Alley is skating in the park and stops. Straight ahead of her is Danny making a
deal with someone!

Jacob is still ranting about Nick as he tries to leave. He tells Jacob that he's
not who Jacob thinks he is.

The limo pulls up. Richard gets out and thanks Samuel for the lift. He looks up at
the building and says it's showtime.

The lady carrying the little girl rushes to the clinic door and starts kicking it.
Angie answers and after putting the child in Angie's arms, the lady runs away.
Sydney's standing there and Angie asks her for help. Putting the girl in Sydney's
arms, Angie goes to get her supplies.

Sydney lays her on a table and applies pressure to the wound. Angie tries to get
information from the little girl but she's not talking. Sydney has blood on her
white suit. They start cleaning the wound.

Jacob isn't buying any. Even with the NR on the guitar case, he tries to deny being
Nick Rivers. He tells Jacob the NR stands for "no requests". Thanking Buck for the
drinks, he leaves. Jacob knows he's lying.

The lady is rushing out and runs into Richard.
R: "Hey, hey. Come here, come here! You ever watch where you're going? hum?"
L: "Takes too much time."
R: "In a bit of a hurry, are ya?"
L: "You the village idiot or what?"
R: "Or maybe like or what. Slow down. You'll live longer and so might the rest of us!"
L: "Thanks for the advice!" (she starts to leave)
R: "Any time! Wait a minute, wait a minute, come here, come here! (he yanks her back)
I"d like it back before we say our goodbyes, Thank-you, come on!"

There's a shot of Nick walking across the street.

In the park, Ally skates past as Danny is finishing his business. She stops and
asks him if he's on probation in another town, does he still have to be a good boy.
The other guy leaves as she asks what he bought, grass, cocaine, or heroine. He
pulls out the envelope and shows her tickets to a Nicks game. Disappointed, she
starts to put her headphones back on but he stops her.
D: "I don't suppose I get an apology?"
A: "You may be clean now, today or tomorrow, but how long is it going to last Danny?"
D: "If I hang around with you much longer, the DT's will be like a walk in the park!"
A: "You don't wanta hear the truth. What is it they say, once a druggy, always a
druggy!" (she tries to skate away but he stops her again)
D: "As hard as this might be for you to believe, officer, I'm not looking for trouble."
A: "Well, I'm sure it'll find you!"
D: "You, on the other hand, are positively begging for it!"

Ally asks Danny what he's talking about.
D: "THAT!" ( he's talking about the outfit. Black shorty top, black leggings(?),
and a silver vest)
A: "What's wrong with this?"
D: "Not a thing, if you're turning tricks on 9th avenue. You might wanna lose the
vest, get it all out there so the customers can see what you're selling?"
A: "Well, of course you would know what sells, since the only way you can get
anything is if you pay for it!"
D: "Let me give you some free advice."
A: "No, let me tell you what you can do with your advice!"
D: "Don't go strutting your stuff all over the place in that cute little skating
outfit okay? (There's a little old lady watching them in the background) Showing
your butt off to every passerby. This ain't Corinth!"
A: "Really! Well, you learn something new every day!"
(He tosses her the basketball he's been carrying as the lady moves in closer)
D: "Keep it up, toughy. Your friends back home, oh they'll see you in the papers
and I don't mean the sports page!"
(She throws the ball back)
A: "Are you through?"
D: "With you? Oh yeah!"
A: "Bye, I'll see you on 9th avenue!"
D: "Ha, you're going the wrong way!"
A: "Well, it's away from you so it must be the right way!" (she skates off)
D: "Happy Trails!"

(For the time being, since I don't know their names yet, the one with Richard will
be yl= young lady and the one with Ally will be ol= old lady)

Ally's skating along and almost runs over the old lady. She apologizes and asks if
she's okay.
ol: "Oh darling, I made it to 87. No blade roller is going to put me out!"
A: "I guess he was right."
ol: "What dear?"
A: "Listen, I just moved to New York and I guess I have a few things to learn,
well, more than a few things."
ol: "Where you from?"
A: "Corinth? It's a town in Pennsylvania."
ol: "Small town."
A: "Well, it's not THAT small but it's nothing compared to New York City!"
ol: "Well, how do you like us so far?"
A: "I love it! It's just an easy place to get lost in."
ol: "True, but there's New York and then there's NEW YORK!"
A: "What do you mean?"
ol: "Come on, I'll show you."

Richard tells yl he wants his wallet back and takes it out of her pocket.
yl: "Look, I was hungry, okay?"
R: "Do I look like a salad bar to you?"
yl: "Yeah, the wilted lettuce!"
R: "Oh, everyone's a comic!"
yl: "Actually, you look like this guy I saw on TV who did a show on the homeless
which ps was a total CROCK!"
R: "Oh everyone's a critic!"
yl: "Yeah, actually, you want me to lie?"
R: "No, I wouldn't want you to spread yourself too thin. What was wrong with the show?"
yl: "Oh, what do you care the show's over, now."
R: "Because it's the first half of a series. If you like, you can still have some
input. So why don't you give me the skinny on the homeless?"
yl: "Yeah, you think I can't?"
R: "I wouldn't put anything past you, dig wa?" (that's what it sounded like)
yl: "Yeah well, I don't GIVE my story ..."
R: "Oh, YOUR story, it's your story, is it?"
yl: "Yeah, not to brag, but the story of my life would knock your socks off. So,
you want it?"
(Richard mumbles something pertaining to socks)
yl: "Just put your money where your mouth is, Mr Whiskers!"
R: "Mr. Wilkins."
yl: "Whatever."
He hands her a 100 dollar bill.

Angie is putting bandages on the little girl. She says she'll have to track down
the parents. Sydney says she'll call the police. Angie doesn't think that's
necessary, she'll take care of it. They talk about the clinic as Sydney looks
around. Angie hasn't been able to put up shelves, let alone hire a staff. Then she
recognizes Sydney.

Jacob is playing pool and still trying to tell Buck who Nick is. Buck still doesn't
know him. Then Jacob asks if he heard the song "Lazy Sunday".
B: "Whoa, that was a big hit wasn't it?"
J: "Duh, yeah it was!"
B: "Well duh, did he have any others?"
J: "Well, he had a couple that came kinda close but um, you know, around the late
70's he kinda disappeared!"
B: "Yeah, a one-hit-wonder!"
J: "No man, it wasn't like that, he wasn't into hit records."
B: "Well what then, art?"
J: "Yeah, he had his own style, you know, he liked to BUCK the trend, ha ha, no pun
intended, dude!"
B: "Yeah well, maybe that's why he disappeared!"
J: "You're pretty cynical today, aren't you?"
B: "No, I just don't think much of failure, that's all!"
J: "Yeah well, there are alot of people out there that would think he didn't fail."
B: "People who don't have to make a living say stuff like that. You know, Jacob,
this place goes belly-up, you're not going to hear one person say, Oh, Buck Huston
didn't fail, he was too artistic!"
J: "Buck come on you gotta stop... don't worry about it man, we're going to be
okay. It's gonna work.."
B: "Yeah Jacob, it's not your money on the line. Okay?"
J: "o-o-oh! You know something man, you keep throwing that money thing up in my
face everytime we have a conversation, I'm going to have to rethink this, uh,
partner thing!"
B: "Oh wow, I'm sorry, all right?"
J: "Whatever!"
B: "It's just that everything I have is in this place and not just the money.
Everything I have left in here (his heart) okay? I mean maybe we should call this
place the Last Chance Saloon."
J: "It's gonna work. We're gonna be fine, all right?"
B: "I just don't wanna wind up like that guy that was just in here. A look-alike
for a has-been!"

Ally has taken her skates off and as they walk along the old lady says they're
almost there. They stop at a large gate and she tells Ally to come in, don't be afraid.

They are in a garden. She tells Ally welcome to New York. (it is beautiful) Ally
says she has to show it to a friend of hers. The ol asks if it was the "boy" in the
park. When Ally denies he's a friend, the ol says good. The ol tells her that she's
87 and knows trouble when she sees it.

The yl is telling Richard a story about being thrown out of a truck. He's sitting
on the floor while she paces back and forth. She tells him she went to the hospital
and when they found out she didn't have any money, they threw her out of there,
too. She tells him she hit the streets and found a new "Protector", Chicago Sam.
After he "protected" her black and blue, she split and here she is. Richard asks
how much a more believable story would cost him. He offers her $500 and tells her
maybe they can do business, several kinds of business. They get up and leave.

Angie's apologizing for treating her like a normal person. Sydney asks her name.
A: "I'm Angela Hubbard..uh, Harrison."
S: "You're not sure?"
A: "Oh, somedays I'm not sure about a lot of things."
S: "Yeah well, welcome to the club!"
A: "I can't believe that applies to you!"
S: "Oh sure, she always knows exactly where she's going, never rusts, burns or
scorches!"
A: "I didn't mean it that way!"
S: "No, I know you didn't."
A: "You're outfit is ruined!"
S: "That's all right, I have another. Well good-luck, Angela."
A: "Angie."
S: "Angie..Syd."
A: "Syd."
S: "So you're going to look after this little one then?"
A: "Yeah, you bet!" (Syd picks up her purse)
S: "Okay, good-bye."
A: "Bye."
The little girl gets off the table. Angie asks if she's feeling better and tells
her they need to get some lunch. She goes to get something from her purse and the
girl slips out.

Nick's in the park playing his guitar and singing as they show different scenes of
New York people. Jacob walks up clapping and says Happy Birthday never sounded so good.

The yl is in a building. She knows the combination to a gate, goes in, takes a
little box from a hiding place. She puts her money in it. She hears something and
quickly puts the box back, closes the gate and rushes upstairs.

Syd's in the elevator looking through some papers. The door opens and there's Richard!
S: "Richie, Darling!"
R: "Oh, watch out, she's being friendly, trouble brewing! Nice pattern, who's your
designer?"
S: "Charles Manson! You like it?"
R: "Yeah, love it but red's not my color."
S: "Oh that's too bad because when I'm finished, there's going to be alot more
blood spilt! Your's to be specific. Come with me, dear!"
R: "Ah, come on, you wouldn't hurt your one and only son, would ya, Mum?"
S: "Oh, watch me!"
The elevator door closes...
