LOVING Update for Friday, September 1:

STORYLINE: MORE PARTY FUN
 (starting location: Wilder ad agency)
* Stephanie tells Tess that she is a pathetic excuse for a human being.
Tess warns Stephy not to push her because she'll push back. Stephy
says that if she tells everyone about Cooper, she'll tell them about
her being the stalker, and "let's see who looks worse."
Danny tells Ally that she's "good enough to eat." Ally asks if that is
a compliment. He says he just likes the imagery. She asks him how
much he has had to drink. He says not enough that he can't appreciate
a beautiful woman, and asks what she is doing after the party. Jocelyn
comes up to Danny and asks to speak to him *now*.
Charles asks Lorraine, "What do you mean, Bree doesn't know?" Lorraine
insists there is no secret and asks Charles to stop badgering her. He
apologizes, but he wants to know what happened 20 years ago. She says
absolutely nothing happened. Jacob enters and interrupts, asking if
he is still trying to get her to admit she knew him in high school.
Neither of them answers. Jacob asks what is going on.
* Lorraine says they were just chatting. Jacob says that Charles is
first, and foremost, a cop. Lorraine says that Charles was being a
perfect gentleman. Lorraine leaves. Jacob asks Charles to take it
easy on Lorraine; she already has her hands full. Charles thanks him
for "the lesson in the social graces." Angie enters and gives Charles
a hard time for going to get her a drink and never returning. He asks
her what she wanted again. White wine. He asks Jacob if he wants
anything. No thanks. Charles leaves. Jacob congratulates Angie on
Frank's award, and says he'll have a great future in the film business.
Angie tells him to bite his tongue; she doesn't want him going to
Hollywood. Jacob says he'd have a lot of stories to tell: hers, his,
Jesse's... She tells him not to get carried away. "You know me.
Sometimes, I just can't help myself."
Jocelyn asks Danny what he thinks he's doing -- why is he talking to
Ally, who blames him for the death of her husband? He says maybe she
thinks he is irresistible. No, maybe she has something else in mind.
"Like what?" "I don't know, but that's what I'm going to find out."
Stephanie gets everyone's attention; the music goes down. She reminds
everyone that she was the victim of a stalker, but she wants to tell
everyone about Tess' role in that incident. Tess interrupts, saying
that *anyone* would have stood by Stephanie like she did... Also,
says Tess, she's sure that everyone remembers Casey Bowman, but she
just found out that Allison, his wife, is an accomplished photographer
in her own right, and she is going to sign her to an exclusive contract
with the agency. Applause. "You *are* finished, aren't you, Stephy?"
She says she is, and let's hear it for Ally. More applause. Stephy
tells Tess that she had better follow through on that, or she will make
 her announcement to the police.
Jocelyn asks Tess what made her hire Ally. She says she has seen her
work, and it is good. She asks if Tess plans to use her with Danny.
Probably. Jocelyn asks a personal favor that she not. Tess asks what
the problem is. Jocelyn says that *is* the problem.
Ally asks Stephanie if she had anything to do with Tess making that
announcement. No, just that she showed Tess some of her work...and
there were a few threats involved. "Thank you for being my friend."
Stephy says that, as her friend, she has a suggestion: stop talking to
Danny. Ally says he's drunk and following her around. Stephy suggests
to Ally that she get Alex involved. Ally says she just wants to "do
 the pedestrians of Corinth a favor and call him a cab."  Stephy leaves;
Tess enters. Tess asks how it feels to be a "working girl." Ally says
it feels great, and that she'll do the best job she can. Tess says she
had better; she has to live up to Casey's good work. Ally assures Tess
that she *will* finish what he started.
Lorraine goes up to the bartender and asks for a gin and tonic. Bree
asks what she thinks she's doing. She says it's hot in here. When the
bartender hands her the drink, Bree grabs it and says she has changed
her mind. She pulls Lorraine away from the bar. "Are you crazy? Are
you trying to kill yourself?" Lorraine starts crying and says that
she is getting nervous with all the people there. Bree asks if it has
anything to do with Charles; she saw him talking to her. Lorraine says
he always wants to talk about high school. Bree asks why she pretended
not to know him. Lorraine says she has to go home now. Bree says no,
she lied to her -- "you dated him." "Who told you that?" "He did."
Lorraine says she *has* to go now, and practically runs her over to get
to the door. Bree follows her out.
* Danny congratulates Ally, and suggests that maybe they could work
together sometime: "Bad boy turns good." Ally says that "bad" is "in"
these days. He says he is trying to change his image. "Why? I like
a man who lives on the edge." He thinks she is putting him on. She
tells him to look below the surface. She walks away.
Angie apologizes to Jacob for running out of his apartment the other
day. She says she knows it wasn't easy for him to bare his soul to her
like that. He says he just wanted to let her know that he is flesh and
blood just like everyone else. She thanks him for what he has done for
Lorraine. He can't believe she actually complimented him. She tells
him not to push his luck -- what she is trying to say is that she hopes
they can be friends. He says that's good, and just because they are
friends, he won't ask her why she ran out.
Lorraine tells Bree that she *has* to let her be. No, not until she
tells her about Charles. Lorraine says those memories are painful.
"Mama, did you sleep with him?" "Yes, baby." "It's *him*, isn't it?
He's the one?" Lorraine says she didn't expect himi to be Frankie's
father. No, says Bree, he's *nobody's* father -- not since he walked
out on them. Lorraine says that's not how it was; Charles did not know
about her. Bree asks why. She didn't tell him; she couldn't. She
says she was in love with him, he was the star athlete and all these
colleges wanted him... "But what about your life? What about mine?
It's all gone because of him." Lorraine suggests that they go home.
No, says Bree, she wants to say hello to her father. Lorraine says she
should never have said anything. Bree says it's her problem now.
Lorraine says she can't take this and walks out of the storage closet.
Bree follows her out and stands in the doorway, trying to figure out
 what to do.
* Ally goes over to Danny, inviting him to "blow this party and go back
to my place and have one of our own." Danny says he's up for that.
Ally asks for his car keys; Danny gives them to her. She tells him to
meet her downstairs in five minutes, and tell Jocelyn that she called
him a cab. She leaves. Danny starts out, but Jocelyn intercepts him.
He tells her the cab story, hands her his drink, and walks off. Tess
walks up and tells her that Danny is a big boy and can take care of
himself. Yes, says Jocelyn, but she always has to bail him out!
Charles comes up to Angie and Jacob. Angie says she was about to call
the cops to look for him. He says he had to check in with the station.
Bree walks up and gives him a slap in the face. "That's for you, daddy
dear!" Bree storms off. Charles is baffled.
[At Ally's house.]
She starts to open the door, but Danny pushes it closed. "I want you,
Ally." "I want you, too." She manages to get the door open. Once
they are inside, he pushes it closed, then pushes her against it. "You
drive me wild." He kisses her. She pulls him toward the middle of the
room and says, "Make love to me." They fall to the floor. He starts
to undress as he lays on top of her.

STORYLINE: DON'T SIT UNDER THE APPLE TREE
 (location: Alden Mansion)
* Cabot is sitting alone, in his bedroom. Isabelle enters and shows him
the candles someone sent them, along with the card which says that they
should use them for their anniversary party; they'll bring them good
luck. Cabot says it's a little too late for that. Isabelle says she
doesn't know who sent them; she'll talk to Lenox in the morning. Cabot
apologizes for ruining the party; he says a stranger took up residence
in his brain. Isabelle says that's OK; the only person she wanted to
be with tonight was him. They smile at each other. Cabot asks what he
did to deserve her. Isabelle says that it was just that he was being
 himself.
* Isabelle lights two of the candles, saying that Trisha always loved
 candles.  Cabot says he's glad she isn't here to see what has happened;
her father, brother and best friend all killed, as if someone has put a
curse on the family. "Don't talk like that. Just put your arms around
me." She gets in the bed with him. Cabot says he feels so helpless --
a dottering old fool, just waiting to be put out to pasture. Isabelle
tells him not to say that. "There's not a dottering bone in your
body." She says she'd rather be in his arms than any other man she can
think of. "What about Cary Grant?" She laughs. "You'll never let me
live that down, will you?" She says he will always be her leading man.
He asks where the time has gone; it seems like only yesterday that he
saw her for the first time. He went home that night just floating on
air. She says he was very handsome; when she first saw him, she said
to herself that he was the man she was going to marry, and she never
had any doubts. Cabot says, "You always had the most contagious smile.
You still do." He asks her what that song was. They begin singing:
"Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me, anyone else
but me, anyone else but me, no, no, no. Don't sit under the apple
tree with anyone else but me, 'til I come marching home."
* Isabelle says this has all seemed like a dream. They were so happy
when the children were babies, but now it's so unfair: why didn't God
take her instead of Clay and Curtis, because she has already lived the
most wonderful life that any woman could possibly live, she has the
love of a wonderful man who adores her. But they were just starting
out and they had everything to look forward to. It's just not fair...
* "I'm sorry, Cabot. Will you forgive me?" "Nothing to forgive. I
feel the same way." "Oh, Darling, no woman has ever felt more loved
than I." "I still love you, Isabelle." He kisses her. He lays down,
saying that he is so tired. She asks him to keep his arms around her.
She says, "Good night. Good night, love." "Good night, love." She
kisses him. She says the jasmine scent from the candle is so peaceful.
 They both fall asleep.
[Later.]
We hear "Itsy-Bitsy Spider," and the picture turns to black-and-white.
We pan past Cabot and Isabelle to one of the candles. We see a photo
fragment which had been inside the candle wax.
