Guiding Light Update
  Friday, Jan. 3

Dinah and her friends return to the Jessup farm after a night of partying.
One of
them is recording their antics. They are all dressed up in gowns and
tuxedos; Dinah looks
pretty good in white. Hart has gone to the stables to check on a mare who
isn't feeling well.
When Dinah tells the group that the horse is depressed, they crack up. Hart
walks in and
doesn't look happy.

At the Spaulding mansion, Phillip pours coffee and Alex comes downstairs
wearing a
flattering blue suit. She complains of a headache (who could blame her with
her family?) and
they discuss the acquisition of Roger along with Advantage Systems. Alex
wants Roger out of
Spaulding and realizes that if he marries her niece he will gain one half of
all she owns.
Alan-Michael arrives with the newspaper. He is upset because Spaulding
stock is up. It's
because of the Advantage Systems deal, and the investors are happy that
Roger has returned
to Spaulding
Roger is asleep in bed at the farm. He doesn't wear jammies. Amanda slinks in
wearing red and observes her fiancee. Suddenly Roger grabs her and pulls
her down to the
bed.

When Hart returns from the barn he refuses coffee and looks a bit perturbed
that
Dinah's friends are still there. The vet is coming to see the mare and he
wants them gone.
Dinah says she'll come to the barn to sit with him until the vet arrives.
When they all light
cigarettes, Dinah at first refuses one, then lights up as Hart looks on unseen.

Roger doesn't like being snuck up on. He wants to know if they are alone.
When
Amanda tells him that Hart & co. are downstairs, Roger tells her that Hart
will eventually
dump Dinah. They discuss Spaulding and Roger reveals that the stockholders
want him
back. She tells him to get up and he says he has to get dressed and is shy
(right). She tosses
his pants on the bed and turns around, but it looks like she wants to peek.

Alex reads the article out loud and the three of them fume over recent
developments.
Alex says they will have to go through with the merger, but her nephews
disagree.

At Co. Bridget is shocked when Dylan shows up. She's even more surprised when
she realizes that he has regained his sight. She wants to know why he
didn't let her know
that he was coming, then adds that he didn't tell her when he left so why
should he. The hurt
is still there. He apologizes and says she has every right to be angry.

Alan overheard his family when they said the merger was a ruse to get him
to walk
again. Alex is calm and collected as her brother raves. He is angry that
they were all in on
the plan and is not grateful. They never intended to go through with the
merger, but it looks
like it will happen now. Roger will own a good piece of Spaulding stock.
Alan wants to work
with Alex and his sons to get Roger out of the company. Phillip and A-M
don't like that idea
but when he mentions that their children's inheritances are at risk, they
begin to listen.

Roger wants to talk to Hart. He mentions how he promised to move after he
healed
from the beating. Although his memory has returned, he is not the same man
and doesn't
have the same feelings as he did. He wants their relationship to be good,
and Hart agrees.
Being a father to Peter has changed how he feels. He then confides in his
dad that Dinah's
friends are a problem. He didn't think Dinah would go for the fast life any
more. Roger says
that's the way she lived in Europe, but Hart thought she wanted the same
kind of life he does.
Roger advises him to compromise, and that it will work out. Leo arrives!
Roger wants him
to put the divorce through as soon as possible. Dinah and Hart are
self-destructing and they
don't need his help. Amanda enters as Roger reveals that he is getting
married. They aren't
really getting married, are they? Roger says no, but it has to look real.

Back at the mansion, the sons are upset because they have to choose between
Alan
and Roger. Alan plays it cool and Alex backs him up. A-M agrees to side
with his dad and
wants to know where they start.

Roger explains that he has to be divorced in order to make it seem that their
intentions are legitimate. Leo has questions but Roger impatiently tells
him to get to work on
the divorce. Leo leaves to do his master's bidding. Roger asks Amanda if
she thought that
they were really getting married. Of course not, giving away half her
fortune would be a bad
deal. She looks a little disappointed, though. Dinah comes out and invites
them to breakfast.
They decline.

Bridget wants to know why Dylan didn't call. He wanted to surprise her.
Alone for a
moment, Dylan says, "It's mighty colorful around here these days." After
being away from
color for so long, I can see his point. Bridget brings Nola over and
introduces her. Petey is
there and Dylan is glad to see him again. After Nola brings Pete to his
playgroup, Jet asks
how he regained his sight. He says lasers and drugs, and he wears contacts
now. His sight is
not 100% back, but he can see. Dylan reveals that he came by Co. the other
night, and
Bridget admits that she went to see him at the center, but left before
visiting him. She felt silly
since he left the way he did. Dylan didn't expect to see Hart. Bridget
defends him, and says
he is a good person and they are trying to be a family.

Dinah's friends have made breakfast. When will that girlfriend of hers
work on her
accent? Every other sentence sounds like New York. Dinah goes in, leaving
Roger and
Amanda alone. Amanda wants to know how they will take over Spaulding.
Roger says that
Alan's greatest weakness is his family, and they will use that against him.
Roger wants his
rightful place beside her in the company.

Jean-Luc suggests that they all go to Guadeloupe for vacation. Dinah is
reluctant at
first, but it doesn't take much to convince her. Hart walks in just as she
agrees.

Dylan feels bad for letting Bridget down, but she says that was a long time
ago. She
talks about Hart and Dylan lets his feelings be known. He really doesn't
like Hart. Bridget
lets Dylan know what's what. She says that although he's engaged he's not
married yet. He
brings up the fact that she stopped another wedding (his and Julie's, by
revealing that Julie
slept with Hart the night before).

Hart is definitely not interested in the vacation plans. He won't even
agree to go next
year. Dinah wants to go, but decides to put the trip off to make him happy.
Hart wants the
friends gone, but it doesn't look likely. Dinah tells Jean-Luc that the
trip is off.

Alan reiterates that the merger must happen in order to protect Spaulding.
The stock
cannot be allowed to go down. Alan's plan is to appeal to Roger's ego. Let
him in the
company and make him think he can get more and more. Then they will strike.
He won't let
Amanda marry him, either. His nemesis arrives with his fiancee, who brags
about Spaulding
finances.

Dylan continues to warn Bridget away from Hart, but she's not interested. Hart
arrives and he and Dylan are not glad to see each other. Dylan makes a
quick exit and, as he
stands on Co.'s porch, thinks back to when he loved Bridget.

Alan toasts his future son-in-law and daughter on their upcoming nuptials.
Alex
mentions that she and Roger will be partners again. Alan is solicitous and
says he has a great
wedding present for them, but won't reveal what it is. Just then lunch is
served. Amanda and
Roger talk before going in. Roger tells her that Alex will be the easy one
to defeat because she
never got over him. His cell phone rings and it's Leo! He is pushing the
divorce through. As
an afterthought he says that he found Dinah's mother. Roger's day is made.
