WHOSE LIVER IS IT??
Location: Nick's hospital room

*Nick is up and slowly walking around, with Richard and Zoey doing
commentary and cheering him on until Lorraine helps him sit down in a
chair. They proclaim Nick the world champion of rehab and Zoey gives him
a kiss. Lorraine asks if he's doing OK and Nick replies that he's never
been better. Nick asks if Lorraine and Zoey can go outside for a little
while so he can talk to Richard alone. Lorraine is reluctant to go and
suggests Nick should wait until he's stronger. Zoey goes over by Nick's
chair and talks to him for a minute, while Lorraine goes over to
Richard. She quietly tells Richard she knows what Nick is going to ask
him, and tells him to think long and hard before agreeing with Nick.
Lorraine and Zoey leave. Richard asks what was Lorraine talking about.

*Nick and Lorraine aren't seeing eye to eye on something right now,
which is why he needs Richard's help. Nick wants to find out the name
of the person on the transplant list who was supposed to get this
liver. That's probably unethical, Richard says. Nick agrees that it
probably is, but he needs to know. So, he wants Richard to be his
partner in crime? What he wants is for Richard to be a good son, Nick
replies.

*Lorraine and Zoey are in the waiting room. Lorraine is pacing and Zoey
yells at her to stop, it's making her crazy. Lorraine apologizes and
sits down. What's the matter, Zoey asks. It's Nick, Lorraine tells her,
he's different, he's not himself. Zoey says of course he isn't, he
almost died.... maybe it's like in the movies, when the person gets a
transplant, he starts acting like the person he got the spare part from,
Zoey starts fantasizing. "Maybe he got that liver from some lady in the
Bronx,...and then you come home and he's dancing around in your
underpants!". Lorraine starts to laugh. "See, I knew I could make you
laugh", Zoey says. Zoey knows just what she needs. They grab their coats
and Zoey leads her away.

*Even if Richard wanted to help, he doesn't think it's possible to find
out who would have been next on the list. Nick asks him to please find
out. Richard thinks that it would be better if Nick put his energy into
getting better. He'd get better quicker if he didn't have this nagging
at him, Nick says. Can't Nick just let it go? No, he's not going to
rest until he finds out who he cut off, he just wants to be sure that
they are OK. Is Richard going to help him on not?

*Zoey took Lorraine to get a manicure. Zoey's nails are now just about
every color in the rainbow. Zoey pays for the manicures and they go in
the other room to sit and let their nails dry and drink coffee. Lorraine
says this is just what she needed. Lorraine explains to Zoey that Nick
wants to find the person whose place he took on the transplant list.
Zoey thinks that it's natural, that Nick will find out who it was and
get over it. She tells Lorraine to lighten up and they should go out and
do something crazy. Lorraine can't right now, she wants to go to an AA
meeting.

*Richard is helping Nick back into bed. He says it sounds like Nick is
giving him an offer he can't refuse,...or else. Nick apologizes for
coming on so strong, but he won't have any peace of mind until he finds
the person who was supposed to get this liver. Richard agrees to help,
but what if they find this person and the person isn't OK? "I don't
know", Nick replies.

WHO IS TRACY QUARTERMAINE??
Location: Tony and Danny's apartment

*Carla is trying to make coffee, but manages to dump the filter and
coffee grounds on the floor. As she's cleaning up, Tony walks in and
wonders why Carla's not at work and why she's making coffee for two.
It's her day off, Carla replies and it's her place, too. She can have
anyone she wants come over. He didn't say she couldn't. Tony wants to
know what's wrong with Carla, she's been in this mood ever since she
visited Tracy. "Oh, you mean when I came home and found you with Ally
in her hooker get-up?", retorts Carla. Carla was supposed to be nice to
Tracy and find out what Tracy wants from the rest of them to save the
building. Carla caught her father having dinner with "that witch",
Tracy. That's what Tracy wants, Gino. "Tracy and Uncle Gino? No way!",
Tony laughs.

*Carla doesn't find Tracy "sinking her meathooks" into Gino very funny.
There's nothing going on between Gino and Tracy, Tony assures her. He
wasn't there the other night, he didn't see what Carla saw. Tracy was
cozying up to Gino "like a boa constrictor ready for a squeeze." How
would Tony like it if Tracy starting getting close to his father? It
would never happen, Tony tells her, my mother would kill her. Well, my
mother's not around, Carla reminds him. Gino didn't even tell Carla he
was going up there. Can you blame him, Tony asks, you would have butt
in like you always do. Who else is going to take care of him, Carla
says. The doorbell rings and Tony answers it, it's Uncle Gino, Carla
called and asked him to come over. "What's this about you and Tony
having a problem?", Gino asks Carla.

*So that's why Carla didn't want Tony around when Gino came over. So
what kind of problems are we having, asks Tony. Carla says it really
isn't about Tony, she wanted to talk to Gino to apologize for the other
night. She said some mean things, but so did Gino. So why did she feel
she had to make up a story that Tony and she were having problems, just
to get Gino over there? Gino will sit on the couch and Carla can talk
about whatever she wants. Tony wants to leave, but Gino tells him to sit
down and stay. Tony tells him that Carla's right, Gino doesn't know
anything about Tracy Quartermaine, none of them do, and the first night
they met, she wasn't exactly friendly. So we got off on the wrong foot,
says Gino. But why this change all of a sudden, why is Tracy so
interested in Gino now, Tony wonders. Tracy and Gino are also from two
different worlds, Tony points out. Gino has already told her what he
does and Tracy doesn't have a problem with it. Not only is Tracy very
classy, her family is also very wealthy, Gino tells them. Tracy's
family has enough money to buy Gino three times, and still have enough
money left over to live like a Kennedy. Tracy's definitely not after
his money.

TRACY'S TALL TALES
Starting Location: Tracy's penthouse

*Tracy's pouring herself a cup of coffee when the phone rings. She
walks over to the desk, but lets the answering machine pick up the call.
It's Darryl from the Phillip's Collection Agency, calling about her
delinquent hotel bill for the second time. He asks that she call him
back before he is forced to take further action. "I'm working on it, Mr.
Hassey, or is that hassle, I'm working on it.", Tracy shouts at the
phone, and wonders how she's going to get the money out of Jacob.
Dillon runs in yelling, "guess what?" and tells Tracy that there was
this man in the park who took off all his clothes and yelled..(Dillon
whispers something to Tracy, who looks shocked). Tracy points to the
guy standing next to Beth and asks if that's him. No, that's Beth's
friend John. She's going to tutor him in math while Dillon takes his
nap, if it's alright. Fine, replies Tracy. John walks over to Tracy
and introduces himself as John Garcia. "Did you say 'Garcia'", Tracy
asks him rather oddly. Tracy all of a sudden seems very interested in
him. She asks Beth if she can borrow John while she's helping Dillon
with his homework. She has something John can help her with, she says,
"I want to take you downstairs and buy you lunch, Mr. 'Garcia'.

*As they get in the elevator to go downstairs, John wonders why Tracy is
asking him to lunch when she doesn't even know him. Tracy says she's
going to play a practical joke on a friend. All John has to do is order
whatever he wants and let Tracy do all the talking. Also, he looks a
little bit too clean cut, Tracy tells him, taking the bandana from
around his neck and tying it on his head. The joke will work better if
he looks a little street-tough, and use some slang, too. All he has to
do is eat and pretend he doesn't speak much English if he's spoken to.
That might be a little tough, since he's going to be an English major,
John tells her. Tracy offers to pay him. "You're going to pay me to be
an illiterate, Hispanic gangster?" Yes, Tracy exclaims, this is going to
be so much fun. John isn't sure he wants to do it, but Tracy convinces
him. When they walk into the bar, Tracy coaches him to 'look tough'.
Jacob comes over and Tracy introduces her friend "Juan".

*(The City Bar) Tracy very slowly tells 'Juan' to sit down and order.
Tracy tells Jacob that she's spending time with Juan because she's
working for the Quartermaine Foundation. She tells Jacob this sob story
about Juan, that he was living in a garage with no electricity or
plumbing. He was involved in gangs and drive-by shootings. He was going
to end up in jail, just like his father, who shot his mother over a
lottery ticket. But thanks to the Quartemaine Foundation, he's going to
finish high school and is thinking about college. Tracy is spending
time with him to improve Juan's social skills. Tracy had Jacob to thank
for all this. When he told her how he wanted to help kids, it made Tracy
think of what she could do to help. She wanted to help because the
Quartermaine foundation is understaffed because they are underfunded.
It always comes down to money, Jacob says. Jacob tells her not to go
anywhere, he wants to run something by her. After Jacob walks away,
Tracy says, "Trust me, I'm not going anywhere."

*Juan finishes eating and Tracy tells him he can leave, that's all she
needed him to do. Tracy thanks him for helping and John leaves. Tony,
Carla and Uncle Gino enter the bar through the hall door. Carla thanks
Tony for supporting her. All he said was that nobody really knows Tracy
Quartermaine, Tony reminds her. Gino says that all he did is have dinner
with Tracy, he didn't propose to her and they didn't pick out china
patterns. Gino didn't get where he is today by going into things with
his eyes closed, he'll take things easy, he knows what he is doing.
Carla first, and then Uncle Gino spot Tracy talking with Jacob. Jacob
wishes he had had a chance to talk to 'Juan'. Gino comes over to say
hello. Jacob tells him that Tracy is working with inner-city kids and
Jacob may want to get involved. Jacob mentions volunteering, which is
not exactly what Tracy had in mind. She wants to sit down and talk to
him, but he's busy so they'll have to do it later. Tracy's talking to
Gino when a man walks up behind her and calls her name. "Darryl Hassey.
You didn't return my phone call, so I thought I drop by and have a
little chat about your account...." "Oh, Darryl, my goodness, I didn't
recognize you. It's so wonderful to see you!", Tracy shouts, throws her
arms around his neck and gives him a big hug.

That's it for today. See you next Thursday!!!

Wednesday, on "the city":

Tracy tells Jacob that Dilon wants an authentic New York egg
cream. Jacob starts to make it, and Tracy says she never
properly thank him for the other night. Dilon didn't know what
was going on, and he reassured him. She tells him she heard him
talking about some disposable income.

Tess tells the guy that she's taken. He hands her a card, Marty
Burns, Producer. He can fax her a resume, if she wants. No, no.
He tells her that he's looking for the lead in his new musical.
Me? Tess asks. Buck comes over and Tess says that this is the man
who is going to make her a star.

Nick, in his new private room, tells the nurse that she had
better tell him everything, or he'll call the docotr and let her
tell him the story. Okay, she'll tell him everything she knows.

The nurse says that they have a protocol, but when a liver was
available that would be compatible, she never got to contact the
databank. She was told to contact Dr. Arnold. She was told not to
ask any more questions. Then, he was admitted, and the transplant
happened. It was quite a surprise. Yeah, tell him about it. So,
does he expect her to believe that he did not know about this?
She's dismissed. With pleasure, the nurse says. Loraine asks what
is going on here?

Buck gives the producer the third degree. Tess tries to get him
to stop. The producer says he has another appointment. Tess gets
him to stay to listen to another song.

Tracy says that she is having lunch with her broker, she could
get them in contact. Jacob says that he and Angie are all set.
Jacob comes over to Dilon with the egg cream. Jacob tells Dilon
that the first one is on the house. Dilon is confused. Tracy says
that means the first one is free. Dilon asks why she was talking
so long to Jacob. Tracy says Jacob was telling her how he likes
to work with kids. Isn't that nice? Yes, Dilon says, he gave
them the egg cream. Yes, Tracy says, and he'll give them more
than that, soon.

Buck tells Marty that he doesn't know him well enough to not
like him, but this singing thing means a lot to Tess, and she
means a lot to him. So, if Marty is legit, that's fine. Tess
sings. Marty stands up and claps, he has an appointment that he
has to get to. He tells her to call him, they audition tomorrow.
Marty leaves. Tess yells at Buck for almost ruining her chance.
Dilon asks why that woman was singing, she sounds like Pocahontos.
Tracy sees Jacob and she fakes a call to her dad, asking about
his foundation for inner city kids. Jacob is listening. Jacob asks
her about the foundation. Tracy tells her that he prompted her
call. When they were talking about him wanting to help inner city
kids, she realized that she hadn't been doing enought lately, so
she called. Jacob asks her for some written information. She
doesn't have any, but when he's not so busy, they can sit down
and she'll answer any questions he has.

Loraine wants him to focus on getting well. Who cares where this
transplant came from? The poor slob who might be dead now since
Nick took his liver. Or, Loraine says, he might have gotten his
own miracle.

Jacob realizes that Dilon left his back pack at the bar. Upstairs,
Dilon says he forgot his book bag. Tracy says she has to see Jacob
later, she'll get his bag for him. She sends him off to change.
Tracy sees that she has a message, she crosses her finges, hoping
it's Daddy. It's a collection agency. She owes the hotel $11,000.
How did they find her? There's a knock on the door. She thinks
it's the collection agency. It's Jacob, returning the book bag.
He says that he and Angie have a bunch of toys that Dilon might
like. Tracy says he's fine, but she can call the foundation and
see if there are shelters that could use them. Jacob thanks her.
No, she says, thank you. Jacob leaves. She sighs, and says why
is he so nice. Oh, well, she smiles, that never stopped her
before.
