Welcome to the Thursday, June 23, 1994 Loving Update.

The Alden Mansion

Our show opens with Lenox picking up a coffee service in the living room.
Deborah comes in calling for him. She wants to know if anything has arrived
for her -- a big package. It hasn't. He'll let her know when it arrives.
She needles him again about the lack of demand for butlers these days. She
asks him not to tell Clay about the package, it's a surprise. Clay comes
in, Lenox leaves. Deborah is surprised to see Clay. They spar a bit and
then Clay asks if Steffi came in last night. She didn't. Clay wants to
know if she called. She didn't. Clay wants to know when Deborah last saw
Steffi. Deborah lies and says that she hasn't seen Steffi since the
incident at the bank. Clay is worried. He decides to go look for Steffi.
Deborah says that Clay doesn't even know where to start. Clay says at
least he knows that Steffi's not with Cooper, he's still in jail.

The Corinth Jail

Cooper wakes Steffi. She thanks him for helping her get to sleep. Cooper
says he is glad he could be of some help.

The Airport

A tearful Dinah Lee asks Buck if he found Trucker. Trucker's plane for Italy
was just leaving the gate.....they missed him. They discuss Curtis having
set Trucker up and now Trucker is on a plane to Rome to try and find Trisha.
Dinah Lee cries on Buck's shoulder and says that she wants Trucker back, she
wants him back now.

On the Plane

Trucker meets his seat partner, Holly. She is on her way to Rome to meet
her husband, a car salesman. They are going to have a second honeymoon.
They've been married 50 years. Can you believe a person can live with
another human being for that length of time. Trucker tells her that she's
lucky. She asks him if he's meeting someone special. Trucker just looks
miserable.

Opening Credits.

The Airport

Dinah Lee wishes she could stop the flight. Buck tells her that Trucker
said he would call her when he got to Rome, she can tell him then. Dinah
Lee asks if Buck is really sure about Curtis.
Buck: I caught him red-handed with the music box. He finally confessed.
DL: How can he do this to me? To Trucker....How can he do this to Trisha?
Buck: He's pretty desperate.
DL: I should have known. The signs. Only someone who knew Trisha really
well could have known them.
Buck: You wanted to believe Curtis.
DL: If I'd known, I could have figured it out, I could have stopped him
before it got this far, before Trucker got on that plane.
Buck: There's no way you could have known.
DL: I knew that Curtis resented Trucker. Obviously, I didn't know how much
and now Trucker is on that plane and he is going to find a man who hates
him.
Buck: Don't worry about Jeff Hartman.
DL: The man just got out of a mental hospital, Buck. He already tried to
hurt Trucker once.
Buck: Trucker will be fine.
DL: How do you know that?
Buck: Because as soon as he calls you from Rome, and knows the truth, he'll
turn right around and come back home, to you.
DL: I want to believe that.
Buck: Come on, no use hanging around here. Let's go home. By tomorrow,
he'll be home and this will all be over with.

They leave the airport.

The Jail

Curtis holds Steffi's breakfast under her face: chicken embryos and swine
strips, he tells her. It looks pretty disgusting. Steffi isn't hungry.
Cooper tries to get her to eat. He tells her to pretend. She says, what?
That it's dinner at Tou' Le Monde {pardon my French spelling, I took
German}? Cooper tells her to close her eyes. She does. He wants her to
pretend that this is Super Power Chow.
S: I never should have told you that.
C: But you did, so you're stuck. Now close your eyes. Pretend that you're
8 years old and that you're trying to get home that last forkful of spinach.

He shoves in a huge forkful of eggs. She bites off the parts hanging out and
then spits out the rest into her napkin. Bleah!
S: That's worse than spinach!
C: But it will give you super-human power.
S: You're never going to let me forget that, are you?
C: Not in this lifetime, Super Steff.
S: What about you, Cooperman?
C: Super Steff. But see, I didn't jump out of a window with an umbrella as
a parachute. And I certainly didn't try to ride my bike downhill backwards...
S: Oh no, you just tunneled under gates and slid down a two-story laundry
chute.
C: I was making my daring escape from the dastardly dragon.
S: I was just trying to save the world from the forces of evil.
They giggle.
C: What do you think happened to them?
S: What do you mean?
C: You know, Super Steff and Cooper...guy.
S:  Super Steff and Cooperman grew up.  {Said sadly.}
C: Speak for yourself.
S: Well, Super Steff got a little sidetracked on the way.
C: Know what I think? I think that malevolent mother of yours put
Kryptonite in your breakfast.
S: Good guys always finish last.
C: Not yesterday, you had her up against the ropes.
S: And look where we ended up. In jail.
C: Don't you know anything about anything? Superheroes always end up in
these sorts of situations, it's called the dark moment. It's when all
hope seems lost. And then, suddenly, from some unexpected source, they
regain their power, and come back. {Cooper has been eating throughout
this conversation}
{Steffi holds up a limp piece of bacon}
S: Cooper, you're not suggesting that I eat this?
C: It'll make you strong. And then we can bend back the bars and bust
out of here.
S: You think it's going to be that easy to bust out?
C: We're going to get out, one way or another, and then we're going to
overpower your mother.
S:  In your dreams.  {she giggles}
C: Well it's true. All we have to do is find out how your mother managed to
get Clay to marry her.
S: And why do you think that's going to be so simple.
C: Well, it may not be as hard as you think. While you were asleep, I
came up with a plan.

The Alden Mansion

Deborah is trying to stop Clay from looking for Steffi. Deborah finally
tells Clay that she knows where Steffi is. She says she didn't tell him
because she didn't want him to go rescue her.
C: So, she's in trouble?
D: No, she's learning a lesson.
C: And you would be the teacher.
D: Clay, before I say anything, I want you to understand something.
I have been very patient with Stephanie. I understand how hurt she is
about our marriage. That's why I ignore her tantrums and her constantly,
well, flirting with you.
C: You are the mother of the year.
D: *oh* She went to far this time. If Cooper and she had come up
against all that evidence, they could have ruined us.
C: You mean they could have ruined me.
D: I am your wife. I share everything that you have and I will protect
it with everything that I am.
C: Ugh.
D: You should be grateful for that.
C: For what, your ruining my life?
D: For saving it.
C: You're doing it for yourself.
D: I'm doing it for all of us, and that include Stephanie.
C: Just tell me where she is.
D: All right. All right. You'll find out sooner or later.
C: Yes I will.
D: She's in jail too.
C: What?
D: I didn't want her to get away with it.
C: You put your own daughter in jail?
D: Somebody had to set her straight.
C: I can't believe you did that to her.
D: Oh, and look at you.
C: I'll deal with you later....
D: I'm telling you, Clay, if you put her first, you will regret it. I
mean it.
Clay slams out.
D: Well, I taught Stephanie a lesson, and now it's your turn Clay.

Commercials.

On the Airplane

Holly continues talking to Trucker. She's opening a map and trying to get
Trucker to point out the best spots. He says he doesn't really remember.
She says that Rome is supposed to be the most romantic spot on earth. Now,
I want to see......Trucker is remembering Trisha. A time when they got back
together......Holly is still talking. She realizes that Trucker is out of
it. Trucker is uncomfortable. She asks if Trucker is meeting his
girlfriend in Rome. He says, no, his girlfriend is back in Corinth. She
wonders that he's going to be in Rome alone, and he says he won't know
until he gets there. He looks so miserable!

Jail

Cooper and Steffi are talking about the plan. Steffi says it won't be easy.
Deborah is onto them, she's going to be watching them like hawks. Cooper
says he knows that, that's why they can't use another frontal assault.
Steffi starts laughing.
S: Frontal's a good word for it!
C: Are you going to stop with the jabs, or are you going to keep going?
S: Sorry.
C: I know you've never seen a perfect human specimen before. I know, I
know.
She laughs.
C: Can I go on? Try and be serious here.
Cooper tells her that they are going to keep their friends close and
they're enemies closer. Do you get the point?
S: No, I don't get the point.
C: The point is, if we get the dirt on Clay and Deborah, how do we do that?
How do we do that, how do we do that? We get close to them.
S: I'm already close to Clay.
C: I know you are. You're doing a good job.
S: I can't believe you're saying this.
C: Stay close, because when you do get the goods on him, you're going to
realize what a slime he really is.
S: I really doubt that. Besides, there's just one problem. My mother.
She doesn't let Clay out of her sight.
C: You leave her to me.
S: Cooper, you can't stand my mother, and she knows it.
C: You just watch. I'll get her to trust me, little by little. I'm going
to confide in her. I'm going to tell her how much I hate Clay. I can't
stand Clay, she can't stand Clay. He made me stay in a small, little cell.
Steffi notes some hostility from Cooper.
Clay has arrived.
Coop: Thanks for coming so quickly, I only called you YESTERDAY!
Stef: I'm so glad you're here.
Clay: Sorry it took so long, I only just now found out where you were.
Coop: Can we please get out of these clothes, I've been wearing a
jumpsuit for 24 hours.
Guard: Only the lady leaves.
Stef: What? You're not getting Cooper out?
Clay: No.
Stef: Why not?
Clay: He got you into this mess, he can get himself out of it. Come on,
Steffi, let's go.
Stef: I'm staying.
Clay: What?
Stef: I'm sorry. If Cooper stays, then I'm staying too.
Coop:  Go for it, Super Steff.  {said quietly in Steffi's ear}

The Alden Mansion

Deborah is in the living room screaming for Lenox again. She hands him a
list of things she needs him to do.....tonight. He says it's not a problem
when she questions him. She wants this evening to be no less than perfect.
Lenox asks what the occasion is. She wants to give her husband a wonderful
evening, an evening he'll never forget. Lenox starts to leave, but Deborah
stops him. She wants him to get rid of the portrait of Isabel and Cabot.

{My 8-year-old says that the picture is ugly and it needs to be replaced.
:-) :-)  I don't think he recognizes the significance of the move.  :)}

The Alden Mansion

Clay, Steffi and Cooper arrive. Steffi is back in Deborah's black-and-white
suit and Cooper is back in his clothes. Steffi thanks Clay for springing
them from jail. Clay is thankful that the whole incident was kept out of
the papers. Cooper asks if Clay is afraid of the exposure. Clay tells
Cooper that his lawyer had better be able to get the charges dropped.
Coop: My charges, what about Steffi's?
Clay: I'll get those fixed.
Stef: How, my mother had me thrown in jail for forgery.
Clay: I'll get her off your back.
Clay promises them that he'll get Deborah to lay off. They head into
the house...........where a party is in full swing. Deborah and Clay
meet on the stairs going down into the living room. She sees Steffi and
Cooper. Oh, I see you've solved our little problem.
Steffi says no, that's you mother! Steff and Cooper exit. Clay wants to
know what's going on. Deborah says it's a party. Clay wants to know what
for? Deborah says it's for us. I want to make an announcement. I think
it's time that all our friends and family were let in on our little secret.
This great mystery that's brought us together as husband and wifte. She
toasts him with her champagne glass. Clay looks perturbed, to say the least.

The Tides

Buck is coming down the stairs, picking up after Christopher as he goes. He
calls up to Chris to tell him to ask Uncle Buck for anything that he needs.
Dinah Lee arrives. She hasn't seen Curtis yet. She's just been driving
around killing time. Trucker hasn't called yet, they haven't landed.
She knows, she just thought they might have landed early.... Buck reassures
her that Trucker will call her as soon as he can and then he'll be back.
Dinah Lee wishes that it was that simple. Buck says that it is. Dinah Lee
is worried about what's going to happen when Trucker finds out what Curtis
did...that Trisha really is dead. Buck says it will be hard on him. Dinah
Lee says that he'll have to grieve all over again. Buck says he won't. This
time Trucker has her.
Dinah Lee: If that's enough.
Buck: It's everything. He loves you, Dinah Lee. And there's nothing
standing between the two of you.
Dinah Lee sees the rabbit's foot that she gave Trucker sitting by the phone.
She picks it up and holds it while she worries.

On the Airplane

They're starting their descent into Rome. Holly is folding her map. She's
very excited. Trucker isn't.

Jeff Hartman's bed in Rome

He's awake in bed holding Trisha. He is remembering the meeting with Shana,
Leo and Patti at the cafe and then later when Shana told him about Trisha's
"death". He's wondering what to do. He wakes Trisha up and suggests that
they have a second vacation in Milan. He'll make reservations in the morning
and they can be out of Rome before the day is over. He kisses her and
strokes her hair and shoulder.

CLIFFHANGER!!!

Comments:
This silent wooden puppet Trisha has got to go! The final seen with Jeff
was too weird. Not only didn't she talk, she never MOVED!!!!
