Annie that she can't get information out of someone, and asks who that would
be. He is
easily distracted when Annie suggests he dance with his wife. Blake begs
off so that she can
continue her talk with Annie. She asks Ross to call the baby-sitter and
check on the boys.
Blake wants Annie to stop worrying about Reva, but Annie is convinced that
he will leave
her. She has to stop them from getting together until she can prove to Josh
that she loves him
best.

Speak of the devils, at the lighthouse Josh professes his love for Reva
tells her how much
he misses her. They stare at each other. Inside, the generator is finally
fixed. Now they have
to turn the light around but it won't budge. Rick asks for a hacksaw and
begins to saw a pipe.

Holly tries to walk but falls. She wants to call the Coast Guard, and
Roger offers the use of
his cell phone inside. He says he will also offer his assistance, but Holly
doesn't think they
will want it. Holly is still bitter and tells him he is responsible for how
they feel. Roger want
to try anyway. Rick has cut a piece of pipe and they use it to turn the
light around. Jenna,
Buzz, Fletcher, Abby, Rick, Billy and Meta are all pulling. Roger enters,
carrying the love (or
light, if you will) of his life, and Fletcher rushes to them. Roger joins
the work detail, and the
light begins to turn after another effort. Reva and Josh see it (they are
standing right in front
of it) and hug, then share a passionate kiss.

At the country club, Bridgett wanders as though she's looking for
something, and Nola asks
her if she found anything interesting. Bridgett plays dumb. Jean-Luc
offers Dinah a cocktail,
which she at first refuses, but then takes. He notices that she is sad and
wants her to talk to
him. When she and Hart are alone they are very happy, but when they are in
the real world
everything is different. She has tried to change, moved to the farm, etc.
but hasn't become the
woman he wants her to be. Compared to the other guests, Harley's gown is a
disappointment
(to me, anyway). It is very plain, and seems to be a size too large.
Anyway, as she drifts
around, Phillip catches up with her. Harley wants to know why he's not with
his date, and he
admits that it's the first time he's been on one since the divorce. Blake
wants Annie to
promise not to go to extremes as far as Josh and Reva go. Annie wants it
all to stop, and
mentions Blake's secret. She tells Blake that she's her role model as far
as secrets go. Blake
doesn't seem proud of the title.

The boaters are rescued, but Zachary is nowhere to be seen. Michelle
becomes hysterical,
and one of the sailors says he saved their lives, but doesn't know what
happened to him.

Harley runs into Bloss and sees pictures of the babies. They express
their condolences
over Deeny. Jenna's husband is looking for her and speaks to Bridgett. He
describes her but
Bridgett hasn't seen her. She mentions that if he sees a very skinny
brunette with short hair
he is welcome to her if can take her off her off hands. Instead, he zeros
in on Amanda (good
choice) and her jewelry and they dance. They discuss a jewelry store in
Colorado and some
of Amanda's jewels. Mike talks to Charles and Charles says he loves being
chief of staff.
Ed's name is mentioned. Charles and Vivian seem to have mended their
fences. Annie is
taking the air and Alan follows her out. He brings up Reva and gets her
attention.

Josh tells Reva to remember what H.B. always says (said), "Don't give up
on the miracle
before it happens." Fletcher is concerned about Holly's ankle and they
decide to go home.
After Billy mentions the ceremony for Vanessa they change their minds, and
most of them
decide to go back to the party. The Coast Guard is cruising the water, but
there has been no
sign of our fallen angel. Meta tries to comfort Michelle. The Coast Guard
officer tells her
that Zach was seen in a small motorboat and is probably on his way to shore.
Buzz thanks
Jenna for helping out. They get closer and closer.

Harley compliments Vivian on her necklace. It's the real thing. Alan
takes his time putting
forward the argument that Reva is a threat to Annie. In exchange, she will
work for him as
his nurse and help him onto his feet. She admits that she would do anything
to keep Josh and
Reva apart. Reva hurt Alan too, and he has the resources to find out
information about her.
The lighthouse group return and let others know what happened. Dinah is
dancing with
Jean-Luc and goes to meet Hart as he enters, but he grabs a dance partner
and ignores her.
Roger joins Amanda but looks longingly at Holly. Amanda has news - Lucy and
A-M are
considering leaving town. Roger is happy to hear that, and says that once
they find the files,
the Spauldings will go down like a stack of dominoes. Josh returns and
Annie announces that
Alan has offered her a job, and she accepted it. Josh is quite surprised.
Billy, Bill, and Matt
are ready to start the ceremony for Van. Reva arrives and Josh and Reva
look at each other
while Annie watches. When he asks, Reva tells Jenna's hubby that she's
still at the
lighthouse.

In Switzerland, Vanessa is feeling better. Her doctor thinks there is a
possibility that the
medicine is working. They will have to wait and see. Zachary pops in (that
boat must have
some motor on it) and tells him the news. He says that will help him tell
her what he has to
say.

Michelle is by the light and refuses to believe Zach is dead. "Hold on
to Love" plays as we
see the various residents of SF; at the party, Dinah looking at Zach, Reva
and Josh wishing
they could be together, Bloss hugging, Nola dancing with Matt, Roger talking
with Holly and
Fletch. Zachary holds Vanessa's hand.
