LOVING Update for Friday, June 17:

STORYLINE: THE NOT-SO-SAFE SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX
           (starting location: Alden Mansion)
* Cooper is debating how he can "get into Deborah's [safety deposit]
box" -- climing he's her son (shudder)... No, he can't go through
with it. Deborah enters the room and Cooper drops the key into his
shirt pocket. Only, it's not Deborah, it's Stephanie dressed up in
clothes she would wear and a black veil...
* [In Clay's(?) bedroom.]
Clay is conducting some business on the phone. It doesn't go so well,
and he slams down the phone. Deborah says that Clay needs to learn to
control his temper, especially in front of "the children." After he
points out that Stephy and Cooper are "hardly" children, she says they
are already being suspicious enough. She says he has to try to control
his violent behavior. He says that throwing some clothes around isn't
violent; "You know, a large, blunt object connecting with your head...
That, I would call violent." But, because he doesn't want that secret
out, "I will make my disdain -- or *try* to make my disdain for you --
less obvious." Deborah asks what happened when Stephanie was there
alone with Clay. "Was she suspicious?" "*Yes*, she was suspicious.
She was also very determined." Deborah wants to know what happened.
Clay tells her that Stephanie professed her undying love for him. He
demonstrates on Deborah, including forcing her into a kiss, as he tells
her how his meeting with Stephy went. Clay says they could have gone
a lot farther, but he pulled back. He says that Stephy is completely
determined to get him back. Deborah pulls away, very upset, and says
that she [Stephanie] will get over it. Clay says he doesn't think so,
and that he won't get over Stephy. He tells her that he wants Stephy
back in his arms and back in his bed. "That's disgusting. Stop it!"
"You think passion is disgusting?" Deborah, screaming, "*YES*! Yes,
I do. When it's a young girl and a man old enough to be her father,
yes, it's disgusting, it's perverted." Clay continues to torment her,
telling her about how good she smells...and tastes...and how soft her
lips were when she kissed him. Deborah breaks away, in tears. Clay
asks her how it feels to be married to a man who is so attrated to her
daughter. "Humiliating, isn't it?" "You can *want* all you want, but
you can't have." Deborah, still very upset, grabs a few belongings out
of a drawer...and realizes that her key is gone.
[Downstairs.]
Stephanie is very proud that she fooled Cooper. She asks if she could
pass for Deborah. Cooper says she is lacking just one thing to pass
for her "mommie dearest," and he leaves to get it...he returns with
a wire clothes hanger. [A reference to the movie MOMMIE DEAREST, I
gather.] Stephanie says "let's go." Cooper is reluctant... Stephy
says she can forge her mom's signature with her eyes closed. He asks
if she thinks they won't ask for an ID.; Stephanie hadn't thought of
that... Luckily, Deborah's purse is nearby, and Stephy grabs the ID
out of it. "Now, can we go?" Cooper says he doesn't want to get her
involved in this. He says he'll do it if she lets him do it himself.
She says he'll look great in Deborah's dress and pumps. He says they
wouldn't buy her as Deborah anyway; she pulls down the veils and talks
in a [rather lame] snooty accent, saying that what Deborah wants, she
gets! "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a safe to crack." She leaves.
"Deborah -- *Stephy* -- (God)!" He runs to the door after her.
* [Upstairs.]
Deborah is frantic about the key. Clay taunts her about it. Deborah
decides that he took it, and instructs him to give it back to her. He
says he doesn't have it. She persists. He says he has no interest in
"that stupid key." Then, wait a minute. Clay realizes what the key
must be for -- a safety deposit box. She won't say anything but "give
me the key." He asks if she is keeping "the dirt" on him at a bank.
She refuses to play 20 questions with him about it and, once again, she
demands it back. Clay says he doesn't have it, but he wishes he did.
Deborah says Clay *must* have it -- the only person besides Clay who
was in there was -- simultaneously, they say (Clay:) "Cooper" and
 (Deborah:) "Stephy." They leave.
[At the bank.]
Cooper and "Deborah" enter. She asks the lady at the desk [in a
suddenly better accent] to get into her safety deposit box. The lady
asks her name, and she says, "Mrs. Alden. Mrs. *Deborah* Alden."
She presents the key, and signs the form. The lady eyes the form and
the signature card, and hesitates. Stephy asks if there is something
wrong, and the lady says, "*Something's* not right."
* Stephanie says she's in a bit of a hurry. The lady asks for a photo
ID, and Stephy gets very insulted, saying that the bank president is
a good friend of her husband, Clay. The lady asks her to lift her
veil, and she gets even more indignant. She asks the lady for her
name, and says that she has never been so insulted in all her life.
We see the lady's name tag: "Mrs. Butt." Stephanie picks it up and
promises to remember that name. [How could she forget?] Cooper rushes
in and says he'll do what he can to take care of the situation, "Mrs.
'Butte.'" Mrs. Butt corrects his pronunciation. Stephanie leaves.
Cooper tries to convince Mrs. Butt that "Deborah" has had some "facial
enhancement" done recently, and that she looks different than the photo
on the ID, and, of course, we couldn't have that kind of embarrassment
now, could we? Mrs. Butt caves in, inviting "Deborah" to come to her
box. She apologizes to her, and leads her to the box. Cooper stands
at the desk, very proud of himself, when he sees Deborah and Clay enter
the bank. "Oh my God. Oh, no."

STORYLINE: DIGGING FOR THE FACTS
           (location: The Tides)
* Dinah Lee is reassuring Trucker that she really does want him to get
to the bottom of the missing Trisha issue. DL says, "So, what's the
next step?" Trucker says he doesn't know, but that he should be an
expert at this. This isn't the first time he has had to track Trisha
 down. "Thinking about Rome?" "Yeah."
* Trucker has told Dinah Lee about the first time he followed Trisha
to Rome, and about Jeff Hartman. He tells her about the white dove
that appeared at his window there, and she figures out why the dove
upset him the other day. Trucker says he took that as a sign that she
was nearby, and he looked nearby until he found her. DL asks about
Jeff, and Trucker says that's another story...
* Trucker is finishing the story of when Jeff was institutionalized.
He wonders if the same thing won't happen to him -- he says he's going
"a little schizo," going back and forth about whether Trisha is still
around. He knows he can't explain some of the things that have been
happening. DL admits things are rather strange, and Trucker realizes
it's not just him -- he just wants some answers. Dinah Lee assures him
that he'll get those answers, with Alex and the medical examiners on
the case. It dawns on Trucker that he can resolve this thing once and
for all. He doesn't know if he can do this, but he decides that he
 *has* to...
* Trucker is talking to Alex on the phone. He confirms that the coroner
never positively identified Trisha's body -- "can we have him do it
now?" He says he knows that means exhuming the body. (We see Dinah
Lee in the background, overhearing that request.)

STORYLINE: DINNER FOR TWO?
           (location: "Rome")
* Shana returns from changing Patti and re-asks Jeff if he is alone.
Jeff says he is. Leo invites Jeff to join them for some dessert.
"Thanks, I appreciate that, but you're on your honeymoon; four's a
crowd." Jeff wishes them the best and leaves. He is seated at a
nearby table. He tells the maitre'd that he is expecting a lady to
join him, and bribes him to make sure that when she arrives, she stays
outside while he comes to get Jeff, so that he can take her somewhere
 "more private." The maitre'd understands...
* Jeff is still sitting at the table, waiting. We pan to Shana, who is
explaining to Leo about the time when Jeff was institutionalized for
his obsession with Trisha. They debate whether they should tell him
about Trisha's "death." They decide not to upset him any more. We pan
back to Jeff, where the maitre'd tells him there is no sign of her yet.
Jeff asks him to keep looking, and slips him some more _lire_. Jeff
says, "Trisha, where the hell are you?"
* None.
* Shana, Leo and Patti leave, saying "good bye" to Jeff on their way
out. The maitre d' enters and tells Jeff that his lady friend has
arrived. He has him send her in. A lady with long, black hair [we
only see her from the back] walks in; Jeff holds her loosely.
Outside, Shana realizes she left her purse in the restaurant.
Jeff tells the lady that in another five minutes, he would have had
to call out the posse. "Where have you been, darling?"
