Today on "the city", I get to watch at home and try to once again get
used to where the delete key is in relation to the enter key (see, at
work, it's right above it, and the \ key is above that...and here
it's backwards).

Anyhow...on to "the city"...

In her apartment, Steffi pulls Tony aside and tells him this is
embarasing, she can't believe that he didn't tell his family about
her. Tony's mother says the least Tony could do is do right by her...
Tony's brother Joey says somewthing, and Tony tells him to stay out
of this. Pop, Tony says, it's not what you think. What, his mother
says, you want me to believe that she eats well? One of his sisters
says that's not likely, except for that, she's all skin and bones.
Steffi gets their attention and tells them all that it's not Tony's
baby. The family is in shock.

Nick is on the pay phone in the bar and he's talking to his agent. He
can't believe this! He wants to write this down! Meanwhile, Ally and
Danny are dirty dancing, heating up the joint. Someone tells Buck if
they keep this up, someone will have to hose them down...or hose him
down. Ally tells Danny he can stop pretending, he's gone. He? Danny
asks. Her uncle. She knows he was only doing that to get to Alex. He
says they're like two sticks trying to start a fire. Nick comes over,
happy. He says "Cowboy, pour me one for the road." Buck pours a drink.
Nick says he's on the next plane out of here.

Jocelyn and Alex show up at Sydney's party. She takes Jocelyn aside,
appologizing to Alex for stranding him so soon. Alex, who accepts a
glass of something tells himself to just remember that these people
put their pants on one leg at a time, just like he does (ed. note:
there's a thought I'll keep...:-)). Meanwhile, Sydney chides Jocelyn.
When Sydney pointed out Det. Masters a couple of days ago to her, she
pretended not to know him. Now they're dinner dates? Sydney thinks
there is a story there. She tells Jocelyn that she wants her to met
the guy they are trying to reel in. Jocelyn says she has done some
reeling. It's Malcolm. Jocelyn is visibly shocked.

Sydney introduces them and Malcolm asks if they've met. Jocelyn
swallows and says no, she just has one of those faces. Sydney says he
can see more of that face in the negotiations. Malcolm says he has
some concerns.

Steffi tells the woman about Cooper and the stalker, and how Tony was
her body guard, and in fact still is...he's her Lamaze coach. Steffi
says he said he learned from them. The girls laugh. Tony's talking to
his brother in another part of they apartment. He tells Joey that he
doesn't want to get into the family business. Well, Joey says, he
sure used that business to help his friends. Tony says that was a one-
time thing. He doesn't want any business from Joey's side.

Tess comes into the bar and tells Ally and Danny (who are still
dancing) that if they sweated half that much at work, they'd be going
places. Danny tells her to lay off, they clocked out. Tess leaves
them. She sees Richard, who is waiting for Zoey. Well, Tess says, if
she stood him up, she has better taste than expected. Nick tells Buck
he's off to California.

Tess stops Nick from leaving. He says he was looking for her. He
needs to get his stuff out of her apartment. Did he find an apartment?
Better...a gig! This is a reason to celebrate, she says, taking him
to a table, where they order tequilas. He tells her it's as an
opening act for a charity gig in LA with The Eagles. The Eagles? Tess
says, getting the picture, and realizing Nick doesn't have a clue.
Yeah, The Eagles! Tess tells the waiter to make them doubles...he'll
thank her later, she tells Nick. Meanwhile, Danny tells Ally that
she's got good moves. She tells him the same. He tells her he got a
call back for the sporting goods. She hugs him and tells him this
could be good for both of them. Yeah, Danny says, it *could* be. They
slow dance. Richard describes Zoey and Buck says he hasn't seen her
in the bar. Doesn't matter, Richard says. Tess tells Nick that Sydney
has a torch for him. Not Sydy, Nick says. City? Like the city? Tess
says. No, with an S. It's her nickname, and she hates it. Whatever,
she s
ys. Sydney got all bent out of shape when she saw them kissing in the
bar; and she bought all the tickets for a charity concert in LA. What
do you call that? Classic Sydney Chase, Nick says, upset. Richard
joins them, saying that's his favorite subject.

At the party, Alex says that the Celtics need more than a new stadium
to get back to their winning ways, the Lakers are gonna walk all over
them. The other guy (anyone recognize him...owner of the Celetics?
Manager? One of the players? Owner of the Lakers?) says want to wager
on that? Say, two thousand. Unless you're talking pecos, Alex says,
he's the wrong man. He's between...ahhhh...takeovers, Alex continues.
Meanwhile, Malcolm says he understood that if he agreed to her terms,
they would back off on TransCo. They never said that, Sydney says.
She implied...He misunderstood, Sydney says. In 5 years, Malcolm says,
all the media will be controlled by a few conglomerates. There
already is Disney and Cap Cities; Time Warner and CBS...she knows the
players, Sydney says. Malcolm says he understands her desire to make
Chase Enterprise one of them, but he doesn't want to give up the
front seat. Sydney says she is expecting a call from Jared, he can
talk to him if he'd like to. Malcolm accepts, and says that he's
ore a recluse than Howard Hughes; he'd really like to met Jared some
day. Sydney leaves Malcolm and Jocelyn. He asks if she's following
all this. She tells him that she played Monopoly with her brother. He
sneers and says the stakes are higher now. She's very pale. Malcolm's
wife comes over to reclaim him. Jocelyn finds Alex and tells him he
seems to be holding his own. He thanks sports as being something to
talk about to the bluebloods. He says she looks like she has work to
do. Malcolm looks at her from across the room, and she averts her
eyes from his and looks at Alex.

Tony's family is eating. Tony's mom wants the recipe for the ravioli.
Steffi says she can't...Tony says because it's her mother's secret
recipe. One of the sisters says that if she were pregnant with a rich
guy's baby, who was in paris on business, she's be there, not here
with Tony, no offense. Steffi tells them that Tony is the best thing
that ever happened to her and she doesn't know what she'd do without
him.

Malcolm, Sydney, and Jocelyn are talking to Jared. Camera pans and we
see it's...you guessed it...the butler.

Richard is still waiting for Zoey. Ally stops Danny in the middle of
the slow dance. He leaves, telling her that she knows where to find
him. Nick is on the phone again. He's not happy this time. Richard
comes up and says too bad Mom is having a party. She locks the floor.
You'd need these, Richard says, as he holds up the keys, to get in
there. Nick tell Richard he's an okay kid. Zoey shows up. She's says
she hurts; she's been mugged. She faints into Richard's arms and to
the floor.

Steffi says goodbye to the family. Tony says he'll be right back. She
colapses onto the couch. She picks up the mail. There's a letter from
Cooper there. She opens it.

So, Jared/butler says, are we all on track? Yes, Malcolm says. Good,
then go have some eclairs. He heard they were good. They hang up just
as Nick bursts in, wearing only a guitar. Helllloooooooo, baby. He
sings "Take it Easy", as Sydney is trying not to react. He kisses her
on the neck.

It's late and I can't think of a hanger that doesn't mention some
part of Nick that might be hanging...
