The Formal Shop
Jenna and Jeffrey arrive to look at formal wear for tonight's big ball. The
saleswoman gushes about the ball being the talk of the town, and Jeffrey
agrees that it is, and will be for several days to come. As the saleswoman
walks off Jenna reminds Jeffrey of his promise "tonight is the last time,
after this I'm free and clear". Jeffrey agrees, as long she doesn't get
caught. Jenna looks exasperated, and Jeffrey soothes her; his plan is fool
proof as long as she isn't distracted. Behind Jeffrey and Jenna, Buzz
enters. The salesman asks if he can help Buzz, and he sings out, Yeah, I
need a tux! Jenna turns around looking mortified.

NewRevaBend
Josh knocks on the door. When Reva answers he says he just wants to talk; he
hasn't been able to eat or sleep since she broke up with Buzz. Reva says
it's not a good time because she has company. Josh looks worried and hopes
it's not Annie, then Billy comes out: "No, it's me lil brother!" Josh
reaches out to shake hands saying it's good to see him. Billy turns away
and says: "You may not think so when you hear what I've got to say!" Josh
looks curious.

Spaulding Enterprises
Phillip and Alex are listening to Alan Michael talk about Wall Street
watching them, "Wall Street is expecting a leaner, meaner Spaulding Roger on
board." "Well, we're certainly going to get meaner, that's for sure", laughs
Alex. Phillip suggests they keep a close eye on Roger and Amanda; they all
agree to tell Amanda and Roger only what they need to know. Amanda
interrupts, entering the office, gushing about what a lovely day it is.
Alex wants to get down to business, and Phillip tells Amanda to get Roger in
so they can start. Unfortunately Amanda's *beloved* is not joining her
today; everyone is surprised. Alex wonders where "Roger beloved" is. Amanda
looks blank.

Spaulding Study (hey! there's no furniture in here anymore, only a chair!)
Roger is entering from the hallway looking around to see if anyone has
noticed him. He looks around the room starts for the bookshelf, then goes
to the desk instead. He opens a drawer, then looks up and says out loud
"where are they Alex?"

LIGHTHOUSE ROLL

Spaulding Study
Roger is still looking around - goes to the safe, but decides against it,
starts looking behind books on bookshelves. Cut to Rog on the other side of
the room (he's been there for a while) still rifling through things. He
goes back to the desk exasperated, and remembers when Vanessa told him about
the files; he remembers Van saying that the files were as close as the "nose
on Alan's face". Rog wonders aloud if he should take that literally. He
crosses the room again to the bookcase, and hears a noise. Cut to hallway
where Alan is approaching the study. Rog looks alarmed as Alan starts to
enter the room.

NewRevaBend
Josh wonders if Billy broke out; Billy got some time off and wanted to come
home. Josh wonders what he's doing at Reva's. Billy knows that something
wasn't right with Josh and Annie at Christmas - Reva runs up saying
"Billllyyy" - and Billy wanted the play by play from Reva. Josh wishes he
hadn't done that. Billy tells Josh that he's made a mess of things, while
Reva tries to keep him quiet. Reva tells Billy that her wanting to see him
had nothing to do with Josh, and Josh wants to know why she wanted to see
Billy at all. Billy thinks Josh's plate is already full. Reva tries to see
Josh out, and Billy stops her because he wants to talk to his lil brother -
alone. Reva looks from one to the other then goes out for the mail. Josh
isn't in the mood for a lecture, and Billy offers to beat some sense "into
that thick skull". Billy points out that Reva is finally free; Reva did the
right thing by getting out of her marriage, and now it's Josh's turn. Josh
says he can't leave Annie, and Billy wonders why - he points out that that
was how he lost Vanessa, but at least he had drinking to blame and wonders
what Josh's excuse is. Josh goes on about how he can't leave Annie, because
of her addiction, and how the baby could get hurt if he isn't there. Billy
doesn't think those reasons to stay married, just excuses; he tells Josh
that they someone to take care of Annie (a professional). Billy tells Josh
that he has the answers, he just needs to "look into his heart".

The Formal Shop
Buzz is suprised that a "pretty girl" like Jenna doesn't have closets full
of formal wear. Jenna says she does; Jeffrey say she didn't bring any with
her, and he can't deny her anything. Jenna is surprised Buzz is going to
the ball and Buzz agrees that normally he would be "in front of the TV with
a beer, watching the game", but Alex insisted he go. Buzz says he and Alex
are still close in spite of Alan; Jenna looks alarmed and asks if Alan is
out of prison. Buzz tells her he's been out for too long, but Alan isn't
going to ruin the party. Buzz thinks it will be a "romantic, mysterious
evening". Buzz then yells over to the salesman, "show me one of your monkey
suits!" As the salesman leads Buzz away, they pause and Buzz says "and no
funny stuff with the inseam". Jenna tells Jeffrey she can't go through with
it if Buzz will be at the ball because he'll never let her out of his sight.
Jeffrey tells her that'll have to convince Mr. Cooper not to go.

Spaulding Enterprises
Amanda starts the meeting, and A/M interupts saying she never did explain
why Roger didn't come. Alex agrees, and Phillip chimes in, "you know it's
just so dog-gone hard to take dear beloved Roger seriously when he's never
here". Amanda says they would only have contempt for Roger if he were there,
and she doesn't think he should be subjected to it. Alex thinks that Amanda
is "noble, disgusting, but noble" and wonders again where Roger is. Roger is
immersed in strategic planning. Alex snipes back and wants to know what
Amanda and Roger are up to. Amanda and Roger are just trying to make the
company more efficient. Alex wants to judge for herself and walks over to
pick up Amanda's file. Amanda snatches it back because she needs it to run
the meeting. Alex adjourns the meeting and says they can go over it over it
on the way home. Amanda worked very hard and wants everyone to listen to
her. Alex wants to go home and get ready for the ball. Phillip and AM
start packing up. Alex says they have to look their best. Alex points out
that 60 years ago, Brandon created the Spaulding Foundation to bring Cedars
Hospital to SF from Selby Flats. Amanda protests that she can get the
meeting over with in an hour, as Alex calls for the limousine. Phillip and
AM leave. Amanda tries to stay and make phone calls, and Alex drags her
away and tells her to make her calls from the limo unless "you and Roger are
planning to overthrow the free world". "No, nothing like that", says Amanda.

Spaulding Study
Alan comes in thinking he finally caught Rog in the act. Rog, seated in the
chair with a cigar and a brandy, asks Alan to join him and laughs. Alan
wonders why Rog isn't over at the meeting at Spaulding. Rog is letting
Amanda handle the meeting so he can have a nice long chat with Alan. Alan
doesn't want to talk, he has a lot of work to do. Rog knows Alan bears him
ill will, but hopes Alan can put those to rest in time. Alan keeps trying
to ignore Rog; Rog goes on about wanting to be a good husband to Amanda and
a better son-in-law to Alan. Alan thinks a good start would be leaving him
alone. Roger thinks they'll someday get to be a real family; Alan says
he'll never accept him into the family. (Rog is looking through books again
as Alan ignores him.) Rog points out that they have to put up a good front
for Wall Street. Alan just wants some piece and quiet, and wonders if Rog
can do his part and just "shut up". Rog agrees and says Alan will never
know he's there. Alan finally turns to look at Rog and wants to know what
he's doing now. Rog is making a list of Spaulding customers to schmooze at
the ball. Alan thinks that's a job for the family; Rog points out that he's
the future son-in-law. Alan leaves saying, "we'll see about" that. Rog
closes the door behind Alan, "I thought he'd never leave".

The Diner
Eleni is serving customers as Frank enters with a garment bag in hand. Frank
tells all the customers to leave because they're closing early. Eleni wants
to know and Frank tells her they're going to the ball. Eleni doesn't think
they can go because the tickets are $1,000 each. Levy is sending Frank to
work undercover and even sprung for the tux. Frank tells Eleni to go get
dressed; Eleni objects that they can't close the diner - Frank says it's
always slow at night since Alan levelled half the neighborhood. Eleni thinks
it's too late to get a sitter for Marina, Frank tells her to call Mrs.
Pappas. Eleni keeps objecting and Frank wants to know what's really wrong.
Finally Eleni admits that she has nothing to wear, and wouldn't fit in.
Frank tells her she could wear a sack and she would be the most beautiful
woman there. Eleni finally agrees and the diner patrons cheer when Frank
kisses her.

The Formal shop
Buzz comes out of the dressing room to inspect his tux; Jenna comes out to
look at a dress and Buzz sees her, "Wow! I can't speak for your husband,
but WOW!" (It's an off the shoulder, black, sequined on top with lacy
sleeves, full skirt - she does look great) Jenna thanks Buzz, and Buzz
thanks her. Jenna tells Buzz that he makes her husband uncomfortable; Buzz
acts too familiar around her. Buzz (standing behind her) thinks that's
because he is familiar; he touches her shoulder and she closes her eyes.
Buzz starts that if that makes Jeffrey up tight; Jenna gets ahold of
herself, and turns around: "it makes me up tight too". Buzz wonders why she
didn't say so, and agrees to back off if he makes her uncomfortable. Buzz
goes back to the mirror looking at this tux, and Jenna follows him wondering
why he's going; she knows he doesn't like this type of function. Buzz says
he likes Alex; Jenna doesn't think he's going because of Alex, he's going
because he knows Jenna will be there. Buzz - "does your husband know how
conceited you are?" Jenna - whispering - "Oh, Buzz!" Buzz - whispering back-
"what?" Jenna thinks Buzz is acting impulsively because of his breakup with
Reva; she begs him not to go and make the situation any more difficult than
it already is. Buzz didn't know they had a situation.

Annie enters the formal shop and is surprised to see Buzz, and wonders if he
is going to the ball too. Buzz tells he was discussing it and Jenna
introduces herself to Annie. Annie hopes she wasn't interrupting; Jenna
says she and Buzz were finished and walks away. Buzz tries to walk away
too, and Annie grabs him saying she's glad she ran into him. Annie tells
Buzz she knows he was upset when he found out Reva still loved Josh, but now
that Reva can't have him, Annie is sure Reva and Buzz can get back together.
Buzz (incredulous) - "you can't be serious". Annie gushes about how she and
Josh have been through so much and are closer than ever. She pushes Buzz to
get back together Reva, because she know Buzz still has feelings. Buzz
turning away - "you're living in a dream world honey." Annie (friendly
facade disappears) grabs Buzz - "No, I'm not". Buzz looks at her like she
has lost her mind.

HALFTIME

Annie (concerned again) encourages Buzz that he and Reva can be happy. Buzz
remembers driving Annie to Cross Creek because she was convinced JEVA was
there "doing another round of always." Annie gets defensive again; she was
wrong, Josh was alone and would never betray her with Reva. Annie is
convinced that Josh would never leave her or the baby, and that's why Reva
stopped pursuing Josh. Buzz tells Annie that Reva broke up with him because
she loves Josh, always has, always will. Annie glares at Buzz as he tells
her he hates to say it but doesn't want to see Annie end up like him. Annie
says she's not going to end up like Buzz; she has Josh now, and she will
have him always. The saleswoman walks over and tells Annie her dress is
ready for a final fitting. Annie snaps at her to just have it sent to the
house, because she's wasted to much time already. Annie stomps off, and
Buzz looks sad for her.

NewRevaBend
Billy and Josh (Josh is leaning against the counter) are still going at it.
Josh wants Billy to lay off; he and Reva just can't be together right now.
Billy encourages Josh to try harder, and stop wasting time. Reva comes
back. Billy grabs Josh into a big bear hug (and knocks over the glass
cannisters on the counter; KZ is fast on the draw with, "you're breaking all
my stuff here!" RN laughs) Billy tells JEVA not to let his opportunity slip
away, and Josh promises to try his best. Josh wonders if Billy is going to
the party, and Billy says he's going to stay with Reva. Reva goes out onto
the step with Josh, and they exchange I love yous. Josh asks Reva to wait
for him, and she looks on sadly as he walks away.

Spaulding Study
Roger is rifling through papers when Amanda comes in. Rog wants to know what
she's doing back so soon, Amanda tries to tell him when we hear Alex calling
her from the hallway. Amanda shoves all the papers off the desk, and throws
Roger on the desk kissing him. Alex comes into the study, "NOT in my house
you two!" Amanda stammers, and Alex tells her to save it because she knows
exactly what is going on. Rog and Amanda look stunned.

Roger counters that Alex is just seeing two people in love. Alex thinks
Amanda just came rushing in to warn Rog that everyone was angry that he
didn't come to the meeting. Amanda says it would have gone better if she had
done her presentation, but Alex wanted to come home to get ready for the
ball. Rog talks again about his list of clients to see at the ball, and
Alex stomps off to check on Alan. Alan enters then saying he's just fine
(he's all dressed in a tux). Roger and Amanda look stunned again. Alex is
pleased that Alan is going; Amanda objects that maybe Alan should check with
his doctor. Alan's mind is made up: "nothing is going to keep me away from
the ball", then focusing on Roger, "nothing!"

The Diner
Frank thanks all the exiting diner patrons for their understanding. Eleni
got a sitter and they hug again. Eleni goes to get ready and sends Frank to
lock up. Frank goes to turn over the sign and says "Holy Smokes, you're not
going to believe this!" Eleni joins Frank at the door and they both look out
the window surprised and laughing.

LOWHAD
Annie is sitting in the living room putting on makeup; as she slowly puts on
lipstick she recalls what Buzz said at the formal shop. She slips with the
lipstick and yells "damn you Reva!" Josh comes in and she wipes off the
lipstick. Annie explains that she's waiting for a delivery from the formal
shop and that's why she's in the living room. Josh thought she was going to
pick it up herself (she's nervously putting blush all over herself). Annie
says she went to the formal shop, but her dress was too tight and they had
to let out the waist, so she came back to put on makeup while she waited.
Annie thinks she should stop eating so much. Josh starts to go upstairs,
and Annie says whats happening to them hit home for her. She gushes on about
the baby growing inside her, and Josh (wearily) agrees that it's wonderful.
As she continues to apply blush all over her face, neck and chest, Annie
wishes everyone was as happy as they are. Annie tells Josh she ran into Buzz
at the formal shop and he said things that upset her. Josh wonders what he
said. Annie says Reva broke up the marriage because she's still in love with
Josh. Annie - "now, I don't think that's a threat we can ignore, do you?"

The Formal Shop
Buzz and Jenna are leaving. Jenna thinks Buzz is going to the ball because
she asked him not to, but Buzz is going because he wants to. Buzz isn't
buying the "too familiar" line about Jeffrey and thinks she's up to
something. Buzz exits, kissing Jenna's hand and saying "save the last dance
for me." Jeffrey comes out and they leave the shop. On the step Jeffrey
asks if she convinced Buzz not to go. Jenna says she didn't and that
everything is off. Jeffrey says the evening will go on as planned. Jenna
wonders how she can be expected to do her job with Buzz around. Jeffrey
doesn't expect it, he insists on it.

LOWHAD
Annie says she is was upset by what Buzz said and that's why she mentioned
it. Josh doesn't know what to say, and Annie says he doesn't have to say
anything; she knows Josh loves her. What Annie is afraid of is Marah and
Shayne; they have to adjust to the baby and need to know they're a solid
family, no matter what Reva says. Josh tells her Reva wouldn't do that, but
Annie wouldn't put it past her. Annie thinks Reva is alone and desperate and
will tell Marah and Shayne that their *parents* don't love them now that
they're having their own child. Josh objects again that Reva would never do
that. Annie doesn't want Josh to buy into Reva's lies; she goes back to the
table and says Buzz really want's Reva back. Josh looks worried - "Buzz said
that?" Annie turns around, "yeah...you think I'm making this up?" Annie
gushes on how about Buzz is beside himself, and how Reva just might go back.
Josh doesn't think Annie should get involved, and Annie interrupts that Josh
shouldn't either. She tells Josh to just ignore Reva. Josh tells Annie he
can't ignore Reva - she's the mother of his children. Annie tells Josh she's
just trying to protect him. Annie wonders if they should even go to the
ball, and reminds him of the fuss Reva made last year. Josh says not to
worry because Reva isn't going to the ball.

The Country Club
The band is warming up, and waiters are preparing tables for the ball.....

Spaulding Study
Roger tells Amanda to cheer up, Alan going to the ball is a stroke of luck.
Amanda doesn't understand and Rog tells her she knew how to cover when Alex
almost caught him searching the desk. Amanda says she did the first thing
that came to mind, and Roger confirms that it was an act. Amanda will do
whatever it takes to get what she wants. Roger steps behind Amanda and tells
her that they'll go to the ball and make an entrance, then once everyone is
distracted, they'll come back to resume their search. Amanda tells Rog he's
a genious. Rog tells Amanda the keys to the kingdom are on the property and
once they find them the future is theirs, then kisses her lightly on the ear.

The Diner
Buzz comes back with his tux, wondering why the Diner is closed. Frank and
Eleni are standing side by side in front of the counter and someone is
sitting behind them. Frank explains that they closed early to go to the
ball, but there was one stubborn customer who refused to leave until they
talked to the owner. Buzz turns to put his tux down and tells Frank to bring
em on. "The service in this joint stinks" says Harley as she steps from
behind Frank and Eleni. Buzz turns around, incredulous, and they hug.

LOWHAD
Annie wonders how Josh knows Reva isn't going to the ball. Josh explains
that he went over to Reva's to pick up Marah's backpack. Annies guesses
that in that case they will have a good time at the ball - she hugs Josh -
"you, me, and our baby". Josh looks sad and Annie glares.

NewRevaBend
Reva tells Billy that Josh has no idea why she wanted to see him. She starts
to explain about something that happened to Sarah a long time ago. Billy
interrupts, telling Reva she needs to stop living in the past, and she tries
to explain again. Billy tells her to finish her mess she's in with Josh.
Reva says she left Buzz, what else is there to do. Billy tells her that she
used to take her lumps and come up swinging. Reva thinks the best thing she
can do is lie low and wait for Josh to deal with Annie. Billy thinks she's
going about it all wrong, and Reva wants to know what he suggests. Billy
thinks Reva should show Josh what he's missing: "you've got to light a fire
under his sorry Lewis butt!" Reva wonders how, and Billy tells her to be his
date for ball. Billy - "we'll show this town something they'll have to talk
about for the next 60 damn years, what do you say?" Reva agrees, and he
picks her up and twirls her around.
