Subject: LOV: Double Update -- September 13 and 16
Status: R

First, a bonus (to bail Cari out)... :-)

LOVING Mini-Update for Tuesday, September 13:

CLAY'S HOTEL ROOM (?)
Stephanie is trying to seduce Clay in the middle of the day, but he is
too busy trying to do some business with some people who "owe" him. She
says that maybe Cabot will, someday, forgive him. He says that there is
very little chance of that.

ALDEN MANSION
Ava, alone in the main room of the mansion, toasts Cabot's portrait.
Cooper enters and asks if she has talked Cabot into giving her 49% of
the mansion.

POLICE STATION
Jeremy enters the police station. He looks like an absolute mess.
He asks Alex and Charles for help! He falls down.

He says something about a warehouse, then he falls unconscious. They
discover that he is bleeding. Alex calls for a paramedic. Of course,
Alex knows what warehouse he is talking about and sends Charles there.

ALDEN MANSION
Ava informs Cooper (who has just returned from "clearing his head" in
New York) that Kate turned Cabot down. Cooper says Kate has character.
Ava says she asked Cabot for Burnell's and he is bringing the papers.
Cooper asks if she is ready for the challenges of ownership. Ava says
money makes things easier, not harder -- she could hire someone to take
care of her family. Cooper points out that is the way he was raised,
and he always missed his parents. Cooper says that Kate has taught him
something -- that it isn't always money that is important. [Cabot and
Isabelle begin listening above, unseen.] Ava tells Cooper that he is
and always has been rich. Cooper says maybe so, but he has never had
anyone to love. Ava asks about Stephy, and Cooper says she is now with
Clay. He says he is going to get a new start on his life. Cabot and
Isabelle enter. Cabot gives her the title papers. Ava vows to make
Burnell's the best store in town. Isabelle says she hopes Ava doesn't
regret this decision. Ava says she won't and leaves to celebrate with
Alex. Cabot and Isabelle tell Cooper how proud they are that Cooper
feels the way he does about money. They tell him they have come to a
decision...

CLAY'S HOTEL ROOM (?)
Stephanie is still hanging on Clay while he is trying to do work. He
asks if she thinks love makes the world go around. He moans about Cabot
throwing him out and Cooper "selling him out." "Money calls the shots
every time." Stephanie asks how bad off he is, financially. He says he
has a little money he grabbed, and she is half-owner of a *diner* which
hasn't shown a profit "since the turn of the century." He asks her why
she hasn't left yet. She offers to call and get a modeling job, but he
*won't* have a woman support him -- even in the '90s. He tells her to
be patient, and when he returns tonight, she'll have his full attention.
He leaves to go to the University Club to see and be seen. She offers
to join him, but he turns her down, saying she can't help. He leaves.
"I *can't*? Huh? Well, we'll just see about that." She picks up the
phone...

ALDEN MANSION
Cabot says he has done a great deal of thinking since he threw Clay
out of the house and the company. Cooper thinks they are mad at him
for leaving town, but they assure him they aren't. Cabot says they have
decided to give him control of AE. "No way." Cabot says they have to
have someone there they can trust, and Isabelle says that Cabot can't
handle the stress any more. [No kidding, the man has already died!]
She says that she and Cabot have been given a second chance at life,
and they intend to enjoy it fully. Cabot says that for that, they need
to know that AE is in good hands. Cooper thinks that they're playing
a joke on him. He says he knows nothing about running a business.
Cabot says he will take him on as a "surrogate" and teach him everything
he knows. Cooper says this "isn't me" and he doesn't know how he'll do.
Cabot says there is only one way to find out. Cooper says it *can't* be
that easy. Cabot pulls Isabelle to him and says he can do it, if there
is someone he loves by his side. She says that anything is possible for
two. Cabot says that the first order of business is for him to "go and
find Stephy. It's time you two had a talk."

CLAY'S HOTEL ROOM (?)
Stephy opens the door, and Wendell Barnes is at the door. Stephy is
dressed very nicely (a designer cocktail dress?). She says she has
never done anything like this, and that Clay doesn't know. He says he
was glad to hear from her. She wants to try to talk to him about the
Board's decision to remove Clay. Wendell pushes, though, saying that
Clay is on the way down, but she doesn't "have to make the trip with
him." He is advancing on her, and she says there must have been a
misunderstanding. Wendell says she won't be sorry she called him.
She says she loves Clay and wants to help him. Wendell stops. "Oh.
I see. What was the reason for the call?" She asks him for the favor
of putting in a good word about Clay to the Board. He says he doesn't
have a problem with that, but that business runs on *deals*, not on
*favors* and asks what she is going to do for him in return.

HOSPITAL LOBBY
Ava enters and asks Alex about Jeremy. He says he took a blow to the
head. He is still in surgery. Gwyneth says he may have done this to
himself: he injured his head the other night.

ELSEWHERE IN THE HOSPITAL
Curtis asks the nurse on duty to page the doctor; she says she just did.
He asks her to do it again, and she agrees to. He walks away. Gilbert
grabs him and pulls him aside, and puts his hand over Curtis' mouth.

* "Not a sound, OK?" He tells Curtis to "throw a fit -- tear the place
apart." Curtis asks why and Gilbert says he'll tell everybody about
Curtis' involvement in the plane crash unless he convinces everybody
that the Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome has kicked in. He says, "Don't
disappoint me" and leaves. Curtis ponders this for a moment, then walks
over to a rack of dinner trays, grabs one and starts slamming the rack,
screaming "keep them away from me!!!" repeatedly. Gwyneth, Alex and Ava
all enter, but nobody seems to know what to do...

CLAY'S HOTEL ROOM (?)
Stephy tells Wendell that he had better leave. "I take it this will be
our secret." She agrees. He says, "If you change your mind --" She
says she won't. Wendell, now at the door, tells her that Clay "reaks
of flop sweat." [Huh?!] "Don't stick too close for too long." He
leaves, but leaves the door open. Stephy asks herself what she was
thinking. Cooper enters the open door, unnoticed. Stephy continues,
"Why did he have to say that to me? I hate him. I never want to see
that man again." Cooper asks what he pulled this time. "Nothing!"
She is crying. He asks if she is OK. No answer. He says he is going
to get her out of this right now -- get her away from Clay. Outside,
we see Clay approaching the door. He gets his key out...

WAREHOUSE
Charles and an officer are looking for clues about what happened to
Jeremy. They find nothing. No signs of a struggle, no blood. Charles
says he wonders why it was so important to Jeremy that he get the name
of this warehouse out. They figure they'll find out when he wakes up.
They leave.

HOSPITAL
Gilbert enters Jeremy's room. He locks the door and turns the blinds.
He takes a pillow out of the closet and approaches Jeremy's face......

LOVING Mini-Update for Friday, September 16:

NOTE: I lost about the first four minutes of the show because of the
"electrical fire" at the White House.

STORYLINE: TESS PLAYS WITH STEPHY'S MIND
           (location: Ad office)
* [...]  Cooper and Stephanie are talking, awkwardly.  Cooper leaves;
 Stephy looks sad.
Tess tells Frankie that he has to find out every detail about "this."
Frankie agrees to do so and leaves.
Stephanie walks up to Tess. She says she didn't realize that she had
broken up with Cooper. "You didn't? Well, that's strange, since
 you're the reason."
* Stephanie says she and Cooper have always been just friends. Tess
says it is obvious that he's "got it bad" for her. Tess says she
thinks it is a one-way street; she has Clay. No reaction, so Tess
realizes she might be wrong. "Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you *are*
interested in him. Are you?" Stephanie ponders this question...
* She says that the two of them are hardly speaking. Tess challenges
her to say she isn't interested in Cooper. "I'm with Clay!" Tess
changes tactics -- she says Ally is the problem and that, since she
is the mother of his child, he'll never love anyone else. Stephanie
appears to be a bit disappointed. Tess says even so, Cooper isn't
opposed to having some fun. Stephy asks if that's what she is -- a
little fun. Tess says, "Come on, you're gorgeous, you're giving.
You're every man's fantasy." Tess says guys like giving women, until
a certain point -- commitment. She says she wants a man who can give
a commitment, not one who is still "playing with toys." To continue
to play with Stephy's mind, Tess asks if she has put on a few pounds.
Stephanie looks surprised. Tess says it looks good on her, and she
will asks Casey to be careful with the camera angles. Tess leaves.
* Tess tells Frankie that he did a good job. Frankie leaves, while
 Tess watches:
Stephanie is telling a seamstress that her dress is too tight. The
seamstress says the designer likes the dresses tight. She says that
she looks great and will land them the account.

STORYLINE: CASEY IN TROUBLE
           (location: Ad office)
* [Missed?]
* The other photographer tells Casey that he looks "wiped." He says he
feels wiped, too. Other guy asks if he took the "gift" he gave him.
 Casey just stares at him.
Ally, holding Tyler, goes to Cooper and says, "let's go." He asks what
about lunch with Casey. She says it was a really bad idea. He asks
what's up. "Do you *know* what he said to me?" Someone named Lisa
approaches and coos over Tyler. Ally asks her to take him for five
minutes and she gladly does so. Lisa and Tyler leave.
"'Get the kid *out* of here!'" Ally is insulted that he just thinks of
Tyler as "the kid." Cooper asks if she isn't overreacting -- he is
busy. She says that's no excuse. He says besides, Tyler *is* a kid.
Ally says he doesn't know how Casey said it. Cooper suggests that she
"give him a little space." He says they both know that Casey loves
Tyler. Ally asks what she is supposed to do now. Cooper suggests
that she go back and give her husband some lunch, he'll be all right.
She says she does worry about Casey. Cooper says he's just working.
The other photographer walks by. Cooper recognizes him, but he can't
place him. Ally leaves to "do what you told me to do." Cooper asks
someone else who walks by where Frankie Hubbard is. "Research."
* Ally taps Casey on the back. They spend about ten minutes apologizing
to each other. Casey commits to doing something with her tonight.
Ally says that they spend too much time apologizing to each other. :-)
They walk away in an embrace.
Cooper asks the photographer if they have met before. He avoids the
question, saying he's sure they haven't. He leaves hurriedly.
Cooper sees Frankie and asks who the photographer is. He says it is
Mike, and he works with Casey, and that's all he knows. Frankie asks
if Cooper knows him. He says he does, but he is "clueless" from where.
Cooper says he does know Mike is bad news, though...
* Casey commits to dinner at home with Ally. Ally promises to have it
ready when he gets there. Ally, Tyler and Cooper leave.
Mike is testing the lights for the shoot. Casey gives him the "gift"
back. He says the only reason he took them before is because he was
working too hard. Mike says he doesn't need to explain himself.
Casey, almost apologetically, says he won't need any more. Mike says
he understands. "No sweat, right?" Mike leaves. Casey looks to be
unsure whether he did the right thing...

STORYLINE: BROTHER, CAN YOU SPARE $200 THOUSAND?
           (starting location: Ava's office)
* None. [Apparently missed something during the Special Report.]
* "You have nothing, you am [sic] nothing, you're worthless. So what's
your problem?" Alex is chiding Ava. Ava says she'd tell him, but he
said he wanted nothing to do with it. Alex surmises that her problem
has something to do with Burnell's. Ava asks why he came there -- she
isn't in the mood for him "spitting fire" like he did when she told him
that Cabot had given her the store. He says he spat fire because she
lied to him. "Alex, that is true." She says she lied because she knew
how much he didn't want her to have the store. "And I was wrong." He
says she didn't see the other side of the facts: that she had put her
heart and soul in the store. Alex says she bit off more than she could
chew. "Thank you. Very brilliant of me, wasn't it?" Alex says that
she is right, though -- if anyone deserves Burnell's, she does. They
say they love each other and kiss. Ava says now if they could only
get rid of their money problems... Alex pulls out some bills and asks
how much she needs. "Oh, about a couple hundred thousand." Ava says
that Deborah really messed things up, and the Christmas orders are
arriving and she doesn't have a dime to pay for them. Alex tells her
that she is the best asset Burnell's has. Ava is still frustrated.
Alex says she needs a break. Ava asks if that means a trip to the
Caribbean? Alex says no, more like a trip to the hospital to visit
Curtis. "I'm in." She slams down her paperwork. Alex says that they
can get a root beer float later. It doesn't help cheer her up. Alex
tells her that she *won't* lose Burnell's. That helps a bit -- Ava
smiles and says, "come on, let's go." They leave.
* None.
* [At the hospital.]
Ava gets off the elevator and sees Gilbert. She asks if he should be up
and around. He says he is fine...but he can tell that she's not. Ava
tells her about asking Cabot for the store, and a little bit about the
problems with the store. "The red [ink] is so thick I'm swimming in
it." "So sorry." "You win some, you lose some." He asks how much she
needs, and she tells him $200K. "Ah. It's yours." Ava says she could
never borrow that kind of money. He says it isn't a loan, it is an
investment. Ava tells him it is very risky. Gilbert says he loves to
take chances. "Besides, I'm pretty sure my investment will profit.
You see, I'm not only investing in Burnell's, I'm investing in you!"

STORYLINE: EXACTLY *WHO* IS CRAZY HERE?
           (location: Hospital)
* Curtis is telling Gwyneth and Clay that he doesn't need to be in the
hospital. They aren't buying it; they saw his actions the other day
(which, of course, were only a cover for Gilbert). Gilbert enters.
Curtis asks him to tell them that he doesn't need to be there. Gilbert
says he *does* need to be there. [Nice guy.] Curtis tells "Jeremy"
that they will let him go if he tells them the *truth* about his "fit"
and about his "so-called attack" on "Jeremy." "So-called?" "Damn it,
 Jeremy! Tell them the truth!"
* "You want me to tell the truth? Fine. I will." Gilbert says that
the crash triggered memories of his episode with Dante. Clay asks if
that triggered his Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome. Gwyneth asks why
he stopped his therapy. Gilbert says that at least he went to someone
for help. Clay asks why he turned to Jeremy for help. Gwyneth defends
Jeremy's tendency to help people to Clay. Gilbert says that something
bad happened, though: Curtis thought he was Dante. Gwyneth apologizes
to Gilbert. Clay says that what he did was dangerous and that if he
needed help, he should have seen a professional. Gwyneth asks Clay how
he can get on Jeremy's case, but Gilbert says no, Clay is right. Gwyn
says he put his life on the line, Clay says it wouldn't have happened
if he had stayed out of it. Angrily, he leaves to find a psychiatrist
 for Curtis. Gwyneth follows.
Gilbert asks if Curtis is going to thank him for the "brilliant cover."
"If they only knew..." "Knew what?" "That you're the crazy one here,
 not me!"
* None.
* Curtis says that it is weird that after Jeremy was admitted to the
hospital, he sees him wandering the halls, then -- no greeting -- just
"pitch a fit, Curtis. You owe me." "You *do* owe me." Curtis did
so, only to find out that it would turn out to be his second faux
breakdown of the day, the first being the one that landed Gilbert in
there, unconscious. "Who *are* you?" Gilbert says he has saved him
more than once. "No, you try to control me, and it scares me." "Oh.
Poor Curtis." Curtis says he is through being his puppet. Gilbert
asks where he thinks he is going. Curtis says he can't keep him in
there. Gilbert says he can: "you *are* my puppet, and you're going to
continue to be my puppet for as long as I like." "No!" Remember, you
bared your soul to me. I know everything you've done. Your crimes,
your sins, your sick desires. I won't hesitate to use them if you do
one thing against me or fail to do what I ask." We see a shot of an
astonished Curtis. "...and you're right. I'm not the person you
thought I was. And you're not the sweet little Curtis I thought you
were." He accuses Curtis of murdering people with a plane crash.
Curtis denies that he killed anyone. Gilbert says everyone has their
agendas, and everyone covers their tracks. "Accept it. Live with it.
And *don't* cross me. EVER!" Gilbert leaves. Curtis is trying to
figure out what the heck just happened...
* [In the waiting area.]
Clay and Gwyn are waiting. A psychiatrist enters, saying that he sees
no other signs of trouble with Curtis, so he has OK'd his release, but
he wants to continue to see him on an outpatient basis. "Absolutely."
The psychiatrist leaves. Clay asks Gwyneth to "tell your boyfriend to
stop playing therapist." "He was trying to help, Clay." Clay says he
could have driven him crazy. "Oh, please." Gwyn thinks he is mad at
her for not helping him get back into Cabot's good graces. He says
he will win his own way back. She asks if Deborah will be with him,
"storming" the Alden castle. He says he is back with Stephy. Gwyn
says he sure switches around a lot. Clay says she *knows* "damn well"
that Deborah blackmailed him into marrying her, or he never would have
left Stephy. "Clayton, your loyalty is an inspiration." Clay says
that old lovers finding their way back to each other happens all the
 time...
[In Curtis' room.]
Curtis is pacing around. Alex opens the door, startling Curtis. Alex
sees that reaction and offers to leave. "No, no. I need to talk to
someone. Someone that can help me!"
