Subject: LOV: Update for Monday, January 23, 1995
Status: R

Well, the opening statements are scheduled for 1pm (East Coast time)
so it looks like we get LOVING today, but Debbie's TV isn't getting
anything. So, we switched. Here's what happened in Corinth on the
first day of OJ Trial coverage :-(

Stacey, Buck, and Trucker bring in a load of wedding dresses. They
unload them all onto a coat rack so Dinah Lee can see them. Trucker
calls for her to come down. She sees the dresses. Stacey says that
they shoplifted the dresses from Brunells. Buck says pick one before
they get arrested. Trucker says Ava left them borrow them since Dinah
Lee wouldn't go look at them. He hopes that she is not mad at him.

Deborah is pounding on the door of the Alden Mansion. Clay wheels over
and opens it. Deborah tells him that he *will* drop this agreement
with Cooper. He's heard this request before, Clay says, so what's
different? Steffi's life is at stake, Deborah says.

Steffi tells Cooper he was gonna tell her something before they moved
her to this room. He says that can wait, she has to get better. She got
sick because she was worried about their relationship. He better tell
her everything if there is ever gonna be a chance for them again.

She says sure she's mad! She's mad about him! This is the greatest
thing anyone has done for her. Buck wants some credit, too. Oh, yeah,
Stacey says, Buck put his masculinity on the line. Buck doesn't
understand all the fuss about a wedding dress (ed. note: neither do
I). Stacey says it's not how it looks on you, it's how it makes you
feel (with a wiggle of the hands down the body). Buck says she's
right, he *doesn't* understand. It's a woman thing, the two girls say.

Deborah tells Clay that Steffi has a tear in her esophagus. She says
Cooper is at her side. Well, Clay says, then he's back in jail. If
Cooper is back in jail, Deborah syas, then Cooper will be free to tell
Cabot and Isabelle that their favorite son is a blackmailer. Deborah
says that he once told her that he cared for Steffi, whether she is
with him or not. Cooper gives her what she needs, and Clay can't do
that, and neither can she! He loves her and wants nothing but love in
return. She begs him not to take that away from her. If he does, that
will kill her. Clay doesn't look like he's reconsidering it.

Cooper tells her that he loves her, he wanted to marry her, he bought
an engagement ring for her birhtday. Cooper says that Clay locked the
door to the carriage house. She says but it was open. Cooper says Clay
gave her the pictures to look at, (Steffi nods) then he suggested she
confront Cooper (Steffi nods again), and then Clay unlocked the door.
What about the car? Steffi asks. Cooper says he didn't run Clay down.
If he didn't, Steffi asks, who did? Her mother did, Cooper says. But,
how did he get out of jail? Cooper said that Cabot believed in him
still. Cooper tells her about the deal with Clay to get out of jail.
He had to tell Cabot that he did run Clay down, and he did have an
affair with Deborah. Why didn't he tell her? Steffi asks. Well, that
was part two of the deal. He had to promise to stay away from her.
Steffi looks stricken.

Trucker calls Dinah Lee for the fashion show. Buck complains. Men can
do this now, Trucker says, doesn't he want to be more sensitive? If
Trucker tells anyone about this, Buck will put a stick in his
eye. Stacey comes down and says no cat calls, no wistles, and keep
your mitts off the model. Dinal Lee models the dresses to "Going to
the Chapel of Love" (ed. note: doesn't this fall under the soap rule
under seeing the gown before the wedding?) Stacey puts a veil on Buck,
who does not appreciate it. He tries to give it to Trucker. Dinah Lee
finsihes the modeling session and she colpases in laughter on the
stairs.

So, Steffi says, he did it to protect her? Cooper admits it. He hired
Eric to protect her? Yeah, he says, Ally said it would blow up in his
face, which it did. When she and Eric walked into the Christmas party,
he handled it in an adult manner, he got rip roaring drunk and danced
with her mother. And he saw them at Belden pond and he knew Eric was
falling in love with her, and that wasn't part of the deal. He wanted
to tell her. He went to her room, but he found her and Eric in bed.
And he went to the agency, and he tried to tell her. But, Steffi says,
she wouldn't let him. She cries. He says he is here as long as she
wants him. She cries and says forever? He hugs her.

Trucker picks Dinah Lee up off the floor. She declares her modeling
career over. Let Cindy Crawford have all the fun. Dinah Lee asks them
what they like. They all like different ones. Stacey asks her which
one makes her feel good. Dinah Lee says that they all felt so...Dinah
Lee wonders if she has time to choose. She thanks them all. Trucker
says he had a good time, and he knows Buck did, too. Yeah, Buck says,
but that news better not leave this room. Dinah Lee says that she
needs help getting back into blue jeans. She and Stacey go back
upstairs. Trucker tells Buck that he understands that Dinah Lee
couldn't make a choice because none of them come close to the dress
she wants. Buck says but that one was sold. Trucker is gonna get that
dress for Dinah Lee. Buck wishes him luck. No, *we* are gonna get the
dress. Huh? Buck says.

Cooper is in bed with Steffi. How are they gonna deal with Clay?
Cooper says the hell with Clay. Well, he will find out he was here,
Steffi says. They'll deal with him, Cooper says. Cooper says that she
has to learn to like herself. Cooper says that he loves her, he will
always love her, no matter what happens. Steffi says that it sounds
like he's saying goodbye. He is, in a way. Clay will go to the DA and
tell them that it's all clear now, it was Cooper behind the
wheel. They'll toss him back into jail. But he didn't do it. Steffi
says her mother wants them together? Yes, it seems that way, Cooper
says. Does he beleive her? Yes, Cooper says, he thinks he does.

People don't die for lack of love, that only happens in the movies,
Clay says. Well, Cooper is the only thing that will keep Steffi
alive. Clay doesn't buy it. They argue. Clay says that Cooper broke
the agreement, so it's open season on Steffi now. She can see Cooper
on visiting days at the jail, unless Deborah wants to serve his time
for him by confessing. That won't stop Clay, Deborah says, he'll
probably go after her even if she's in jail. That's right, Clay says,
heads he wins, tails she loses. Deborah and Clay yell at each other
and Clay stands up and chokes Deborah. She looks down at his legs and
snorts.
