GUIDEING LIGHT: UPDATE FOR FRIDAY JANUARY 12, 1996
			episode written by Ralph Wakefield

	JESSUP FARM

Dinah takes off Hart's wet clothes while she admonishes him for going on
the ice. She covers him with her coat while he shivers. When she
unbuckles his belt, Hart smiles.

	POLICE HEADQUARTERS

Levy meets with Ross & Marcus. Ross called the meeting because Griffin
told him that there's another suspect. Levy won't tell Ross any more.
Griffin walks in and asks Levy why he can't tell them more.

Outside the office, Alan Michael, Frank & Nell discuss what they found on
Brent's computer. Nell goes to see if they have found Cassie. Frank &
AM worry about what Brent will do to Lucy.

	LIGHTHOUSE

Lucy tries to pick the lock with her fan, then wonders if she can break
the window with a chair. fauxBrent comes in & tells her that she
shouldn't be in a hurry to go. He makes a Z in the air with a knife and
asks Lucy what it stands for. She says Zorro, but Brent says it stands
for zero-- the time she has left.

	FARM

Dinah tries to find more coverings for Hart, but can't so she gets under
the covers with him & hugs him. He smiles.

	POLICE

In his mind Alan Michael hears Lucy calling for help & Brent saying that
no one can help Lucy.

	LIGHTHOUSE

Lucy asks Brent what he is going to do to her. Brent, "Me, me, me.
Nothing but me's. Don't you think about anyone but yourself? There's a
whole world full of people who have needs and desires. My need is to
fulfill your need. And I know what you need even if you're too shy to
tell me. A peanut butter sandwich." She refuses it. He tells her that
masquerading as a woman was more trouble than he expected, shaving his
legs, pantyhose, padding, the wig, and the prosthesis that took two hours
to apply. He also had to kill people who got in his way.

	POLICE

Griffin is upset that his son is still in jail. Fletcher, Holly & Gilly
arrive. Griffin asked them to come so that they could tell the whole
story about Cutter's murder. Levy won't say anything more. Marcus wants
to know what's going also. Fletch asks Levy if this has anything to do
with what happened at the country club last night. Levy says it might.
Griffin wonders why there are secrets if they aren't covering something
up. He wants to talk to "this rookie Cooper" who purposefully withheld
information. Cooper will be held accountable. He threatens to go public
and asks Gilly to help. Gilly won't interfere in the investigation
because someone could get hurt. Griffin is surprised that she knows
about it too. He yells that he wants Officer Cooper to answer his
questions and demands that he see him now.
Holly, "Frank Cooper has his hands full right now. His sister is
being held hostage by this other suspect."
Fletch, "Red, what are you doing here."
	Levy, "Thanks alot lady."
Holly, "I think he ought to know that you're not the only one involved
here. You want to broadcast everything the police know about
this other suspect before they find him? You want to put
Frank Cooper's sister at risk because you want headlines?
Talk to him, he's out there."

Frank tells AM that Cassie is coming in and wants AM to let them handle
her. Cassie walks in with a policeman.

Ross asks Levy if the person who killed Cutter has Lucy. Levy says it
looks like it, but won't mention names because if it gets into the media
her life could be in danger. Marcus tells everyone that they have to
keep it quiet, no one is getting hurt because of him. Holly, Gilly,
Ross, & Griffin agree that it stays in the room. Ross wants another bail
hearing. Levy offers to go to the DA. Griffin tells Levy that he
didn't mean to criticize the police's ability to conduct an
investigation. He reacted as a father to his son's unjust
incarceration. Levy and Marcus leave. Gilly asks Griffin if she can
attend the bail hearing. Holly tells Griffin that "the rookie cop,
Cooper, that you keep running down is responsible for keeping the
investigation open. You owe him."

When Cassie meets Frank she remembers that Frank & Buzz tried to run
Brent out of town. Frank asks about her brother. She asks for a lawyer
if she's being charged with something. Frank tells her that they know
that Brent has called her. She protests that Brent is dead. Frank tells
her that she's being charged with aiding a fugitive and conspiring to
commit fraude. AM says she helped fake her brother's death. She insists
that Brent is dead. Frank tells her that they found the doctor who
falsified the death certificate & they're going to exhume the coffin.
Cassie says she was only trying to help her brother when the Spauldings
ruined his life. She never believed that Brent raped Lucy. Levy tells
her that Brent kidnapped Lucy. She says that's impossible because he
promised to leave Springfield and tells them to ask his roommate Marian.
AM, "You really don't know, do you?" He plays the CD-ROM of Brent
admitting he was Marian. Cassie doesn't believe it, she thinks they are
trying to trick her. Brent isn't capable of this. Frank decides to show
her what Brent is capable of.

	DINER

Buzz yells at a broken toaster when a woman shows up. He tells her to
wait and she wonders about the reception at this place. She dressed
better this time, but that didn't help. Buzz tells her to come back and
apologizes. She asks for coffee and says she used to work here a long
time ago. She stopped by last night to see Nadine. Buzz introduces
himself. She says that Nadine used to talk about him all the time. Buzz
tells her that Nadine left to start a new life.

	MORGUE

Frank shows Cassie the woman's body and asks her to decide if she wants
to protect Brent.

	LIGHTHOUSE

Lucy holds the locket that Nadine gave her and asks Brent why he killed
Nadine. Brent tells Lucy that Nadine brought it on herself by breaking
into his apartment and finding the test results. She deserved to die.
Lucy starts calling him names and when she calls him a loser, he starts
hearing his mother yelling at him while Lucy continues to talk.

	MORGUE

Frank makes Cassie look at the body and tells her that they don't know
who the woman is, but she had a life and was married. She might have
kids waiting for her to come home. They can't tell the family so that
they can claim the body for burial. "This is what your brother did."

	DINER

The woman tells Buzz that Nadine took her in when her mother didn't have
time. Without Nadine she could have been in jail or dead. Nadine was
her guardian angel. Buzz thinks that sounds like Deenie. He used to
lean on her too. She needed to get away from him, so she left and didn't
say where she was going or when she'd be back. Buzz misses her, but he
couldn't make her happy and she deserves to be happy.

	FARM

Dinah is still in bed with Hart. He thanks her for helping him and
saving his life. He tells her that he acted like a jerk so he's
surprised she didn't roll him back in. Dinah believes in recycling just
about anything. Hart used to believe she was cold, mean as a snake, but
he was wrong. Dinah looks at him and realizes he's stopped shaking. She
gets out of bed to start a fire to dry his clothes. Hart thanks her
again. Dinah tells Hart about being at the house last April after the
5th street ball, when she ended up in bed with Roger. Hart says he
envies his father for that night and every night since.

	POLICE

Cassie is upset & would tell them where Brent is if she knew. She tells
them that Brent was abused by their mother.

	LIGHTHOUSE

Lucy and Brent's mother criticize Brent. Brent turns to Lucy, calls her
Mother, tells her to shut up and shakes her.

	POLICE

AM tells Cassie that he won't feel sorry for Brent, that being tortured
doesn't give Brent the right to torture others. Many kids are victims
and manage to grow up without victimizing women and murdering people.
Brent is not the victim. Cassie blames herself for not admitting what
happened to Brent and she knows what he's done. She doesn't know where
he is. Frank asks for any information about Brent that might help.

	COURTHOUSE

Ross & Marcus are waiting for a judge. <Gilly, Griffin, Fletch & Holly
are there too.> The judge tells them that Griffin Williams has the press
in his hip pocket and wants to remind them that a cop was brutally
murdered. He won't be influenced by the "circus antics that have been
manufactured on behalf of Marcus Williams." The DA wants to approach the
bench and clear things up.

	FARM

Hart explains that it's great that his father has found someone to keep
up with him and make him happy. Dinah thinks Hart is smart enough not to
try and hit on her again. She gets her coat. He asks if he can stay
until his clothes are dry and if she's worried that he might steal
something. Dinah doesn't think there's anything worth stealing and he
couldn't get anything that Roger has. Hart tells her that he's not going
to patch things up with his father. She doesn't want to be involved.
Before she leaves she tells him that she's glad he's not a popsicle.

	COURTHOUSE

The judge agrees that Marcus can have bail. Dinah arrives. Ross tells
the judge that Griffin will take responsibility for his son. The bail is
set at $250,000. Dinah wants to celebrate, so Marcus invites everyone to
a party at Company. Dinah asks Griffin if he is coming. He will if his
son wants him. Marcus says it doesn't bother him. Marcus asks where
Dinah has been all day. Dinah, "No place important."

	FARM

Hart, "You know Dad, getting back at you could be a lot of fun."

	LIGHTHOUSE

Lucy tells Brent he can change things. Brent tells her that he has to
make sure AM joins them. She tries to stop Brent, but doesn't. She
pounds on the door and tells him to leave AM out of it.

	POLICE

AM takes Cassie to his office to look over a few things. Frank asks her
to tell them if Brent contacts her. She promises to.

Nell carries the envelope of personal effects of the Jane Doe in the
shower curtain. Frank opens it and finds the wedding ring. He reads the
inscription & is shocked. Nell asks what's wrong. Frank, "This belongs
to my mother."
