LOVING Update for Friday, January 6:

STORYLINE: A LITTLE BODY WORK
           (location: Trucker's garage)
* Trucker is working on a motorcycle. Dinah Lee enters with a picnic
basket. He says she didn't have to bring lunch. She says it isn't
lunch. Trucker, undaunted, says he's starving and let's get something.
Dinah Lee says she can't: she's busy -- "I'm getting married, ya know."
She lists some of the many things she has to do: the cake, her dress,
the "something old, something new" thing... He says he had no idea
they would be so traditional. She replies, "Oh, well, all traditions
*will* be observed, just not necessarily in the traditional way." "How
so?" DL walks to the door and turns the sign from "open" to "closed."
She locks the door and dims the light. He asks, "Am I through for the
day?" "You have hardly begun." She takes off her coat...
* He starts nibbling her neck. She pulls away and tells him not before
they're married. "Tradition, remember?" He reminds her that they've
already broken that tradition. She says a gentleman should never
remind a lady of her indiscretions. "I'm sorry." She says that's OK,
and that's why everything should be by the book, including a bachelor
party. He reiterates that he doesn't need one. She tells him that he
will soon be an old, married man. "You want to live it up while you
can." He says he doesn't need a night out with the boys. She asks who
said anything about the boys. He asks if he is supposed to watch the
girl pop out of the cake by himself. "How did you guess? Here's the
girl [points to herself, then kisses him] and here's the cake." She
gets a slice of nondescript cake out of the picnic basket. "You'll
have to imagine that I'm already popped. [She sits him down in a chair
and steps away.] I'm a little out of practice." She tosses the coat
into his lap. She turns on some music and asks, "You can stretch your
imagination, can't you?" She walks around a motorcycle and starts to
dance. All smiles, she lets her hair down and flings her vest off.
She tosses it to him [actually, well over his head]. She kicks her
shoes off, way over his head. She struts over to the picnic basket
and takes out a pair of heels. She puts one on, then goes to Trucker
and extends her leg. He obliges. She struts away, loosening her wrap
skirt. She pulls it off, revealing her garter. She twirls it above
her head a few times then flings it behind her. She walks toward him,
then turns around and walks away. She slips out of her blouse, leaving
it on a convenient pair of handlebars. She parades around the bike a
couple of times, then bends backwards across the bike. She picks up a
leather hat and adds it to her outfit. She struts back to the basket
and pulls out a floor-length string of pearls. She puts them on and
twirls some of them over her head as she goes back around the bike.
She takes a leather jacket from the bike and puts it on. She puts one
leg up on the seat (we get a shot from under her "leg up" of Trucker).
She walks over to Trucker and wraps him in the pearls, then pulls him
up out of the chair by them. She leads him over to the bike, pushes
him down onto the seat (head on the handlebars), climbs on top of him
 and starts kissing him.
* None.
* Trucker and Dinah Lee are under a blanket on the floor, next to the
bike. Trucker says that was the best bachelor party anyone ever had.
DL says she's just like any other girl who pops out of a cake. He
says she's very, very special, and they're going to live together and
grow old together, and he doesn't think he'll ever get enough of her.
He kisses her and climbs on top of her. She giggles and pulls the
 blanket up over them...

STORYLINE: CASEY and ALLY and COOPER and STEPHANIE and ERIC and CLAY
(starting location: Hunter-Wilder, or is it just Wilder now?)
* Casey and Ally enter. Tess, at the secretary's desk, says she thought
he was taking the day off. He says he is, he just wants a few supplies
so he can start on the TV campaign. Tess says she thought he'd want
another day to celebrate. He says he can work and celebrate at the
same time. Tess turns to Ally and says it must be great to have Ava
back. She says yes, they are going to celebrate for another week.
Casey says he will have the campaign before she knows it -- he has a
bunch of ideas. Tess asks if this is the same Casey she was talking to
last week -- the one who thought he couldn't cut it because he hadn't
worked in TV before. "Oh him? Disappeared. Gone. I think they're
looking for him but I doubt they'll find him." Tess says she hopes
 they don't. She leaves.
Ally says, "Can you?" "Can I what?" "Cut it." "Yeah, I really can."
"Without putting too much pressure on yourself?" "You mean without
using drugs?" "I didn't mean that." "That's OK. I know you did."
 Casey stomps out.
[In a conference room.]
Stephanie enters. Eric is working but says he's never too busy for
her. She asks what about yesterday. A business thing he couldn't get
out of. She asks if he is sorry for kissing her. "Of course not."
She says he seemed a little bit distracted. He says he didn't feel
distracted, but he thought they should take some time. She moves
toward him and says she doesn't need time. When he protests, she says
she doesn't want to talk about it either. She kisses him.
[Out front.]
Cooper comes into the front door and asks if Eric Brooks is around.
Casey says he doesn't know; he just got there. Tess walks by and says
he's in the conference room. Cooper starts back. Ally says, "Cooper?"
 Cooper turns and asks, "What?"
* [In the conference room.]
After kissing through the commercial, Stephy pulls away and asks Eric
if he still wants time to think. "No, not really." They start again.
[Out front. Casey is gone now.]
Ally tells Cooper not to go in there "like this." He says he's fine.
He just has a little business to discuss with Eric. She says it sounds
like personal business. He says that Eric isn't accepting his checks
any more. "Well, good for him." Cooper says he now wants to hire him
to get out of town. Ally says she thought he wanted Stephanie in good
hands. He says the hands have gotten too good. Ally implores him to
stop this. Cooper says he has been up all night thinking about this.
Ally says that if he cares for Stephy, he shouldn't go in there and
make a scene with Eric. "If it gets Eric out of town, then it's good
for her. Trust me." Ally points out that if Eric leaves, Stephanie
would be right back to where she was before, with no Cooper and one
more rejection. "Do Stephanie a favor, Cooper. Don't go in there."
[In the conference room.]
Eric pulls away. "What?" He says it is one of his better instincts.
She says he wanted to court her the other night. He says that he also
overheard her tell Cooper that she still loved him. "Yeah, and he
walked away. Do you know how that felt?" She says she is sick of
people walking away from her; she wants somebody to walk *toward* her.
He says that's fine, if the right person is doing the walking. She
says that when she's with him, she feels good and safe, and the hurt
goes away. He says he just -- just wants to make sure that she doesn't
settle for something less than she deserves. She says everyone is
always worried about that, and she ends up with nothing. "If you want
to be with me, then say so. If you don't, then you've got --" He
stops her by kissing her. "There. Does that answer your question?"
"I guess so." "OK, let's get out of here." They leave.
* [At Casey and Ally's house.]
Ally brings Casey some hot tea.  She apologizes for bringing Cooper;
she knows he doesn't want house guests while he's working. "What's
he cooling off from?" "He asked me not to say." She apologizes for
keeping something from him, saying that she explodes when he keeps
things from her. Casey asks, "Do you love me?" "You know I do."
"Well, you can have all the secrets you want."
Cooper enters and thanks Casey. Casey asks if Tyler is asleep. Cooper
answers yes, and he'd like to have crawled in there with him. Casey
suggests that he go home and take a nap. "I'm not much of a napper."
Ally suggests that they go outside and "let the genius work." Cooper
says he likes what Casey is working on. Ally and Cooper go outside.
The phone rings. It is Tess, calling to ask how it's going. Casey says
he just started. Tess tells him to get all those ideas down on paper
as soon as he can. He says he will; he is. Tess says she is glad to
hear it, because things are tighter at the agency. "What do you mean?"
Eric had to leave early and will be gone for the weekend. She promised
to messinger him some storyboards in New York. "Will that be a problem
for you?" "No, no problem." "Good. Thanks." She hangs up. "You're
welcome." Casey recalls popping some pills, then Eric telling him to
keep his inspiration "kicking." He then recalls saying, "Ally, I am
*not* using drugs any more. I swear. I never will again." "Is that
the truth?" "It's the truth." He ponders his situation...
[Outside.]
Cooper asks Ally if she told Casey about the Eric situation. She says
no, because he asked her not to. She says he should just tell Stephy
about the deal. "And then she comes running right back to me?" "Yes,
where she belongs." He says Clay's "one-man mafia" would make Stephy
miserable for the rest of her life. She says he is underestimating
Stephanie. He says he *isn't* underestimating Clay. "Give her a
chance, Cooper." "What, and let him destroy her?" "No! To let her
 stand up to him!"
[Inside.]
Casey says it's break time. He gets up and goes to the door.
[Outside, with Casey in the doorway, overhearing.]
Ally: "When you start treating people like they're powerless and they're
weak, they start to believe it. And they start hanging on to anything
and everything that comes by, they stop trusting themselves. But when
you expect strength, you might be surprised."
Cooper: "Well, she's not strong enough. I wish she were, but she can't
take care of herself. She's not there yet."
Ally: "How do you know that? How do you know that? She might be *so*
close. Let her prove it to you. Let her prove it to herself. If you
love her that much, then you owe that to her."
The camera pans in on Casey, who turns inside and closes the door.
Ally: "Hello, hello, am I getting through to you?"
Cooper: "Yeah, I guess you are."
Ally: "Cooper, go to her. Tell her everything."
Cooper: "OK. All right. You crazy woman. Thank you."
Cooper kisses her enthusiastically and grabs his jacket.
[At Eric's hotel room.]
Stephanie and Eric enter. They immediately kiss. They walk toward the
bed, continuing to kiss as they shed clothes. Eric lays Stephanie down
and lays beside her. They continue to kiss and shed...
* [At Casey and Ally's house.]
Ally comes in from outside. Casey asks wasn't she supposed to register
for second semester today? "Oh yeah, I forgot." He says it is almost
4:00, and shouldn't she get over there? She says she doesn't want to
dump Tyler on Grandma. "Well, he can be alone with me for an hour.
Can't he?" "You know I can't, Casey." Casey gets up, frustrated, and
says he has a confession to make: he accidentally eavesdropped on them
out on the porch. He says he heard them talking about Stephy and that
she told Cooper that he needed to have a little faith in her. "Don't
you trust mine?" "Of course I do," she says, but she promised Cooper.
"I made a promise, too. Remember?" As Ally ponders that, a buzzer
goes off. Ally says she has to get that and leaves. "My promise may
be not so easy to keep."
[At the hotel room.]
Stephanie is down to a bra and her skirt. Eric is kissing her wildly,
but she is fantasizing about it being Cooper. "Stephy?" She opens
her eyes. "What?" "I want to look at you." No response. They kiss.
"Stephy, don't you want to look at me?" "What?" She pulls away and
says she's sorry. "Yeah. So am I." "I just can't do it, Eric."
Knock, knock, knock. It's Cooper. "Stephy?" Stephanie whispers,
"Oh, my God." "Stephy? I have to talk to you. Please open the door."
Stephanie and Eric start pulling on their clothes. "Go away, Cooper."
"Stephy, I'm not going away until I talk to you." "I don't want to
talk to you, just go away." Cooper takes out a room key and opens the
door, only to find Eric and Stephanie half-dressed. He is stunned.
