Subject: LOV: Update Monday, January 9, 1995
Status: R

It's Monday. Debbie is busy, so we traded. Here's what happened in
Corinth today:

Ava, Alex, and the kids are on the bed, watching TV. Alex declares it a
holiday, no work, just play. the phone rings. They let the answering
machine answers. It's a reporter. Alex hangs up on the call.

Jeremy and Gwyna re at the hospital. Jeremy wants to talk to JillBear.
Gwyn tells him he doesn't have to do this. He says he wants to make
peace. Jeremy enters the room. JillBear awakens and says he was
wondering when he'd show up.

Someone is showing an assortment of bugs and listening devices. There
is a small gun, a lighter that is a camera, a compact that is a
recorder, and a beeper that is a video camera. And a bullet-proof
vest. Deborah says she doesn't need the protection, Clay Alden does.

Cooper pounds on the door to Steffi's room and she says she doesn't
want to talk to him. He uses a key and enters, seeing Steffi and Eric
getting out of bed. Cooper says What are you DOING? and rushes over to
choke Eric, as Steffi screams STOP IT!

Deborah gives him a diamond necklace. He says the last time, she said
the emeralds were all she had. So, Isabelle won't miss it, Deborah
says. So this is hot? he asks. Deborah picks up the gun and asks if he
is gonna tell her how to use this stuff. First lesson, he says, don't
aim it unless she wants to use it.

Alex says he is not a hero. He shot an unarmed man. No one will
forget, as long as JillBear is in town. He will say something, Alex
says. No one will beleive him, Ava offers. Alex says there will be an
investigation, she has to be ready for that. Sandy comes in with a
card for the Hero. Alex says they can play Twister. See, even his kids
think he's a hero, Ava offers.

JillBear tells Jeremy to tell the police that he was unarmed. He told
them, JillBear says, but they didn't beleive him. Why should they?
Jeremy says. JillBear reminds Jeremy he saved him from falling down
the elevator. Will Jeremy let JillBear take the fall again?

Steffi gets the two guys apart. Steffi says Eric treats her with
respect. Why should she listen to Cooper? Because, Cooper screams, he
*paid* Eric to look after her! (ed. note: Stupid, Cooper. Stupid
stupid STUPID)

Alex says maybe he should have turned JillBear around and shot him in
the back. He shot an unarmed man. And she lied about it, Alex adds.
Graham will find out, Alex says, these things come out, they always
do. Ava says they just stick to their story, and it's their word
against JillBear's, and no one will believe him. Alex says maybe it
will be better when they *do* investigate. Ava says he may be thrown
off the force. Can he live without being a cop? Ava kisses him and
then jumps out of bed and tells him she forgot that Momma has some
pictures. Pictures? Alex asks. Yes, she doesn't want to forget
them. She leaves.

Jeremy says JillBear's falling out of the tree was an accident.
Getting shot; was that an accident, too? JillBear asks. He held Ava
and Sandy hostage, Jeremy says. So, he deserved it? JillBear asks.
Jeremy is a coward, JillBear taunts. Even he didn't let his own
brother fall. It was an *accident* Jeremy says. If it was, how come no
one knew he had a brother? JillBear taunts.

Steffi asks Eric if it's true that Cooper paid him. He admits it, but
says he gave the money back when he found out what he feels for
her. She tells him to get out. Eric appologizes and leaves. Steffi
asks Cooper why he did it. He did it for her, Cooper says. Oh, she's
so pathetic, no one could love her for herself. She rants and says she
was surprised that she fell for it again. Clay didn't care for her, he
didn't, why did she think Eric would care? Cooper straightens a lamp
she almost knocked over. Cooper wants to appologize, but Steffi wants
him out of her life. He finally gives up and leaves. Steffi is on the
bed, crying, obviously upset.

Jeremy is on the phone with Alex. He tells Alex that JillBear is
saying Alex knew he didn't have a gun when Alex shot him. Jeremy says
not to worry, no one believes him. Alex tells Jeremy that he keeps
going over what he was thinking when he shot him. Jeremy tells him
that way lies madness, he knows; you keep going over and over things
to see if you could have done something different. Jeremy says hi to
Ava. Ava? Alex says. Where are you, Jeremy? At the hospital, Jeremy
answers. The hospital? Alex says. Jeremy says Ava just walked by
him. In JillBear's room, Ava says she wanted to see how he is
doing. She is so concerned, JillBear says. Well, she also wants to
talk about the shooting. There is no excuse for what he did, JillBear
says. It was a mistake, Ava says. He knew, she told him, JillBear
says. He didn't hear her, Ava says. Ava asks him not to tell the
police that she warned Alex. What is she saying, does she want him to
lie? Ava looks like she's considering it.

Steffi emerges from the bathroom. She rips the sheets off the bed. And
screams.

Cooprr goes to Deborah. He tells her Steffi needs her. Steffi always
let her back in. He tells her that he messed up. That guy Eric, he
paid him. And Steffi knows. Deborah tells him to tell Steffi
everything, including the deal with Clay. He tried, Cooepr says, but
she won't listen to him. Deborah says this is ridiculous, she loves
you, you love her. Deborah says Eric is just the rebound. What if she
rebounds all the way back to Clay? Cooper suggests. Besdies, if he and
Steffi get together, Clay will make her life miserable. Deborah tells
him that she has it all under control, trust her.

Steffi is walking around the room (the lamp Cooper set upright is
down). She throws something at the mirror and breaks it. She cries.
