Subject: LOV: Update for Wednesday, June 22
Status: R

Well, deb's first Wednesday update was a bust. Courtesy of "expanded"
O. J. coverage, her ABC affiliate dumped LOVING on Wednesday. So, to
quote from her email to me:

LOVING Update for Wednesday, June 22:

STORYLINE: NORMAL OR PARANORMAL?
           (location: Ava's penthouse)
* Ava is telling Alex that they are going to go out for breakfast -- the
place is a surprise. Alex asks if she isn't cutting it a bit tight on
her first day back at Burnell's. Ava says no, if they hurry. Alex is
in no hurry, though, because he has to complete the paperwork to exhume
Trisha's body. Ava asks if he thinks Trisha is alive. Alex says he
doesn't know, but it is possible. Ava says that, if she is, it would
prove Uncle Harry's "someone is coming home" prediction true. "Which
means, Alex that..." Together, they say, "somebody is gonna die." Ava
 shoots him a satisfied look.
* Alex thought they agreed to forget about those predictions. Ava says
she has tried, but look at everything that is happening. She brings up
Angie's hospitalization in Boston; she needed a blood transfusion; Alex
says, "but she's *fine* now!" "True. And, I suppose, if everything
wasn't all right, she wouldn't be having a breakfast this morning."
Alex asks if that is where they are going, and Ava says yes. Alex
says that's good, because then he can get something to eat, and not
*be* Uncle Harry's "someone's gonna die" prediction! Ava says they
still don't know if someone is going to return. Alex says they should
keep that prediction to themselves. Alex points out that Ava really
hurt her best friend, Dinah Lee, with the prediction and the seance.
Ava responds, "I can't help but wonder what's going to happen to
Dinah Lee and Trucker if [Trisha] is [alive]."
* [Storyline done for the day.]

STORYLINE: PARTY TIME
           (location: Angie's house)
* Frankie comes down the stairs and sees a spread of food. Angie comes
out of the kitchen with another tray, and Frankie asks her what this is
all about. She says she is on vacation: she called the hospital and
told them that she needs some time off, about two or three weeks. She
will, however, stop by the hospital about once a week to check up on
her patients. Frankie tells her that she has been to hell and back,
and with the seriousness of the aplastic anemia, she promised him she
would take it easy. "I will, I promise."
Frankie says it is a lot of food for the two of them. As the doorbell
rings, she says she invited...a few people over. At the door are
Stacey (with flowers) and Jeremy, and Charles (with a rose). Angie
says, "OK, everyone. Welcome to my new, and very definitely improved,
life!" Charles asks if they can seal that with a kiss. They "peck."
* None.
* Angie is pouring Jeremy a cup of coffee and, I believe, she tries to
spoof a line of dialogue from AIRPLANE by saying, "Ah, Jeremy, just
the way you like your women: black." "You know me so well." Angie
goes to Charles and Alex, who are talking. She thanks Alex for coming.
Charles asks how she is feeling. "Fine." Charles doesn't believe
her, though. He suspects she'll start overexerting herself by doing
something like paint the house. Angie says she is on vacation and,
besides, she *hates* house painting. <Cut to> Stacey telling Jeremy
that she can't believe how well Angie is doing. "She is one strong
lady." Jeremy tells Stacey that Angie almost died, and that when one
is that close to death, they realize who is really important to them.
Stacey concludes that is why she is having the party. She says that
when Jack died, Stacey completely immersed herself in the lives of
her two kids. Jeremy says that when Ceara died, he isolated himself,
and that was wrong. Stacey says that kids will tend to keep you down
to earth. Jeremy says that is because she thought she would never be
happy again. He winks. [Cut to] Ava, telling about the phone call
from Leo, asking her to cancel the cake because he and Shana were
getting married in Vegas. Charles says he has been to Vegas a couple
of times, and hates it -- the endless noise of the slots, and of the
Elvis impersonators. Ava tells them that Leo *saw* Elvis. Charles
says he had about 10,000 to choose from. Ava says he said this was
The King himself, and he gave them his blessing. Charles asks if The
King is taking them to Graceland for their honeymoon. Ava says they
went to Rome, and nobody knows when they are coming back, so Burnell's
is "all in a tizzy." Angie drags Frankie away from this stimulating
conversation to "ask his permission for something." Frankie asks since
when does the mom have to ask for his permission. "Since I want to
ask Charles...to move in with us." Frankie raises an eyebrow.
* Frankie says it's no big deal. Angie says that if it's a problem --
Frankie says it's not. "So it's OK?" Frankie points out that they
already spend a lot of time together, so how come he has to come and
live here with us? Angie says it is because they love each other and
they want to take their relationship to the next step. "What step?"
"Whatever is going to be. I'm happy, Frankie. [*Big* smile :-) from
Angie.] Does that mean anything?" "Of course it does." Angie says
she doesn't expect Frankie to love Charles. Frankie says he'll never
be his father. Angie says she isn't trying to replace his father.
She is just trying to live life to its fullest. She realized that she
has to do that while she was lying in the hospital bed. Angie says
she doesn't want to be "safe," to shut herself away in a cocoon. She
asks if it wouldn't be nice to have a man in the house again, one who
won't fall asleep during Monday Night Football? As Charles overhears
in the background, Frankie says, "I suppose." He asks if they are
"happy with each other." Angie looks over Frankie's shoulder at
Charles, and says, "Very." Frankie says, "OK, it's cool. Just as
long as I don't have to call him 'dad' or anything like that." Angie
says that's a deal and they low-five and hug. Frankie says that he
has her and she's all he needs, and Angie says he will *always* have
her. <Cut to> Ava, nosing around among Angie's books. She opens one
and looks up aplastic anemia. We "hear" her thoughts as she reads
silently: "a rare, but potentially fatal disorder that results from
the unexplained failure of the bone marrow to produce blood cells."
She stops and looks over her shoulder at Angie, who is enjoying herself
at her party. She continues reading: "In acute cases, and if the
patient's blood count drops, the situation becomes chronic and more
aggressive treatment is advised..." Alex interrupts, saying he has to
get to work, and asks what she is reading. "Oh, nothing. Nothing."
She closes the book. Alex asks what's wrong. Ava says nothing is
wrong, and asks, "Angie looks great, doesn't she?" They both turn and
look at Angie, who is enjoying a laugh with Charles.

STORYLINE: FESS UP TIME?
           (location: Rodeo Bar)
* Curtis enters the dark bar and begins to take the chairs down from
the tables. [I've always wondered why they put them up there...]
Suddenly, the lights come on. A music box starts playing "Somewhere
My Love." Buck says, "Pretty song, huh? [He turns the lights on.]
Trisha loved this music box. Trucker was pretty upset when it
mysteriously disappeared. And *bam*, like magic, here it is, back
again. How do you suppose that happened?" We see a shot of a very
 nervous Curtis.
* Curtis asks what Buck wants. Buck says, "Some honest answers, for
a change." Buck asks how he could do this -- take the music box,
move the flowers... Curtis says Buck is crazy. Buck says that the
moment he saw the pollen on Curtis' jacket, he knew, and he should
have busted him then. Curtis repeats the story that he got pollen
on his jacket picking flowers for Stacey. Buck asks how he explains
the music box: Susie said that Curtis gave it to her (and she wasn't
too happy when Buck asked for it back). No answer from Curtis. Buck
asks, "How could you do this to the people you love?" Curtis responds
that he hasn't done anything. Buck says he *busted* him. Curtis says
he *found* the music box. Buck says, "Spare me the lies, OK?" Curtis
asks why he doesn't just tell Trucker. Buck says he wants Curtis to
fess up in front of Trucker and Dinah Lee. This tactic not having
worked very well, Buck turns to taunting Curtis about seeing Dinah
Lee in Trucker's arms. He asks if that is when he lost it. Curtis
screams for him to shut up, picks up a convenient knife off the bar
and starts waving it around. Gwyneth enters and asks what is going
on. Curtis says this isn't a good time, and Gwyneth answers that it
might be "one of the best times our family has ever known." She says
that what she is about to say might sound crazy, but that she has felt
this for a long time, and she *knows* it to be true. "Curtis, Trisha's
alive. My daughter is coming home to us."
* Gwyn is completing her story, mentioning the music box and the acorns,
but when the flowers reappeared, she *knew*. Buck, angrily, says,
"Gwyn, *stop*! Curtis has something to say." Curtis, softly, says,
"Mom, I love Trisha so much. She was so special, and -- When she was
little, I just wanted to take care of her. And when she died, it was
more than I could bear --" Gwyn interrupts, saying she knows how much
he loves her, but that Jeff is involved. Buck tries to get her to
continue to listen to Curtis, but she keeps on about Shana's talk with
Jeff. She says he was released from the institution the same day as
Trisha's death, so Trucker is flying to Rome today. Buck says, "What?
He can't." Buck storms out. Gwyn asks where Buck is going. "To stop
Trucker." "Why? [No answer.] Curtis, *why*?"
* Gwyneth asks why Buck doesn't want Trucker to go to Rome. "Because it
would be a waste of time." Gwyn says she *told* him about Jeff, and
that he is in Rome. "Jeff may be there, but Trisha's not." Gwyn asks
what is going on, and Curtis says he screwed up "big time" and never
meant to hurt anyone. He didn't know what to do... He stops as Gwyn
goes to the bar and sees the music box. After a long pause, she opens
it and hears the opening notes of "Somewhere My Love." She slams it
shut, crying. Curtis tries to comfort her and she pushes him away.
Gwyn: "Do you remember that I told you if you used Trucker's love for
Trisha to tear him and Dinah Lee apart, you would be hurt more than
 anybody?"
Curtis: "I remember."
G: "And you did this?"
Curtis, after a pause, decides to fess up.
C: "I stole the music box, I stole the flowers, I put them on the
stoop, I left the acorns at the cabin. Yes, I did all of this."
Gwyneth asks if he realizes how much pain he has caused. Curtis asks
about the pain they caused *him*.
C: "Is it right that I've lost everything?"
G: "It is *not* right to punish Trucker and Dinah Lee for what they
 feel!"
C: "I love her."
G: "You will love someone else some day, Curtis."
C: "You know, Dante was right. He told me that I couldn't trust her.
 I can't trust anybody."
G: "Curtis, Dinah Lee never meant to hurt you."
C: "She walked out on me. She walked out on me and she never looked
back. Dante locked me in a cage. He took my life; he took my pride.
Dinah Lee took my heart and soul. *What have I got left*? [Softer.]
 What have I got left?"
Curtis sits down at a table. Gwyneth walks over to him and comforts
 him.
G: "You know, when you were a little boy, all I had to do was take
your hand to stop your pain. I know you're not a little boy any more,
you're a grown man, but I'm still your mother, and I love you, Curtis.
I love you and I'm going to help you."
Curtis just sits there, looking hurt and confused.

STORYLINE: TIME TO CATCH A FLIGHT
(starting location: Bedroom at The Tides)
* Dinah Lee is lying in bed. Trucker enters and kisses her. He thanks
her for staying with him last night. She thanks him for persuading her
to stay. Trucker is dressed because he is about to leave on a flight
for Rome. DL asks if he really thinks Trisha could be in Rome. He
says that is what he is going to find out.
* Trucker wants to take his duffel bag to Rome. Dinah Lee offers to
try to find it. Trucker says, "That bag, Trisha used to keep it in
the --" He stops, realizing what he is saying, but DL has found it
and says, "Here. I found it." DL asks how long he will be there. Of
course, he doesn't know. She suggests he take another sweater, because
you never know when you'll find somebody who has seen Trisha and you
might have to investigate -- He says he is just going there to find
out if Trisha is alive and, when he finds out, he'll "be comin' right
home...to you. Do you understand?" DL asks if Alex knows about Jeff,
and after answering yes, he correctly accuses her of just changing the
subject. Trucker says, "I love you." Dinah Lee answers, "And, when
you love somebody, it's for keeps, right?" "That's right." She hugs
him, as we pan to a photo of Trisha holding Christopher.
* None.
* [At the airport.]
Dinah Lee [wearing a white wraparound top with a _deep_ V and a bare
midriff ;-) -- fashion description courtesy of my wife] is saying good
bye to Trucker. She tells him to have a bowl of pasta for her. He
agrees to do so. He wishes he could take her. She says she just wants
him to see this through to the end. "If she's still alive, then --"
"...then we'll deal with it, OK?" She nods. He says he'll call when
he gets settled. <Final boarding call for flight 346 to Rome.> DL
says he might be busy and not have time to do that. Trucker says this
isn't good bye, OK? They kiss, then hug, then kiss again. He picks up
his bags [and we see the *tight* pants to go with the aforementioned
top] and heads for the plane. He hands his ticket to the agent and
 boards the plane.
Buck runs up and asks Dinah Lee, "Where is he? Where's Trucker?" She
tells him that Trucker is on the plane. Buck spills the beans about
 the "signs from Trisha."
B: "Curtis set up the whole thing."
DL: "Curtis?"
B: "I've gotta get Trucker off that plane."
Buck runs to the gate as Dinah Lee ponders this news.
