Tuesday on "the city"

Zoey is pacing in the hospital. Loraine comes over and
asks what she's doing here, it's late. Zoey says she
didn't think she'd get any sleep. She's too wired.
Loraine says her blood saved Nick. No, Zoey says, it
wasn't her's. It was Richard's.

In the chapel, Sydney says, "I'm your mother." Richard,
in shock, asks why is she telling him this? Richard tells
her that his parents died in the accident. She knows that
this would hurt him and he can never love her like he
loved them. She's only telling him this beacuse of Nick.
Nick is his real father. Richard stares at her and
calmly says she is lying. She is a liar.

At the detective agency, Tony can't believe that Ally
wants him to marry Carla. Alex says that Tony marying
Carla is not going to solve their problem. They shouldn't
rule anything out until they cover all the legal bases,
Alex adds. Where is Jocelyn? he asks. Ally says Jocelyn
wanted to look into this for legal precedence. Tony
remarks that she said Jocelyn would be a little while,
but it's been a long while since Jocelyn left. Where
could she have gone that she could do some work? Alex
wonders.

Jocelyn is locked up somewhere, banging on the walls,
Please, get me out of here, she screams.

Where is Jocelyn? Alex asks. Ally says she assumed that
Jocelyn was across the hall. Ally offers to go check. No,
Alex says, he'll go. Ally gives him her keys. Ally
comes over and sits on the chair with Tony and and tells
him that she was only thinking of him. Did he really think
that she was trying to get rid of him? No, Tony says, he
has more faith in the two of them than that. Tony says
that a marriage to Carla would be worse than jail. One
of them would eventually kill the other. It would be a
marriage in name only, Ally offers. Tony has trouble with
that. He wants to marry once, to someone that he loves.

Zoey tells Loraine that she's not Nick's daughter; she
couldn't give blood since she's not a close relative and
he needed it from someone else with the rare blood type.
Richard has the same blood type, Zoey says. Loraine says,
"Oh my God", what gave Zoey the right to play God? Zoey
says she realizes she made a pact with the devil.

Richard is telling Sydney that he remembers growing up
with the Wilkens. He has seen pictures of them holding
him as a new born baby. He has the birth certificate and
doctor's papers. Sydney tells Richard that the birth
certificate and doctor's papers were all faked, to show
that Richard was the Wilkens' by birth. If they hadn't
died when he was 13, he would still be there, and they
would still love him as if he was their own. How much?
Richard asks, calmly. Huh? Sydney asks. How much did it
cost her to have them raise her son?

Sydney tells him the Wilkens weren't people they picked
out of a hat. Jared and she knew them. The first time
she met them, she knew they were special. He knows how
special they were, Richard says; they raised him. They
taught him values, like truth and honesty. She knows,
that's why she picked them. They were desperate for a
child, they had been trying with no success and she had
one she could give them. They sent report cards and
pictures and sometimes a video. She was watching him
grow up so fast from so far. Never a day went by that
she didn't think of him. He has no idea how hard it
was for her. Oh, Richard says scarcastically, he's sure
it was hard for her. She gave up her flesh and blood
for Jared's money. Not for his money, Sydney says. Well,
for what? He didn't love her, and she didn't love him.
Giving him up was the biggest mistake of her life, Sydney
says. No, Sydney, Richard says, taking him *back* was the
biggest mistake of her life.

Loraine comes over to Zoey and says she hopes Zoey is
not looking for sympathy. Zoey says she knows she was a
fool. She thinks Sydney is telling Richard now. Loraine
is not happy; she tells Zoey that Nick is in there,
fighting for his life, he doesn't need to deal with this
now. What were the two of you thinking? she yells.

Ally says that she was raised the same way that he was.
If Casey hadn't died, she starts. He knows, she'd still
be married to him. Tony says he is not going to marry
Carla. He wants to marry someone that is special, like
her. She's so special to him. He kisses her hand. Alex
comes back, and says that Jocelyn is not in her apartment,
and she wouldn't have gone out, here's her purse. Ally
confirms that's Jocelyn's purse and tells Alex that she's
getting worried. He tells Ally and Tony that with the
Masquerader around, he's worried, too. He wants to look
for her. He tells them to get up and help him.

Jocelyn is pounding on the door (looks small, like a
closet). She is near hysterics. she is yelling and
pounding. And crying.

Alex, Ally, and Tony enter Tess' old agency (Sydney's
work place). Why here? Ally asks. Well, Alex says,
they've looked everywhere else, so why not here?
(ed. note: if they've been everywhere else why didn't
Tess mention that she had a message from "Sydney"? and
how did they get in...oh, wait, the Masquerader said the
door would be unlocked, and they didn't think that was
unusual? Anyhow, back to the story) When did Sydney have
contractors come by? Tony looks at the patched job where
Jared had made the hole in the wall. Alex says they're
looking for Jocelyn, not at the workmenship. Ally suggest
they call the cops. They won't do anything for 24 hours,
Alex informs her. Tony says if Alex calls his friend and
explains the situation, they may do soemthing earlier.
They leave for the police station. We see Jocelyn, inside
the patched up work (I assume), and they pan to someone
looking over her (I think).

Richard tells Sydney that he wants nothing to do with her.
He can't leave it like this. Watch him, he says, as he
leaves the chapel.

Zoey says that all she was doing was protecting everyone.
She thought that she was doing the right thing. Loraine
says she is sorry, she shouldn't have come down that hard
on her. She was worried about Nick, cause she loves him.
Zoey says she loves him, too, even if he isn't her real
dad. Now, Loraine says, she have to fix it; no more lies.
Richard comes in and Loraine leaves. Zoey hugs him and
tells him that it will be okay. He wants her to come with
him. He picks up his coat and they leave.

Loraine goes into the chapel and tells Mz Sydney Chase that
she just had a talk with Zoey, and she told her everything.
If she was her, she'd be on her knees, begging the all
mighty for forgiveness.
