Subject: Loving Update for Wed. 10/18/95

Gwyn has come back to her apartment with Steffi and Tony. She's been
questioned by Charles and Tony. Neal Warren upset her with his
announcement that he's her father. Tony says "It's a dirty job, but
someone has to do it." Gwyn asks him to leave. He tells her there are
more questions. She told them she was going to Jeremy's earlier but
never showed up. Why?

Charles is at the Rodeo Bar. Buck offers another beer but Charles
declines. Buck gives him a bad time about tracking down the killer.
Charles tells him if he doesn't want his business just say so. Buck says
he tried that. Lorraine comes in and scolds Buck for his treatment of
a law enforcement official. Buck tells her "Welcome to Corinth".
Ally comes in to see Jocelyn to "talk".

Jacob is on the phone with Tess. He wants to know about zoning
ordinances. There's a knock at the door so he cuts the conversation
short. It's Angie, upset about Jeremy's death, and she needs to be held.

opening credits

Tony is looking at the photo of Trisha and Chris but Gwyn takes it from
him.
G: "I wasn't aware my comings and goings were such a point of fascination
for you."
T: "Oh, I don't mean to pry."
G: "Oh yes you do, I'm surprised you didn't show up here with the sodium
pentathol and a rubber hose!"
T: (to Steffi) "She's joking."
S: "Don't you think you could leave her alone, MY GOD Tony!"
T: "No, I can't do that Steff, okay? This is the closest we've come to
gettin' on a warm path to this killer and I'm not going to lose it on
account I'm too delicate to ask the right questions!
G: "Okay, all right, okay fine! I understand that you are just doing your
job. Look, I explained to you, I explained to you Tony, down at the
station, he had said something about running some errands and so I ran
some of my own errands. And I'm sorry, detective, I didn't log in so I
can't tell you if I had enough time to run over and kill someone who has
filled the emptiness in my life now that my family is gone!
T: "Gwyn, I am not accusing you, okay? I was just wondering if maybe you
saw someone or felt like you were being followed, you know? I mean maybe
someone was scoping you out, only you got away, so they went after
Jeremy!"
Gwyn's even more upset and looks at the picture again. Tony asks if she's
seen Trisha.

Jocelyn is talking to Ally as Buck saunters over.
B: "Some people have happy hours. I get a bar full of undesirables. Is
she bothering you?"
A: "No"
B: "If that changes, I'm just a holler away."
J: "Excuse me Buck, are you going to tear into all of your customers or
just Harrison and me? What's the occasion?"
B: "Well, since you asked, today would have been Stacey's birthday!"
A: "Oh Buck, I'm sorry!"
B: "So I hope you don't mind my workin' the room isn't quite up to your
expectations, Counselor!"
J: "If I would have known.."
A: "He's having a real hard time right now. What happened to Stacey
wasn't fair."
J: "Well, I'm sure you can relate to that. You certainly have been
dealing with a lot of injustice yourself lately, haven't you?"
Lorraine and Charles are sitting down at a table. She apologizes for
her behavior the last time they talked. She tells him he looks tired. He
says he's been pulled every which way and he's tapped out. She reaches
into her purse. She says she has something to take his mind off his
troubles.

Angie Tells Jacob she doesn't want to except that Jeremy is dead. She
tells him she tried to talk to Charles so she could get on with her life.
She screams,WHY? She tells Jacob it was Jeremy that helped her get
through Jesse's death. He tries to comfort her by saying maybe death
doesn't mean that everything's over. She says it certainly feels that
way.
J: "Well, it wasn't the end for Jesse."

Jacob gets the special box and starts explaining about her wedding day.
He tells her to sit down. He reminds her of the time he told her about
the picture. He finally tells her about the hitchhiker he picked up,
Jesse.

Ally jumps up, fully defensive at what Jocelyn said. She tells Jocelyn to
go work on Danny's guilt. Ally thinks Jocelyn's trying to make her mess
up. Jocelyn denies it.

Lorraine hands Charles a little photo album. It's full of baby pictures
of Brianna. Charles is choked up. She says she'll make copies for him.
Charles starts doubting himself as a cop.
L: "Charles Harrison, you stop right now! You listen to me. I have spent
my entire morning surrounded with folk that got backbones that need
working on. That is NOT your problem. All right sweetheart, right now you
are tired. When was the last time you had a night's rest?"
C: "There's no time.."
L: "NO! You MAKE time! Honey, if you don't take care of yourself you will
be no good for anybody."
C: "You're right, Lorry. I should go home, but I can't go home like this.
I'm a mess."
Lorraine takes Charles by the hand and leads him out of the bar.

Gwyn tells Tony to accuse her all he wants to but to leave Trisha out of
it. She says she hasn't seen her. The phone rings and while Gwyn answers
it, Tony tells Steffi to butt out. Gwyn says the phone is for him.
G: "Steffi, you don't have to fight my battles for me, really."
S: "I'm sorry Gwyn. It's just so frustrating this way and you have enough
to deal with as it is."
G: "Yeah well, I don't also want to deal with causing a rift between you
and Tony, okay? Let me handle him."
S: "Okay I, listen, when he leaves, if it's okay, um, I'd like to stick
around and.."
G: "Steffi, I'm fine, I DO appreciate the offer."
T: "Guess who we just took into custody?"

Jocelyn tells Ally that if Danny raped anybody, she'd be the first to
want him punished.
J: "You are not the first rape victim I've dealt with, not by a long
shot. And what these women have to put themselves through when they come
forth and report a rape? It's a nightmare, Ally."
A: "Yeah, I know."
J: "NO, I don't think you do. Whatever it is that you've had to go
through, however bad it might be, it is nothing compared to what most
women face. They don't have someone running interference between
themselves and the cretins who are going to think that they were asking
for it or that they could have at least defended themselves. Do you have
any idea how many cases have had to go through court before we even got
to the point where we are today? Where they automatically provide
counselling for victims? Where there's automatically a female cop there
when they're taking them to court. All of these changes and it's still an
uphill battle for most women. Now, when we get a false accusation, when
someone cries rape and they really have some other kind of agenda, do you
have any idea what kind of setback that is for thousands and thousands of
women?"
A: "I don't know what this has to do with me."
J: (heavy sigh) I've said what I have to say. This isn't about Danny or
what he did to you or Casey. This is about looking in the mirror every
morning and liking the person that you see. Oh, I know you want to do the
right thing, Ally. I KNOW it!"
Jocelyn leaves. Buck comes over and tells Ally not to take whatever
Jocelyn told her too seriously.

Angie asks if Jacob wants her to believe that Jesse came back from the
dead to deliver the photo. He explains he doesn't know if Jesse was a
ghost or a spirit but he WAS there. He tells her Jesse wanted to make
sure Angie was looked after. Angie says she believes him but doesn't
know why.
J: "Well, 'cause what you told me about Jeremy, how you lost him, same
way
you lost Jesse and Stacey. I mean, I'm thinking that maybe when you die,
it's not the end of the story. You know, like a part of you remains
intact somehow and is out there in some other dimension. MY GOD, I can't
believe I'm talking like this. They're going to come and take me to the
funny farm. I swear to God..."
A: "Oh don't Jacob, I believe you, I do."
J: "Im so glad you do. I'm glad I'm able to finally tell this to you.
Angie, all I want to do is take care of you and love you. The way I know
Jesse loved you."
A: "Oh Jacob, you know you deserve to be loved to the fullest too and I,
Oh God, I want to be that person who gives you that love. But I'm not
there yet. I just have too many things I need to do.
J: "Angie.."
A: "I don't want to come into your life unless it can be with a clean
slate, no guilt, no reservations, for all the right reasons."
J: "Baby.."
She leaves.

Charles is asleep. Lorraine is watching over him and kneels down beside
him.

Tony tells Gwyn and Steffie they picked up Neal Warren at a used car lot.
Gwyn is visibly relieved. Tony picks up on this. She says she's just glad
he's in custody and can't spread the story around. Tony says he doesn't
think it is a story and hands her the baby bracelet. The phone rings
again. Tony asks Steffie if she wants to go and get something to eat. She
says no, she's going to stay awhile. She tells him she's not mad. Tony
gives her a kiss and leaves. Gwyn says it was Kate on the phone. She says
she put the machine on. Steffie wonders why Gwyn doesn't have the locket
around her neck.
S: "You said you were only going to take it off if Trisha... She's here
isn't she?" ....
