GUIDING LIGHT TOO BAD IT'S MONDAY
(OR TUESDAY) UPDATE FOR JAN. 22, 1996
WSPR I-TEAM EXCLUSIVE ROCKS S'FIELD DAY

HIGHLIGHTS:
ABBIE and RICK try to figure out what happened
     on their "practice date"
DI threatens to go skin to skin with HART again
AM agonizes over LUCY, and AMANDA and
       ALAN offer SPAULDING "comfort"
FauxyMICHELLE and J exchange spit but she "blows it"
GRIFF and GILLY go on a date, but talk about ROG and
       MARCUS
FauxBRENT is peeved to see fauxMICHELLE push J away,
and takes it out on LOOSEY
MARCUS is displeased to find out what DINAH has done in a
misguided attempt to help her best friend
ROG is delighted when NELL (a.k.a. as DUMBER) spills the beans
; he puts it on the 7 o'clock news

Bauer Kitchen:
Abbie and Dr. Rick kiss. She is embarrassed. He calls it a
"practice date."

Towers:
After Hart calls Di stupid, duh..., she douses him. He tells her it
is as cold as the pond and wonders if she'll warm him up if
hypothermia sets in again. Di tells him she'll give him skin to
skin: her fist in his face.

Cop Shop:
Rog is on his cellular. He tells someone at WSPR that Cutter was
killed by a guy disguised as a woman. It was Brent Lawrence.
They should play the transvestite angle to the hilt. Spaulding
fired this guy, and then hired him a few months later as a
woman, Marion Crane. Nobody at the office could tell the
difference! He assures the person at the other end that his
source is impeccable, casting a glance at Dumber. He has one
more source to tap into (?), and then the story should hit the air.
Rog is gleeful; this will get a 25 share, maybe a 30. This is the
biggest story to hit S'field in a generation, and it is a WSPR
excusive. [A generation? Maybe that is going a bit far,
considering that this is a soap] Folly approaches and Hol asks
him, "What would that be?" Rog looks at her, trying to come up
with a shifty answer.

Lighthouse:
FauxBrent wonders what the sound was. Telling Luce to shut up,
we cut to J and fauxyMichelle. He's trying to coax her up the
stairs to see the view. He wonders if Chelle is scared of ghosts.
Loosey hears him and calls for help.

TWIRL LIGHTHOUSE

Spaulding Enterprizes:
AM and Amanda are standing by the computer. AM is begging Brent
to call back. Amanda thinks Brent is trying to get AM strung out.
AM thinks he has reached that point. He strikes out at Mandy
when she tells him she's sure he and Frank will rescue Lucy. AM
says the cops won't be involved if he can help it. Amanda tries
to tell him Frank is a pro, but AM points out he just got out of
the Academy last week. [Where is the FBI?] When Mandy says that
they've got to stick together, Alan enters echoing agreement. AdashM
doesn't want his help.

Haunted Lighthouse:
Goosey is still yelling for help. Brent finds her and throws her
on the bed.
Cut to:
FauxyMichelle who asks J what the noise she heard was. J thinks it is
just the wind blowing through the cracks. J starts spinning a
story about some woman who waited in vain for her ship captain
hubby to return to the Lighthouse. Chelle believes this even though
she has lived in S'field her whole life.
Cut to:
Brent who, with a knife between his teeth, is tying up Loosey.
Her ankles and wrists are bound, and he covers her mouth with
black duct tape. He leaves with the knife, telling her that he
can't keep company waiting.
Cut to:
fauxyMichelle listening as J continues his BS about the ghost of Molly
Deane. J and fauxyM (Jelle) then come together in a major lip lock, sharing
spit. I find this too disgusting for words!!!!
Brent watches all this.

Bauer Kitchen:
Rick is apologizing for being a major ham. He tells Abby how he
almost broke realMichelle's leg teaching her to dance. He tells
Abby that when she starts to date she'll be fine since she's a
good person with a wonderful heart. She should be herself. Abby
says this is all a mistake and runs away from the clueless Rick.

Towers:
The server is sponging off Hart. He promises he will keep out of
Di's business, but then proceeds to again tell her how awful Rog
is. He'd like to spare her the disillusionment he went through
when he found out what Rog really was. He tells her she can
always count on him, and exits.
Enter the two goons. Di calls Marcus. She has great news she
must tell him in person. Griff and Gilly enter on a dinner date.
He complains that he has memorized the entire room service
menu. Gilly wants to know the real reason for their date. Griff
is worried about the theft charge. Gilly thinks all will be well if
Rog can be connected to the call that set Marcus up. Griff
wants to know everything Gilly knows about "that Thorpe
character."

Cop HQ:
Rog greets "the paper press." Hol wants to know what the story
is, but Rog says WSPR won't share with the Journal. Fletch
wonders if Rog is playing at being a reporter now. Says Rog,
"How hard can it be? You do it." Rog threatens them with a
libel suit if they persue the story that he set up Marcus. Dumb
and Dumber are discussing the fact that nothing turned up about
Brent in their canvass of area stores. Rog exits, continuing to butter
up Dumber on his way out.
Folly asks Frank about the tape which is being enhanced. He
tells them that Brent has contacted AM via computer.

Lighthouse:
Jelle are ugh still kissing. Then he tries to feel her up. Chelle
pulls back telling him that she's not like that. J tells her that
he thought she wanted it; why did she bring him to the beach?
fauxyM. says she thought they could be friends, and J says that's ok
with him since he never forces himself on a woman. J tells her
that he will see her around school, that she is a nice kid. fauxyM.
vehemently declares she isn't a kid but it is all too fast.
Cut to:
Lucy, all tied up. Brent comes running in all worked up.
"Every last one of you lying cheating sluts deserve to die."

HALFTIME

Lighthouse Again:
Brent gets control. He thinks killing her would be too easy since
it would end her suffering. He throws down the knife which sticks
in the floor. He rips off the tape and tells her to say
something. He thinks this is all part of the eternal game: the
bimbo lured her boyfriend here with false promises just like
Loosey did when they had their big date.

Spaulding Office:
Mandy tries to get Alan to leave, but he wants to stay. He tells
AM he can get top computer experts but AM seems to think the
Spaulding staff is enuf. They have told him Brent is using a cell
phone and changing his number everytime he calls which makes him
impossible to trace. The modem cheeps, and Brent is transmitting
a picture of Lucy with her mouth still covered with duct tape.
He taunts AM, tells him the curtain will be going up soon.

Cop Shop:
Dumber enters with the tape, which she says was recorded on
Monday Nov. 13, at 7:05 p.m. Frank reminds them that even if they
id Rog, it only proves that he turned Marcus in, not that Marcus
didn't take the money. Hol thinks when Hamp hears the tape he
will drop the charges. Rog sounds like Henry Kissingjerk to me,
but Folly is not sure if it is Roger. Hart enters saying, "Well,
if it isn't the harmonious tones of dear old Dad."

Cut to:
Shot of elevator, with feet crossing a room. We hear a muttered
conversation going on in another room about cell phones. Close-
up on a drawer with hanging files. Surprise, it's old Rog. He
grabs the Marion Crane file from Goosey's desk.

Bauer Abode:
Rick wants to talk to Abby about what has happened. He doesn't
want any misunderstanding or confusion. He says he set the
whole thing up because he thought there was a boy in her ASL
class she had a crush on. Enter fauxyMichelle. She tells Abby
that her date with J was a bust. Rick wants to know who J is.
She tells them she blew it. She gave him the wrong signals. Rick
wants to know if he made a pass. Nope, it was more of a fumble.
Rick wants to know if he put his hands where fauxM. didn't want
them to go. When she admits it, Rick wants to go kill him.

Towers:
Marcus enters and wonders what's so important. He is not exactly
a VIP at the Towers. Di tells him that Rog is going to reveal
the real suspect on the WSPR 7 p.m. news, and then he is going
to help get the theft charges dropped. Marcus is very upset,
and demands to know what Roger knows. Griff waves and Marcus
halfheartedly returns his greeting.
Griff hopes Marcus didn't injure "himself in his zeal to return my
greeting." Gilly realizes how much Griff admires Marcus despite
the rift between them. Griff wants to know why Rog has it in for
Marcus. Gilly thinks it is because he is a good friend of Di's.
Griff can't believe that "for that he found it necessary to
frame my son. Roger's methods are to say the least extreme and
illegal." Gilly says that describes Rog to a T. He will run over
anyone to get what he wants. Some people think he only married
Di to get her family's goat.

Spaulding:
Alan and Amanda try to reassure AM that Brent will be found. AM
vows that Brent is a dead man. Brent continues his little show,
and AM is shocked to see how scared Loosey is. Brent declares
that they are out of time, and signs off with TTFN, Ta ta for
now.

Lighthouse:
Brent tells Luce he has errands to run, and reties only her
feet to the bed.

Spaulding:
Amanda hears a noise, and finds Rog in the anteroom. He
secretes the file while making lame excuses for his presence.
Mandy tells Rog that no info can be given to the press, it is a
matter of life or death. Rog exits.

Bauer Kitchen:
FauxyMichelle is telling Rick that she led J on, and it is all her
fault. Rick tells her guys have the self control of rabbits. She
wants to handle it herself. They are yelling and have to sign
to Abby that all is ok. They make up their minds to watch a
movie on the tube. Rick exits to buy popcorn. Chelle and Abby
commiserate on how they both "blew it." fauxyMichelle has the
following words of wisdom: "Girl this man-woman thing is sure a
lot harder than it looks on TV." [Gag--can you imagine real
Michelle ever talking like this? Bring back Maureen if only as a
ghost to set this girl straight]

Cop HQ:
Hart was looking for Folly. He thinks the voice sounds a lot
like Rog. Dumber suggests a voice print. One of them will have to
wear a wire. They can go to the spy store on 3hd St., then bring
the tape to the lab. They all are happy to volunteer to wear
the wire to catch Rog on tape.

Towers:
Marcus tells Di he knew all about the other suspect. Everyone
who knew was keeping it a secret to protect Loosey. Marcus
tells Di she must find Rog and stop him.

Lighthouse:
Loosey is loose. She gets to the knife and frees her hands and
feet. She tries to get into the room with the modem.

Towers:
Rog enters and pays Max to turn the TV to WSPR.
"This is a WSPR I-team exclusive. We have learned that the
murder of Detective Patrick Cutter is anything but open and
shut (A pix of Patrick flashes on the screen). Marcus Williams
was given bail last week because of a bizarre break in the case.
There is a new suspect, Marion Crane, a.k.a. as Brent Lawrence
(pix of fauxBrent). Disguised as a woman, he stalked Cutter for
several months.

Cut to:
Bauer Kitchen:
We see them watching the news.
"Brent Lawrence was fired last summer for misconduct, believed
dead, and then rehired 5 months later as a woman (pix of Marion).
Although the motive for the murder of Patrick Cutter is unclear,
the I team will continue to keep you updated on this breaking
story."
Abigail tells Rick that she recognizes Cutter and Marion.

Cut to:
Spaulding:
The phone rings and Alex tells them to watch the news.
"This newscast will be followed by an in-depth special."
AM is shocked and horrified. He fears for Lucy's life.

Cut to :
Springfield Mall:
Brent is there and J spots him. There is a picture of fauxBrent
with the police number at the bottom of the screen.
J yells, "It's him. It's you. Hey you!"
Today's FREEZE FRAME: Brent Lawrence, wearing a baseball cap,
looking shifty at the Mall.
