Debbie and deb are here to bring you all the late-breaking news from
Corinth.

Clay hears a knock on the door. He says Good, Lenox, you know I like
my coffee with my paper. He opens the door, it's Deborah.

Alex and Charles talk about the stakeout (how nothing happened all
night and how it looks like nothing WILL happen and gee, they really
need us, the overqualified guys to sit here all night). They talk
about family life. Charles says that Frankie is usually out, Angie is
away. Alex agrees. Ava is away? Not out of town, out to lunch, but he
expects her back by Christmas, Alex says.

Meanwhile, in Ava's office, she shows Jeremy a music box, playing a
Christmas carol. He says isn't that a little early? She says the
display department gave her a preview. She says doesn't he like
Christmas? He slams the lid down and says NO.

Ava says she realizes Christmas is overcommercialized, and everyone
gets on everyone else's nerves, and if Alex thinks her schedule is
hectic now, wait until the Christmas season. Jeremy asks if Alex has
trouble with her working long hours. Ava says they had a fight, but
she's handling it. Jeremy calls Christmas a fable. Ava says he is the
most religious man she knows. Jeremy tells her about looking out of
the window and seeing freezing people and listening to carols. Inside,
where he was, was cold, empty, and silent. No trees, no presents,
nothing. Ava thinks maybe he was remembering the Christmas his mother
was ill. How terrible for a child, she says. But, she adds, that was
only one Christmas, there must have been others. Jeremy says the
loneliness stays with you for the rest of your life. Ava tells him he
is not alone; he touches everone's life, everyone touches his. He says
he is alone. Ava wants him to start from the beginning, and to tell
her the truth.

Clay says he was not expecting her. She hopes it is a plesant
surprise. Clay says of course. She tells his she brought breakfast -
for two. What are they celebrating? Clay says. New beginnings, she
says as she kisses him, and new pleasures. Clay kisses her and says
something about the pleasures. Deborah sugegsts they go to the Biastro
if he wants that again...Clay says they cannot do that again, he has
to reamin in control. He promised not to take advantage of her
again. She says he wouldn't be. No, Clay says, he wants to make things
right. When she's in his arms, Deborah coos, everything is right. No,
he says, with Steffi. STEPHANIE! Deborah screams, what does SHE have
to do with us?

Clay says Steffi has nothing and yet everything to do with us. Deborah
wants him to explain. Well, she is Steffi's mom. She made her into a
wonderful young woman, Clay says. Yeah, Deborah says, a women he fell
in love with. Well, Clay says, that is over. He is concerned about any
damage to the mother/daughter relationship. He suggests a surprise
party. Deborah says that Steffi hates parties. Maybe, Clay says, if
Cooper was involved... Deborah says AHA! This has to do with CLAY! He
wants Deborah to get buddy buddy with Cooper so HE can get back into
AE.

Alex unloads on Charles. He says he is home a lot, cooking, taking
care of the kids, thank goodness for a great mother-in-law. He is
proud of Ava's work, but he wishes that she'd take more responsibility
at home. He likes pizza every other night, but really! Alex says Cabot
was smart to unload Brunell's. If Jeremy didn't pump money into it,
it would be out of business now. That's the problem, Alex says,
Jeremy. Charles wants details, but Alex doesn't want to taklk about
it, in fact, he wants to storm the place they're staking out. Charles
changes the subject to the Eagles...but Alex replies that he's
sneaky. WHAT? Charles says. Alex says Jeremy is helping too much. Alex
says Jeremy seems too interested in Brunell's...and Ava. Charles says
that Jeremy is not the kind of person that takes another man's
wife. Alex says Jeremy is pushing Ava's buttons. Big business, money,
adventure. Those things get Ava excited, and Jeremy is making it seem
like Alex can't give her those things. Charles advocates patience.
Nothing has happened, nothing WILL happen.

Ava tells Jeremy he has not been alone. Maybe they were not meant to
be together forever, but there were other women, and there is
Gwyneth. No, Jeremy says, they called a time out. He may not be alone,
Jeremy says, but he feels alone. Jeremy asks her to forget who he is
and look him in the eyes and beleive that he has not met the woman for
him.

Clay tells Deborah that he will not deny that he wants to be back at
AE (kiss kiss). Deborah says she knew it. Clay says that that's part
of it (kiss kiss). What's the other part? (kiss kiss) He wants her and
Steffi to be friends. Deborah says (kiss kiss) so they can be
together? Yeah, Clay says, without guilt (kiss kiss kiss kiss
kiss). He wants them to have a chance, but how can they, if they're on
the outs with their family (kiss kiss kiss)? Deborah agrees to talk to
Cooper about a party....kiss...this morning...kiss...soon....kiss.

Charles comes back with coffee. Hope it's large...and COLD, Alex
says. Where is the replacement? Alex asks. They're on the way. Charles
syas. ARE THEY WALKING? Alex says. They get a radio call and are
dismissed. Charles acknowledges the call and Alex gets out. He's going
to Brunell's. Charles tell shim he's tired, he should only be goign
home. Alex is gonna tell Ava he loves her and can't live without
her. And she's gonna listen, even he has to sing in Italian. Charles
says make sure that's ALL you tell her.

Ava leads Jeremy to a display (he's blindfolded). She tells him that
the angel on the top of the tree grants wishes. He says he thought
Santa Claus did that. She says sometimes Santa needs help. She tells
him that if he wishes hard enough his wish will come true. She tells
him she wishes that Brunell's has a wonderful Christmas season, and
she knows that the angel will grant his wish, and he'll find his
special someone. Jeremy says she sounds so sure. She says she's sure
that he'll be holding her in his arms soon. Jeremy says thanks. She
asks if he beleives in Christmas now. he says how could he not? He
looks up and sees the mistletoe he is standing under and then he looks
at Ava. She looks uncomfortable as Jeremy moves closer.
