New Baby Substitute Friday Updater brings you Friday in Corinth:

[AM]

Steffi greets Cooper as he comes downstairs: "Well, it's about TIME you
got up!" She wants him to hurry up and get to the dining room - she helped
the cook make his favorite raspberry muffins, to thank him for being so
nice last night. He just wishes he could've been of some REAL help.
She thanks him again, with a kiss on the cheek for emphasis, and runs
upstairs to change. Cooper smiles and touches his cheek...

Meanwhile, in the dining room, Deborah is sitting with her head in her
hands looking none too happy. Clay strolls in, and inquires how she
slept last night? She says HE should know! Apparently, Clay had switched
her "ni nite" tape from sounds of the ocean to a roaring thunderstorm!
They bicker back and forth, until a smug Clay leaves, and Cooper enters -
he's overheard their argument and snidely comments: "Angry words and separate
bedrooms? Gee, the honeymoon's not over already, is it?"

[Boston]

At the police station, Jeremy and Charles harass a Sgt. Pierce, demanding
to know what they are doing to find Angie. When the Sarge tells them
he put only one man on the case, Charles goes ballistic, pulls "rank"
(he *used* to be with the FBI), and threatens do have him demoted, unless
he starts doing *alot* more to find Dr. Angela Hubbard!

In the tenement, Angie continues to beg Janie to take her to the hospital,
then passes out. Janie's lowlife (LL) boyfriend [does he have a name?]
saunters in, and Janie screams at him "Where the hell have you been?!
We have to get her to a hospital! If we leave her, she's going to die!"
LL is only concerned about himself getting arrested, and pulls a bottle
of booze out of his pocket. Janie berates him - "You're just a lousy
drunk - maybe *you'd* be better of dead!" She grabs the bottle and starts
to pour it out on the floor, and as he tries to wrestle the bottle back,
liquor flies everywhere, some landing on Angie. Suddenly, Janie hears
the landlord yelling for them, and she and LL run out the door.

[AM]

Clay calls his P.I., Parker, to see what he's dug up on Deborah. Parker
informs him that Deborah's *extremely* allergic to nuts. Clay smiles -
"Good work!"

Back in the dining room, Deb's whining about Cooper butting in to her
and Clay's life. She bitches at him, and leaves in a huff. Steffi
walks in, and Cooper immediately informs her of Clay's and mommy's
sleeping arrangements. He tries again to convince her that Clay
doesn't love her mother - she must've forced him into marrying her.
If that's true, Steff asks, does he think that Clay still loves her?
[How pathetic] "If Clay dumped you to marry your mother, he's a creep,
and if he gave in because she force him, he's a wimp!" Coop angrily
responds, and either way, she doesn't need Clay. Coop again strongly
suggests that Steff should leave the mansion, as he imagines things are
going to get real ugly between her mother and Clay. What if she's in
love with Clay, Steff asks? Coop doesn't think so, he thinks she's just
holding on because she feels no one else will ever love her; but, Coop
assures her, someone will!

Deborah walks in, and Coop exits. Deb and Steff discuss the comments
Deb made about Steff's weight the other night at dinner - she really
didn't mean it like it sounded, blah, blah. Steff confronts her about
her and Clay's separate bedrooms; Deb claims it's totally normal - a
marriage needs space to breathe.

[BOSTON]

Charles berates himself for letting Angie go to Boston in the first place;
Jer tries to console him.

Meanwhile, the landlord and his son barge in and find Angie, who begs
them for help...

Back at the police station, one of the doctors who attended the conference
arrives. He hasn't seen or heard from Angie. Jer and Charles then
quiz him about Angie's symptoms (nosebleed, cold, fatigue, mysterious
bruise on arm) and the doc reluctantly speculates a blood disorder.
Could it be life-threatening, Charles anxiously asks?

The landlord and son drag poor Angie out and throw her out by some trash
cans, assuming, by the smell of the liquor on her, that she's just
another drunk. Help, Angie moans...

[AM]

Steffi catches Cooper before he leaves and tells him she confronted her
mom about the separate bedroom thing, her mom's lame excuse for it,
and that she didn't really buy it. And for the first time, Steffi claims
it didn't really bother her! That's progress, Coop comments, and turns
to leave. Steff stops him - she was thinking about what she told him
before [?] and she can't believe she didn't see it before - "The person
that can make everything right has been here all along!" Coop's puzzled
until Steffi throws her arms around him, exclaiming "It's YOU!"

Back in the dining room, Deb whines to Clay about Cooper. Clay placates
her - he'll take care of it. He pretends to make peace with her "we
might as well make the best of it." He hints he might even like to sleep
with her... Stupidly, Deb eats it up. That's not all she eats, however -
Clay serves her a "special" omelet he had the cook make - he even feeds
it to her, bite by bite. Delicious, Deborah says. After a few bites,
however, Deborah begins to choke - Clay tells her that what makes it so
good is the finely ground WALNUTS. Deb chokes out "I'm allergic..."
Clay rubs it in further: "What, you don't like this Deborah? I'm hurt!
*I* made this!"

Choke-on-it-hanger!
