GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE -- THURSDAY, JANUARY 2, 1997

                 DECISIONS, DECISIONS

Written by Roger Newman & directed by John M. O'Connell

Highlights:
* Zach decides to release Snowbird, to Michelle's distress.
* Jenna decides to tell Buzz about his son, but doesn't.
* Alan decides not to fight Amanda's marriage to Rog. But he will.
* Dylan decides to visit Bridget, but reconsiders when she's with Hart.

LIGHTHOUSE: Michelle & Zachary are kissing. When they finally stop, Zach
says he's wanted to kiss her for "ever so long." Michelle's wanted it
too. They kiss some more.

DINER: Buzz can't believe Jenna is really right in front of him. He
thinks she looks smashing, as always. "It's been awhile," understates
Jenna. Buzz remembers the last time they saw each other, in the airport
when she left town. She says she's come because she has something to
tell him. They are interrupted by a customer who wants a menu. Buzz
obliges, then returns to ask what she wants to tell him. "It's about
us," says Jenna. "Us?" asks Buzz, just as Reva arrives with her kids.

SPAULDING MANSION: Alex is having trouble believing that Amanda & Roger
are engaged. Phillip, AM, Lucy, Hart & Dinah arrive, and Rog announces
the engagement again. Hart speaks for all when he says Rog has taken
them by surprise. He then congratulates them & shakes his dad's hand.
Alex tells them to all get over it, since the wedding will never happen.

Rog hopes everyone will be happy for them. They connected because they
were both going through hard times. Alex is extremely skeptical. Rog
says he & Amanda have no doubts, so it doesn't matter what anyone else
thinks. They have seized happiness for themselves. Dinah thinks it's
wonderful. Alex says it's all for show. Amanda says it has nothing to do
with getting back at Alan. She's happy for the 1st time in her life &
she's never known anybody like Roger. "I've never felt this way before,"
she says. "Hang around a couple of weeks; it'll change, darling," warns
Alex. AM says Amanda & Rog deserve each other like insects that devour
their mates. He suggests a toast to the marriage made in hell. Hart
objects to the way AM is talking about Rog. AM knows all too well what
it's like to have a father you want to defend, but can't trust. Dinah
suggests that AM is hardly the one to cast the 1st stone, considering
his own marriage track record. AM says she's not one to talk either.

Alex pulls Amanda aside & offers her the benefit of her 1st-hand
experience in the dangers of mating with Roger Thorpe. "You're going to
think you're part of his plan, until you realize you are what it's aimed
at." Amanda says just because Roger suckered Alex, doesn't mean it will
happen to her. Alex is sure it will. Amanda may think she can handle
everything, but she'll be left with nothing. Even though they can't
stand each other, Alex truly wants to save Amanda from making the worst
mistake of her life. It won't get her what she wants; it will only get
her hurt. "Stop it right now before you get in any deeper," warns Alex.

LIGHTHOUSE: Zach & Michelle are still kissing. When they come up for
air, Michelle says she doesn't want anything to get in their way
anymore. Neither does Zach. "And I don't want you to stop kissing me,"
she adds. "I don't think I can," replies Zach. They re-engage until they
hear someone clearing his throat. It's J, looking somewhat embarassed.

DINER: Buzz asks Jenna to wait while he enthusiastically greets the
kids. He points them toward ice cream, then introduces Reva to Jenna.
Reva is pleased to meet Jenna, who she's heard so much about. Buzz then
tells Jenna that Reva is his wife. Jenna is gapes speechlessly.

LIGHTHOUSE: "What are you doing here, J?" asks Michelle with distress.
She disappears into the other room. J apologizes to Zach for
interrupting. Zach follows Michelle. J follows Zach. He explains that he
overheard them discussing letting the goose go & thought it would be a
good subject for a photography assignment he has to do. M says they've
decided not to let the goose go after all. J wonders what will happen
when Z leaves town. M says they'll worry about that later; it's not time
yet; it's too soon. J wonders if she's getting too attached. Maybe she's
putting off the inevitable & making things more difficult. He doesn't
want to see her get hurt. He suggests taking some pictures of them
caring for the bird. Zach says no, which surprises Michelle.

SPAULDING MANSION: Amanda appreciates Alex's candidness about her
experience with Rog, but asks her not to spoil this happy day for her.
This is not a plan she cooked up to hurt the family--it's her
engagement. She's finally found a man who loves her completely for who
she is. Rog interrupts to offer the ladies champagne. Alex passes. Rog
escorts Amanda back to where everyone is gathered. Dinah proposes a
toast to the new couple, with wishes that they find true happiness & get
married very soon. Alex continues to rant; she reminds Dinah & Hart of
how Rog hurt them. She can't believe how stupid Amanda is being.

Amanda proposes a toast to her future husband. Alex can't believe
everyone is falling for this. Do they really think one ECT treatment
made Rog a new man? Rog faces Alex down. "Amanda's not falling for
anything. My memory is back; it's fine. So is my brain. Amanda's
marrying the same man you did, Alex."

DINER: Jenna recovers her voice. "Your wife?" she asks incredulously.
Reva pumps Jenna's hand, saying how good it is to meet her. Reva notes
that Buzz didn't mention Jenna was back. Jenna says he didn't know until
she got there just now; when he called last week, she didn't know her
plans. Reva looks at Buzz, chastising him silently for not mentioning
any of this. Buzz says he got Jenna's letter while Reva was out of town.
Reva welcomes Jenna & asks if she's staying. Jenna's not sure yet. The
kids interrupt to grab Buzz to help them clean up a mess made by Shayne.

Reva invites Jenna to sit in a booth & asks again if Jenna's planning to
stay. Jenna's not sure. Some very important things happened to her while
she was in Springfield, & they are still affecting her now. Reva knows
Springfield is like that. Jenna compliments Reva on her beautiful kids &
notes that they seem very attached to Buzz. She wonders if they live
with Reva & Buzz. Reva explains that they're just staying while Josh is
out of the country. Jenna says she hasn't been totally honest. The
reason she's back in town is because of Buzz. "Something happened when I
lived here before." Reva is all ears.

SPAULDING MANSION: Dinah asks if Rog has been faking & lying these past
months. Rog says no, but several weeks ago the gaps in his memory
started coming back. Alex says they can send him back to the sanitarium
for some more shocks to fix him right up. [ROTFL] Rog says he's
remembered not only the events, but also all his old feelings & rage.
But that doesn't mean he'll be ruled by them again. He hopes they will
all learn to trust him. He wishes they can all be family. AM thinks Alex
is right & it's a stab at ripping the family apart. Alex smells a scheme
to destroy the Spauldings.

Rog reiterates his desire to bring what he's learned to his new life
with Amanda. He proposes a toast to Hart & Dinah, hoping they will be as
happy as he & Amanda. Hart thinks it's time for him & Dinah to leave.
Rog assures them that Leo is working hard on the divorce & it should
come through any day now so they can all get on with their lives. Dinah
thinks it's about time. Hart congratulates his dad again before leaving.

Rog notes that Alan hasn't said a word. Alan hasn't had a chance, since
Rog has had the floor. Rog invites Alan to join in a toast to Amanda.

LIGHTHOUSE: Zach explains that J can't take photos of them caring for
the bird because they're letting him go after all. Michelle complains
that it's too soon, but Zach says it will only make things harder. Zach
picks up the goose & heads out of the room. J tries to convince Michelle
that it's the right thing, but she doesn't want to hear it & goes after
Zach. J follows. "Zachary said he was going to go. Let him go." Michelle
wonders why J had to wreck everything. She runs down the stairs after
Zach, leaving J staring helplessly after her.

DINER: Reva knows that Jenna & Buzz were involved, and says she was
lucky, because Buzz is a good man. Jenna says somehow something always
came between them. Reva wants to hear more about Jenna & Buzz. Buzz
joins them in the booth & tells Reva about the beauty cream business. He
& Jenna remember how much fun they had. Buzz says he's a different man
now. Reva thinks they have plenty of fun, but Buzz means he didn't know
what to do with his life back then. "I was not what you'd call a good
catch." Buzz flashes back on a scene where he's trying to convince Jenna
that they can make little Jennas & little Buzzes & be happy together.
Jenna admits that she loves him, but he's got to come with her & start a
new life with her. The scene ends with a passionate kiss.

Buzz says now he's a great catch because Reva has been a great influence
on him. Jenna is glad for them. Buzz says life has obviously been good
for her too. Reva says if Buzz will shut up, maybe Jenna can tell them
why she came back. But it's not to be; the door slams and a voice asks
what he has to do to get some service.

Reva looks up & is thrilled to see Dylan. She jumps up to greet him &
gives him a big hug. Dylan's wearing dark glasses. Jenna looks upset.

Reva can't believe how good Dylan looks. He says she looks good too. She
asks why he didn't tell her he was coming to town & he says he wanted to
see the look of surprise on her face. It suddenly dawns on her that he's
saying he can see her & he takes off his glasses & confirms that his
sight is back. He says it's not even close to 100%, but the nerves are
healing & he's been helped by laser surgery. He wears the dark glasses
because the bright lights hurt his eyes.

Reva hugs him again & says she's still mad at him for not letting her
visit him in the rehab center, but she knows he wanted to go through it
alone. They hug some more.

Back in the booth, Jenna notes that Reva loves her children very much,
as does Buzz. He thinks he has everything he ever wanted. Jenna says she
has a bunch of things to get done, so she has to run. Buzz asks where
she's staying & how long she'll be around. She just says "See ya'" and
runs out, leaving Buzz confused.

Dylan says he tried to book a flight when he heard about Sarah, but the
people at the rehab center nixed it. He's glad Reva was with her. And
Josh. Buzz joins them & Dylan greets him & congratulates him on marrying
Reva. He asks what Buzz hears from Harley. Buzz says she's doing great &
will be thrilled to hear about Dylan's recovery. Reva asks if Dylan is
staying, at least for awhile. He says it depends. He has some unfinished
business. Reva guesses he's talking about Bridget.

OUTSIDE COMPANY: Hart & Dinah kiss passionately. Dinah is thrilled
because it looks like the divorce will be final very soon. Hart says it
was bound to happen because they're meant for each other, like the stars
in the heavens. He points to two stars, but Dinah says that can't be
them because they're too far apart. Hart agrees. They kiss some more.

INSIDE COMPANY: Bridget & Peter play together, flipping through a
magazine. Peter points to a model & says, "Look, Mommy, that's you!" Jet
says she gets paid a lot of money to look that good, but thanks Petey
for the compliment anyway. Hart & Dinah enter, & Hart scoops up Peter.
They fill Bridget in on Rog's recovery & engagement to Amanda & how it
means they can get married soon. Hart tells Peter that "Dinah is going
to be Daddy's wife."

SPAULDING MANSION: Rog offers Alan a glass of champagne. Alan takes it &
asks Amanda to come closer. He offers Amanda & Rog his sincerest
congratulations & says he couldn't be happier. Alex looks distressed.

BEACH: Zach carries the goose, followed by Michelle & J, wielding his
camera. "It's time," says Zach. Michelle says she's not saying good-bye.
Zach tells her not to worry. Michelle says the bird has nothing to do
with them. Zach lets it go & it flies off. Michelle says she's not
crying, but she is. J says he's going back home & offers her a ride. She
turns him down, so he leaves alone.

Michelle says she knows what Zach is doing & she won't let him. She
loves him & she won't let him go. Then she runs away, leaving Zach on
the beach.

DINER: Reva heard that Dylan & Jet were pretty serious. Dylan says he
ruined it by walking out on her because he felt sorry for himself. Reva
figures Jet probably understood, but Dylan doesn't agree. He says he
couldn't stand being around people; he couldn't handle the pity. The
more Jet tried to reach out to him, the more he pushed her away. He
knows he hurt her. Reva asks what he wants to do about it. "Make it up
to her, somehow. Find out if there's still a chance." Reva thinks this
is a good possibility; as far as she knows, it's just Bridget & Peter
right now. Dylan decides to head right over to Company. Reva gives him a
hug of encouragement & sends him on his way.

Reva asks Buzz what happened to Jenna. He shrugs & says she had
something to do. Reva looks thoughtful.

SPAULDING MANSION: Alan proposes a toast to "a very special couple." He
hopes the future will find them as happy as they are right now. AM can't
believe his father is endorsing this match. Alan says he's learned his
lesson about interfering in his children's lives & they're going to get
married anyway. He hopes they'll be happy. Rog & Amanda accept Alan's
good wishes & depart. When they're alone, Rog applauds Amanda & says
they've actually convinced everyone they're getting married.

COMPANY: Peter takes Dinah to show her a painting. Hart is happy to see
them having fun together. Bridget tells Hart she's happy for his good
news. She asks how they're going to celebrate. Hart hasn't thought about
it yet. Dinah's friends from Europe arrive & find out about the good
news too. Dinah suggests a group celebration & Hart reluctantly agrees.
Bridget wishes Hart all the best. She gives him a quick kiss on the
cheek, which Dylan sees when he looks through the window. He looks
dejected & flashes back to a scene with Bridget.

Bridget & Dylan are in a car together & she wonders what he sees in her.
He lists all kinds of things he loves about her. It feels so right being
with her. He loves her & wishes she would say she loved him too. She
can't believe she never said the words, because she's thought about them
so much. They kiss. Dylan returns to the present.

SPAULDING MANSION: Alone with Alex, Alan announces that he's going to
stop "that damned wedding" and Alex is going to help him.

Outside, Amanda thinks it's a bust because Alan didn't get all upset.
Rog says he's more off-balance than he's letting on & is very vulnerable
right now & he needs his family around him. He suggests that Alan alone
is a much easier mark than Alan with the support of the Spauldings.
Amanda doesn't look pleased or convinced.

DINER: Buzz looks at Reva & thinks something's bothering her. She says
she was just thinking about how everything has turned around for Dylan.
Buzz says it's something else. Reva says she got a new lead on Sarah's
other child. She found the doctor who delivered the baby. It makes her
feel nervous. Buzz gives her a hug & says 1997 is going to be the best
year ever.

HOTEL SUITE: Jenna says good night to little Henry & shuts his door. She
paces & hugs herself. "He already has everything. How am I going to tell
him that he has a son?" she asks, as the screen fades to black.
