LOVING Update for Friday, October 21:

STORYLINE: GOOD BYE, JANIE
           (starting location: Trucker's house)
* Trucker is carrying around some pretzels and he opens up a soda/beer.
Buck enters. Trucker asks if he finished the bike he was working on.
Buck says he did. Buck asks if Dinah Lee is still at the doctor's.
Trucker says she is. Buck asks where Christopher is. Trucker says he
is upstairs with J. J. and Heather. Buck asks if Stacey is also there.
Trucker says she just dropped off the kids and went to do some errands
and that she'll be back soon. Buck offers to go out and get some take
out food for dinner. Trucker asks when he will stop running away from
 his problems.
Stacey enters. While facing away from them, she apologizes for being
late and says she stopped by... She turns around and sees Buck, and
continues, "Jack's...grave." Buck and Stacey say "hi." Stacey says
she is just there to pick up her kids. She hurriedly goes upstairs.
A bit sad, Buck realizes that Stacey must still love Jack to still be
going to his grave "after all this time." Trucker says she still goes
to Trisha's every now and then, and asks if Buck goes to Janie's. Buck
asks why. "I hardly knew her."
* None.
* Buck enters the room. Trucker tells him that the coast is clear --
Stacey is gone. Buck asks, "Can't a guy even take a shower?" Trucker
mentions that he didn't even say "hi" to the kids. Buck says he didn't
know they were leaving so soon and asks what Trucker wants for dinner.
"Don't avoid me too, Buck." He asks again why Buck hasn't gone to see
Janie's grave. "What's the point?" He says it helps him to deal with
what happened, and it would help for him, too. Buck says, "That's for
you. I'm going to get food." Buck says he is handling it his own way.
Trucker says he knows Buck has been dealt some bad hands lately. He
says he wants Buck to go on with his life...with Tess. Buck says Tess
has been a good friend. "And a warm body." Buck asks Trucker to give
him some credit. Buck says that Tess knows it is not forever. Buck
says this isn't about Janie. Trucker says it is -- because when you
are grieving, everything is about what you grieve about. Buck asks
when he became a shrink. Trucker says he just doesn't want Buck to do
anything he'll regret. Buck tells him to butt out and storms out.
[At Janie's grave.]
Buck approaches a simple headstone with "JANIE DAWSON 1975-1994" on it.
[Hey, wasn't Janie's last name either St. Clair or Sinclair?] He puts
 some flowers down.
Buck: "Here are some new ones, Janie. I still don't feel right, coming
here like I have been. Trucker said it helps, but it hasn't so far.
 I couldn't even tell him. I don't know why. I didn't know you. The
little bit I did, I liked you. A lot. But I didn't even know you were
my own daughter. Maybe if I had... God, Janie, you were all alone in
this world. How did you stand it?"
Buck touches the headstone.
* None.

STORYLINE: GOOD BYE, TESS
           (location: Kate's house - kitchen)
* Cooper brings Tyler down the stairs. Stephanie kisses Tyler. Cooper
asks, "What about me?" Stephanie kisses him. Cooper introduces Tyler
to Stephanie and says that she is going to be incorporated into the
every day routine around here. Stephanie asks what is for breakfast.
"Dino-cheese." Cooper goes to the refrigerator and brings back a plate
of grilled cheese sandwiches, cut into dino-shapes. Cooper says that
dino-cheese is the only thing he knows how to cook.
As Cooper and Stephy argue about whether a certain dino-cheese sandwich
is a Stegosaurus or a T-rex, Tess appears in the doorway. Cooper plays
JURASSIC PARK with the sandwich on Tyler's plate for a moment. When he
turns to continue the argument with Stephanie, he sees Tess. She says
she didn't know he would be there tonight and, interrupting Cooper's
explanation of why he is there, she wishes them a good time and starts
 upstairs.
Cooper: "Hey, don't rush out on our account."
Tess: "I don't want to interrupt your little family dinner."
* None.
* Stephanie takes Tyler to play in the living room. Cooper apologizes
to Tess. Tess says it doesn't bother her -- she is surprised that they
are so happy, that they just look like a real family. Cooper says they
wouldn't have been there if they had known she would be back from work
early. Tess says it is a "good sign" that Stephanie is coming over and
meeting Tyler. "Things must be getting serious." Cooper says they are
just trying to get to know each other better. Tess says that when THEY
were getting to know each other better, he didn't have her meet Tyler.
Cooper says, "I *did* care about you, Tess." Tess continues, saying
that he probably didn't want to confuse Tyler if she wasn't going to be
around for very long. "Tess --" "You're a good dad. You did right by
 your son."
Cooper apologizes for how things turned out. Tess tells him not to lose
any sleep over it. She says he got the girl he wanted. "I didn't want
to hurt you." Tess tells him she doesn't want his pity. She says he
is off the hook because she is all right! She has found someone else.
He says, "Buck?" Tess smiles and says, "Yup." He says he hopes that
it will turn out OK. Tess says it will because she wants somebody for
all the right reasons. She goes upstairs.
* Stephanie says that was the best Brontosaurus she ever had. Cooper
says he likes the Velociraptor. Stephanie says that he is *such* a
carnivore. He hops over to her side and starts kissing her, saying,
"Feed me!" Stephanie tries subtly to get him to stop -- it is, after
all, in front of Tyler. "Hee hee hee. What was I doing? Looking for
change or something? Need any more food? Please don't tell mommy
about daddy's behavior tonight." Tyler seems unimpressed. Cooper
bribes Tyler with some cookies, then decides he only needs one. "All
we need is a hyper child. I'm hyper enough." Stephanie asks if
everything is OK with Tess. Cooper says it's fine, they worked out
a little agreement. (They are washing dishes now.) Stephanie says
to not worry about her. Cooper asks what he did to deserve her. She
says she has a list: first, he is a great kisser. She kisses him, as
*he* reminds *her* about the kid. Next, he is being nice to her mom.
Cooper admits that qualifies him as an amazing person. He says she
can't be all bad, since she is responsible for Stephanie. She says
she wasn't all bad -- she took her to the zoo once. They agree that's
not bad for Deborah. Stephanie points out that Cooper does things like
that for Tyler. She says her mom has really been trying hard. Cooper
says he will do everything he can to help out because he wants her to
be as happy as she can be. She says she will, as long as she has him.
They kiss. Luckily for them, Tyler is looking the other direction.
 Cooper shades his eyes anyway.

STORYLINE: GOOD BYE, ALLY?!
           (starting location: unknown restaurant)
* Mike is introducing Casey to some of his friends. They invite them to
go to Chaos (a new club in town) with them. Casey says he has to get
home to "my ball and chain." Over their protests, he starts to leave.
He gets his car keys from Mike, but stops at the door. Mike asks what
is wrong, and Casey says he doesn't think he can drive. Mike is proud
that the coke he gave him is still giving him a buzz. Casey asks Mike
to drive him home (in Casey's car), but that won't work because Mike
wouldn't be able to get back. Mike invites him to have a seat for some
"chill time" with his friends. Casey has a seat.
[At Casey and Ally's house.]
Candlelight. Fine china. A table set for two. Ally is making sure
that everything is perfect. She glances at her watch, then goes to
 the door...
* [At the restaurant.]
The friends are having beer, and offer some to Casey. He doesn't want
any, but some gets poured for him anyway. He pulls Mike off to the
side and asks him if he is dealing. Mike is offended and asks where
he heard that. Casey says a friend told him. Mike says that friend is
wrong. Mike says he is just a friend trying to help a friend. Casey
apologizes and Mike quickly accepts. On their way back to the table,
Casey glances at his watch. He says that Ally might be holding dinner
for him and that he had better go. Mike asks if he is ready to go.
Casey decides to call Ally and tell her that he will be late.
[At Casey and Ally's house.]
"Where *are* you, Casey?" The phone rings. She answers, "Casey?" He
says he and some people from work are brainstorming. (The doorbell
rings. It is Stacey. Ally waves her in.) She says she'll keep dinner
warm. He says he may be very late, and she says she'll wait up. She
tells him, "Don't work too hard." Casey laughs and says he'll try.
They both say they love each other and hang up.
Ally invites Stacey in, but she declines because the kids are in the
car. [Interesting that she got out of Trucker's place without more
conversation with Buck. See above.] She offers to take Tyler off of
Ally's hands for their romantic dinner. Ally says he is with his dad.
Suddenly, the car radio is blasting. Stacey screams to J. J. (who we
never see) to turn it down. He does. Stacey says she dreads when he
becomes a teenager. Ally says she dreads the same for Tyler, and he is
only 2 1/2. Stacey asks if she tried the chicken recipe she gave her.
Ally says she did, and she hopes Casey gets home in time to eat it.
Ally tells her that he is working a lot -- too much, really -- but she
won't complain since she knows it is for her and Tyler. Stacey asks if
she told him that she had a romantic dinner planned. Ally says no, she
wanted to surprise him. Stacey suggests that Ally call him and let him
know. She says that Ally would feel bad if Casey had something special
planned for her and she missed it. Ally decides to call. (While she
does, Stacey calls to the car, "Heather, put your head back in the car!
Don't hang out the window.") Gwyn answers, and Ally asks to speak to
Casey. She scowls. "He left with Mike? When? [Pause.] Oh. No, he
just told me that he was working in the office. [Pause.] Oh. I guess
I just misunderstood." Ally tells Stacey that she is sure there is
 nothing to worry about.
* None.
* The horn is honking. Stacey yells that they are going to their rooms
when they get home. She apologizes to Ally. Ally tells her that she
can go home, but Stacey doesn't want to leave until Casey gets home.
She points out that he lied to her. Ally says she just _assumed_ that
he would be at the office. Ally pieces together that he said he was
"brainstorming" and that he left with Mike. Stacey asks if she thinks
Casey is with "someone else." Ally says no, it's nothing like that.
She says she is sure Casey has a good explanation for this.
Stacey: "You trust him, then?"
Ally: "I trust Casey with all my heart."
[At the restaurant.]
The friends are leaving to go to Chaos. Casey pulls Mike aside and says
that he doesn't want Ally to see him like this. Mike tells him not to
go home for a while. He says he doesn't have a while and asks how long
the effect lasts. "A while." Casey is still upset, though, so Mike
offers him "a little something to bring you down." Casey declines.
Mike points out that Casey has two choices: "You hang with us, or you
go home to Ally with the buzz on." We pan to the pill Mike is holding
 out to Casey.
