Hey, I'll actually start doing *every* Thursday instead of every other
week now! Aren't you PSYCHED?!?! :-) Anyway, here we go!

LOVING Update for Thursday, August 31, 1995

It's big party day in Corinth! Of course, we had to go to everyone's
place of residence to get ready for said party, so the beginning jumped
around a bit:

PARTY #1: The Agency

ANGIE'S
=======
Angie, Charles and Frankie are getting ready for the party at the agency.
Angie flashes back to yesterday's conversation with Jacob, of him
asking her what it is that she wants. She looks longingly at the phone,
just as Charles says it's time to get going. He calls for Frankie, who
comes running down, then goes back upstairs to get the sweatshirt
he got for Bree that she forgot. Angie is glad to see Frankie, and glad
that Charles could take some time off from the case to go to the party.
Charles says that the case isn't going anywhere, so he might as well
clear his head. Angie says Tess' party should do that. Charles wonders
if Lorraine will be there.

Angie says Lorraine will probably be there, why? Charles says he's
concerned after what happened at the party, and wonders how she's
doing. Angie says she was concerned, too, and stopped by to see
her yesterday. Charles asks how she was, and Angie says all right,
considering. Considering what, Charles wonders, and Angie tells
him about Lorraine's slip off the wagon. Charles asks if she said
anything about him? Angie tells him to leave it alone, Lorraine is upset
and embarrassed enough as it is. Charles asks why she ran out of the
party, and Angie says she didn't want to talk about it. Charles says
they must have talked about something, she was with her long enough.
"Why do you say that?" Angie asks, and Charles says she must have
been with her all day, since he tried to call her all day and she didn't
answer her pager. He assumed she was with Lorraine. Frankie comes
down just then with the sweatshirt. Charles asks if they're supposed to
pick up Bree, and Frankie says no, Jacob is bringing Bree and her mom.
They leave; Angie lags behind, looking thoughtful.

LORRAINE'S
==========
Bree and Lorraine are waiting for Jacob to leave for the party. Bree
asks again why seeing Charles got her so upset, just as Jacob walks
in. He says he'd like to know that, too. Lorraine says come on in,
join the inquisition. She says she's upset with Charles because he's
a cop, and the other day she robbed a bank. "Shall we go now?"

AGENCY
======
Tess is talking to Jocelyn at a cocktail party that Tess is throwing for
the press, nominally to introduce Danny, but mainly to get publicity
for the agency. Jocelyn pretends to be shocked. Tess says hey, how
many models get a party thrown for them after one commercial? None,
so don't feel too bad for him. Tess mentions that there wouldn't be a
party if Frankie hadn't won that high school video competition, so the
party is really for him, too. Jocelyn makes a sarcastic remark about
throwing a party for a high school achievement award. Tess says she
happens to have a very maternal side. Jocelyn tells her to save her
jokes for the party. Tess says it will be anything but dull.

Danny is having a drink, and Steffi and Ally come in. Ally says she
isn't sure she should be here. Steffi says get used to it, she'll be
working here soon. Ally isn't sure that's such a great idea, either.
Steffi says that Tess needs a photographer, and she thinks Ally is a
great photographer. Ally says that working with Tess isn't the
problem; working with Danny Roberts is. Steffi says don't worry,
he won't bother her, and gives Ally a hug. Ally smiles at Danny over
Steffi's shoulder, and gives him a little wave. Danny raises his glass
to Ally. Jocelyn comes over, and tells Danny that he's had enough
to drink, and that he should stop eyeing Ally before he burns holes in
her. Danny says she eyed him first. Danny tells Jocelyn to lighten
up, and hands her his drink (bourbon with a splash of water). He
walks away, grabbing a glass of champagne off a passing waiter's
tray.

Jacob and Lorraine arrive with Bree. Tess tells Lorraine she should
be very proud of Bree, and Lorraine says she is. Tess says Lorraine
could have been a model herself. Lorraine says she was. "Really?"
Tess says, and Lorraine says yes, a model mama, right Bree? Bree
and Tess don't know quite what to say. Lorraine walks away, and
Jacob follows, saying he'll talk to Lorraine. They blow past Charles
on their way out. Charles looks thoughtful.

Lorraine is sitting at the bar with a beverage. Jacob comes up and
asks what's going on? Lorraine says it's soda, and she's fine. Jacob
says she hasn't been fine since the birthday party. Lorraine says now
that Bree is old, maybe she is feeling old, too. Jacob says she can do
better than that. Lorraine says since when do I have to explain myself
to you? She quickly apologizes. Jacob says talk to me, I'm a friend,
a little more than that last time I checked. Lorraine says then be a friend
and don't ask so many questions.

Tess gets everyone's attention. First of all, she wants to introduce the
Wilder Agency's hot new models from NYC, Tracy Miller and Lee
Francis, and of course their "resident bad boy" Danny Roberts. Danny
bows to the crowd, as Ally eyes him. Tess also introduces Frankie,
whose work behind the camera has paid off, the winner of the all-
state high school video competition, and future star of NYU Film
School, Frank Hubbard. Frankie says his video wouldn't have won
anything without the beautiful and talented woman who starred in it,
Brianna Hawkins. Bree smiles nervously. Frankie thanks the crowd.
Tess has one more "major" announcement. Many of them know, she
says, that Steffi Brewster has been a large part of the agency's success.
(Ally mumbles to Steffi that she didn't know Steffi was a part of this;
Steffi says she didn't either.) Tess says they may have wondered why
Steffi hasn't been featured in much of their work lately. It's because
Steffi has been working on a project of her own lately (Steffi mutters
"she wouldn't dare"), but now in a fortunate twist of fate, her little project
and theirs have come together; the agency has a new client, Jean Harvey
Maternity clothing, and their own future mom-to-be, Steffi, will be the
model for the entire line. Everyone applauds. Steffi acts gracious, but
is obviously *extremely* pissed at Tess for this little announcement.
Steffi thanks Tess, and says she has an announcement of her own
concerning her "wonderful, generous" boss; "you see, I'm not the only
one with a secret," Steffi says. Tess looks concerned.

Lorraine is sitting alone, and Charles comes up. He says he thinks they
need to talk.

Tess tries to talk over Steffi, saying she's sure what she has to say is
very sweet, but it's her night and the models', and she's sure what
Steffi has to say can wait. Steffi says that none of this would have
been possible without you. That's it, says Tess, drink up! The
music starts up again. Tess pulls Steffi aside and says that if she
tells one living soul that Tess was the stalker, she'll regret it. Steffi
says you told people my secret, I'll tell them yours. Tess says she
means it; she hasn't even begun. She hasn't told everyone that the
father of her child dumped her for some French chippie; maybe
Richard Wilkins would like that for an exclusive? Don't threaten
me, Steffi, you're not even in my league, Tess says. Steffi looks
shaken, as Tess walks away. Danny and Ally are watching this
conversation, and Danny says he has a feeling they just missed the
fireworks. Ally says she wouldn't worry about it, the night's still
young.

Lorraine tells Charles that now isn't the time, she isn't feeling very
well. Charles says that excuse is getting old. Fine, Lorraine says,
she guesses it's her night for the third degree. Charles says listen,
he's been talking to Bree, and he knows the past has been bad for
her. Lorraine doesn't want him talking to Bree, she knows nothing
about this. Charles asks what she's talking about? What happened,
why did she just disappear? Lorraine starts to cry; Bree is lurking
behind them, listening. (Curbhanger; if anyone is puzzled by this
one, they haven't been watching soaps long enough!!! :-))

PARTY #2: The Alden's

MASTER'S
========
Ava and Alex are getting ready, Ava chiding Alex to hurry or they'll
be late for dinner. Alex says he should be at the station. Ava says
she isn't into the idea of a party either, but it's for Cabot and Isabelle.
Alex says he loves them too, but he had a run-in with Gwyn at the
station, and he doesn't feel like running into her. Ava says he's had
run-ins with Gwyn before, and hasn't felt the need to hide from her.
Alex says he isn't hiding from her, but he wants to avoid an un-
comfortable situation, can't she understand? Ava says of course she
can. Alex says good. Ava says "so why don't you tell me why you
really don't want to go?"

Alex asks if she sees ulterior motives in everything? Ava says only
when there is one. Alex asks what his is. Trisha is now the prime
suspect now, Ava says, so you don't want to spend the evening in
the bosom of her family, right? Alex is *pissed* that Ava didn't
leave when he was talking to Jeremy. Alex asks doesn't she ever
stop? Ava says no, he is her husband, and what concerns him
concerns her. Alex says this isn't a domestic dispute, this is serious
police business. Ava says if he let her in once in awhile, maybe she
could help him. Alex says if she wants to help, she can stop butting
in. Ava says she knows how hard this is for him, and how much he
loves Trisha and the family, and he shouldn't have to go through this
evening alone. Alex says he isn't looking forward to it. Ava says
this is Gwyn's way of bringing some normalcy to the family again.
Alex doesn't see how dinner will make things more normal. Ava
says they haven't spent any time together since the case started. Alex
doesn't want to go into it again, but Ava says they have to, and she
feels partly responsible, sneaking into Dunellyn, eavesdropping, etc.
Alex says let's just forget about it. Ava says she forgets much easier
when she gets a present, and goes to get a gift for Alex; it's a bag of
jellybeans. She says he seems to have developed a taste for them.
He says that's sweet of her, and she says it set her back a whole $1.65.
He says it's the thought that counts.  Ava says here's another thought;
she promises not to go behind his back anymore, and that she will be
"as honest with him as he is with her." So, do they have a date? Alex
says if she wants to go with him. She says very much so, and kisses
him, and goes off laughing. He smiles after her, but then frowns as
he looks at the bag of jellybeans, and flashes back to eating ice cream
with Jocelyn. He leaves the bag of jellybeans on the bar.

ALDEN'S
=======
The doorbell rings. Isabelle calls for Lenox, but gets the door herself.
It's Gwyn and Jeremy, bearing anniversary presents. Isabelle says
they shouldn't have, and Jeremy jokes about taking them back. They
exchange pleasantries, and Isabelle thanks Gwyn for suggesting the
dinner party, saying they should be together. Gwyn suggests it would
be a lot nicer if there weren't a lot of police around, invading their
privacy, especially in Cabot's fragile state of mind. Jeremy says it's
for their protection. Cabot comes in and offers them a drink.

More people have arrived.  Isabelle tells Gwyn it's getting worse;
sometimes Cabot will have perfectly lucid moments, then he'll go back
in time to something that happened fifty years ago like it was right now.
Gwyn asks what the doctors say, and Isabelle says the usual things,
that the tragedies brought it on and that it will eventually go away. Gwyn
says she's sure they're right. Isabelle isn't sure about anything, and
doesn't know if she really cares. Gwyn says don't say that. Isabelle
asks when it's all going to end, none of them can take any more of this.
Gwyn says they will find the person responsible, the police are working
on it 24 hours a day. Isabelle says that won't bring them back. She asks
if it's really all right with Gwyn that Alex will be there. Gwyn says yes,
she thinks she overreacted with Alex, and he was just doing his job.
Anyway, it's farfetched to think that Trisha had any part of anyone's
death. Isabelle agrees, as the doorbell rings. Cabot calls to Isabelle,
and holds up a package, reading a card. It's from Trisha, he says.
Gwyn and Isabelle are shocked, as Ava and Alex walk in.

Cabot brings the package over, saying he knew Trisha wouldn't forget,
she always remembers the people she loves. Isabelle opens the card,
and says it's from Shana and Leo. Cabot stammers that Lenox told
him it was from Italy, and he just assumed... Gwyn and Isabelle say
of course, it was a natural mistake. Cabot says it was wishful thinking,
and wishing never changed anything. He walks away. Ava hugs
Isabelle, and Alex asks to talk to Gwyn. He apologizes for what
happened. Gwyn apologizes for being overly defensive. He says
it's understandable, but she says if she's going to work for the police,
she has to develop some objectivity. Alex says it's hard to be objective
when your kids are involved. Gwyn agrees. She says when Cabot
said that present was from Trisha that she had just a moment of real joy,
but she guesses that a moment is better than no joy at all. Actually,
she says, it isn't, as she begins to cry and walks away. Alex looks
sad. He goes over to talk to Jeremy. "Festive, huh?" Alex says, and
Jeremy said no one expected it to be. Alex says he certainly didn't.
Alex asks if he's given any more thought to what might have happened
to the powder box. Jeremy says someone must have stolen it from the
studio. Alex asks who could have done that? Ava comes over and tells
Alex that this isn't the station, it's a party, and he should stop cross-
examining Jeremy.

Cabot goes over to look at a picture. Gwyn says she always loved that
picture of Curtis. Cabot says no matter how good the photographer is,
they can't ever manage to capture the spirit of the person. Gwyn says
Jeremy did a bust of Trisha for her, and he actually did manage to capture
her spirit; it feels almost like she's in the room with Gwyn. Cabot says
he'd like to see it. Gwyn says she'll ask Jeremy to do one of Clay for
Cabot, and Jeremy walks up and says he will. Gwyn apologizes for
volunteering his services, and Jeremy says she knows he would be
glad to. Gwyn says she'll go through some old photographs and find
a good one, but Cabot tells her not to go to a lot of trouble. Jeremy
says it's done. He offers to do one of Trisha, too. Cabot says it's been
so long since they've seen her, she probably looks like an entirely
different person. Alex walks up and says she's probably even more
beautiful. Cabot says that's hard to imagine, and wanders away. Alex
says he can still see her, her beautiful eyes, her long dark hair... Gwyn
gets defensive, and says that Trisha isn't the only person with long dark
hair, as they've already discussed; what about Ava? Alex says that isn't
what he meant, let's not get into that. Gwyn says they were talking about
objectivity earlier; how objective is he being? Alex says as a matter of
fact, he took in one of Ava's hair samples to the lab and had it analyzed,
and it bore no match to the hair found at Dunellyn. "You did WHAT?"
demands Ava, who has come up behind him.

Alex pulls Ava away, and says he was just doing his job. "What did
you do, Alex, take one of my hairs off the pillow after we finished
making love?" Alex pleads that he didn't think she had anything to
do with Curtis' murder. Ava says but he couldn't take her word for
it, he had to make sure. It's routine, Alex says. Ava says suspecting
Trishais one thing, but your own wife? "Trisha has nothing to do with
this," Alex says loudly, and Cabot overhears. He jumps up, asking
excitedly "is Trisha here?" Isabelle tells Cabot that she isn't, but Cabot
says he knew she wouldn't forget them, and he wants to see her. Isabelle
tries to get him to go upstairs and lie down. Gwyn is upset, and glares
at Alex across the room. Alex looks upset. Gwyn comes over and says
"well, thank you for a lovely evening." Ava apologizes to Gwyn, says
goodnight angrily, and stalks out. Alex doesn't really know what to say,
and Gwyn tells him to just go. Jeremy gives Gwyn a hug, and says
he'll take her home.

Man, I don't want to party with these people, no one ever seems to have
a good time! :-)

-Kristy
