Subject: Loving Update for Wednesday 8-2-95

Lorraine: "Well, I'll sure never take another drink, Dr. Hubbard, word of
honor."
Angie: "Well, that's a big statement."
Angie tells her she can leave, just as soon as the paper work's done.
Angie asks if she has a ride home but Lorraine says she'll take a bus.
(Enter Jacob) "Oh nonsense, uh I mean, I brought you here, I'll take you
home."

Tess rushes into her apartment, grabs a bag and starts packing. She has
flashbacks to:
1. Conversatio42n with Clay about Steffi.
2. " " Jacob about Buck.
3. " " the guy in the bar about Stacey.
4. " " Jocelyn about Clay and the money.
5. finally when she realized Clay was really dead.
Someone's knocking on the door.

Charles and Alex are talking about the possibility of Tess and Curtis
working together. Alex is trying to convince Charles but he's still not
sure. He says they should be questioned. Then Alex brings up the subject
of a partner since Alex won't be able to help. He says he gave him three
choices, but Alex wants Tony.

Tony: "Look, I don't know what you're talking about."
Steffi: "I m talking about your Auntie Wanda amd your Uncle Ray. They're
gangsters, your whole entire family's a bunch of gangsters."
Tony: "Will you keep it down, please?"
Steffi: "Including, I assume your charming self!"
Tony: "Don't assume anything."
Steffi keeps on while he forcefully leads her out of the agency.

opening credits

Charles and Alex are disagreeing about Tony. Alex says all Tony needs to
do is take the written exam. "What about experience?" asks Charles. Alex
wants to make a deal, put him on the case, if he's no good at the end of
the case, he's gone.
Charles: "I've bent the rules once for you Alex, I'm not going to do it
again."
Alex: "Why are you acting like a boyscout for?"
He proceeds to tell him they have TWO murders and a friend sitting in a
jail cell. Charles has already talked to the DA about releasing Buck. It
turns out Buck didn't sign for the plane ticket, it was a forgery. (Alex
gets that grin on his face, like "I told you so!") Alex says he's checked
on Tony and he's clean. Charles wonders why Tony didn't make the NYPD.
Alex is adamant! Charles gives in IF Tony passes the test.
Alex: "Love you babe, stay the same, we'll do lunch."
Charles: "Yeah, call my secretary." He leaves. Alex gets on the phone to
call Tony.

At the Bistro, Stef comes in with Tony hot on her heels. He asks her to
sit but she has nothing to say to a member of "Murder Inc." Tony tells
her his family has been "connected" since the twenties, maybe before
that. His father let him stay out of the mob even though he himself
didn't have that choice. Tony loves his family. (Steffi is throwing
little sour-castic remarks in as he talks) He asks her if she loves her
mom, which she does, and then asks if she approves of what she does. This
gets a heavy sigh. Neal comes over and asks if Stef has seen Deborah. She
left him with the morning rush. Stef offers to help, he declines. He says
he has someplace to go and one of the new kids will cover for him and
leaves. Steffi apologizes to Tony and asks why he's not like his family.
He admits his first choice was to be a cop.

Jocelyn is knocking, Tess tries to get rid of her. She's not to be
deterred. She questions Tess's leaving. Tess says it's business but Joc
finds the passport.
Joc: "Tess, I know what you're doing and let me give you some advice as
your lawyer and some-what reluctant friend- DON'T!"

Tess denies that she's skipping town, but Joc thinks differently. She
tells Tess that the police called about the contract. Tess is running
scared, she doesn't know what to do. Jocelyn wants to know the truth.
Tess: "Okay, prepare your hair for curling."

Steff: "From mobster to policeman, that's quite a jump."
Tony tells her about signing up for the academy and graduating first in
his class but lying on the application papers. He found out it wasn't his
family they cared about but the lying they couldn't deal with. They
agreed he would have been a good cop.

Tony: "Why, because I was such a great bodyguard?"
Stef: "You were! If the body weren't such a pain."
He again tells her she doesn't have to worry about stalkers. Stef worries
not for herself but the baby.
Tony: "Stephanie, if I tell you this, I can guarantee you, you're not
going to be very happy!"

Lorraine's dressed so Angie tells Jacob he can come back in. She gives
her directions for the burns. Lorraine hoped thar Briana would have come
but Jacob says she and Frankie are setting up a homecoming party. She
apologizes for being so much trouble.
Jacob: "Oh, trouble pa.... Come on, let's blow this popsicle stand."
Lorraine: "All right, say your piece Doc. I've got a date with some dreds!"
Angie wants to speak to her in private. Lorraine insists that Jaocb stay.
Ang tells Lor the drinking has to stop and wants her to go to a support
group. Lorraine doesn't want to attend. (She's got tears in her eyes)
She's not good at sharing with strangers. Jacob volunteers to go with her.
Jacob: "Then cool, it's you and me kid."
Lorraine: "You know, whoever let you slip through her fingers, she was
one foolish woman, Jacob." (ouch!)

Angie hands her the info. about the meeting but Jacob takes it instead.
He wants too make sure she gets there. Angie tells her to take care and
starts to leave. Lorraine thanks her and then Jacob thanks her. "For
what, doing my job?" After Angie leaves, Lorraine apologizes for her
behavior while drunk but Jacob said it was only a kiss. Then they kid
around about having to be drunk to kiss him. She says she'd have to be
crazy to not want to. (I wonder if they had waders on, the "stuff" was
getting so deep in that room!)
Angie's on the phone trying to get in touch with Charles but isn't having
any luck. She hangs up the phone and turns to see Jacob and Lorraine
leave with his arm around her.

Steff: "You know who the stalker is?"
Tony: "Was, okay, was and if I tell you, you have to promise me you're
not going to try to get even with her because it's not..."
Steff: "HER! her you said her..."
Tony: "It was Tess, all right? I know it was crazy. She thought the
agency was going to fold and she needed the publicity!"
Stef asks how long he knew and he tries to explain but she gets up and
heads for the door. He tries to follow but gets stopped at the door as
Alex is coming in. Tony doesn't know anything but Alex says not to get
his shorts in a wad!
Tony: "No, what else do cops do?"
Alex: "Well you're about to find out 'cause you're about to be one!"

Buck's being lead out to confront Charles. He wants to know what's going
on. Charles tells him to go home.
Buck: "Oh no, you're not getting rid of me that easily, Chief!"

Jocelyn is amazed that Tess used Danny for her alibi. Tess has told her
about the guy in the bar and Jocelyn asks if she offered him money to
actually kill Stacey. Tess denies it but she's not sure because she had
five tequilas and doesn't remember.
tess also tells her about Clay signing the contract without even reading
it. They talk about the heart attack and Tess swears she didn't kill him.
Jocelyn asks if there is anything else to share. Steff storms in the
door, removing her sunglasses and putting her purse down.
Steff: "Tess, do me a favor, uh, if you're gonna continue stalking me,
lay off the lingerie! IT DOESN'T GROW ON TREES!"
             SSSSLAP!!!!!!!!
(If Jocelyn hadn't been there to hold her, she would have landed on the
floor!)........
