				LOVing Update
			    Tuesday, April 21st, 1995

Bob and I have switched days since I missed Tuesday ... and ... well ...
Bob, I didn't *forget* to watch LOV ... I kinda went shopping instead ...
but I got a short overview from someone who did watch Friday. And I did
see the last few minutes. All in all, it didn't seem like a Friday show.
And to make up for the short update today, I'll add the one-year-ago
update ... Do you remember what monumental occurence occured??

Today:

Frankie and Steffi spent the day trying to boost Bree's confidence. Seems
Frankie has a shot at directing his first video (my, my, the are the
writers forgetting that the child is still in High School?) and he
wants Bree (btw, that's how the soap update in my local paper spells
her name) to be in the video. She demurs and most of the scene is
spent with Steffi telling her to believe in herself and to believe that
she's beautiful and she will be! Love-sick Frankie offers all of his
encouragement and the scene ends with Bree saying "Noooo" but really
meaning "yessss".

Charles has tracked down the woman Jacob brought to Corinth to pose
as his sister with Angie's-aplastic-anemia. He roughs her up and she
confesses that she isn't really Jacob's sister. But she doesn't reveal
any other information, claiming she knows nothing else.

And lastly, Casey and Ally share an idyllic afternoon at Beldon's Pond.
Casey builds Ally's false sense of security by not telling her he's
involved in the shady business of trying to nail the Corinth drug ring
single handedly. As they sit on a blanket underneath the trees, Ally
lovingly looks into Casey's eyes and wishes that the moment would
never end. He returns the smile. And as he slowly kisses her and
lowers her down upon the blanket, ?-the-drug-dealer-whose-name-I-
can-never-remember is lurking in the bushes watching the lovers....

That's about it for Friday! And now, as promised, exciting updates
from one year ago .....

from 4/8/94 ...

[Ava]

I have to start by saying that I cannot do justice to Lisa Peluso's
acting today. It gave me goosebumps, and kept me on the edge of my seat.

Ava is in her room having a seizure. Her eyes are indeed open, but
staring off into nothingness. Alex and Kate are rushed out as the team
of Doctors and Nurses go to work on Ava. A nurse has accompanied them
out of the room and Alex asks if this means Ava has come out of her coma?

No, she is only having a seizure. They demand to know what's happening.

Inside the room Harry is there amidst the medical team holding Ava's
hand. He's telling her not to fight it, to let go. As he talks, his
voice takes on an echo-dream-like quality so there's no doubt in our mind
that this Harry is indeed only a spirit.

Alex insists on seeing Ava, and bursts into the room. Alex and Kate and
Ally are shaken by watching the team in action trying to bring Ava under
control. Alex yells that they don't know Ava like we do, it's obvious
that she's fighting for her life!

The Dr. comes out to talk to the family. They ask what triggered the
seizure? He doesn't know.

Harry tells Ava to let go ... they don't even know what caused the
seizure.

Alex asks if she could have more? Indeed.

Harry tells Ava it could happen again, and he knows she was scared. But
she doesn't have to be. She should have seen how scared she had her
Mamma and Alex. She could end all that suffering.

The Dr. tells Kate he's sorry and that he knows how they feel to which
Kate emphatically replies ... No you don't! You have NO IDEA how much I
love her. Alex then asks what other effects could there be? The Dr.
answers with numerous things, brain damage, paralysis.

Paralysis, Ava honey, Harry tells her. (She's still unconscious, not
interacting with Harry at all.)

The Dr. tells Kate and Alex that they're just not sure what could happen.
It could be that they are keeping Ava alive with life support machines.
They should consider their options. Kate and Alex exchange wounded
sorrowful looks.

Inside Ava's room, Harry is still crooning to her ... Just let go Ava,
it's all over .....

And from 4/12 ... Ava with Ava, Harry, Alex, Kate and Dinah Lee

Alex is sitting beside the still comatose Ava in her room. There is no
outward change in her condition. Alex looks tired, and at wits end.
He's running his hands through his hair in a nervous gesture as he pleads
with Ava ... Ava, I don't know what to do. Please tell me what you want.
... he hangs his head in a moment of desperation.

Ava's spirit meanwhile is still on the mezzanine of her stairway to
heaven with Harry. He is still dressed in his white suit and Ava is in
her spirit costume, too. It's a flowing long wite dress, which has cords
of silver wrapped around her bust and waist line. Very pretty. She
looks down and sees Alex. Harry tells her to come away from the balcony,
and to not look anymore.

The camera pans back to Alex with his head bowed over Ava's inert form
and slowly gives us an overhead shot of the two ... as in the upper right
hand corner of the screen we see Ava and Harry looking down ...

Ava begs Harry to have one last chance to talk to Alex! She has to go
back, she has to!

Outside the room, Kate is walking around the waiting room as Dinah Lee
comes to visit. Dinah Lee tries to cheer Kate up, and reminisces about
the time Dinah Lee was depressed and Kate and Ava invited her over ...
Remember that Kate? ... No ... We had a slumber party. It did wonders
for me. I wish I could do the same for you. C'mon. Remember we danced
to old blue eyes? How bout a little now? ... Dinah Lee takes Kate's
hands and stands up, starting to sing a Sinatra song and twirling Kate
around as they dance in the waiting area. (A nurse and orderly in an
adjoining room see them and start dancing too, cute.) After a while,
Kate sits back down laughing ... Thank you Dinah Lee, I didn't think I
had a smile left in me. ... They talk about the Curtis break up, and
Dinah Lee tells her that she loves Trucker. Alex comes out of Ava's
room.

Both Kate and Dinah Lee convince Alex to go home and get some rest. He
finally agrees and goes home. We see him sitting on the bed holding a
beautiful black and white picture of Ava. Sandy comes in, upset because
he's afraid to go to sleep. He's afraid he won't wake up like Mommy.
Alex comforts him and sends him off to bed. Alex is a bit confused when
Sandy doesn't want to be tucked in or read to, but he doesn't follow him.
Instead he lays back upon the bed, fully clothed, clutching Ava's picture
against his heart. The lighting in the room subtly changes, casting a
glow about the sleeping Alex as we see Ava's hand reach out and take the
picture. ... Alex, you know I hate this picture ... he awakens to see Ava
(the spirit Ava dressed in the long white gown) coming to lay down next
to him. ... Ava? Is it really you? ... she touches his face ... of
course it is ... He starts to get up but she curls down beside him,
resting her cheek against his chest asking him to just hold her.
They lay quietly together, savoring this time alone. As she starts to
leave she begs him to always remember her. She reaches over and closes
his eyes, and she disappears. The lighting returns to normal and Alex
opens his eyes and jerks to a sitting position.

He says ... thank you darling. I know exactly what to do now ........

And from 4/15 ...

The opening scene is of the comatose Ava laying in her Hospital bed.
Everything looks the same, except that her head is a bit more elevated
and they have changed the bandages on her head so that a fringe of bangs
are showing. She is still hooked to the respirators, and the monitor is
still attached to her finger. The scene pans up to the Mezzanine
(remember they're half way up their Stairway To Heaven.) to show the
spirit Ava and Harry watching the scene below.

Kate is outside the room, dressed in a lovely dark brown dress. Jeremy
comes to say hello, he tells Kate that he was visiting Angie and was
stopping by to see Ava on his way home. He asks if there has been any
change? Kate tells him, No.

Ava is happy to see Jeremy and tells Harry ... Harry, see that guy down
there? That's Jeremy. Ah, he and I had something really special going,
but I gave it up. For Alex. That's how much I love Alex. ... I know,
Ava ... You know?! Harry! Have you been spying on me? ... Well, there's
no TV up here y'know ... Ha! And here you've been telling me how
wonderful it is! ... It is Ava honey. It's like you never imagined.
It's more wonderful than anything. ... Ava is resting her chin in the
palm of her hand as she leans on the balcony watching what's going on
down below as she says under her breath ... Hmph, no cable ...

Just then Alex comes into the hospital looking for Kate. He looks
incredibly sexy dressed in a simple, elegant, formal black tux with a
white shirt and black tie. He is carrying a small overnight bag and one
single white rose ...

Harry! Look at Alex! He's dressed in a tux. Oh, doesn't he look
handsome, what is he up to?

Alex sees Kate and asks her if she's ready. Kate it concerned about
Alex. She asks him what he will do if Ava doesn't respond ... But she
will Kate, I know she will. ... Alex, I'm worried about you. ... What
am I supposed to do Kate? Listen to the doctors say they don't know
what's going to happen? Kate, I feel this in my bones. I know this is
what I have to do. Ava doesn't need the doctors poking her anymore.
What she needs is for me to prove how much I love her! ...

Harry tells Ava to quit watching, to come away from the edge. He regrets
ever allowing her this visit with Alex. But Ava doesn't want to move.
She swats Harry's hand away as he tries to take her hand to lead her
away. ... Harry, I want to see what they are doing! Leave me alone ...

I'm going to prove to Ava how much I love her by marrying her today! ...

Ava is touched. A single tear forms at her eye as she realizes what Alex
is going to do. Harry tells her to let go of Alex, that it's time to go
and meet the Big Guy! This time she puts her hand in his. But before
she takes a step with him she says ... Stop! Harry, I can't go with you.
I have to go back ... You can't go back Ava! Becasue there won't be a
Bride ...

Downstairs :), Kate finally agrees to let Alex go ahead with the ceremony
but not before asking him what he will do if Ava doesn't answer him
during the ceremony? Alex says ... She will! But if she doesn't, well
I'll deal with that if the time comes ... The drop-dead-gorgeous Priest
who looks an awful lot like Superman, comes into the waiting area. He is
worried and said he came as soon as he got Alex's message. Has something
happened? Kate takes control and leads the Priest away so she can
explain everything. But not before she takes the overnight bag from Alex
promising to get the Bride ready. This leaves Alex alone with Jeremy.
Alex shakes his head and asks Jeremy ... You think I'm crazy don't you?
... Jeremy has a stern look on his face as he harshly tells Alex ... I
think you need Help! ... Alex is torn, and turns away agonizing over
whether he is doing the right thing. All of a sudden he feels Jeremy
clap him on the back and turns to see Jeremy smiling at him asking ...
What can I help you with Alex? ... Alex lets out a relieved sigh and they
laugh together, finally heady with excitement over the coming nuptuals.

At one point Alex does ask Kate where Dinah Lee is, and no one there
knows, and Alex decides they can't wait to find her. In answer to
Jeremy's query about what he can do to help, Alex mentions the Doctors
and Jeremy nods understanding. Jeremy sets off in search of Angie. He
finds her behind the Nurse's station. Angie smiles and asks ... What?
Are you still here checking up on me? I'll have you know that I called
Charles and we are on for dinner tonight after all! ... Jeremy is pleased
and tells her so adding ... but I have a favor to ask of you ... Of
course, anything, what is it? ... Jeremy starts to explain Alex's plan as
Angie smiles happily.

Ava turns to ask Harry ... What do you mean there won't be a bride? ...
That's just what I said Ava! ... Harry grabs her and turns her to look
at a vision of the future. Harry tells Ava ... Look, Ava! This is your
future. I see hurt and Hate down there waiting for you Ava. Real Hate!
Is this what you want to go back to? ... Ava tears away from him crying
... No! I don't want to see that Harry! ... She turns back to the
balcony to watch the scene below ... Look at Alex! He's so handsome,
and in a tux! He hates tuxes, but he's in one today. He calls them
monkey suits. But look what he's done - just for me. To prove how much
he loves me. Look at them down there, planning my wedding ...

Down below everything is ready for the wedding, Angie has cleared it with
the Head Guy of the Hospital, who says it's fine as long as it doesn't
disrupt regular Hospital workings. Charles comes in looking for Angie.
He tells her after that phone call, he was coming to the Hospital to get
her no matter what! Alex comes up in his tux and when Charles asks what
the getup is for, Alex tells him thanks to Angie pulling some major
strings that he's going to marry Ava, today! He asks both Angie and
Charles to attend the ceremony.

They all walk into Ava's Hospital room. This time Kate has done wonders
and has dressed Ava in her wedding outfit. All we see of the outfit is a
long lace mantilla draped over her head and cascading over her shoulders,
and the bodice of a beautifully intricate lace gown. Alex places the
rose in her hands ...

Ava exclaims happily ... Look! That's my favorite gown! ... White? You
like white? We've got plenty of white up here, come take a look Ava! ...
and a rose, isn't it beautiful ... Roses? You like roses? Ha! Ours are
beautiful, they don't even have thorns! ... Roses. I love roses. Did
you know that Alex once gave me one rose each day for an entire three
months? ... Ava looks on dreamily and shoo's Harry away as he keeps
trying to get her to go with him. ...

Alex says ... Wait! Where's the ring? Oh gosh Jeremy has it, where is
he? ... Jeremy rushes into the room and hands Alex the ring and the
Priest starts a beautiful ceremony.

Alex asks Ava if she can hear him ... She looks down and tells him that
she can ... We hear the Priest start the traditional ceremony, and Ava
and Harry can hear him as well. Touching scenes of Kate during the
readings ... Love is kind, love is patient ... He asks if Alex will take
Ava as his lawfully wedded wife ... He says yes ...

Ava tells Harry that she HAS to go back! ... Harry spins her around and
tells her ... That's it Ava. You wanna play hard ball? Fine! We will.
Here look at your future, Ava! This is what awaits you in the next
twelve months if you go back! ... (I really thought we'd see some
spoilers here, but the camera only shows Ava and Harry looking at some
vision which we can't see!) ... there is eerie Carnival like music
speeding in the background as Ava watches the scene before her in horror.
She breaks away from Harry, running back to the balcony, tears in her
eyes as Harry harshly yells at her ... That's it Ava! Is that really what
you want to live for?? ... Ava gives Harry a forelorn look as he finally
asks her the question that he knows will peak her interest unlike any
other he could ask ... C'mon Ava, aren't you curious to see what it's
like? ... She stands there undecided while below ...

The Priest asks Ava if she will take Alex to be her lawfully wedded
husband? ... Everyone stares at the comotose Ava to see if she will
indeed open her eyes ....

Finally from 4/19 ...

We open this storyline with a replay of yesterday's ending, in Ava's room
in ICU. Alex is still dressed in his tux and is distraught over Ava's
nonresponse to the wedding ceremony. She is still laying comatose in her
bed, dressed in her wedding gown and veil, still connected to the
respirators. Alex is pacing the floor telling her ... I don't know what
to do anymore, Ava. Maybe I misjudged what you wanted. Maybe you really
do want me to let you go ... he collapses into a chair beside her bed,
running his hands through his hair, and he's close to tears. ... I just
don't think I can let you go. It's too hard, I can't let you go ... and
he drops his head on top of her lap into his hands as he starts to break
down. We see Ava's hand slowly descend to gently caress his bent head.

Alex turns his head to look at her hand, and wonderously reaches up to
take it in his. He turns his head to look up at her ... Ava? ... Ava?! ...
Oh my God, Oh my God, it's you! You're back. Thank you God! ...

Ava slowly opens her eyes and we get her view as Alex slowly comes into
focus. Alex is dazed and amazed at this incredible turn of events. He
tells her to take it easy, and that she's in the hospital. He tells her
of the gunshot wound and that she's been gone for a while. Ava looks
confused and slowly reaches up to the respirator which is stuck into her
mouth. Alex notices her motions and starts to tell her that the Doctors
- The Doctors! That reminds him that he better let someone know that she
is awake. He tells her that he'll be right back as he rushes out into the
hallway yelling to find her Doctor.

The next scene is after the doctors have checked Ava out, Alex is outside
the room talking to the doctor. Alex is concerned when the doctor wants
to schedule a scan and wonders if the doctor suspects he'll find anything
wrong. The doctor reassures Alex telling him that at this point they
have every reason to believe that things are fine! He cautions Alex that
her recovery will be slow. She may be disoriented, and may have
selective memory loss. Particularly the shooting, and perhaps the hours
previous to the shooting. Alex muses that it may be for the best if
she never remembers that part.

Alex rejoins Ava in her room and she is once again dressed in her hospital
gown and bandages on her head. Her bangs are still peeping out from the
bandages. And the respirator is finally out of her mouth, she now only
has the small oxygen tube running in her nose. Alex is once again beside
her bed, holding her hand and telling her how happy he is that she's back.
She tries to say something but he tells her to rest and be quiet. She
struggles to tell him something and finally croaks out ... hun- ...
Alex guesses that she's trying to say that she's hungry ... Hungry?
You're hungry? Well, I guess you are! You've been without food for over
two weeks. I'll check with your doctor to see what you can have ... She
struggles again to tell him something. She's really concentrating on getting
this out, she brings her hand up to her throat as she swallows and tries
to talk, and she says ... Strawber-... Strawberries? Sure honey,
you can ... then a dawning of understanding crosses his features as he
realizes what she's telling him and he looks tenderly into her eyes and
tells her ... Strawberries? You bet I'll get you some strawberries. ...

Alex is out in the hallway at the payphone and he's ecstaticly talking to
Kate telling her the news. Kate is on the other end, with tears of joy
in her eyes. (OK, I'll admit it, this part choked me up. I knew it
would. Just to see Kate so happy that Ava was all right was wonderful.)
Alex tells her that the Doctors have given Ava a positive prognosis, that
things are looking good! Kate thanks the Lord that Ava is back, saying
that it truly is a miracle. Alex wants Kate to go upstairs to tell Sandy
that his Mommy is all right. Kate tells him ... I'm gonna do more than
that! I'm going right up those stairs and gather him in my arms and
we're coming to the hospital to see her! ... That's great, Kate. There's
something you can get, too. Remember when I was trying to tell her how
much I loved her and I brought her strawberries? ... Yes ... well, she
asked me for strawberries, Kate! ... Well, bless her heart. You bet I'll
bring some. I'll stop by and pick up a pint on my way over there. ...

Hope you enjoyed the trip down memory lane with Ava and her coma, I did!
