LOVING Speedy-Update for Friday, July 28:

STORYLINE: BALANCE PROBLEMS
 (starting location: Hunter ad agency)
* Bree's mother enters and asks Jacob where she is. She is out on a
photo shoot. She introduces herself and Jacob says he is pleased to
meet her. She asks to just walk around. "Sure, knock yourself out."
She falls over. Jacob picks her up and smells booze on her breath.
* He sits her down on the couch in Tess' office. She tells him that
she has an "inner ear thing" and loses her balance; he says he has
had that problem and he hears coffee is good for it. He gets her some.
She asks about his "lady" but sees his eyes and says that sad eyes give
him away. She says Bree has told her that he writes music and asks if
he writes sad songs. She says she used to like to sing Billie Holiday
songs. She stands up and spills some coffee on herself. Jacob takes
 her to the hospital.
* [See below.]

STORYLINE: OVERWORKED
 (location: Hospital)
* Charles suggests Tout Le Monde for dinner. Angie says she is too
busy; Charles holds up a bag and says no, she isn't!
* The dinner is laid out.
Charles pours some cider and tells her that she shouldn't work around
the clock. She says a lot of people are on vacation. Then, she admits
that the hard work keeps her from thinking about Stacey. She says she
is sorry, but Charles says she is wonderful. They kiss.
* He says she doesn't have to keep it all inside; confide in him! She
says that sounds good. His pager goes off; it is Alex's cellular
phone. He asks Charles to come over to the Corinth Towers. Angie
wants to know if it has anything to do with Stacey; he promises to let
 her know. He leaves.
Jacob and Bree's mother enter. Angie looks at the burn and says Jacob
was right to bring her in. She directs them to a nearby cubicle and
says she'll be right over. Bree's mother says that she doesn't like
hospitals and asks Jacob to stay with her (taking his hand). He says
 he will.
* Bree's mother tells Jacob that he is a real nice guy. Jacob says
she spoke too soon; nice guys finish last. She says she isn't used
to strangers being so kind. She kisses him; Angie sees this.

STORYLINE: TARGET: CURTIS
 (starting location: Corinth Towers)
* Curtis locks the room and leaves the key on the threshhold. Someone
else picks up that key and enters the room. That someone is revealed
 to be Alex.
* Alex noses around the room. Eventually, he finds a note pad and uses
a pencil to try to make the imprint come out. It is multiple attempts
 to sign Buck's name.
[At a church.]
Curtis is praying: apologizing to Stacey. He says he will make Buck pay
for killing her. "Trust me, my love, he *will* be punished."
* [Alex calls Charles. See above.]
* Alex shows Charles the note pad. Charles asks how he knows Curtis
did this, and he tells Alex that since they are here illegally, this
isn't admissible anyway. Alex *begs* Charles to let him interrogate
Curtis. He says he needs to do this by the book. After Alex pleads
with Charles some more, he says he can do this *on his own*. Alex
 thanks him.

STORYLINE: KILLER BRANDY
 (starting location: Alden mansion)
* The door bell rings. It is Tess, "dressed for a business meeting!"
She is in a black lace negligee. He invites her in and he is all
business until he signs the contract. Then, he offers her a drink.
* Tess is surprised -- she was prepared to have to persuade him. She
asks what he wants. "From you, nothing." He says he has no agenda
whatsoever. She says that is a first and he suggests that she take
advantage of it. "Boy, you must have had *some* day." She says she
would love to take advantage of him, but that Cabot and Isabelle are
not exactly her biggest fans. He tells her that they are out for the
evening. She consents, and asks, "What's your poison?"
* She pours herself some tequila, but he wants the brandy. She asks
why he is so down. "I'm feeling very lonely, Tess, and I deserve to.
I have never connected with anybody in my life." She tries to "cheer
him up" by assuring him that he will soon be his usual, mean self. He
says it all started with Trisha staying in Europe, but Curtis' recent
problems have brought all these feelings back. He says he was too
busy to be a father, and now he looks in a mirror and sees an aging
three-year-old. She says she is getting depressed, and suggests a
limo ride for old times sake. He says she doesn't have to give him
any therapy. She says his confession reminded her of somebody, and
that somebody needs some therapy, too. She'll bring the tequila and
he'll bring the brandy...they go upstairs.
A shadow crosses the room.
* Clay and Tess are "busy." Curtis looks through the doorway and sees
what is going on. He leaves. Tess says that for a depressed man, he
is a *great* lover. Then, she says he is crushing her. "Clay?" She
pushes him off of her and he is dead. "Clay! Oh my God!!"
Downstairs (in black and white), the shadowy figure drops another piece
of the photo on the floor.
